i think the outcome of the tax case will be the biggest moment in our clubs history, craig whyte looks out of his depth i dont think he has the mettle to lead rangers and be the leader we need, theres a difference between running a "normal" business and a football club how many shops etc have hords of loyal fans with expectations and demands, i know its been testing times all round but the way we have conducted our business has left a bad taste in the mouth this just isnt the rangers way-whyte came in for us when no one else wanted to buy us-maybe because of the after effects of the madness of the murray era, but 1 thing remains a win over them will put us 4 points clear and the pendulum will have swung our way-we have a chance to get ourselfs off the front pages and back on the back pages for a day or 2-after all the business is football and lets get down to it!
no matter what this club will out see us- a result tomorrow will be the shot in the arm we need! if ever we need a performance to boost the fans and everyone around the club its now! ive a little feeling an unknown aussie might have a big part to play-come on rangers, stand up and stand tall-we are the champions

Agree0 Disagree3

Im not being an arse, youve just got your head stuck up yours pal-this has been a circus act lately i supported his take over but we dont seem to have had any good press sinces he`s came in,look at the transfer dealings-terrible efforts looked cheaper than jordan on a night out-laughing stock- i hope for his and our sakes we get away with the tax bill-after all its not his doing nor is it ours but we are the ones left to deal with it -if celtic win what will you all be saying...

ALLY McCOIST cast a careful eye over a strong Rangers side as they cruised to a 4-0 win over Kilmarnock this afternoon.

Goals from David Healy and John Fleck combined with two own goals from the visitors made it a comfortable afternoon for a reserve side featuring some serious first team contenders.

Lee McCulloch and Matt McKay both featured for an hour while Healy played the first 45 minutes and Fleck, Ross Perry and Neil Alexander all completed a full match.

There was also a 90 minute outing for on-trial Argentinian Matias Abelairas who partnered McCulloch at the heart of midfield.

McKay, playing wide on the left of a four man midfield set up the first real chance of the match for Healy after 18 minutes but the visiting keeper did well to block.

The Ulsterman wasn't to be denied for too long though when he met another McKay delivery to rifle home from the edge of the box after 20 minutes.

Ten minutes later the home side doubled their advantage when neat work from Salim Kerkar on the left led to Mohamadou Sissoko turning the ball in to his own net.

And with five minutes of the half remaining Fleck made it three for the Light Blues when he was quickest to the ball to round the keeper and roll home from an angle.

Half time signalled the end of involvement for Healy with Rhys McCabe taking his place as the only change of the interval.

Within 10 minutes of the action resuming the Light Blues had wrapped things up with another own goal created by Kerkar, this time Leon Panikvar was the man turning the ball home.

That prompted further changes for the home side with McKay and McCulloch withdrawn from midfield in favour of Andy Mitchell and Chris Hegarty.

Kerkar was then replaced late on by under-19 striker Jack Werndly, but the home side couldn't add to their scoring.

RANGERS: Alexander; McMillan, Perry, Cole, Kerkar (Werndly 75); Bendiksen, McCulloch (Mitchell 60), Abelairas, McKay (Hegarty 60); Healy (McCabe 46), Fleck.

We should go for the jugular. Don't play any deadwood or people coming back from injury. My Team= McGregor, (Whittaker or Ortiz), Goian and Perry, Bocanegra, Wylde, McKay and Davis, Naismith, Lafferty and Jelavic.

This team would definately win, what do you think. WATP

Believable6 Unbelievable1

I would hav nearly th same team, i would play papac at lb and bocanegra at rb. No whitaker or ortiz! 2-0 to tha gers.
Big bear WATP!

Agree1 Disagree1

Dont play anyone coming back from injury and you have jelavic in your team, sure he came back from injury

Agree1 Disagree2

Don't think perry is experienced enough to start in such a big game. ONly once he gets a run of 6-7 games and we know what he's good at should we consider putting him in the 1st 11 for the old firm.

Agree1 Disagree1

Perry showed in games he played he's ready. Him an Goian were a good partnership, also fast and mobile. I would only play Bocanegra cause Papac has been out for a while. Ally for god sake don't play McCulloch. WATP

Edu will start... Shame but he will.

To all those people who say playing in Europe in midweek has no bearing on performance come the weekend answer me this.
Why do most of the English clubs field second sides in the champions league group stages and Europa league?

Of course Celtic are going to be weakened by their european exploits on Thursday night, just like we have been in previous seasons when they have already been put out, that's the reason Celtic looked a better team than us from January onwards, we didn't cope well with our squad size playing midweek european games then an old firm at the weekend. It wasn't until Walter decided to rest players against psv second leg in preference to the cup final against Celtic that our form picked up again. He more or less came right out and said in numerous interviews that he was happy to be out of Europe because the league was more important for the club (Champions league money).
We have in this league a deranged view of European football, we fight to win the league to get champions league money then settle for not progressing in the competition just as long as we make the group stage which in turn damages the coefficient which makes it Harder for us to get there in the first place. I wish Celtic all the best in the Europa league but if they progress from the group stage there will come a point where Lennon will sacrifice going through in Europe for the sake of winning the league. It's more important to beat us for the fans and his job.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Very simple response, we weren't last year. Deal with it, you don't deserve to be in Europe and now you are moaning about the effect it has on players. Pep Guardiola actually says that he feels his players are sharper if they are playing midweek and weekends. Celtic fans are never happy.

GovanFR

Agree1 Disagree3

At what point did I say I was a Celtic fan? The point I'm making is they are weakened for tomorrow's game and therefore we should be beating them just like they did to us last season when we were in Europe and they were out. Simples. Stop thinking everyone is timalloy in disguise just because I said good luck to Celtic in Europe. We need all our teams to do better in Europe for us to improve as a country. But being in Europe is detrimental to league performance as we have shown in previous years, just look at the stats of our results after European games. It's not pretty. Now Celtic have to deal with it and we don't.

Agree2 Disagree0

And to be honest pep has inherited the best squad of players in there prime the world has seen, he has added a few of his own but the basis of that team has just been waiting to hit it's peak. You can't speak about him as great know it all quite yet, he's still a new manager in my book. That team is the one that deserves the praise not the manager. It's barca the club that has been planning for years for this team to come to the fore, you just need to look at the amount of players coming out their youth teams to acknowledge that.

Agree2 Disagree1

Last season we played Valencia and then played Celtic away at the weekend, we won the game 3-1. We also played PSV and then beat Celtic in the cup final. There is no adverse effect, how many times did Walter Smith say there is mental tiredness not physical, especially not at this stage of the season.

I think both Old Firm clubs are really in a bad state, from a Rangers viewpoint, although they were away both our European conquerors were swept aside in Europa League. The mhanky mob were awful, our game is in real trouble

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Thanks for cheering everyone up on the eve of an Old Firm game. You are Mr optimistic !! Rangers will trump the shameless runners up of Scotland ( world record holders for that runners up stat ) Let's see if that puts a smile on yer unhappy face, ya f**king profit of DOOM.........3v1 and 4 in a row

Agree2 Disagree0

Lets face it, both records are pretty similar really as far as recent history goes. We pretty much give the commentators all the negative ammunition they need to knock the SPL but the fact is that English teams would be in the same boat if were not for Sky sponsorship. If Scottish teams can encourage young British and Irish players to come through the ranks and invest in the youth and give them their chance then that could create a decent footballing environment where kids could look up to local heroes instead of flooding the market with poor quality foreign duds, which both halves of the old firm have been guilty of. We should move back to the days of fielding a maximum number of foreign players and if the SFA makes a positive stance on this then it can only benefit the game. There would be a benefit for clubs to develop players as there would be opportunities for them to play. Levein and Houston would take all the Scotland team from EPL if they could and they have openly admitted it! Where would that leave the game up here? The Scottish game is not as down and out as everyone would have us believe, its just an easy target for now. Remember, last season Rangers progressed to the same stage of the Europa league as Man City and Liverpool with all their millions so a bit of a stutter this season for both teams should be looked at as just that. Good luck to Celtic in your European exploits but leave your good form in Europe ;)

Agree2 Disagree2

Local hero's like Gary O'Connor??? lol

pappy

Agree1 Disagree1

The big English clubs don't give a toss about the Europa league/ uefa cup and haven't for a number of years, they field weaker teams and see it more like the carling cup. Any 5th placed EPL side should be able to win the europa league because let's face it the four teams above them all make it to the quarter finals and beyond in the champions league. With the exception of barcelona English clubs are the dominant force in European football these days, we even had England's fourth placed club win the champions league in recent times (Liverpool). The second tier european competition only really interests the smaller English clubs ie fulham. That's why both rangers and celtics final appearances were never given any real credit amongst the English media. The majority of England were unaware we were playing in manchester until we destroyed the place. I even had mancunians come up to me the day of the final asking what we were doing there! Don't use rangers getting to the same round as man city and Liverpool as a barometer of success because these clubs didn't give the competion the respect it deserves. Top four is all that matters to them.

Agree3 Disagree1

I think that with the depth of squad these teams have that they should have a strong enough team to compete on all fronts, its there job for God's sake! I think it is great to use the excuse that the trophy means nothing to you just cos you get knocked out but the reality is that teams want to win trophies and even if you use the likes of Fulham as the barometer of success then the money that they bring in along with pulling power is far greater than the old firm can currently offer. Too much credence is given to what the opinion of the English media is of our game and we really need to start thinking about how we can appeal to the kids and convince them to grow up supporting a Scottish team first and foremost and then a foreign team second. Most of the crap that goes on between the old firm doesn't help but at least if there was a quality footballing product then there would be potential for attracting major investment and to be great again!
