Does anybody else think that Craig Whyte is getting dodgier by the minute. (Worried Rangers supporter)

Personally I don't think Craig White is the dodgy one! Looks likes the muppets that were running the club might be the ones with something to hide! Hence why they tried blocking the takeover! Good riddance to them all. . Here's to a even more successful future. WATP

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Like a lot of other Gers fans, i was always wanting to know where all the money was going to. We've had money coming in from Europe on a regular basis but we never really seemed to put it into the transfer kitty & if you look at our transfers for the past few years, it shows we haven't made many but a lot of players have left, especially 2009, 14 players out, no players in. I think Whyte is right to get rid of certain people, he's a business man & has had his lawyers etc have a really good look at the books, finalised his deal, then has wielded his sword.

Does anybody else think that Craig Whyte is getting dodgier by the minute. (Worried Rangers supporter)

Believable3 Unbelievable8

Mate chill these things allways happen when someone takes over a new club he will want people he trusts in those positions, I for one have allways thaught that Bain seemed dodgy and if there has been any irregularities as reported I would be doing the same thing as mr whyte

Agree4 Disagree1

The board issue has been taken out of proportion really.
craig whyte would not want a rival bidder in his board (paul murray) alastair johnston had said he was going to resign and as for bain and mcintyre they are accused of backing the rival bid.
this is not really going to effect much in terms of football as new board members will be brought in and things will continue as usual

Agree1 Disagree1

Why because he gets rid of the board thst tried to oppose his takeover maybe its the clearout that we need time for change new start new ppl give the guy a chance hes only been owner for two weeks

Ed, what is Rangers transfer budget?

{Ed010's Note -That is a reasonable question but unfortunately I cannot give you a definitive answer. If you remember, during the takeover period, Craig Whyte promised that he would give Ally McCoist a £5,000,000 transfer pot, each year for the next 5 years. That was until Walter Smith intervened and said that he (Ally) would need more than that this coming season, in order to bring in new players. Mr Whyte obviously agreed and was reported as saying that he would give the new Rangers manager considerably more than the initially promised £5,000,000.

My understanding is that a figure of between ten and fifteen million has been quoted but nothing officially has been confirmed by Rangers. It was also reported that the initial 5 million did not include wages, which were to be paid from a seperate fund but the newer higher figure, may have to include the wages.

Have I got that right guys ? anyone with any other information or anything to add ?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

15 million this season then 5 million the next 5 seasons

10 million then 5 for the next 4 season get it right

just a quick question to my fellow bears.

with most of the board gone and bain suspended.

who will be handling the transfer talks and contract extentions???.

just im wonderng if this development will hold up rangers being able to sign new players.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Neil murray has been brought in by ally to oversee/advise in such matters as well as being used in his capacity as a scout/agent . craig whyte and ally have obviously been in talks about this role . wether whyte has his own man i don't know , but neil murray will be helping ally in such matters .

A lot of talk on here about us signing 4 or 5 players on loan for next season, which I think would be a mistake. 1 or 2 of good quality to boost the squad is good, but too many loana can disrupt the harmony in the squad as if a player who is permanently contracted to the club regularly loses his place in the team to a loanee, they would be rightly upset about this. Loaning the likes of Bartley and Borini would be good signings, but I think more than 2 could have an adverse affect on the squad, espevially now that we are in a better financial position so we can offer players better wages and longer contracts to sign on a permanent basis. What do you think ed?

Steven.

{Ed010's Note -Steven, I follow your logic and agree that it could be a problem. There is however, a part of "loan" process that needs to be taken into account. As we all know, clubs offer some of their fringe players or players who have fallen out of favour, to other clubs on loan.
While in some cases, it is just that, a "loan" on other occasions, it becomes like a trial, where the club who takes the loanee, has the opportunity to assess the player and as part of the loan procedure, first option on the player, once the loan period expires.

The most recent loan deal where this happened was when Blackpool took Jason Puncheon on loan for 6 months from Southampton. Southampton agreed a fee of £1,500,000 with Blackpool if they stayed up but are now touting Puncheon for £2,500,00.

Basically, if Ally is interested in a player, it could be in his and Rangers best interest to go down that route with several players.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Agreed with regard to Puncheon's situation, although I do firmly believe that too many loans provide more internal problems than we are aware of. thanks for the response ed.

{Ed010's Note - I totally agree with your point but for the sake of debate, I was suggesting a counter arguement of sorts. There is no doubt that the easiest way to lose a dressing room is for there to be too many loanees playing regularly, especially if they are getting paid a lot more money than the contracted players.

I am a rangers fan thru and thru. Why post rumours regarding the bears supposedly signing guys like Dorrans, McFadden etc. These guys r very Celtic minded and it wld surprise me greatly if they even contemplated signing for us. I have heard that there is a big chance of C. Burke signing for Celtic. It's something I really hope doesn't happen but we know he was brought up supporting them. I think most rumours r complete POO at the moment and the exciting stuff will hopefully materialise in the nxt 3/4 wks. I know it's good fun reading all the rumours as do I, but I thought I shld put a little comment in. Thanks for reading! ! Big stell

Believable3 Unbelievable0

McFadden has cousins that are Rangers. If the chance comes he would come home and sign for any Auld Firm team. They have told me.I know him before his Motherwell trial. And lets face it Ally, got his best football out of him when he was Scotland number two.James was and is not a silly man.He will know this, and want to be a winner. And look back on his carer with medals. And will want to play in the champions league. And Dorrans we could not afford anyway.

Agree2 Disagree0

McFadden is a Celtic fan and I hope they sign him. They are welcome to Burke as well, imo he is hopeless. Dorrans, however I would like to see at Rangers.

GovanFR

Agree1 Disagree0

I didn't think dorrans was "celtic minded" at all when i spoke to him at livi few years back.
does anyone know or have any evidence of this? ED?

{Ed010's Note -I cannot confirm that Dorrans is or was "Celtic minded" but it is a fact that when he was a youth, he trained with Celtic but only for a short period.

No . .clearly your footballing affairs are not up to date and have wrongly cristicised the bear who posted this originally. Urby Emanuelson signed for A.C Milan on the 23rd of January 2011. For the people saying that we are in for mcfadden he already says the ony scottish team he would play for is motherwell! soo not going to happen!

Believable2 Unbelievable2

24 May 2011 13:53:57
some of these posts are laughable, ally mccoist is on holiday, what do you think he is doing, making calls to teams from a sunlounger holding a bottle of corona?

the only one i would take notice of just now is Goodwuillie, rangers have had him tabbed for a while and there is NO chance he would join celtic, no offence to celtic fans but at this moment in time why would he want to? if theres any players linked with us or celtic abroad (unless there is a fan love for the club) the choice will be us because we will be in the champions league, we can pay a transfer fee and offer better wages. Celtics financial reading which will be announced soon won't be good im afraid debts increased to around 11 million, with no champions league again and probably not for a while.

you will find Roger Johnson will not sign as eck is still the manager remember you really think hes going to sell his best defender to us when he'll be looking to win the championship?

Mccfadden would go to celtic no doubt hes supported them all his life and hes htiting his peak at 28.

we will not sign a keeper unless mccgregor leaves which is EXTREMELY doubtful

Believable1 Unbelievable0

McFadden hiting his peak ??????

he is constantly injured an i don't want him anywhere near ibrox

Agree3 Disagree0

Actually McCoist is not on holiday. He was going to do the white water rafting with the rest of the management team then coming back. He said he might go to Portugal for a week. Ed do you know if they are back from Idaho yet?

{Ed010's Note -It was reported that they were going to Idaho on Monday 16th May 2011 and that the trip was for 5 days. Taking into account time zones and travelling days etc, they should have arrived back, no later than Sunday 22nd May 2011.

RANGERS chief executive Martin Bain and Donald McIntyre, who holds the positions of finance director, secretary and executive director, were suspended yesterday after what was described as "irregularities" were discovered at the club.

. . I SUSPECT this will maybe be to do with them being investigated as to their level of involvement in supporting the opposing deal to buy the club (ie, other than Craig Whyte's). could be wrong, but it wouldn't be the first time in football or business in general that a new owner comes in and wants only his trusted and loyal people.
But doesn't change anything on the field where it matters (except it appears these 2 have always tried to be as much help for the club and team management in bringing in players even on loans etc in difficult financial times).

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Rubbish an internal audit was done things are not right is this why people dragged there heels where the takeover is concerned because they must of knew an internal audit was going to happen once the takeover was completed its normal practice big rab by the way

"As well as rangers being linked with players I've heard a few rumours of certain players trying to engineer moves to rangers. So far ive heard of the following players trying to do this
dorrans
snodgrass
brunt
johnny Evans
craig Beattie
the only one I know who's is definetly wanting to move is snodgrass, I used to play with him at Livingston and still keep in touch, he major wants a move the bears! Don't know if anybody knows about the rest?"

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Not only is Chris Brunt a Rangers fan but he's a left-winger and when was the last time we had one of those? unfortunately WBA would be wanting stupid amounts of money for him. I think Brunt is well and truly out of our price range.

According to the Daily Express Rangers and Celtic are set to fight it out for James McFadden, he will be availible relatively cheap as he is nearly out of contract.

However, he is a Celtic fan so that may give them the edge.

What do you think ed, good or bad signing? {Ed001's Note - I think he is very hit and miss, has the ability but doesn't seem to bother using it in 90% of matches.}

Mark noble of west ham would be an excellent signing, unlikely to happen though as wages/asking fee will be out of our reach.

Vaughan of blackpool is a player i think we should sign, good technical player with a lot of heart, wouldn't be that expensive either.

We definately need a strong defensive midfielder, I think nekunam of osasuna would be an excellent signing if we can afford him.

Morrison of wba would be a great signing.

Cuellar would be my first choice cd but depends on money.

david murphy would be ideal for left back.

And fabio borini to partner jelavic, as I think he is a cracking little player, good technically and an eye for goal.

Sinclair of swansea (possibly still chelsea, not sure) would be my first choice for left mid, but not sure we have the cash.

All in all, I think our midfield is currently the weakest part of our team so that would be my first priority.

Realisticly I think we should go for:

Nekounam
Vaughan
Morrison
Borini
Sinclair

Whats your thoughts?

gersfan

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Yeah all good points, midfield is where most of the money needs to be spent.the david goodwillie deal is as good as done so there wudnt be much point in signing borrini aswell & cuellar hasnt exactly pulled up to many tree's in the EPL so he would be worth a cheeky bid.
what about andrew driver for left mid?

Nice if it happens but don't think it will. we can't go down the road of spending what were are not earning in the murray era we averaged an overspend of 10million a year which lead to what happened to our club over the last hard couple of years it was good while it lasted we have got are house in order it must remain that way ally has had a good apprenticeship under sir walter smith and have faith that ally will find a couple of gems to put a smile on our faces in the new season big rab by the way keeping it real
