Given the players who could be set for a departure in the summer, how many players will we need to bring in to strengthen the squad for the top division? How many players do we have have for next season that aren't currently on loan or could leave in the summer?
GK - Foderingham/Kelly
DF - Keirnan/Wilson
DF - Tavernier/Wallace
MF - Halliday/Holt/Thompson/Mckay
ST - Miller/Hardie/Waghorn
Obviously there will be other loan signings made in the summer and some permanent moves also.
By the looks of the squad though, as many as ten players could be required in the summer.

Yeah you could be right however think 2 or 3 players will be signed in January. However can't see many of any of the players out of contract getting another one and think there is maybe about 6 of them. Still a lot of work to be done not only to win league but also build a team to challenge in the premiership.

The amount of numbers we brought in this season is immense and all of them have made an impact.
On the other hand it is becoming evident with every game that they are a little exhausted and need reinforcements in order for some players to recharge the batteries.
Most would say you can't bring in too many players in January because it would upset the harmony of the squad. Not asking for five or six players to go straight into the first team in January. Just three or four who can help with the depth of the squad and add much needed quality in certain areas.

Sorry but can't buy into this exhausted nonsense. These players are professionals and should be at their peak fitness. Playing games is what they are training for and to say they are tired is just a lame excuse. Strange how the teams that win the World Cup and Euro championship finals never complain about exhaustion.

It really isn't nonsense.
What it is is simple fact.
Players need to be rotated. James Tavernier, Rob Keirnan, Lee Wallace, Martyn Waghorn, Andy Halliday, Wes Foderingham and Barry McKay have played almost if not every game this season and we're about half way through.
Nathan Oduwa has been in and out as has Danny Wilson, Kenny Miller, Gedion Zelalem and Dominic Ball whilst Clark, Shiels and Law have often come off the bench.
Not only do we not have the numbers to really cope with a long season in the championship, we don't have the quality coming off the bench. It's the same players pretty much every game with one change here and there.
The squad simply isn't strong enough just now.

Running around for 90 mins once a week isn't exactly exhausting. You never hear referees or linesman complaining and they dint get to stop unlike players.

albertz, players do get physically tired no matter if you pay them a grand a week or 30,000 a week, its a fact, ibrox is a massive pitch and playing the way we do is undeniably tiring, unless of course you have done it.

Albertz, yip I agree mate, people only need to look at the andy murrays of this wee country of ours, andy runs around using every muscle in his body for 4 sometimes 5 hours a t a time in the searing heat, no probs to him, no complaining from him or the other tennis player they put in harder shifts every day on the practice courts.

Davie Weir played over 60 games at 38 in the season we went to Manchester. No problem for him. These boys are mostly in their early 20s. If they are "exhausted" there's something wrong.
