I see Derek McInnes has binned Danny Rohl's schedule of when to start our pre season and everything has been shelved for now. πŸ€”

What's happened?

18 Jun 2026 22:11:08
SWS
Heard it's been delayed, but wasn't sure if it was just McInnes wouldn't be back till Thursday.
If it was my dream job I'd be in the door tomorrow. Don't know details so I might be being unfair. Hoping McInnes is planning now as we have a team to build.

19 Jun 2026 10:00:33
The recruitment will still be ongoing as we have a team responsible for that. I am sure that DM can still have a say across in the US.

We still also have 7 weeks for pre-season before the start of the season in Europe, which is more than enough time for him.

Just checked and Hearts had 22 days last season between start of pre-season and the first cup game in the Premier League Cup. That didn't go too badly for them, so he should be fine. It doesn't involve understanding Martin's style of play after all.

19 Jun 2026 10:35:16
That's very true, Angus, but it might take a few of the foreigners to practise their hoofing.

19 Jun 2026 10:54:00
Broste, hoofing tells me enough, mate. So Hearts just hoofed it up the park, lol man.

19 Jun 2026 11:48:07
Twas a joke, Mystar, that's all.
Although I'm not a fan of our new manager so maybe I'm just finding it hard to hide it. 😁

19 Jun 2026 12:01:55
Cool, but many fans have said this before, Broste, clearly it must be true for them, even when it's not remotely true.

19 Jun 2026 12:49:03
Fair enough - We all want success, we just differ in how we think best to achieve it. I really don't like McInnes, never have. Would be interesting to know why DR left, etc, summit changed within club, or he just wanted home, etc.

19 Jun 2026 12:56:15
Broste, I actually LOL'd as I saw it was a joke.

Star, but he does play a more direct style of football and the stats show that. They use long balls more than any other top 4 team and that increased from season before. They played twice as many long balls (68 per game) than Celtic and 20 more than us. Issue is, around 1 in 10 of those are unsuccessful.

They were only beaten in long balls played by St Mirren and Falkirk.

So, perhaps not hoof ball, but he does favour that more direct style of play and has done so all his managerial career. Good thing is, I actually think that is what most supporters want, as they don't like 'project manager' football where we try to hold onto possession.

It will be interesting to see how he gets us playing. He may change because we have better ball playing centre halves. I am looking forward at least to seeing it.

19 Jun 2026 13:10:45
Cheers, Angus. Partner says I'm not that funny despite me thinking the opposite.

19 Jun 2026 13:21:05
Mine says the same thing. I have heard her laugh once in 40 years at something I said. She probably is just good at laughing inwardly as I know I have been funny at least once more than that. πŸ‘

19 Jun 2026 13:25:11
Yes, more direct, Angus, but hoof ball is laughable.
Broste, not any manager in our league gets his squad of last year minutes away from winning the league, he had 6/7 players in the line up that finished the bottom half the season before.
Doesn't matter what set up he's using, with better quality it can and will only improve.

19 Jun 2026 16:02:26
Not for me Mystar. Sometimes these things happen. Usually Gers / Tic don't per the bed the same season.

Hearts weren't that convincing anytime I saw them, and they seem to get a bit of luck along the way, till it ran out at the end.

19 Jun 2026 16:22:52
Star, I agree that things can improve but they don't always do that. I know I don't want DM to fail and suspect that Broste is the same, but it seems we both have some concerns that he will be the flying success a lot do because he is ex Gers and Scottish. There is a lot more things need to align than that for us to be a success.

Btw you can argue all you want about things which can't be proved ever, such as getting team to within minutes of league.

The main issue with even that is his record and the history books still say Celtic won. Rohl was 5 games from it but I think EHL's article today sheds some light on that lack of conditioning might have eventually told on a team with no legs left. I can't prove that either and lots will disagree but if we at least both realise it is an opinion then we will continue to get on. πŸ‘

19 Jun 2026 16:35:53
Angus, of course it's my opinion or it wouldn't be posted, mate.

19 Jun 2026 19:54:22
πŸ’― Angus, I want him to succeed but the more I hear the less I'm convinced he will. Obsession with Gers / Scottish background. Don't get the obsession by some. We just need better players. We've not had anymore success buying locally as from abroad. It's about attitude and ability for me, it from birthplace or from who they supported growing up.
I want the club to be successful and progressive.

McInnes feels like a step back into a bygone era, which isn't relevant anymore imo.
I don't want average SPFL players brought in because they know the league. That's getting us nowhere. I think I saw Finlay's name mentioned Heart CH??? Hope to God not. I could accept Devlin as a cheap replacement for say Barron, but no way in God's earth could I accept Findlay (could be wrong on this one).

19 Jun 2026 21:08:39
We were hoofing it a fair bit under Rohl, as we were being out passed and out fought by a few teams domestically.

19 Jun 2026 22:56:46
Broste, I am with you on that. However, part of me hopes he can be the manager who can give that attitude to players. That was what he always managed at the other teams he managed. We don't struggle with lack of talent imo but with having the nerve to win when the chips are down.

I think Findlay is a joke, and one I think I have made myself. I don't think we will sign Devlin either, but he does have that attitude.

DM isn't doing the scouting but will have a say. He might just be able to pick attitude out of the 2 or 3 he gets offered when others have failed.

In all honesty, we need to try and do something different. If being Scottish is what buys him time then I can live with that if it leads to success.

20 Jun 2026 01:24:05
How is McInnes going to have average Scottish players, Broste? He is at the biggest club he's ever managed, and will have more quality than he's had anywhere.

18 Jun 2026 17:42:44
How you doing it royal ascot John? Won a tidy sum yesterday and today trawlerman done me for a lucky 15 800+ gutting it was seen a replay of the race as I was in a team brief at that point πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

@Stevie-G your reply re McInnes conducting Rangers business in the good old US of A and stating that respected posters who have inside info are wrong is a bad look for you bud.

McInnes cannot and will not be talking to any players as we have had no bid accepted so therefore cannot talk to any player (s) until this is the case and if he is conducting this business without bids accepted then I'm afraid we would be in trouble as it's called tapping up which is not allowed unless said player is of course OOC. Somehow doubt we would want to take this risk with a new board and brand new manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2026 18:05:17
Bbj never saw the original post, but he can be watching players and seeing if any at the right price would make his team better.

I would doubt as well if tclubs aren't chatting with agents about players being available and willing to move.

No point trying with their club if the player won't move.

So both are possibly club business, and both within the laws of the game.

18 Jun 2026 20:32:24
Angus, that wouldn't be McInnes' job, that's why we have a scouting team as that's what they're supposed to do.

The original post stated that he would be facetiming players and phoning them and even alluding to meeting players and conducting business hourly, so definition of tapping up.

Hence why I made the post as he is saying people with inside knowledge are wrong when it's him that's wrong.

18 Jun 2026 22:32:35
Bbj, I know we have a recruitment team and scouts, but I haven't met a manager yet who sent looking to see what catches their eye.

But, I agree there is no way he is doing any of what was claimed.

Definitely tapping up. Same as a lot of the misunderstanding on here about how recruitment works in a club. Real issue is none of us, not having been there, so fill in the space with nonsense.

19 Jun 2026 02:32:09
Jim, u are maybe jumping out in me cause I called u out on something the other day as this 2nd time you've called me out on something since.

All players ma Ayers etc are somewhat tapped up if u want to play by letter of the law.

Agents are approached and feelers put out. Sometimes wages are agreed etc before clubs are even approached.

Do u not think Advocaat spoke to Numan before he took over Rangers since he was first signing? Course he did.

It happens all time.

Trust me McCinnes has already spoken to Lewis about his availability and attentions.

No doubt about it.

He's pals with his uncle and dad. Of course he has.

19 Jun 2026 02:52:01
Gazza was on the phone to Man United and Spurs at same time in the car on way to United.

That wasn't an official approach.

Re ex and Mascherano.

Happens all time man.

Real Madrid are the worst.

Their players all speak Spanish when they are unveiled and 2 weeks before we're staying with their clubs.

Gareth Bake, Trent McManaman, Owen.

19 Jun 2026 13:31:29
"Gareth Bake" is he an oven ready player? πŸ˜‰πŸ™„πŸ˜„

19 Jun 2026 15:16:08
Hahahaha aye, Fork, he's got a mre line out with Greggs mate haha.

19 Jun 2026 16:26:15
Now if only Danny Roll (sic) had bought Gareth Bake we might be doing better.

19 Jun 2026 17:15:41
Gareth half baked would do us a turn, lads lol.

18 Jun 2026 12:02:15
As predicted away first game off the season at tanadice while the tramps get an easy first game

18 Jun 2026 13:33:50
They couldn't have handpicked a better first 5 or 6 games.

18 Jun 2026 14:58:09
People are missing the fix of the last few years by Scottish league Rangers play
Hearts, Celtic, Motherwell, Aberdeen all away from home first, which will likely mean after the split we will end up going to Tynecastle, Fir Park or Pittodrie 3 times in the season and again Celtic likely to get the extra home game vs one of top teams and have the more home games after split.

Why can people not see these biases?

18 Jun 2026 15:54:57
We will have 3 home games after the break, and they will have 2. It's the way it always has rotated.

18 Jun 2026 16:00:11
Great to see the excuses in early, in 39 years we have never played United away first game.

Forever, not sure what u mean re game after split. Rangers have three at home, East End mob have two

Last season first 11 fixtures home: Celtic, Hearts, Aberdeen.

18 Jun 2026 17:51:26
Jibjo, go check our 1st fixture the season after we won the league. πŸ‘ If you win the league, you get a home tie. Which means if Celtic are at home then we're away. Do people actually still not know this?

18 Jun 2026 17:52:38
Forever Rangers doesn't mean that at all. πŸ˜‚ This season is our season to have 3 home games and Celtic at home in the split.

18 Jun 2026 20:33:39
We have to beat these teams if we want to win a title. Who cares who plays who and when. We all have the same fixtures!

17 Jun 2026 23:01:50
Watching Pickford tonight and have say his kicking and ball at his feat is second to none Then think about Butland?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2026 07:04:28
Been impressed by most of the keepers so far. There's a lot more than just kicking wrong with Butland tbh.
