Hopefully Tavernier gets a new contract he is my favourite player. i know his legs are gone, but he is still useful with 20 mins to go in a match. it would make sense if he agreed to something like 20k a week. It's still higher than what the average person makes.

01 Apr 2026 18:03:09
No thank you. He has been a great servant for the club and a bargain in terms of fee, but, by your own admission, his legs are gone.

No way should we be paying someone Β£20, 000 per week for 20 minutes here and there.

I want players in all positions who are capable of playing 90+ minutes.

01 Apr 2026 18:11:28
No, from me, he needs replaced, which should have happened a couple of years ago.

01 Apr 2026 18:21:22
I would hope we do keep Tav on a much reduced playing time and drop in wages. πŸ€” Tav can be crucial to have to cover injuries and bring on in certain games if we're not winning, and of course his massive experience that can be called upon within our first team squad.

πŸ€” A new 1 year deal for me, and he's never injured and can be relied on. πŸ€” πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

01 Apr 2026 18:33:05
Aphe,
Tav's been more fit and available to play 90+ minutes than Sterling has been.
I'd be offering a 1 year contract on reduced terms but looking to sign a younger player to compete with him in the meantime.

01 Apr 2026 18:35:34
Nope, thanks and fare thee well. πŸ‘

01 Apr 2026 18:36:31
Only if we win the league. He would be a valuable asset we could afford, especially in Europe. But obviously not as a starter, every team needs a Tav who knows the ropes and can guide the new incomings and upcoming youths forward. But if we lose this title then it's a new captain and permanent right back with the same skills as Rommens.

01 Apr 2026 18:39:50
I'd be happy to pay Tav Β£20m a week, but I think we should offer a basic of Β£15k and Β£5k bonus if he plays 1 match per week.

Tav's definitely a good alternative to have, especially if we want to go back 3 mid match.

He wouldn't be my first choice next season, but he's a good back up.

01 Apr 2026 18:40:12
CO2, I have been open with my desire to possibly have 2 new right backs for next season.

01 Apr 2026 19:05:34
I wouldn't even offer him 10k a week, this has got to be a joke post?

01 Apr 2026 19:07:55
If we are getting rid of players that can't last 90 minutes, Tav won't be the only one that goes. The big problem we have currently is the difference he makes in attacking situations down the right, and how he's missed when he doesn't play. It probably is time for him to move on, but we will need to find a decent replacement, a right footed Rommens would do, and we would need to solve the problem we've had for years on the right side of the attack.

Without Tav that problem is highlighted even more.

01 Apr 2026 19:32:50
Happy with your opinion, Aphe, to sign 2 right backs next season if we can afford to prioritise that position over other positions on the pitch.
I just think Tav with his experience could play a part in the squad and would still be fit enough to play a significant playing role.

Definitely need to sign at least 1 younger right back that's a starter though.
We'll have plenty of other positions to cover and some continuity within the playing squad would be helpful.

01 Apr 2026 19:46:21
Heard it all now £20k for 20 minutes. 😲

01 Apr 2026 19:52:20
Why would it be a joke post storm? Explain. πŸ€” It's posters' different opinions. The ones on here that want to keep Tav could refer to yours as a joke post, which of course it ain't. It's an opinion, my friend. πŸ€”

01 Apr 2026 19:56:53
Keep all day. We're too quick to throw experience away.

01 Apr 2026 19:58:12
Β£20k pw to maybe play 20 mins each week. I'd love a job like that.

Never been a fan of him, will recognise he has served the club for a long time when he goes, but time is up, as it was some time ago, and we need to move into a new era for the club. Not a captain and never should have been.

01 Apr 2026 20:02:19
Thank you, Tav, for the Goals, but it's time to say goodbye. πŸ‘‹

01 Apr 2026 20:33:34
I'm sorry, good servant, but I personally can wait to get rid of every member of this so called "leadership" group.

01 Apr 2026 20:48:48
CO2 - Neither Tav or Sterling is the ideal answer at RB - the position needs upgraded with several new players IMHO πŸ€” Am sure DR and those above are all too well aware of that. πŸ‘

01 Apr 2026 16:38:15
Reading some posts over the past couple weeks,

I genuinely don't get the reaction to Mikey Moore at all.

The boy comes in, works his socks off every game, shows quality on the ball, takes responsibility, and actually looks like he's trying to make things happen yet somehow he's getting picked upon?

Is this seriously about a rumoured Β£15m fee? Because if it is, that says more about the fans than the player. He's not set that price, and he's not hiding he's actually putting in the effort people constantly demand.

Or is it because he's keeping Finlay Curtis out the team? Because that argument doesn't hold up either. Where was this energy when Kent came in? Or Tillman? Or Sima? Or Cortes? Or Skov Olsen? All of them have blocked pathways for younger players at some point, but they didn't get this weird resistance straight away.

Feels like Moore is being judged differently and unfairly at times in my opinion.

At the end of the day, what more do people want right now? He's contributing, he's showing intent, and he's clearly got ability. Not every player hits the ground with goals and assists immediately, especially in a team that's not exactly flying.

Maybe instead of looking for faults, fans should recognise that he's actually one of the few putting a shift in and trying to drive the team forward.
More so than Skov so far, Kent in his last year or so definitely more then Cortes had ever shown in his short appearances
Or are we now at the stage where effort, quality, and attitude still aren't enough?

Whether he leaves or we manage to get another loan, let's appreciate what he does and can do
So much negativity at times when we're trying to challenge for the title - it's the same with Barron too much negativity around him from certain fans,
Appreciate what there doing and what they bring compared to some others.

01 Apr 2026 17:34:28
Why don't we just try and support every player, Stig.

It surely can't be a defence for certain players, yet it's deemed acceptable to belittle other players.

I am one who has said for all their energy, both players do not provide as good numbers on average as players who get slaughtered every single day.

I respect what they bring and enjoy the energy they play with, but my objective mind also makes me consider the final output.

01 Apr 2026 17:37:21
Superb post and can't argue with any of that, mate. πŸ‘ I rate Mikey Moore very highly, Thestigno1, as you'll know by my posts on him, and he gives his all for Rangers. πŸ‘ πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ As well as being a very talented young footballer, he also has a fantastic attitude, so absolutely no argument from me regarding your post, pal. πŸ‘ πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

01 Apr 2026 17:51:56
Stig, good post, and I don't disagree, but you could say the exact same thing about Chermiti and his price. He had no say over it either. Yet the response is that he is our player, and Moore isn't, so we can criticise him even more.

I am one who likes Moore, but if we are going to develop a young player, I would rather it was one who is owned by us. I can see why Curtis needed to go on loan to get to the next stage as well, though, but that doesn't mean I don't think, in future, it should always be a kid from our academy.

None of that means I don't support Moore whilst he is here, but also I realise that his price is the same as 3 or 4 other players who we need for other positions.

So it is a double edged sword, but given that fans can't even accept that the players we buy won't hit the ground running, and aren't perfect, it is probably an argument that won't be won over a loan player.

But, like Aphe says, support the player whoever he is, and we might actually see improvement as time goes on.

01 Apr 2026 18:44:38
Will not be repeated under Andrew's leadership, my friend.

01 Apr 2026 18:54:22
I appreciate what he brings to the game, been one bright light to an otherwise poor season. However, I don't want to loan him for another season as I think his salary and transfer will be too much.

So why assist developing someone who won't be ours, and we will never make any money from him. Spend it on 3 or 4 other players who we can develop for ourselves and make some profit, hopefully.

01 Apr 2026 19:12:04
Not slagging Moore but Kent, Tilman, Cerny and Sima all had better numbers than he has. Experienced players keeping a youngster of our own out of the team is a bit more acceptable than a loanee youngster doing the same. I must stress again, not slagging Moore, all I would say is I certainly wouldn't pay Β£20million to keep him.

01 Apr 2026 21:11:55
Also remember wslgers4ever, Mikey Moore is only 18 years old. πŸ€”

01 Apr 2026 14:11:47
Read an article not long ago there regarding spurs new head coach roberto de zerbi. The report states that de zerbi will want to evaluate the full spurs squad no matter what league they're in next season πŸ€” He particularly likes giving young upcoming talented footballers a chance and it's suggesting our spurs loanee Mikey Moore will be going back to spurs and will not be a Rangers player beyond this season permanently or on loan ☹️If this is young Moore's last 7 games in a Rangers jersey i hope he goes away on a massive high, with a league title winning medal in his pocket πŸ™ Moore's performance's will have a big say for me, in us possibly winning the league title πŸ€” So i hope he goes and smashes it in what's probably going to be his last 7 games for us and i'll always wish this young kid all the best in his career, in what will be a terrific career imo πŸ‘ŒI'll watch with massive interest michael Moore's career going forward πŸ‘πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

01 Apr 2026 15:14:32
People are under the power of the player all the time here.

No new manager wants unhappy players, so if Mikey Moore or anyone else says they want out or want to be somewhere else, then chances are that's what will happen.

Nowadays, if a player says he wants out, then mostly he'll get his wish.

01 Apr 2026 16:59:54
De Zebri or not, it will linger on all summer, possibly till last day of window. Spurs got a huge injury crisis, with a lot coming back in summer as well. Add that to a World Cup year, and De Zebri wanting some of his own players in as well, anything could happen.

Odds against him coming back, but CL would help us, so let's win league.

01 Apr 2026 17:00:37
Felt like am just seeing Mikey Moore and Michael Moore. 😜

01 Apr 2026 19:14:06
No matter what is being said, I wouldn't be surprised to see De Zerbi walk away if Spurs go down. He doesn't strike me as the type to hang around if things aren't going the way he wants them to.

01 Apr 2026 13:14:42
Wee bit of banter. What would be your top 5 foreign midfielders for us over the past 30 years? No Brits. No wingers.

01 Apr 2026 13:33:54
I can think of 2 Reyna and Albertz.

01 Apr 2026 13:40:01
I'll add Gio to TC's list.

01 Apr 2026 13:45:57
Rino Gatusso, Pedro Mendes, Gio van Bronckhorst, and Claudio Reyna. Albertz doesn't make the cut because he did most of his best work from a wide position, despite not being a winger.

01 Apr 2026 13:48:13
Tugay, Albertz, GvB, Reyna, Arteta.

01 Apr 2026 13:48:25
Van Bronckhorst, Albertz, Arfield, De Boer, Reyna - couldve had Arteta or Mendes in instead maybe.

01 Apr 2026 13:52:39
What a player Tugay was, star.

01 Apr 2026 13:55:41
Superb three cheers, I can remember Tugay playing sweeper against Monaco, outstanding.

01 Apr 2026 14:41:47
Agree, My Star, Reyna was a smashing player.

01 Apr 2026 15:06:29
Great question, and although Orange T has asked us to name our top 5 foreign midfielders to have played for Rangers over the last 30 years, I've actually picked 6, as I just couldn't leave any of these 6 superb midfielders out, i.e. R. De Boer, Tugay, Reyna, GVB, Albertz and Arteta. πŸ‘Œ Pure quality in these 6. πŸ‘Œ πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

01 Apr 2026 15:41:49
Gazza.

01 Apr 2026 15:43:06
Albertz, Gio, Tugay, Reyna, Arteta, 1 guy who I thought was underrated, Hemdani.

01 Apr 2026 15:49:26
For goodness sake, Baz, read the question. No Brits.
Yellow card for you.

01 Apr 2026 16:13:35
No, Three Cheers, straight red for that.

01 Apr 2026 16:22:15
Apart from all the great midfielders named above, I always liked Hemdani as well. He looked so composed on the ball.

01 Apr 2026 16:33:21
Sorry Baz, BB4 is on the VAR today and it's been upgraded to a red.
You will automatically miss the next 2 discussions.
I feel bad for you, but let this be a lesson and learn from it and take more care when reading posts in the future.

01 Apr 2026 16:39:42
Class Three Cheers. 😁

01 Apr 2026 17:07:26
Hold on a minute, Three Cheers, at least go to the monitor, please don't come back, way it was more out than in. Baz, chill mate, he's just checking.

01 Apr 2026 18:18:07
Didn't even write mine lol. Mendes, Gvb, De Boer, Tugay and Arteta.

01 Apr 2026 18:23:57
Jan Bartram. Sorry, just realised that 30 years back means starting from '96. So, Bert Kontermann.

More seriously, Pedro Mendes, Tugay and Reyna.

01 Apr 2026 18:41:49
Jorg Albertz

Gio

Tugay

Gatuso

Arteta.

01 Apr 2026 19:23:59
Top 2 are easy, Albertz and Gvb, then I would add Reyna, Arteta and Mendes. Tugay was great at times, but was behind the first three and Barry F for a regular place. Wee Dick didn't always pick him. R. De Boer was fantastic, but I always think of him as a forward, and to be honest I don't think Gattuso was that good when he was at Rangers.

He had a great career when he left us, but he was just an enthusiastic kid when he was with us. Fernando Ricksen was good in midfield too when he was switched from full back by Alex McLeish.

01 Apr 2026 20:05:42
Terry Hurlock I know, but he is English.

01 Apr 2026 20:27:26
Albertz, Gio, Arteta, Reyna and Ricksen.
Ricksen was very good when in midfield.

01 Apr 2026 21:04:05
I would say Albertz, Gio, Hemdani, Pedro Mendez. Not sure if my falls within 30 years, but Jonas Thern.

01 Apr 2026 10:21:35
Watching the game last night what struck me was that you could have picked some team with the players watching from the stands.

01 Apr 2026 12:50:14
Can't stand Clarke in any way or form. Arrogance, petulance, my way or the hi way approach to coaching. Reminds me of a past manager here. Don't know the exact stat. 1 win in 24 friendly games. I don't care how many tournaments he boasts about getting to.

He failed miserably in them all. My crystal ball tells me that we draw in our first game (dejavu), followed by a humping by Morocco and Brazil, and back home we come, to be sent home to think again. Good to back on Saturday.

01 Apr 2026 13:13:18
Even against Haiti, it's hard to see who in this team will score goals. We will need to avoid a humping from Morocco and Brazil to maybe sneak a third place spot, but that will be tough. A last hurrah for Clarke and a lot of these players. My worry is that his replacement might be currently sitting beside him in the dugout.

01 Apr 2026 13:20:11
If it wasn't for the 32 to 48 country increase we wouldn't be anywhere near this World Cup. Same as the last Euros. The only thing that keeps me smiling is that he will manage the manky mob one day. Hopefully soon.

01 Apr 2026 13:40:54
Absolute nonsense there, DeeCee. We won the group and that would have led to qualification regardless.

01 Apr 2026 13:59:40
DtB is correct, on merit we got through Billy winning group. If he is first Scottish manager to get to next round, then it's not great shakes, as you can go through in 3rd place. What he would need to do is win the 1st knockout game for me.

01 Apr 2026 14:21:45
Correct, DtB. People are annoyed we got beat by Japan, but they just beat England as well. Japan are an excellent side, and the team that beat us last night are no mugs either. Got to laugh on here sometimes, there's some amount of guys that say they can't stand Scotland but seem to watch every game. 😜

01 Apr 2026 15:09:15
I've no time for Steve Clarke.
And don't have much of an interest in Scotland games unless it's at Major Tournaments.
And for all the talk about it being easier to qualify etc, Clarke is doing what he is paid to do.

Getting a tune out of a group of players and qualifying for Major Tournaments.
Italy, Ireland, Wales etc would all bite our hand off to be in our position.

01 Apr 2026 15:44:23
I don't especially like him but I've got to hand it to him, no qualifications for 2 odd years then he gets 3, deserves some credit in my opinion.

01 Apr 2026 16:15:22
Baz, some people are never happy, mate. Good sensible post, Mph.

01 Apr 2026 19:26:18
Japan showed last night that they are an excellent team after their reserve team had beaten Scotland a couple of days ago.

01 Apr 2026 09:53:14
Biggest game of the season this Saturday Dundee United are no duds and we need to prove we're not bottle merchants.
I think we've got more physicality than Celtic so will hopefully deal with them but still not a given.

Just a thought is it all down to how bad the Old Firm have been or are we realistically looking at sustained pressure from other teams in the future. I think we probably are as Rangers and Celtic can't buy their way to a league anymore. 5 mill used to buy us world class 30 years ago but is it going to buy us much better than what we come up against?

01 Apr 2026 10:52:39
As much as there will still be a few twists and turns left, if we can't get up for Dundee United at home to go top of the league, then I'm afraid it means this squad are bottlers.

01 Apr 2026 12:36:32
As long as we start the game quickly, I can see only one winner and a few goals that will have Ibrox bouncing. Think fans are feeling confident, but always going to be that nagging thought that we will make an arse of something. But our back four at moment is giving me hope that we could go on a good run. Bring it on.

01 Apr 2026 12:45:31
The gap between the Scottish Premiership elite and the rest of the league is shrinking, and it isn't because the "smaller" teams have found a crop of wonderkids. It's because the physical floor of the league has been raised.

In the past, technical superiority usually won out in the final third of a match. Mid-table players would tire, spaces would open up, and our quality would inevitably tell.

Now, advances in sports science - GPS tracking, individualized recovery, and elite nutrition - mean that teams like St Mirren or Kilmarnock can maintain a high-intensity mid-block for a full 90 minutes. They are fitter, faster, and more disciplined than ever before.

Additionally, the move to five substitutes has been a game-changer for defensive sides. A manager can now swap out almost half their outfield team. Just as a low-block defense starts to leg-sink, they can inject fresh energy to keep the horizontal and vertical gaps plugged.

It effectively nullifies the "wearing them down" strategy we have relied on for decades.

While our players are technically better, the margin isn't wide enough to overcome a massive physical disadvantage. If our playmaker has 9/10 technique but is being hounded by a 6/10 midfielder with 10/10 engine, the physical pressure eventually forces an error or a safe pass.

Technical skill needs "air" to breathe. When every opponent is an elite athlete, that air disappears.

To "brush aside" modern Scottish teams, we need a better blend:

Technical Quality: To unlock the door.
Physical Power: To win the second balls, dominate duels, and match the intensity of the opposition.

Without that physical edge, we're forced into a "basketball game" of transitions where the underdog always has a puncher's chance. To dominate again, the recruitment needs to prioritise power and pace just as much as ball retention - which I think we've seen in the January window.

01 Apr 2026 12:49:09
I fancy us 2-0 or 3-0 against Dundee United on Saturday, with my usual Chermiti, Moore and Fernandez to score anytime. πŸ‘πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

01 Apr 2026 12:56:11
Not to mention that these other teams are allowed to kick lumps out of our players with no real consequence

However, every tackle made by a Rangers player is put under a microscope.

And also to mention the pure shambles that is VAR chopping off goals or not giving the correct decisions during games.

01 Apr 2026 13:15:52
Biggest game of the season since the last one and until the next one. We won't underestimate United, having had two 2-2 draws with them this season, but at home, with the crowds backing, we should get the job done.

01 Apr 2026 13:54:15
Maybe an unpopular opinion, but after we hopefully win on Saturday, I hope Hearts win too before Celtic play. For them to go into the Dundee game 5 behind us and 8 behind Hearts would pile the pressure on them, and I'm not convinced they'd handle it. Drop points and they would almost be out of it.

We would still have 6 games to topple Hearts, including a game against them - I still think if we finish above Celtic we win it. In the last 6, Hearts have to play Motherwell twice, an away Edinburgh Derby, a trip to the piggery and us at Tynecastle. They will drop plenty of points.

01 Apr 2026 14:01:11
The lesser clubs didn't even want the 5 subs in because they said it would give Celtic and Rangers unfair advantage.

01 Apr 2026 14:02:39
Good breakdown Ehl, agree. πŸ’―

01 Apr 2026 15:11:09
I've always said the same as you, Jackboy. πŸ‘ If we finish above Celtic, imo we win the league title. πŸ€” πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ That's not me for a second trying to be disrespectful to Hearts, but that's also my honest opinion. πŸ€”

01 Apr 2026 15:46:43
What a fantastic post, Ehl, it's good to see people understanding game dynamics and not just assuming we should beat teams because we are Rangers. Very informed, mate.

01 Apr 2026 15:51:16
Let's see if this team is really up for the fight. How many times have we had a chance and not taken it?
Well, we are at home and have a chance to go top till Sunday. Let's put pressure on the other 2.

A comfortable win would be nice, but 3 points is a must.
I will be there as always. Just hope if we don't score early, fans don't get on their backs. We need an atmosphere like Hearts game.
