Seen few comments across different socials saying Butland to Forrest all but done, no idea of original source though.

19 Jun 2026 19:56:45
A guy on follow follow, his info is usually decent.

19 Jun 2026 21:33:01
How much are we expecting to get for Butland?

19 Jun 2026 21:56:41
Would hope for a couple of million.

19 Jun 2026 22:48:46
He will be going back down as a 2nd/3rd choice and be happy to sit on bench.

It's a big wage off books, wouldn't expect anything much in terms of a transfer fee.

19 Jun 2026 23:08:31
Who do you replace him with? I always thought he was a bit suspect at times, but did pull off some great saves.

20 Jun 2026 00:00:20
Find it mad the stick he gets from our support, he's a very good keeper imo.

RFC, Gunn? - Hasn't done much wrong at World Cup.

20 Jun 2026 01:18:37
Lanzarote, he's a bigger scare than Butland. His shot stopping is mediocre at best, and when the pressure is on, will make more mistakes than Butland. Replacing Butland with Gunn will replace us with Motherwell in the league table next season.

20 Jun 2026 01:26:59
Gunn had a good game tonight, so did Hendry. Scotland were unlucky not getting anything from that game. Good team Morocco, but wouldn't rule out picking up something from Brazil.

19 Jun 2026 18:09:33
A Player being shown round Ibrox today, McInnes at Ibrox Wednesday with the scarf aloft,

19 Jun 2026 18:40:00
Some I'm me not at World Cup then. Anyone any idea who?

19 Jun 2026 19:20:38
So not Devlin. 😂

19 Jun 2026 20:03:52
JHD? Falchener? Charles?

I'm just going to name players from outside our league lol XD.

19 Jun 2026 20:10:34
Bryan Reynolds?

19 Jun 2026 20:12:32
Sure Devlin not in Australia squad.

19 Jun 2026 20:17:21
He's on the bench for Australia against USA at the moment.

19 Jun 2026 20:19:51
He's on the bench just now, John.

19 Jun 2026 20:19:53
Devlin is currently sat on a bench in Seattle, John.

19 Jun 2026 20:20:01
Devlin down as sub for Oz.

19 Jun 2026 20:27:24
Thanks Adi.

19 Jun 2026 21:39:12
Dan Neil shown round Ibrox today. 👀

19 Jun 2026 22:22:39
Fingers crossed, Foolmonty. Would be pleased with that.

19 Jun 2026 22:53:09
Dan Neil better be decent. Been dragging on for ages. Doesn't excite me at all.

19 Jun 2026 23:14:20
Wish they would get it all done quicker, but will speed up soon, I hope.

19 Jun 2026 23:15:13
Interested to see our team come the start of the season. Desperately need to be sorted in defence and the wings.

19 Jun 2026 23:58:41
Another Championship player. I'm not inspired by Neil.

19 Jun 2026 17:37:55
See the folk on here are saying the we've got a keeper to replace Butland with by any chance it's Will Dennis 25 years old Keeper from Bournemouth?

19 Jun 2026 18:02:54
A keeper that's been ok at best in League One, no thanks.

19 Jun 2026 18:03:48
Rangers, I'd be very very surprised if mb third choice for Scottish domestic.

19 Jun 2026 18:04:04
God help us.

19 Jun 2026 21:58:26
Butland has been average at best. Makes the odd decent save, but his distribution is appalling. Glad to see him go, and looking forward to a GK who can pass a ball and give our CBs in particular some confidence.

20 Jun 2026 01:20:22
Gms, who do you replace him with, genuinely? Charles, two serious shoulder injuries in one season. And every other name linked is 10x worse than Butland.

19 Jun 2026 14:22:26
So people getting jumpy of the possibility of signing Devlin. The hard working defensive midfielder who plays out his skin every time he takes to the field? Yes Raskin is worth millions and played half a season.

Flattered to deceive sometimes. Get 15m for Raskin and get Devlin on a free. Great business. Hate to be a Hearts supporter just now, and if, I say if Braga gets signed they'll be jumping off king George 1V bridge. 😆.

19 Jun 2026 14:48:34
I'm hoping we get a bit more than 15mil for him, WG. He's got to be a record sale for us, surely.

Gotta agree on Devlin though. For a free transfer it would be a no brainer; he controlled the midfield in a team that finished above us in the league too.

19 Jun 2026 14:59:47
On a free it's a no brainer. Completely agree.

19 Jun 2026 15:01:14
Much needed midfield depth adding Devlin, whether he's a starter or not, is another question. You know he'll come in and run through a wall for McInnes as well.

19 Jun 2026 15:04:12
I appreciate that fan forums represent a small section of our fan base, however I've come to accept that there is not a player or manager that universally gets our support.

Like all signings, the proof is in the pudding. I remember a number of players who were not initially fancied at Ibrox but fondly remembered as Rangers greats, and also those who arrived to too much hype, only to leave with reputational damage.

I believe Devlin would give his all in a Rangers shirt and strengthen our squad. In light of those who are likely to leave the club, we need depth as well as strength.

19 Jun 2026 15:06:17
Surely taking the likes of Devlin and putting better players around him also helps him get better, like folk say this is a no brainer, get him signed.

Also I'd really like to think we'd be interested in Elijah Just from Motherwell. 🤞🏻

19 Jun 2026 15:11:09
Kenny, unfortunately think Just is off to the Tims.

19 Jun 2026 15:12:13
Said it a million times, we have 1 title in 16 years, and still snobbery against players from our league that normally show us up when we play against them, but they're not good enough to play for us.

19 Jun 2026 15:14:33
Raskin is overrated imo. I can't for the life of me see why Belgium have him in the squad for the WC.

19 Jun 2026 15:24:20
Cmac, probably for changing games like he did the other night, mate.

19 Jun 2026 15:25:26
If he goes, Raskin will sell for a base fee around £13m max anymore will be due to addons etc.

19 Jun 2026 15:25:49
Sell Raskin for a good fee and bring in Delvin for nothing. If it doesn't work out with Delvin, then we sell him next summer for profit. Good business move. Probably low to mid level wage so for me it's a no brainer.

19 Jun 2026 15:29:55
Cheers Ehl, top article.

19 Jun 2026 15:38:22
Mystar, I only saw the highlights of the Belgium game to be honest, so I can't comment on his performance with them. I don't think he had a great year with us at all, and imo, I don't think he's as good as people make him out to be.

19 Jun 2026 15:42:07
CMac, the Belgium manager knows how to use him. We don't. He's surrounded by top end talent in that squad that makes him better.

His performance the other day changed the game for Belgium, had a line splitting pass, and should've ended the game with an assist if Lukaku scores the header.

19 Jun 2026 15:59:17
If we're pricing Chermiti at 25mill there's no way we're letting Raskin go for 13mill imo.

19 Jun 2026 16:00:24
Don't think he is "off to the Tims".

19 Jun 2026 16:04:14
Raskin, can go. He is a bad apple, terrible attitude, plays when he feels like it and has issues with all previous managers.

19 Jun 2026 16:05:18
Also, keeping in mind Tims are looking at 25+ for Engels.

19 Jun 2026 16:06:25
Marchdale in media today anyway, that just is keen on the move.

19 Jun 2026 16:09:08
Honestly, please, no. Devlin is at best a squad player. We're not swapping out Raskin and replacing him with Devlin unless we're looking for a top 3 spot.
We all have an opinion, I get it, but come on, Devlin? We've gone from hoping for some of Europe's top up and coming midfielders joining to Devlin?
I'm not sure this close season can get any more uninspiring.

From the back room team to this. I give up if this is our level.

19 Jun 2026 16:15:59
Ryan, bud, I was having a bit of a laugh yesterday and think you are a good poster, but to say anyone not wanting Devlin is "snobbery" is a bit of a joke. In fact it's an incredibly poor take.

I don't think we need Devlin. However, I'd take Luke Graham, so how is that snobbery? Is it now selective snobbery? I think Barron has a higher ceiling than Devlin, and a complaint has been we have too many midfielders who are the same, but we're going to bring in another who is the same? I've seen folk crying out for playmakers, tempo setters and goalscorers, but we're going to go sign another "battler" "terrier" etc.

As I've said I'm not completely against it. I won't picket outside Ibrox if he signs. I believe the wages and time used to sign him could be better utilised elsewhere, and I'm entitled to that. I could sit here and say "oh how our standards have dropped if you think signing Devlin is the right call" or "let's be a budget Hearts" but I respect your right to want a player I don't think we need.

Rant done. 😂

19 Jun 2026 16:38:47
Many fans seem to think that just because Hearts finished second last season, or Motherwell had a couple of good games against us, we should automatically sign their best players. While that is mostly a joke, it perfectly sums up the rationale of a lot of supporters.

We say we want a Scottish core, yet we talk about selling a Scottish talent like Connor Barron just to replace him with an Australian. Sure, an Aussie player might understand the league, but do they truly understand the club?

I would rather give Antman, Gassama and Curtis more game time, and another chance to show they learned from last season, as they now know about the demands of the club.

Not all players ever understand or meet those demands no matter how they played for their previous teams.

And, we only have room for 26-28 players in our squad. With limited spaces available, I would much rather give our own young lads a chance as backups than bring in another foreign signing who doesn't offer anything different from what we already have.

Not snobbery but just a different way of looking at the same problem.

19 Jun 2026 16:49:09
Ryan, you can keep saying the snobbery nonsense. My post from the lady time still stands.

The fan base keep saying he is on a free, he works hard, etc. This seems to be the criteria that you want us to buy him on.

Any other attributes, stats, etc to back it up.
We have two players who work hard and are feisty and can run.
So why do we need another.

19 Jun 2026 16:51:02
Overrated, flatters to deceive, but let's demand £15 million + for him. 🙄

19 Jun 2026 16:16:11
Gersready1 I'm genuinely interested where you get your info from that he is a bad apple, the leaks have dried up at Ibrox so how do you know that he has a terrible attitude. As far as I can see he likes it at Rangers but he will ultimately move onto bigger and better leagues when his valuation is met whether he wants to stay or not.

I for 1 like the wee man and if he had better players around him his level would go up like it does with Belgium

19 Jun 2026 17:30:09
imo 26/28 far too large a squad. If 28, we r leaving 6 players out of European squad.

Allow 17 foreign.
Allow 4 association, we have at present 4.
Allow 4 Rangers grown, we have 1.

It's a very difficult task.

19 Jun 2026 17:44:52
Oh, come on, are you being serious with "Raskin changed the game when he came on"?

Granted, he put in one good cross for Lukaku, who should have done better, but other than that, where did he change the game?

19 Jun 2026 17:55:13
Weeker, ball to the assisting for the goal they scored, you miss that?

19 Jun 2026 17:56:38
Weeker, or didn't Belgium improve once Raskin came on?

19 Jun 2026 17:57:24
Elijah Just won't be signing for anyone in Scotland after his showing at the World Cup.

19 Jun 2026 18:04:59
If Delvin is better than Raskin, then why has he not been snapped up? Simple reason is he's not. Raskin is a 15 million pound player. Raskin is a great player. Delvin is decent; I would take him as a squad option, but he's not on Raskin's level, and I don't think he ever will be.

19 Jun 2026 18:20:38
My star, you named one pass he made, but he didn't assist, assisting an assist come on! In 40mins or so he was on pitch, he had 27 touches of the ball. Belgium did improve 2nd half, yes, Raskin wasn't the one who came on and directly caused it, so no, you have failed to convince me he altered that game.

19 Jun 2026 18:46:48
Cool Weeker, I'm really trying to convince nobody, but I did see the difference after he came on, you didn't see it, that's fair enough.

19 Jun 2026 18:48:51
Why do the Belgium fans want him starting the next game? They must also have seen the improvement.

19 Jun 2026 19:15:06
John, this is why we need to sign a couple more club trained players.

19 Jun 2026 19:25:32
Star how many Belgium fans do you know. How many were quoted anywhere who want him on. I have searched a lot over last 20 minutes to see if I can find that mass wave of Belgian fan support but failed. over to you

19 Jun 2026 19:39:46
Belgium clearly improved when Raskin came on and he created the goal. Devlin would be well worthwhile, and we can do a deal with Motherwell for more than one player (of 3 or 4). They are a club we have always worked well with and we will have the money to sign anyone they have that we want, all of course down to the players and what they want.

We can only try, but those players have done well in Scotland and seem happy, so why rush off? Chermiti, Fernandez, Raskin how much? £60m fair? And we already have a replacement for one of them.

19 Jun 2026 19:43:29
Goram, agree Gerrard had set a plan. He wanted the 8 to all be Rangers trained.

Problem is, to meet the club trained need to be over 21.
So Curtis next year, so no one in system comes through for at least three years who would b over 21.

19 Jun 2026 19:53:00
For me, signing Devlin is a no risk signing. He knows the league and has the qualities we need. My only thing would be, he is very similar to Barron. Great squad player, but hoping for a little better quality.

19 Jun 2026 20:39:59
Angus, was in a couple of articles I read the day after the game. Did you watch the game? Did Belgium improve after he came on? Just yes or no would do.

19 Jun 2026 20:51:06
Angus, I just found the article.
Belgium fans demand Rangers Raskin starts next game after impressive camoe.
Exact words.
Others must have seen with as well, article was on Wednesday.

19 Jun 2026 20:53:24
Surprises me hearing Gerrard wanted 8 from academy. He barely played any.

19 Jun 2026 21:43:04
Raskin getting it again, he is a great player, but some can't see the wood for the trees.

19 Jun 2026 22:59:50
Raskin our best player, time to change things up though, as for playing for Belgium, he does what he's asked to do and does it well and will more than likely start the next game.

18 Jun 2026 21:47:39
Not sure if I'm preempting this correctly but from what I'm hearing we are slightly pivoting on some previous advanced negotiations and talks

This 💯 will be due to DMs personal preference over our list of potential targets

Watt to Devlin being one example, hearing more and more chat around Devlin's management team and us

Still hearing the same around Braga, Ferguson and Graham

Hoping others who may know more are hearing the same

Would love to see Braga making the move, he would be a big upgrade on Miovski, and could cover all our forward positions

18 Jun 2026 22:52:38
I think John had said somewhere that a few are done and we've called off 3.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

18 Jun 2026 22:53:15
If the choice is Watt for £4M or Devlin on a free transfer, I can see the merit in signing Devlin.

18 Jun 2026 23:28:42
We'd be playing with ten men if Devlin played for us, he'd be walking regularly.

18 Jun 2026 23:56:37
No way Devlin for Watt. Serious mistake imo.

19 Jun 2026 00:01:18
My Star, 6 yellows last season, no reds. Dio had 6 and 2 reds, plus Raskin had 7 yellows. He gets a bad name because he used to be really reckless, but he has definitely matured in the last few seasons.

19 Jun 2026 00:13:27
Hate to say it, these signings will not take us forward. Graham, playing for Dundee, & we're on the end of 4 nil beatings every couple of games, we need a experienced CB to sit next to Fernandez.

Braga has 1 season in the league & he done well, but when there was pressure at the end of the season, he went missing & even got dropped. Is he better than Miovski? Maybe, but it's a different pressure at Rangers, Miovski found that out.

Watt again has had 1 good season in the league playing a certain system, style & under a good manager. Won't be playing the same way at us, wasn't great at St Johnston & has played league 1 & 2 done in England most of his career so again completely different standards to Rangers.

If McInnes rates Devlin ahead of Watt then we might be screwed, Devlin is not the type of midfielder we need & at least Watt is.

Delvin is a worse Barron, Barron is younger & improved a lot this season on the ball & yes, he does need to be better with his passing.

As for Ferguson, I think it's a massive risk for the amount of money it'd take to get him in, which is £10+ million. He's had a serious knee injury that, known our luck with injuries, will have him missing games or unable to play st certain places. Personally don't think he's that good or as good as some make out, if his name wasn't Ferguson I wonder would anyone want him?

I could be wrong & they all come in, be brilliant & help us win the quadruple then I'll happily look the fool & admit I was wrong.

19 Jun 2026 00:19:46
Agree, DJB
Hoping it's all just noise. If not, I think it's a serious error of judgement and strikes of RM's reign and look where that got us.

19 Jun 2026 00:48:37
Who should we go for then? Rice and Haaland perhaps.

19 Jun 2026 05:01:18
Absolutely nobody knows how signings will pan out - it's your fear talking. Everything is a risk at the end of the day.

Put your big boy pants on and stop being scared of change - trust the process WATP.

👊😁👊🔴⚪️🔵

19 Jun 2026 06:46:41
Watt struggled for a game at St Johnstone before going to Motherwell. He's had one good year. Devlin's been consistently decent.

19 Jun 2026 06:53:04
At this stage no one has a Scooby Doo who we will sign! Last summer signings, no one knew about or had any prior knowledge of. Most is guesswork, which is what fans do. I have complete faith that lessons have been learned.

19 Jun 2026 07:12:32
Miovski never got a chance at us. Think, given the game time he would have out scored everyone last season. Naderi is talented, is he the answer for us? I have my doubts.

All I know is if I had to hang my hat on one to bag me a winner it would be Miovski 100%. Think it's a mistake to sell, hope McInnes has a look at him first.

19 Jun 2026 07:26:11
Can't believe there's an argument between Devlin and Watt. Devlin has been consistent for years, experience, knows the league, all things yous all cry out for lol. Watt has had one good season and we're screaming for him.

Who tf said Devlin wasn't good? He's been Hearts best player for years. Just look at how we all reacted when he got that bad injury, everyone said it would f*** Hearts for the run in for the league. Honestly, man. 😅

19 Jun 2026 07:34:51
If players didn't get a move after 1 good season, we would never have got 20m+ for Bassey and possibly hitting 30m for both Fernandez and Chermiti.

Fair have reservations, but to say it's a step backwards, when it happens all the time in football after 1 good season, is a bit silly, is it not?

19 Jun 2026 07:36:07
I've always liked Devlin and think he'd be a good squad player, but depends on who leaves. No point in having Raskin, Dio, Chuck, Barron, Watt and Devlin. And does that mean we dropped interest in the other No6s we were looking at, like Andersen?

19 Jun 2026 07:40:11
Makes me chortle reading these threads sometimes.

Devlin walks into our team and makes us better. He's coming off the back of at least two seasons where he's performed better than any of our current midfield and on a free is an absolute no brainer.

I swear, half of our current fan base would be saying Ian Ferguson, Stuart McCall, Neil McCann, Alan McLaren, Davie Robertson etc. weren't good enough for us when we were signing them from other unfancied clubs.

Yet, for 3 of my 5 decades these were the bread and butter types of player that brought us success when supplemented with unproven continental risk.

Hell, when Walter came back the second time it was his blueprint to win the league and take us to a Euro final: Broadfoot, Thomson, Whittaker, Novo, 38 year old Wier etc.

Rangers need to get back to winning the fight first, before trying to play. Devlin improves us in that regard imo.

19 Jun 2026 08:08:10
Well said, G Dog. Devlin is a great squad player for free! And he'd not want a huge salary. We need to get back to basics and out fight and out run teams. We dominated Scottish football doing that. We, of course, need quality, but that quality needs surrounded by grafters with desire to do the dirty work.

19 Jun 2026 08:09:09
Sorry DJB, Glen Kamara played in team that got beat 3/4 0. Was he not good enough?

19 Jun 2026 08:12:46
I will wait and see who we do actually sign, as last season very few of the rumours were correct and club kept things tight till last minute.

What I will say is that I hope, unlike last season, we don't let a manager get his way by picking his players.

We have a recruitment team to spread the net wider and get the type of positions identified. Manager has a say but isn't the be all and end all.

19 Jun 2026 08:13:34
Devlin is a step up, hard tackling, hard working, also need a big centre hawf in the same mould. No prisoners. Midfielder and centre hawf that makes the opposition think.

Old fashioned player, so to speak.

19 Jun 2026 08:20:10
Great post, Gdog.

19 Jun 2026 08:24:14
Wow, really can't believe the support for Devlin. There is a process to follow, and it's surely not letting a manager dictate recruitment. That's what RM was allowed to do, and look how that turned out - remember!
Devlin is not winning us the league.

Celtic will be bringing in quality this summer, and we will need a big step up. Devlin replaced no one in our team, imo.

19 Jun 2026 08:48:32
Blue89, let's not forget to add Hakimi, Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia, Yamal, Gavi, Kane to that list. I would say Ronaldo but given he's getting on a bit, I'm sure there will be arguments that he's not good enough.

19 Jun 2026 08:51:48
Broste, I kinda understand you and other posters' comments to an extent, I get he isn't a huge name or one that screams game changer. However, I do think he's better than Watt, that he's been Hearts' most consistent and best player for the last 3-4 years, he's a fierce wee b****** that's relentless.

If you were to tell me that Hearts wanted 3m+ for him, then I'd say look elsewhere, but since he's OOC, I just think it's one that's a good piece of business, mate. A leader and a no nonsense midfielder. Something we need.

19 Jun 2026 09:00:30
If Devlin wasn't coming from Hearts, and was some mad Brazilian, people would be buzzing. It's not a glamour signing, it's a safe and smart signing that gives us some much needed depth in midfield.

19 Jun 2026 09:15:11
I wouldn't turn my nose up if we signed Cammy Devlin, but the 3 midfielders I really hope we do sign would be Elliot Watt, Dan Neil and Lewis Ferguson. 🙏

19 Jun 2026 09:32:33
No reds for Devlin last season, but he was injured for a big part of it. And remember, he would be playing for us, so would be stick on red cards most games.

19 Jun 2026 09:36:36
Like all three of those players, Sir Walter, but we already have a few DMs in the squad, depending who go away, then possibly two of them brought in. Still think we need a goal scoring mid to be brought in.

19 Jun 2026 09:48:23
Gdog, clearly he's better in your head. He doesn't walk straight into the Rangers team. You telling me he's better than Diomande or Raskin or Chukwuani? I'd have Barron in my side before him as well.

19 Jun 2026 09:50:34
Irvinblue, I agree that Devlin, over a good few seasons, has proven he is better than Watt. He does have that in his favour. If he does come as well, he isn't the worst choice.

My one question is always whether the player actually challenges the player in possession as that is where value for money comes from. So, does he get in ahead of Raskin, or, if we sign Ferguson, does he challenge him for the spot? It is about being able to push the player who has the jersey, as that is what will drive us forward quickly.

I just don't see Devlin doing that no matter what I think of him; and I actually think he is okay and has that bit of devilment, which I also like.

19 Jun 2026 09:56:03
Gazza, that changes as soon as he puts that Rangers jersey on.

19 Jun 2026 10:01:31
Does he challenge for a role as a backup if Barron leaves?

For me, he absolutely does. He's the sort of player you want about on a bitterly cold winter afternoon in Aberdeen.

19 Jun 2026 10:04:13
I'd put it if Dr was wanting to sign Devlin, then lots on here would be throwing their arms up, saying he's not good enough, but because it's McInnes it's all good.
Not for me. Doesn't put anyone out the team imo.

19 Jun 2026 10:06:09
Goram, squad player, yes, but we replace Raskin with Devlin, big downgrade.

19 Jun 2026 10:11:50
So if the question is:

"Was Cammy Devlin the best defensive midfielder in the SPL/SPFL in 2025-26 by stats? "

My answer would be:

He has a very credible claim. He was certainly among the top 2-3 defensive midfielders in the league statistically, and on interception-based metrics he was essentially at the top of the Premiership.

Based on the publicly available defensive numbers I've found, I would be comfortable saying he was arguably the league's best pure ball-winning defensive midfielder in 2025-26.

Says it all for me.

19 Jun 2026 10:16:28
Devlin would be a decent, experienced player to have in our team, a good addition, n a versatile
player to utilise when the backs are against a ten man block.
A workhorse.
Exactly type of player we are needing.

19 Jun 2026 10:42:03
What stands out is the defensive output:

* 110 tackles (around 3.9 per match)
* 60 interceptions, one of the highest totals in the Premiership and only one behind league leader Brad Spencer.
* 225 duels won.

A BBC analysis during Hearts' title challenge in January noted that Devlin led the Premiership for:

* tackles made,
* interceptions,
* possessions won,
* and duels won at that stage of the season.

That profile is why many observers regarded him as arguably the league's best specialist ball-winning midfielder in 2025-26. Fans and analysts consistently highlighted his influence in Hearts' title race.

If you're interested, I can also compare his 2025-26 numbers directly against Nicolas Raskin, Callum McGregor, and Brad Spencer to see where he ranked among Premiership midfielders overall.

19 Jun 2026 10:51:46
Brad Spencer getting involved now, Paul, very good player for Falkirk, but that's his level, like Devlin is for Hearts, both are downgrades from what we have now.

19 Jun 2026 11:34:09
Devlin's work rate is exceptional and would add another dimension to our squad.
On a free, why not? And get Braga signed.

19 Jun 2026 11:34:32
I wouldn't rule out Watt. Derek McInnes is a huge fan of Elliot Watt. Listen to his press conference post match against Motherwell from April 2026! I was at both matches where Hearts played Motherwell, and McInnes deliberately targeted Watt as the key player to make Motherwell tick, and then spoke very highly of him in his post match press conference.

It would not surprise me at all if he accelerates our interest in Watt.

19 Jun 2026 11:40:00
ChatGPT worded that beautifully, Paul. I agree he was the best last season at winning the ball back. I am not doubting his defensive contributions. My issue is simply that I don't believe signing him and Barron in the same team are necessary, and I'd rather Barron out the two as Barron was better at progressing the ball and is younger and Scottish. I'd also prefer we go out and get a better all round player than Devlin and Barron.

If we sign Devlin, I'm not going to be furious or kicking off about it. Just think we can do better, and it's not snobbery or whatever will be labelled at me. I'm happy to take Graham from Dundee or Mulligan from Hibs, so it's not snobbery on the league or it's not an exciting name. I just think we can get better. Like MyStar has said, I don't view Devlin as better than Diomande or Raskin.

19 Jun 2026 11:40:03
I'd take Watt every day of the week.

19 Jun 2026 11:56:30
And so it begins. Not even in the role 48hrs and McInnes' rumoured choice in signings is being questioned, unbelievable. Let's get the "Rangers man" in, he will get us back to our best. Let's have a Scottish core, that's what we are missing. Fast forward 48hrs, oh wait he isn't Rangers class, we are doomed if that's his choice of player.

Wow, says a lot about the mentality of some.

Can I ask all, what is Rangers class? When was the last time we signed someone that we all agreed was Rangers class? Personally I am a fan of Barron, yet the vast majority want him gone. How many games has he been the only one who showed a little fight for us? We are a squad full of duds.

19 Jun 2026 12:19:27
If you believe the rumours, Barron is part of the Fergie package, so Barron is not going to be here potentially.

19 Jun 2026 12:31:26
Weeker80, Devlin is Australian. 😉

19 Jun 2026 12:35:21
My info on Watt was he wanted to wait and see what his options south were, and Motherwell were asking way too much for a guy in the last year of his deal.

Makes sense to wait to the January window. Lets us assess manager and signings, and lets Watt see his options.

Maybe something can happen then on precontract basis if it suits both parties.

19 Jun 2026 12:38:26
Weeker, is what you're asking for complete and utter adherence and belief in every single player targeted by the manager/board? That will never happen and "Rangers class" doesn't come into it for me. The question is simply is he better than what we currently have and in my opinion he is not. I will happily change that opinion if he comes in and proves me wrong. Like everyone else, we are allowed to raise concerns or doubts and have preferences.

Plenty don't want McInnes, never mind the players, so you'll never get that complete uniformity in opinion. But you will get uniformity in the support offered. I said myself McInnes didn't excite me as an appointment, but I believe he's the right man and he'll get my full backing.

Same way I give my wife my full backing and support, but I don't need to agree with every view or decision of hers. Mental to think we just need to agree with every decision made.

19 Jun 2026 12:41:39
Also, for me, Devlin could be a good option that would let us use most of the funds in the area we need defense with Cornielious Tav Djiga Arrons possibly Souttar all going heavy investment in defenders needed.

19 Jun 2026 12:51:10
Devlin has had one good season, the rest of the time he has been a journeyman midfielder, hacking his way around Scottish football, if that is the level we are aiming at then we are well and truly screwed. At least Watt is a footballer not a plastic hard man.
The point being made about Devlin's disciplinary record is that he would get sent off playing for Rangers the way he does for Hearts.

We are getting McInnes and Shankland and now people want Devlin and Braga, they do remember Hearts were second last season, is that what we are aiming for too.

19 Jun 2026 12:58:45
Plus, Mystar hates him and his track record on mids ain't great, so he will do for me lol

Sorry, Mystar, had to. Just so unusual to see you negative on anything player wise.

19 Jun 2026 13:10:40
Most people would have taken Skov Olsen and not given Fernandez a chance because of the level he's come from, but he had a good season and his value is high at the moment, whereas Skov Olsen was very poor for us. The truth is that until they have played some games for us you just don't know which way it'll go.

19 Jun 2026 13:10:57
Forgot Meghoma too.

19 Jun 2026 13:14:02
For me, Devlin, Braga all depends on what fee is, Devlin OOC so don't see any risk in giving that a go. Can move him on or have break clause to protect us going forward if it doesn't work.

Braga, I would not pay high fee Hearts would want just yet, needs to prove way more for me and we still have Naderi, Miovski, Chermiti, Shankland, Danilo on books so can't see us adding to that just yet.

19 Jun 2026 13:35:41
What I'd give for a Stuart McCall right now.

I thought young Barron was going to be that for us. He's a terrier and so is Devlin. Although, Devlin does have a nasty streak which I don't like.

19 Jun 2026 13:38:05
Right now he wouldn't get in our side, Gofor, decent squad player, but certainly not a first choice or we have weaked out cm.

19 Jun 2026 14:49:15
So a lot do not rate Devlin, but who's to say, with better players around him, he is not going to go up a level.

We still have all this not Rangers class, what exactly is that going on with signings in recent seasons?

Let's go with the process that McInnes & Stig have bought into & look forward, or we are just going to go round in circles.

19 Jun 2026 15:15:35
I didn't say we all need to agree. My point was that the vast majority on here wanted McInnes, we got him, and now he is in the door, he is leading us to failure, back to RM days etc etc with the calibre of signings he is rumoured to be interested in.

And, for the record, McInnes wouldn't be my choice either, but here we have it. I will support, as I always do. And yes, 110% Devlin is an improvement on our current squad, which are at best atrocious.

19 Jun 2026 15:27:38
If McInnes wants him signed, that would work for me, weeker, personally don't think he's making our midfield better, saying that, I've probably never seen him playing ten games.

19 Jun 2026 15:55:44
Gazza, I said three are not now happening, we never called off all three.

19 Jun 2026 17:36:57
Gazza, I'd love a midfielder or two who can score a dozen goals each.

Jasp, is Devlin an upgrade on Barron? I don't think so. Remember, I'm not a Barron fan.

19 Jun 2026 20:22:05
McInnes worked with McKenna, quickest at Aberdeen at that time and a leftie, the new manager will come up with some surprises and some you will all say "oh aye him forgot about that guy". McCrorie mibbees another possible, I think he knows well. He will get some solid players. Grafters, we have some flair just now.

Put the holiday fund on Devlin for starters.

19 Jun 2026 21:31:22
My main point about Devlin is we already have a hard working, ball winning midfielder in Barron, both Raskin & Dio can work their arses off too when given a kick. We need creativity in midfield like Hagi was before his injuries, & a goal scorer from there like Celtic always seem to have. We need a 6 who controls the game, & Devlin simply isn't that player. Devlin simply isn't that, & that's why I said I'd rather have Watt cause he's closer to what we need, but I don't think he's the answer. Would rather sign Mulligan tbh.

There is a risk, even as a OOC, he could be absolute crap or get injured, then you're paying him, which can happen with anyone, & we could be stuck with him just like we've been with Matondo, Davies & Cifuentes.

Football here & everywhere isn't the same as when Walter was in charge. Back then we did have Scottish talent, but all top Scottish talent left, & the ones that remain aren't that great, not snobbery. I'd love Big Barney Stewart, could be the next Boyd but a bit faster, but he's going to England. Walter was also given time & was never sacked after a couple months cause we weren't close to Celtic or lost the league.

Those saying we need to get back to basics & it doesn't matter if it's nice, I hope you didn't complain when Rohl was doing those things & said his football was dire.

18 Jun 2026 21:28:17
Told Penrice is definitely signing.

18 Jun 2026 22:30:12
Good signing, sure Coop said he was definitely signing months ago.

19 Jun 2026 09:17:41
Bazbear, we know Penrice's aunty, and although she doesn't give too much away, we were interested in James Penrice in January and are interested again. 👍 She's desperate for him to sign with Rangers and she just laughs when you ask her if it's definitely happening. 😁

19 Jun 2026 09:56:33
Walter, I do wish people would not throw family members under the bus.

19 Jun 2026 10:18:30
So is penrice a definitely gurd or just mummerings

19 Jun 2026 10:58:58
I've thrown nobody under the bus, John. 🤔 I haven't named his aunty and wouldn't. 🤔 So don't know what harm in saying I know his aunty. 🤔

19 Jun 2026 11:49:53
Walter it would not take a genius to work out how many aunties he has.

Same re guy on here talking about grahams mum, not hard to work out who that is.

19 Jun 2026 12:33:17
John and what about when it is a board member the info has come from. is that not the same re identifying the source.

19 Jun 2026 12:43:37
John I agree. I think it's fine saying a family member because it keeps it vague but would never name them.

Protect source and have some respect is way I'd approach it.

19 Jun 2026 13:11:14
It's a definite, BlueDreamer.
But I can't / won't reveal my source.

19 Jun 2026 16:01:51
Angus, ex board members re transfers. If it were a board member, it narrows it down to 12.

Other info not hanging someone out to dry, ie behind scenes re activity.

As Forever says, be vague, ie family member, taxi driver, guy in flower shop.

We don't see EHL naming names, he's shrewd enough to protect his source.

19 Jun 2026 17:40:15
Sir Walter, sorry if my comment got you in trouble there, just thought I remembered you saying Penrice was signing a while ago, and thought you deserved some credit. Although I'm not sure how you betrayed any confidence there either. 🤔

19 Jun 2026 18:17:53
Baz, my post is about trying to get people to protect their source.

There was a young lad under Gerrard was moved on for relaying a story on social media.

18 Jun 2026 20:17:16
I see it's reporting in the record online not long ago that lewis Ferguson transfer possibly to Rangers has been accelarated by Derek McInnes and Ferguson has been told that McInnes is the perfect manager to get him back on track. 👍🇬🇧

18 Jun 2026 21:10:43
Back on track? Has he fallen off?

18 Jun 2026 21:24:36
Iron Rangers, he's not a starter for Bologna now I don't think.

18 Jun 2026 21:27:18
Ferguson will not be signing for Rangers even if his Dad was the manager.

18 Jun 2026 21:32:16
It was an opinion piece in the Record from Jamie Murphy.

Means little.

18 Jun 2026 22:04:07
I don't know where this 'not a starter' rubbish has come from. Yes, he was on bench more often after his injury, but he played 45 times for Bologna with 33 starts. They have a decent squad. He was returning from injury, so he didn't start every game. He is also their captain, which doesn't sound like there is an issue. Jeez.

18 Jun 2026 22:24:18
Ferguson played and captained in all 14 of Bologna's Europa League games last season, played in and captained them in 27 out of 38 league games, the games he missed out on were against the lesser teams. He had a thigh strain at the start of the season, missing a few games, then a calf strain mid-season. He missed a couple of games due to a suspension also. His manager at the time (Vincenzo Italiano) stated the games he was missing were due to conditioning because of niggling injuries, not because of ability.

Now Domenico Tedesco has been appointed Manager, and he, along with the board, are desperate to keep him at the club. He's been offered a wage increase thought to be putting his wages up to the EUR40, 000 (£35, 000) mark! I can't see him turning down those sort of wages to join us. Boyhood fan or not, he has a young family to think about, and playing football is a short career. Unless we offer him at least £30, 000 to £35, 000 per week it isn't happening.

18 Jun 2026 22:26:48
I put his stats up weeks ago, and he only started 12 games in the league or something like that, but started 90% of Europa games for them. I don't think he started 33 games for them last season, but could have checked the wrong site.

18 Jun 2026 22:27:49
I never checked cup games so he may have got to that amount.

18 Jun 2026 23:07:49
I honestly can't say I pay much attention to it. But did hear his dad say on Open Goal that he was in and out the side now and may look to move on.

19 Jun 2026 08:17:04
He started 17 games for them last season in league; he had 33 starts overall.

19 Jun 2026 09:22:31
I wouldn't be so sure, MPH, regarding Lewis Ferguson, mate. 🤔 Conflicting stories I'm hearing, ie. the deal is in the pipeline for after Scotland finish in the World Cup, and I have others telling me that it's not happening.

🤔 My own thoughts are I definitely wouldn't rule it out, and there's absolutely been dialogue between Rangers and Ferguson's agent, sounding this out, of that there's no doubt. 🤔

19 Jun 2026 12:48:05
For me, a season long loan makes sense for Ferguson, especially if he's not going to play as much this season for Bologna.

I don't know his situation, but if he is going to feature, he could stay where he is. Rangers will probably be an option every season for Ferguson, like it seems to have been for Kenny McLean.
