I had 25/1 shot Almeraqq yesterday and had lost boys also, so all in all the best racing festival I have ever had, mate, a right good few quid up though, spent some of it on trainers π€¦ββοΈ. My biggest vice. Home for 2 weeks on Tuesday and can't wait.

Forgot to save horses, have saved me as not had much up in World Cup, always one daft result.

A habit I have just kicked, Strom. Had over 150 pairs. The wife went into the attic and blew her lid. Had to trim it right back. π€¦π»

Another assured performance by Lewis Ferguson last night on the big stage against a good side. Bologna will be delighted as the selling club.

You keep on saying Rangers won't get him, Iron. I can see a good few being totally wrong.
20 Jun 2026 11:09:37
I don't keep saying it. That would infer I constantly jump on every post about him and say we won't.
I do not. This post is nothing to do with whether we get him or not.
I've praised him for his performance on the big stage in front of many eyes that will increase his value. Bologna will be happy with that. π€·πΌββοΈ Nothing more.
20 Jun 2026 11:21:25
Cool then, I thought you're another saying we won't sign him, as Cavenagh wants him signed, Iron.
20 Jun 2026 11:50:25
He definitely won't be signing for Rangers.
I've been consistent on my thoughts.
1/ His agent has been saying all the right things in public (nobody burns their bridges for 4-5 years' time and a last payday at the club he loves).
2/ No player in his prime leaves a top 5 league for the SPFL.
3/ The player himself sees his future at the top level, EPL etc.
And from my point of view, he isn't worth the Β£15 million quoted.
And finally, people are talking as if he is ripping up the WC. I just don't see it. Being the best player on the park for Scotland wouldn't be hard with the performances so far.
20 Jun 2026 11:56:10
Definitely? Here we go, man, you have clearly been told this then, Mph, or you're going with gut instant, but Cavenagh wants him signed.
20 Jun 2026 12:21:59
Definitely, MyStar.

20 Jun 2026 12:23:11
My Star, my opinion is and always has been I think he'd like to play for Rangers but his next contract is his last big contract and he'll have bigger offers or better offers than the 1 we table him, that will in all likelihood be worth millions more to him over 4 yrs. With a young family I think he'll take the best offer.
Would I like him at Rangers, yes of course but I think the more he performs well at the World Cup the more interest in him there will be in his services. I have no idea if the Rangers Chairman wants him has he come out publicly and said he does? I assume he'd like lots of players but sometimes ambition doesn't match reality.
20 Jun 2026 12:54:26
Let's be realistic about the Ferguson rumors. If Lewis Ferguson actually signs for us during his peak years, it means he simply isn't the elite player we think he is. Love for the club is a great sentiment, but it is not a realistic reason to believe a player in his prime would reject massive offers from top-tier teams.
He will have serious options on the table from established Serie A clubs and likely several English Premier League sides, especially after his recent performances at the World Cup.
Modern football simply does not work this way. A player at the absolute top of their ability does not willingly leave a top-five European league to play in a competition of the SPFL's standard. The financial chasm is just too wide, with top-five clubs offering wage packages that Scottish football cannot match.
Playing in a top league guarantees weekly matches against world-class opposition, which keeps a player in the international spotlight and protects their national team status.
What actually happened is standard agent behavior. He did what many agents do to keep the fan base on his side, dropping a quote about how his client would love to play for the club one day.
Agents earn their percentages on transfer fees and contract sizes, so they will always push for the highest-value market while a player is in demand. That day will come for us, but it will be when he is around 31 or 32 and looking for a final chapter, not while he is at his peak.
20 Jun 2026 13:07:19
Ferguson will play for Rangers. I'd bet my pension on it. But not just now. Try 4 years.
20 Jun 2026 13:09:27
Agree, π― Angus. I can find nowhere where Cavanagh has said he wants him. He probably does, he'd probably like quite a few, but the reality is this is Scottish football, you don't get top class players in their prime coming to our league. I'd love Ferguson, but it might be after his next move.
20 Jun 2026 14:02:53
Mr Pot, you are 100% correct.
Same with you, Iron.
20 Jun 2026 22:59:21
Does his fee not decide if he's an elite player, Angus?
21 Jun 2026 08:19:26
Rfc, no I don't think so. A player's transfer fee reflects market conditions, club desperation, and contract length rather than innate talent. The transfer market is heavily inflated, meaning the price paid is simply a negotiation outcome. A player's "elite" status is ultimately determined by their consistent, high-level on-pitch performance over time.
How could a player be considered elite if he stays with the one club all the time, or he reaches the end of his contract and there is no fee? So, fee has little if anything to do with the fact a player is considered elite imo.
21 Jun 2026 10:28:37
I really like the idea of signing Ferguson, but I think people have inflated his ability far beyond what it actually is. He isn't an elite player, he's a good player. Bologna isn't an elite club either.
21 Jun 2026 11:35:21
Sensible comment from the man β¬οΈ up there, who are u and what u done with Big D? πππ
21 Jun 2026 12:31:45
Bd, correct but using it incorrectly, possibly to ask why Fergison would come to us at the peak of his career when playing in a top 5 league. Bologna may not be elite but they are at a higher level than us. Possibly around the level of Bodo Glimt. π£
21 Jun 2026 13:42:36
Ferguson is nowhere near an elite player. I want to sign him, but he will not be at Rangers next season.
21 Jun 2026 14:13:59
Just no, in a daft enough mood the day, Forky. π€ͺ Don't get too used to the sensible comments.
21 Jun 2026 14:16:27
Angus, you have a point but consider he's a Rangers fan and might actually want the move. It's possible. Captaincy be a big lure too.
And who says he will be good enough in 4 years and we will want him then. It's for him to weigh up if we bid.
21 Jun 2026 15:51:44
BD, I can see the agent/player chat now. Yes, I know you want to play for Rangers as a fan, but my 15% of the commission on the transfer fee from Juventus plus the bigger wage is much more important.
Andy Robertson has been bleetering on for ages about wanting to play for Celtic one day as he is a fan.
Just on free now at end of contract, and where does he go. The higher level of the EPL to Spurs. It is a job to them. He may well come, but I would be extremely surprised. Don't know his auntie or his cleaner, just don't think it will happen.
21 Jun 2026 18:04:48
Valid point re Roberson.
The Juventus link was a while ago too. I'm not seeing anyone else linked to him currently.
And Ferguson will decide, his agent can only advise. If my agent mentioned his commission as part of any discussion to sway me in a different direction he would be fired on the spot.
21 Jun 2026 18:09:13
P.S. His auntie is his cleaner. So I heard from his neighbours gardener.
21 Jun 2026 19:03:08
Bd, excellent, and I don't know. Just would be really surprised if it happened this move. Glad you have an inside source though.
I didn't think his agent would mention commission, but can't imagine he would recommend us as a viable choice either, given the level of clubs who will be in the mix, I reckon.
Bought a new hat though, so I can eat it when I am wrong. π
21 Jun 2026 19:26:47
Stranger things have happened, mate! We shall see.

Who's our ideal goal keeper if you had the choice? Within budget/wages?

20 Jun 2026 08:50:27
I think we will struggle to find better than Butland in our budget, and that wants to come.
20 Jun 2026 11:08:55
Pick up many better keepers than Butland for his salary, Rfc.
20 Jun 2026 11:37:23
Why, Rfc22? We had far better before him. Why can't we again? Plenty of good keepers are sitting frustrated, being backups, as well as good young keepers breaking thru. He's not even the best in Scotland just now.

I see Derek McInnes has binned Danny Rohl's schedule of when to start our pre season and everything has been shelved for now. π€

What's happened?
18 Jun 2026 22:11:08
SWS
Heard it's been delayed, but wasn't sure if it was just McInnes wouldn't be back till Thursday.
If it was my dream job I'd be in the door tomorrow. Don't know details so I might be being unfair. Hoping McInnes is planning now as we have a team to build.
19 Jun 2026 10:00:33
The recruitment will still be ongoing as we have a team responsible for that. I am sure that DM can still have a say across in the US.
We still also have 7 weeks for pre-season before the start of the season in Europe, which is more than enough time for him.
Just checked and Hearts had 22 days last season between start of pre-season and the first cup game in the Premier League Cup. That didn't go too badly for them, so he should be fine. It doesn't involve understanding Martin's style of play after all.
19 Jun 2026 10:35:16
That's very true, Angus, but it might take a few of the foreigners to practise their hoofing.
19 Jun 2026 10:54:00
Broste, hoofing tells me enough, mate. So Hearts just hoofed it up the park, lol man.
19 Jun 2026 11:48:07
Twas a joke, Mystar, that's all.
Although I'm not a fan of our new manager so maybe I'm just finding it hard to hide it. π
19 Jun 2026 12:01:55
Cool, but many fans have said this before, Broste, clearly it must be true for them, even when it's not remotely true.
19 Jun 2026 12:49:03
Fair enough - We all want success, we just differ in how we think best to achieve it. I really don't like McInnes, never have. Would be interesting to know why DR left, etc, summit changed within club, or he just wanted home, etc.
19 Jun 2026 12:56:15
Broste, I actually LOL'd as I saw it was a joke.
Star, but he does play a more direct style of football and the stats show that. They use long balls more than any other top 4 team and that increased from season before. They played twice as many long balls (68 per game) than Celtic and 20 more than us. Issue is, around 1 in 10 of those are unsuccessful.
They were only beaten in long balls played by St Mirren and Falkirk.
So, perhaps not hoof ball, but he does favour that more direct style of play and has done so all his managerial career. Good thing is, I actually think that is what most supporters want, as they don't like 'project manager' football where we try to hold onto possession.
It will be interesting to see how he gets us playing. He may change because we have better ball playing centre halves. I am looking forward at least to seeing it.
19 Jun 2026 13:10:45
Cheers, Angus. Partner says I'm not that funny despite me thinking the opposite.
19 Jun 2026 13:21:05
Mine says the same thing. I have heard her laugh once in 40 years at something I said. She probably is just good at laughing inwardly as I know I have been funny at least once more than that. π
19 Jun 2026 13:25:11
Yes, more direct, Angus, but hoof ball is laughable.
Broste, not any manager in our league gets his squad of last year minutes away from winning the league, he had 6/7 players in the line up that finished the bottom half the season before.
Doesn't matter what set up he's using, with better quality it can and will only improve.
19 Jun 2026 16:02:26
Not for me Mystar. Sometimes these things happen. Usually Gers / Tic don't per the bed the same season.
Hearts weren't that convincing anytime I saw them, and they seem to get a bit of luck along the way, till it ran out at the end.
19 Jun 2026 16:22:52
Star, I agree that things can improve but they don't always do that. I know I don't want DM to fail and suspect that Broste is the same, but it seems we both have some concerns that he will be the flying success a lot do because he is ex Gers and Scottish. There is a lot more things need to align than that for us to be a success.
Btw you can argue all you want about things which can't be proved ever, such as getting team to within minutes of league.
The main issue with even that is his record and the history books still say Celtic won. Rohl was 5 games from it but I think EHL's article today sheds some light on that lack of conditioning might have eventually told on a team with no legs left. I can't prove that either and lots will disagree but if we at least both realise it is an opinion then we will continue to get on. π
19 Jun 2026 16:35:53
Angus, of course it's my opinion or it wouldn't be posted, mate.
19 Jun 2026 19:54:22
π― Angus, I want him to succeed but the more I hear the less I'm convinced he will. Obsession with Gers / Scottish background. Don't get the obsession by some. We just need better players. We've not had anymore success buying locally as from abroad. It's about attitude and ability for me, it from birthplace or from who they supported growing up.
I want the club to be successful and progressive.
McInnes feels like a step back into a bygone era, which isn't relevant anymore imo.
I don't want average SPFL players brought in because they know the league. That's getting us nowhere. I think I saw Finlay's name mentioned Heart CH??? Hope to God not. I could accept Devlin as a cheap replacement for say Barron, but no way in God's earth could I accept Findlay (could be wrong on this one).
19 Jun 2026 21:08:39
We were hoofing it a fair bit under Rohl, as we were being out passed and out fought by a few teams domestically.
19 Jun 2026 22:56:46
Broste, I am with you on that. However, part of me hopes he can be the manager who can give that attitude to players. That was what he always managed at the other teams he managed. We don't struggle with lack of talent imo but with having the nerve to win when the chips are down.
I think Findlay is a joke, and one I think I have made myself. I don't think we will sign Devlin either, but he does have that attitude.
DM isn't doing the scouting but will have a say. He might just be able to pick attitude out of the 2 or 3 he gets offered when others have failed.
In all honesty, we need to try and do something different. If being Scottish is what buys him time then I can live with that if it leads to success.
20 Jun 2026 01:24:05
How is McInnes going to have average Scottish players, Broste? He is at the biggest club he's ever managed, and will have more quality than he's had anywhere.
20 Jun 2026 06:32:30
Because Scottish players that we can afford are average, not very hard to work out, Mystar. Also, Hearts did play hoof ball, and many Hearts supporters are happy he has gone because they hated his style of football.
I share the exact same concerns as others on here have posted, apart from the delaying of preseason, and that's just because many used it as an excuse last year, so I wanted a top preseason this year.
20 Jun 2026 17:23:50
Bigbluejim, So he never got wingers involved and his defence just hoofed the ball up the park, cool. π
What about a Hearts cm having more touches on average in a game than any of our midfielders? Surely that can't happen if the midfield is getting missed out?
Hearts fans will be angry with him.
20 Jun 2026 21:52:45
Star do you think hoofball means just pass to the CH and hit long balls? Honestly your copium regarding every appointment Rangers make is actually laughable.
Most people on here have used reasoning for our reservations and you just spout nonsense about why he will be a huge success as has every other appointment you've blindly backed.
21 Jun 2026 08:59:27
Bigbluejim, and you're just posting stuff you've just made up and ain't remotely close to being true, whatever works for you man, could you please explain why midfielders has more touches of the ball than ours, this hoofing up the park is laughable and only says so clueless too me.
All I've said about Mciness he should work better with better quality.
21 Jun 2026 13:50:52
BbJ, it's pointless even replying to him. My time on here has got better since he has been ignored.
21 Jun 2026 18:09:08
Yeah I'm not replying anymore, Storm, it's honestly laughable at times, pal.
21 Jun 2026 19:15:29
