Read a lot about the other half having training behind closed doors this week and wee grif not fit but it's all smoke and mirrors he will start on Saturday I hope we still train and keep our focus on playing our own game.

Have been reading a lot over the past few days. Every rangers blogger/ poster talks about rangers and the strategy which needs to be used etc. Every celtic/ rest of spfl blogger seems to be talking about. rangers. Seems a little strange that every1 is interested in rangers which surely means we are doing alright. Tired of all the down playing of what rangers have achieved so far. Yes we want out performances to be a little sleeker but we r still second in the league. If we stay there the rest of the season, a will be happy.

2.) 08 Sep 2016 19:59:38
Four games. No defeats. No genuine fast direct midfielder, which is a must for the way we play.

Holt and Windass returning changes our entire fortune in creating chances and taking them.

We've started all four games with at least two holding midfielders which is absolutely no help at all, completely destroys our creativity.

Windass and Holt are going to make a massive difference.

3.) 08 Sep 2016 20:46:49
Holt has been mist with his directness
Windass looks a great buy he's like a wasp on the park and I've heard garner is aswell
We all have different opinions on who should start where and how we should play
The good thing is we have choices and players that will improve
The other half don't impress me defensively and if griff is not playing we should out score them
I think our players passion will shine threw on sat plus the fact everyone bar Rangers fans have wrote us off will inspire us to get right in about them
#55 BUZZIN 1 sleep and an all nighter to go.

4.) 09 Sep 2016 00:10:20
Absolutely agree about Windass he needs to be one of the midfield 3. Direct running committing defenders and creating space.
Barton Rossiter Windass
Would be my midfield.
Waggy Garner Nico
My front 3.

5.) 09 Sep 2016 10:08:12
Halliday Barton (just ahead of Rossiter due to experience) Toss up between the energy of Windass and the quality of Kranjcar 1 starting the other coming on after 60 mins.
McKay Miller o'Halloran just for sheer pace in behind.
Although leaving Forrester out would be unfair.
I think he will play Halliday Barton Forrester in middle, McKay Miller Waghorn up top but if Holt is ready he will get nod ahead of Forrester who would then replace Wags.
Exciting squad we have and we will win 3-1 Miller to score anytime 🔴⚪️🔵.

6.) 09 Sep 2016 10:49:15
Forester started three out of the first four games and his assist was nothing short of magic for the Waghorn goal against Hamilton when he came on.

His goal against Dundee was outstanding and no one else on the field could have scored in that way.

He scored against Motherwell.

And against Kilmarnock every player found it difficult to be at their best.

He is not being left out. Imagine it'd be a midfield three of Halliday-Barton-Forrester.

Up front, McKay is starting, guaranteed, as is Miller. The right flank will likely be a choice between MOH, Waghorn and Forrester (Windass replacing him in the centre of the park) .

Defence bound to be Keirnan and Senderos. Didn't seem sure the press conference that Wilson would be ready.

7.) 09 Sep 2016 12:18:30
It is a nice change to be talking about who plays and who is left out rather than the situation that we have seen in the past where we were lucky to field eleven players and in the McCoist Era where there were no more than one or two that were fit to wear the jersey.

This will show Warburton and Co's skill as managers and coaches since the team will need to vary depending on the opposition and who is fit and who isn't. He might want to play an additional defensive player to cover the back four, (in the way that did with Ball) . Only time will tell.

One thing is for sure, this won't be a game for the fainthearted and the referee will need to be as committed to handling the occasion as the players are at giving it 100%.

I wouldn't dare guess the team! I suspect that for this game Halliday will play, Rossiter will be on the bench, but how attack minded will we be? I don't believe that we can be anything else.

8.) 10 Sep 2016 15:03:17
Leagues over fellow bears kept sayib this from day bloody one o'halloran can't get game for sum or wotever reason wich is beyond believe n his pace would have helped big time against celtic. And if this rob keirnan keeps playin thn we have huge major problems warburton to me does not have a clue.

9.) 10 Sep 2016 16:15:46
Rangers haven't kicked a ball since semi Final last season FACT
Rob Keirnan is murder FACT
We won't win the title this year FACT.

10.) 10 Sep 2016 21:00:15
Agree Barry but plus point must be the performance of Windass. He looks like a great find.

11.) 11 Sep 2016 00:44:19
This is an example of be careful what you wish for. we became paranoid about Wilson and Kiernan after we fell away last 6 games of the Season including Cup Final. reality is before that our defensive record was best in league by a mile. and both were terrific in Semi v Celtic. our whole team was fkd at end of last season due to thinness of squad. kiernan was poor today but the abuse he's been suffering is getting to him. Hill Kranjkar and Barton are massive failures.3 over the hill stars. and senderos the latest has been. i'd play wilson n kiernan with crooks in Dom Ball role. holt must come back in asap. only midfielder we have who runs into the box. i'd release hill kranjcar n barton at xmas.

12.) 11 Sep 2016 02:09:46
Windass, holt and rossiter every day of week that the 3 end of forrester is another starter the rest of places are up for grabs.

13.) 11 Sep 2016 12:46:07
Absolute pure gutted gers fans that was ah hammerin simple as that do i think we can get revenge at ibrox yes but we could be behind still in the league, kiernan has to be dropped n that's that i feel sorry on him but he's had chances, why is ohalloran not getting game is absolute beyond this planet totall joke the fastest player in scotland and we are ruinin the boys career.

14.) 11 Sep 2016 14:40:39
dont know if this is the wake up call we need or we should have had at the end of last season?
just shows how far away we really are.

and barrymiddleton i was thinking the same about o'halloran. the guy is either not doing it in training (which i doubt) or warburton/ weir don't rate him as a player?

think a rejig of players and try a new system might be good

the boy on loan from raith might have to get a game now senderos and keirnan are out.

{Ed039's Note - MOH simple passing is poor and I think this is why he doesn't get a game)

15.) 12 Sep 2016 07:45:58
Passing is not his game Ed. he beats men to the byline and runs on to the long ball over the top, with his sheer electric pace. i'd give him a shot up front through the middle. convert him like Cannigia and Lovenkrands. he can't be any worse than what we've got. Miller can't go on forever waggy is becoming injury prone. mackay has been awful this season. his miss at 2-1 changed the whole game and probs the whole season.

{Ed039's Note - I know passing is not his game and that is the point I am trying to make, MW tactics are all possession based and when a player loses simple possession of the ball then it goes against him, I agree with everything you say and I would like to see him play also but we don't pick them team and there are reasons he is not playing and I believe this to be the reason)

16.) 12 Sep 2016 11:10:17
I don't think Warburton knows how to use pace in his team. To chase O'Halloran for weeks and then only give him 3 first team starts is a mystery. We are ponderous in build up play, Saturdays team selection was a disaster. Everyone except Warbs knew game would pass Kranjcar by, Miller gives effort but wanders all over the pitch so team loses shape. To drop Halliday was a mystery.

17.) 12 Sep 2016 12:53:18
Ed michael o'halloran would be in my team every week garunteed this is the same guy tht ripped n tore us apart it ibrox in the cup now we let him rot for what he's only 25 he was the perfect player to play against the tims with tht blisterin pace to get behing tht dodgy celtic back 4 instead we play kenny miller out wide was never going to hurt there defence never in million years, and if warburton doesn't go back to the hh halliday and holt partnership wich was so effective last season then were going to be run over in midfield he has to stop this wanna be Barcelona 433 formation were playin in the spl not la liga for christ sake go back to the walter smith tactics again or somthin were we at least dominated and suffocate the hell out of teams.

{Ed039's Note - I agree with everything you are saying mate but the gaffer obviously has his own ideas, I for one can not wait for Jason Holt to return, such a busy little player with a touch of quality)

24 Aug 2016 20:52:44
I definitely think we will spend money on a CB before next week as I think if we can spend to bring in garner then there must be funds for a decent CB it will make no sense if we are top heavy everybody and there dog knows we need a CB soon.

Humey

1.) 24 Aug 2016 21:59:27
Senderos deal will (hopefully) be concluded soon, Crooks is back after featuring in 20s match last night that should help at the back for now.
If any1 of interest becomes available on loan at end of transfer window we may act but squad looks good. Only position we are a little light is full back with only Hodson for back up, I know he can play both sides but any injury to the 3 and we have no back up.

2.) 24 Aug 2016 22:57:07
2 priorities required after last season. a dominant centre back and a plan B striker with a physical presence. We have yet to buy either and the clock is ticking.

3.) 24 Aug 2016 23:54:28
Ally, I believe garner is hopefully the answer to your second problem there mate.

4.) 25 Aug 2016 00:10:29
What do you call garner.

5.) 25 Aug 2016 08:58:51
Garner is as physical as Kenny Miller, he is a nuisance player, not about to dominate any 6ft 4 defenders in the air, and as we don't play long balls, that would be inadequate anyway.

As for spending money on a CB. why spend money that we don't actually have? Or are you looking for the return of Murrays Moonbeams?
Live within our means is the new order and to be honest if that means playing 2nd fiddle until we are in a position to pay fees again, so be it, I would rather finish 2nd than not at all.

6.) 25 Aug 2016 09:04:07
Garner is 5 foot 10 and about 9st lol😁 hardly a big physical presence.

7.) 25 Aug 2016 11:21:53
got to spend money to make money in this instance.
if we don't get va quick solid cb for me we will be found wanting in the big games.
if we do spend something on a cb we may be rewarded with champions league football rangers need to get to the group stages of the champions league to get back to the level of player we are used to.

8.) 25 Aug 2016 14:10:01
How can you disagree the guys official page has him at 5 foot 10 weighing 9 stone 7 it's fact nothing to disagree with here, move along .

9.) 25 Aug 2016 14:31:05
Some people struggle with facts fabadabadoo. Unwelcome reminder of reality.

17 Aug 2016 14:15:36
I've read a lot about offers for tav is there any real truth in them I like him going forward that's it if we could get 1 maybe 2 mil I'd take it all day long and invest it back in our defence.

Humey

1.) 17 Aug 2016 12:35:01
The team that were in for tav apparently bought another RB for over 1 mil so doubt that they will go for tav also.

2.) 17 Aug 2016 12:45:26
normally i would agree with you on tav but burnley game aside where the whole team didn't perform i think tavs had a very decent start to the season and was my MOTM for the dundee game mainly for his defensive work.

3.) 17 Aug 2016 12:46:21
1 maybe 2 million u will eat your words in a year or two when we take between 4 and 8 millioin depending on how we do in the league. one of our best players last season can't believe there are bears out there that don't want him here or are willing to settly for pennys for him.

4.) 17 Aug 2016 13:05:27
Tav has to stay. plays a massive part in a lot of our goals. that's hard to replace especially for a rb.

5.) 17 Aug 2016 13:32:53
don't believe Tav was ever in danger or interested in going anywhere certainly not Turkey.

6.) 17 Aug 2016 13:44:31
Tavernier is arguably our best defensive player and he adds significantly to our goals and assists. Defensively he is at least as good as Wallace but little is said of Wallace's defensive frailty. Our problems stem from our centre backs and the historic lack of quality defensive midfield players. With Halliday still deployed in a defensive midfield role that still remains an issue but objectively, when Crooks is fit that problem will be resolved.

7.) 17 Aug 2016 13:50:03
Garner having medical now.

8.) 17 Aug 2016 14:03:58
Warburton said there has been no contact for any rangers players, so make of that what you will.

9.) 17 Aug 2016 14:07:48
Think it was the media in scotland trying to cause disharmony as per.

I was one who would have taken £2.5m for Tav had it been offered purely because I felt he can't defend but that opinion has very much changed as the last couple of games he has looked solid and doesn't seem to go gallavanting up the pitch as often, since then he's actually seemed like a good defender.

10.) 17 Aug 2016 14:13:20
TAVS going nowhere guys!

11.) 17 Aug 2016 14:20:02
If we do sell tav I think we should go after hearts RB Callum Paterson. He would be a good replacement and he is only 21.

12.) 17 Aug 2016 14:29:34
Tav does seem to have stepped up for me in the past couple of games. Will see for myself against Motherwell this weekend but in a season or two I agree he has the potential to be a 5 mill player, so hang on to him.

13.) 17 Aug 2016 14:55:20
One of the best players we've got for 1-2 mill. absolutely mental.

14.) 17 Aug 2016 15:10:35
Get Tav back on freekick duties, are you listening Joey.

15.) 17 Aug 2016 15:21:39
tom42 I agree with you on the tav issue obviously but I don't think we are short of defensive mids barton, rossiter and crooks all play in that position and rossiter for me is one of the first names on the team sheet.

16.) 17 Aug 2016 15:32:04
Lee Wallace is our best defensive player and arguably one of our best players. Hence player of season etc etc. Tav is a great player. Scored some good goals in a Mickey Mouse league. Surprised Foderingham didn't get a few. I agree Tav has worked on his defending and has looked better the last few games. However, I have seen his weaknesses exploited and if we were playing better teams, we would've shifted more goals versus well, Hamilton and Dundee. I fear if we play Tav against that mob, we will get hammered. Not all his fault but need to be more defensive against that mob. Hodson. In fact I would go 5 at back, 3 CHs and then allow Tav and Wallace to play wing back. But MW is a one formation guy so I'm not looking forward to it tbh.

17.) 17 Aug 2016 15:50:20
Didn't rip us the last time as Tav was played in a more reserved role.

18.) 17 Aug 2016 17:32:15
Let's judge our player's over a season rather than a few games.

Tav at the very least has earned a shot at the spl. I don't get the fans that want him dropped or sold. If the Turks want to pay silly money then fair enough.

Media in Scotland is part of the problem - every time there is a decent player in Scotland they do their best to unsettle them. We should be desperately trying to keep talent not trying to convince them they are too good for us.

19.) 17 Aug 2016 18:19:36
James Stirling, I agree 100%. As soon as Crooks is fit I reckon we will have the best defensive midfield in Scottish Football. Ineed, as things look at the moment with the likely striker and defender signings we will be difficult to beat by anyone!

20.) 17 Aug 2016 18:38:52
BBW if Wallace is arguably our best player then I fear for us big time he is shocking defensively and worse than tav but gets away with it because he is captain and stayed for the journey IMHO.

21.) 17 Aug 2016 20:16:25
Nope. Can't agree with that. Wallace runs the full length of the park for 90mins. What an engine that guy has. He's not invincible and has the odd mistake. IMHO he is class. True athlete and professional. Aye agree that Tav deserves his shot in SPL. If he just learns when to bomb forward and when to hang back. He could be best RB in SPL no doubt.

22.) 18 Aug 2016 11:16:15
also Wallace is the best left back in Scottish football including his defending gannet ya bunnet.

I read warbs said hill will handle the old firm if that is true he must be playing the big man. I think at Hamden we will get picked off as hill is too slow so we will have to sit in deep then when we press they will get the ball in behind.

Time we got a nasty streak into our game I know football has moved on but likes of hill and keirnan should be bullying young guys like dembele! In my day old school center halfs used every trick in the book, doesn't seem to happen now.

24 Sep 2016 21:19:56
They won 6-1. I hate to admit it but we are not yet ready to challenge for first I'd take second right now
Other teams seem to lie down to them we must beat the sheep tomorrow they 3 points are badly needed.

Humey

1.) 24 Sep 2016 22:00:15
How can you say Killie lay down to them when a few weeks ago we got pumped by a similar scoreline!

Let's face facts, Celtic are the reigning champions and are dominating domestically as champions should. It's down to us to close that gap as the reality is teams like Aberdeen and Hearts, for all their efforts, just don't have the capacity to challenge Celtic. (financially, retaining players, youth development etc)

I'd take top 4 this season. Can see consistency being an issue for us this term.

2.) 24 Sep 2016 21:48:37
We won't get 1st this season anyway. 2nd place and qualify for europe. League cup would be a success judging where we were last couple of seasons too.

3.) 24 Sep 2016 22:08:37
Humey no panic it is a long season, yes it will be great to
get the three points but if we don't and play well then it's not the end of the world .
Europe main aim this year ( 3rd) phase then move on, as I have said before Ashley is holding us back and until we see the back of him we have to go the way we are .
Got a good feel about the squad and the back room / scouting staff etc, let's give them realistic time to gel and see where we are in three months .

4.) 24 Sep 2016 22:36:13
Agree Brian -p let's have some patience and have realistic target for this season.

5.) 25 Sep 2016 06:37:16
I totally agree with Ashley holding us back without retail we are never going to compete with Celtic financially.

Wish there was a clear cut way of getting out of the deal but seems not.

Until then it will be a hard job to finish above them in all honesty.

We'd need to have great vision in the transfer market/ bring thru top class youngsters plus keep our best players.

6.) 25 Sep 2016 10:34:20
On commercial terms Celtic are miles ahead of us at the moment and they only made 4.3 (maybe 4.7 million) profit from merchandise according to their recent set of figures.

Now if we assume that we could do as well (which we wouldn't) then that means we would have an extra 4.3 (4.7) million added to our turnover. So while this would help us out financially, we would still have to borrow to meet operating costs. Please keep in mind that our debt has risen 24.1 million in a 13 month period since King took charge. If we had a better retail deal, it would have meant it only rose about 20 million.

Our current retail deal with Ashley is being used as a smoke screen and is being used to blame all our financial woes on, which as I have just highlighted is simply not the case.

To those thinking that a more preferable retail deal would mean we could compete with Celtic consider this.

Celtic are on course to have a turnover in excess of 70 million this season and we are on course to have a turnover of 25 million this season. Adding 5 million to our turnover would mean there is still a 40 million difference between us and Celtic. So as you can see the retail deal is not the only thing we need to sort before we can compete with Celtic.

7.) 25 Sep 2016 21:57:17
It is a long season and so long as every player that plays gives 100% and takes no prisoners and we play as a team then the league is a long way from over. We shouldn't give the league to them until it is mathematically impossible for them to win, as a species we are better than them and we should never forget it.

8.) 25 Sep 2016 22:27:32
Second spot is being realistic anything less is not good enough
We got beat because we put the rong team out and tactically got it rong and big send getting sent off didn't help
I have patience I've waited four years we have a good enuff team to challange no pre season slowed us down and injurys I understand that
But we need those 3 points tomoro to keep the momentum going into this semi final.

Warbs on sky sports said we would like to bring in 1 or 2 more and if we don't get the right players in he's happy with what we have got
I don't think most rangers fans feel the same in fact I think 99 percent of The fans are quite unhappy with our defence the way it is and think if it's not sorted soon we will leak goals especially off the bigger teams
If we get our defence sorted we have got a real chance of winning this league if we don't bring in quality we will finish 4 th
My option.

Humey

1.) 04 Aug 2016 13:45:31
I agree 100% Humey. You just need to look at what Walter Smith did when he came back. He sorted out the defence first and foremost and made the team hard to beat. We didn't play as eye catching football but it worked. I think MWs philosophy is great but you can't go into games thinking you will simply outscore the other team to win. Everyone knows there will the be odd game where things just don't fall our way up front or their keeper has a blinder and it turns out to be a defeat instead of a draw simply because our defence will leak goals the way it is.

2.) 04 Aug 2016 14:22:30
Yeah Walter gave us anti football I'm sure we can tighten up without going there.

3.) 04 Aug 2016 15:12:09
Walter gave us trophies, and plenty of them.

4.) 04 Aug 2016 15:12:42
If we can't get players there is still plenty we can do - practice defending crosses and corners for a start.

I honestly don't think all blame for our defensive woes is the players fault.

I'm not a football coach and even I can see how yo get at our defence.

5.) 04 Aug 2016 17:29:05
I wouldn't pay to watch another Walter Smith team trophies or not! This prehistoric rhetoric that is being spouted by the likes of Billy Brown needs to end! Scottish football needs to evolve and fast if it's to survive and resorting to the neanderthal, clogger approach they teach kids in this country will bury us! The fans on here shouting for us to go 442 etc should go support Aberdeen!

6.) 04 Aug 2016 17:15:33
Sensible post, don't like when manager says things like" if we don't get what we want I'm happy with what we got" although some people on here are "magic hat" sycophants, they cudnt get their heads around the fact that football managers lie, its part of their dna, tho I do think DK will ensure we get a solid defender in, he was brought up watching the best, and the best, Goughy, is his pal so he will have let him know.

7.) 06 Aug 2016 14:37:02
Unbelievable, the criticism of our second greatest manager, you are not Rangers fans, Walter brought us Gazza, Laudro, goughy, amo, papac, jela, and many others, he did what he had to do, to make Rangers winners over a sellik team who became used to winning, before that he won the most league titles and trophy's than any manager in Scottish football history, and you " Rangers fans" say he brought us anti football? If you are Rangers fans, Il bet you were all round your telly screaming how good we were, now your all sycophants of the " magic hat" over a true Rangers great. , pathetic
Tommy.

Bradshaw hands in written transfer request. come warbs get him up here and threw door at ibrox he's not ronaldo but he's got potential and is a consistent goal scorer.

Humey

1.) 13 Jul 2016 17:23:37
Hate to say it humey thought Bradshaw could of been a good one, think he's championship bound! I like some of the signings and I am quite happy, but we have barely spent a penny and would have liked some money spent on the centre forward, not a loan in Dodoo.

It baffles me why we always have to have players that can rotate the front line, the players we have now all we need is a goalsscorer, I just hope it doesn't come back to haunt us, I was never meaning millions but maybe £800,000k to a mil would have been okay surely.

2.) 14 Jul 2016 12:46:13
Spending money doesn't meen that the player will be a success but I was hopeful of getting Bradshaw in he's at the right age he would fit right in but I do think we need sum more hight up front

The forwards will be up against bigger defenders so i'd like 2 more up top a finisher and a big striker to cause the defenders problems Miller and wags are not that tall we need some musical up top just my opinion.

And Sunderland want anyone that will help them from going down because that's were there going, who would want to play for a bottom 6 team in the epl unless it's your own team, they go for the money and maybe a chance of getting a better deal some where else.

Just reading there he went on his own accord his own money proves to me he's up for the fight.
He could have easily have stayed in Glasgow and trained with the youth team or on his own.
I don't care about the betting, most players do, we should get behind every player.

That game only suited him because it was a slow game I'm his biggest fan but he's miles off the pace his high tackles are hard to watch he's got ability he has to come on at half time and change games for me.
