So the Champions League is where we want to be is it? Not for me! Ever since 92 when we had a chance of winning the disparity has been getting greater every year. It's now so bad that teams with rich history like us Celtic, Anderlect, Ajax, etc etc can't compete with side that play in 10,000 capacity tin sheds and will never be able to! The only chance of any result against a big side is when they are as good as on a bye week! No disrespect to Celtic meant but had the third side in that group been a better side than Borussia Monchengladbach, and there was a three way race for qualification, City would have won the game comfortably! Every non-delusional football fan can see this and should feel sick about it! An Atlantic League or similar is the only way forward if we want great European nights again! I'm am not interested in seeing my team, or even their team, getting kicked about Europe and made a laughing stock! Why do you think weight categories exist in other sports? Because a 120lb man stands no chance against a 320lb man! As supporters of these clubs it may be up to us to act as a catalyst for movement and change! #F**kUEFA.

It's shouldn't be called the champions league as it ain't the champions league. Just like celtics tournament they played in during the summer (international champions cup was it? ) not sure if that's correct but it was full of non champions. Surely calling a competition "champions" and having non champions in like selling a steak pie made of quorn.

good rant rfc lol!
so what if we get an atlantic league what teams would fill it and would there be a second tier if so what teams would want to go into that league as I don't think we an have a league without at leats one more devision in it .

that being said i'm all for it if we could get approval for it and a sponsor as big as sky like maybe virgin.

if we could get all this we would as fans be expected to go to the away games which is okay for the ones with money but not so much for the ones like myself if I wish to go to an away game.

im just pointing out flaws with this idea but because we can't get in England I agree we should try get this atlantic league ball rolling with backing form teams like ajax feyanord galatasarie fernebache aswell as some other small leagues I think people with a brain can get this done .

but doubt it will happen in the next ten years.

You'll struggle to find a pot 3 team stronger than monchengladbach.

RFC I understand what your saying. It is a shame when our actual goal is to still be in europe after christmas rather than ever thinking we have a chance, but it all comes down to money. The only way is having a league that people will want to watch, would an atlantic league generate more than champions league? not sure about that, but am sure celtic fans have the same view about our league. Again though who would people rather watch barcelona vs real or rangers vs anderlect? money money money that's all that works.

Lets call a spade a spade here, we would love Champs League night back but let's stop getting wrapped up with that mob across the City and their glorious point against Man City and let's worry abt ourselves as nothing they do will ever matter to us.

Rfc what a lot of bullocks.

If rangers were actually challenging to win the spfl, you would be cheering for the opportunity to be playing the elite in Europe by way of the champions league.

Yes i accept that it's not the tournament of champions, but can you imagine if it was 32 league champions, i can't envisage sky being interested in show Celtic v Malmo, or Lincoln red v Dundalk week after week. It what it is, and the case needs to be made to ensure the champions path route remains.

You can now concentrate on your beloved Chelsea playing in Europe. Or not.

I think it's a paradox where I would love us in the champions league playing the mega rich teams with club getting around £20 million. On the other hand we would get beat convincingly. I've heard talk about super leagues and Atlantic leagues for over 30 years now. I don't think it will ever happen. The structure is all wrong with CL and also the money in the game is beyond belief. We are not on same playing field as the big four countries.

so you like the champions league not having the champions in it but having 4 teams from the one country? what an absolute stupid comment scout it won't be that in a couple of years when Scotland don't have a spot.

Cee, i never said i like the group of large blocks from single nations, but would you pay good money to watch matches involving teams from Luxembourg play teans from Finland or teams from Israel play a team from Malta. I know it would not interest me. A more even mix is need and certainly not that planned for 2018 or 2021,

Having a strong tournament is requirement, in fact going back to a knock out tournament with just champions would be a backward step. and the Scottish champions who ever they are, need to be prepared.

I'd much rather see Manchester Utc, City, Arsenal, Bayern, Dortmund, Barca, Real etc than one from each country.

The dream right now is to get back into Europe, Celtic have the ' group of death', not all European games would be a hammering. The money we need to get back to challenging Celtic is only available in Europe.

By your logic most the sides we play should refuse to play us.

We are struggling against sides that have a very similar financial gap.

This is probably briefly most pathetic small minded comment on this site's history

Unless we get back to the champions league then what is the point?

To beat smaller Scottish clubs that have the same financial gap that you say renders the champions league meaningless.

If other Scottish clubs had shown your attitude then the club would have died.

Defnoboyscout, you have a very small or forgetfull mind, how many of these small teams have put you out of Europe over the past few years?
I for one don't mind a bit of banter but some of the sh:: on here from you guys is unbelievable, and both sides!
1/ champions league should be for champions only .
2/ sky TV money distribution disgusting .
3/ WeWILL BE BACK, and then you will turn into a seat again as you guys can't support your team as we have seen over the last three years when we haven't been there.
Who said we don't need the Gers, 3 rd division team with
higher attendances than any team in Scotland!
Rest my case part timers .

So what's the point of teams like Falkirk or St mirren or dunfermline trying to get into the premier league in Scotland? Should they all decide to say to the sfa, feck you we are forming a breakaway league of our own. No much point Newcastle or villa trying to get back to English premier league as they have no chance if your going with your reasons.

Why don't we just give up? Eh?

Unless we aim to get back to the top level then the detractors are right- we aren't rangers any more.

And these people are wrong.

I'd love the old firm getting into the epl but don't think it will ever happen pity tho Rangers v Chelsea or celtic v Liverpool would have a bigger aduiance than Stoke v west brom to be honest most of the bottom half of the epl is boring to watch the efl is better entertainment
This other euro Leauge won't happen ither sky and bt pull the strings they have every team in brittan by the baws.

Iamnoaboyscout the supprt from any club will pay to watch there team, even if its an atlantic league, its more about the money, granted your team will get money for reaching the group stages, but let's face it the money maybe cover an overdraught, but if we had a sponser willing to put money into a new league then the support could look forward to higher standered of player/ competition, i would love to give it a try, beacause without it oour clubs will always struggle, ok youse made it this season, one in three, if youse don't make it next season youse will struggle with wages/ overheads etc, any scottish club will always struggle against the big boys, so change would be a good thing imo,

Why wil Celtic park be empty February could you explain? Is it because we will be champs long before that and may get bored waiting for you lot to catch up.
