Use our rumours form to send us rangers transfer rumours.

25 Jan 2012 23:33:00
I keep hearing that Davis has lost but I don't think so, granted Davis has not played to hs bet but how long has he been with the Gers and this is his first slump! We should get behind davis help him get back on form you don't lose that kind of talent over night, do you?

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Davis needs naismith and vice versa I would say

Agree1 Disagree1

He needs to be relieved of the captains arm band, give it to shagger or Boca and let him get back to concentrating on his game

JG

Agree0 Disagree1

Davis needs a midfielder partner who will share responsibility in the heart of our midfield. Edu might run himself into the ground but his awareness to what is around him and his lack ball retention ability leaves a heavy burden on Davis' shoulders.

Quite frankly, everyone needs to get off Davis's back. That is the problem with most fans, they EXPECT everything to come through Davis.....

Is it just me or are there more comments being left on this page by Celtic fans...

Circling for impending disaster gents? Don't count your chickens

Whyte ain't had the best of starts but one things for sure he is no fool. If he wanted a swift pre-pack opportunity there are easier plays than taking over rangers.

Ally?

It's Ally McCoist.
Legend
Hero
Record goals corer
Playing with the toughest deck of cards any rangers manager has ever played with

Time to back the team guys.
WATP

Believable2 Unbelievable9

Well spotted no flies on you eh? heard whyte has a plan to buy Ayr United (just in case tax case goes pear shaped as if....ha ha) then he is going to change their nickname to
DISHONEST MEN! LOL Timalloy

Agree5 Disagree2

For a start it wouldn't be a pre-pack administration. You really don't know what you're talking about.

I agree he is no fool, but I disagree that there are easier opportunities than Rangers. Buy the club for £1m and have a 1st ranking security over the assets to the sum of £18m in the event of administration. Please tell us what easier opportunities there are?

Agree1 Disagree0

Apologies, my last post should have read "Buy the club for £1 and have a 1st ranking security over the assets to the sum of £18m in the event of administration. Please tell us what easier opportunities there are?" rather than buy the club for "£1m".

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on for the original post. I reckon they should be spending more time planning their excuses for when we turn around the massive four point gap they have opened up! The problem is they already have excuses down to a fine art so this tax case is the only way to relieve their boredom. Imagine how sweet a league victory would be this year of all years! The team needs supporters not bottlers and backstabbers, WATP!

Why do people think that whyte is gonna sell jelavic and keep the money to himself ? when has he done anything like this since he took over? The only way jelavic will leave is if a team panic buys because we wont sell cheap.. With ellis coming in i think we have an idea on what way the tax case will swing... Dunno if thats against us and ellis has been brought in to clear out or hes in cos it went well and he wants a slice of the pie i.e. G52 development, millions of pounds to be made on our land ! The team wont be getting stronger by the end of january and theres too many players under performing to win this league.. bad season !

FauldsRFC

Believable3 Unbelievable0

You haven't a clue pal. Rangers only own the car park in front of Ibrox. It has very little development potential and other parties who DO own land in the area, such as Glasgow Housing Association have publicly stated that they will not deal with Rangers in any property matters.

So no million of pounds to be made on your land, unless of course Ellis has been brought in to develop Ibrox stadium. Remember, Craig Whyte has an £18m 1st ranking security over Rangers, and as such would get the first £18m of assets (and before HMRC) in the case of administration. Mmph, there's a thought.

Rangers will be forced to sell Jelavic as the club has no money to fund day to day running expenses. Rangers are running out of money and are presently not making PAYE and NI payments due to HMRC (this is over and above the Big and Wee tax cases). The funds from the Jelavic transfer wil be used as cashflow up until May.

And by the way, it'snot G52 it's G51.

Agree3 Disagree0

Its you that doesn't have a clue timmy no name. Rangers own the large car park across the road from Ibrox stadium that was formerly the Albion training ground. They also own land in the immediate 'stadium precinct' area behind the Broomloan Road and Copland Road stands.
Other land close to the stadium is owned by Glasgow City Council, Strathclyde Passenger Transport , Gl a s g o w Housing Association and a firm called Lujo Properties.

Dear anonymous poster, thanks for the input, but if you can at least try not to present rumour as fact in future, that'd be nice.

Fail! Fail! Miko, as far as I recall you are the one posted missing after defeat or when the chips are down. Then you and your fellow Celtic supporters crawl back out to crow on about the tax case and other matters which you have no clue about. So you have a four point lead when we are in a big slump of form do you really think you will be unbeaten between now and the end of the season? Youi have scraped by the last two games and you are worried that when we hit form again your team will do what it is famous for and bottle it! Where will you be come May when we have the league trophy in our possession once again?

Lol, a 19 point turnaround within the space of a few weeks isn't a big slump in form, it's called complete capitulation, pal. We scraped by our last 2 games?

Are you serious? Your team dropped 2 points at home against the sheep, an already poor team that had 5 first team regulars missing.

Mind the gap, Percy! lol

There was a group of people on a tour-bus. The guide on the bus asked if anyone on the bus could tell the rest a joke, whereupon a man got up and said that he could tell a Celtic joke.

Suddenly a bloke in the back of the bus said 'No, don`t do that pal. I'm a Celtic fan!' The guide looked at him and said 'That's okay we'll explain it to you afterwards'.

Ah my dear Bears, remember before the end of last season Jellyfish coming out and saying “I know United [Man Utd] are interested. My agent has established contact with them but that’s all I know. My agent has mentioned a figure of £13million and I came to Rangers for £4m so it would be a big gain for the club.”

Jellyfish, the striking striker and Mr Whyte are a match made in heaven. Trying to set up deals using underhand methods.

How's this for an idea Bears. Get rid of that f*cking plank of wood Gordon Smith, who i'm sure is pulling a tidy sum of money out the club, and use it on playing staff. Cannot believe that he can claim to not know what's going on with the trialists. 'You'll have to ask Ally' was one of his answers in the papers today! What is he getting paid for exactly?

celtic & scottish football as a whole will survive without rangers...craig whytes not the answer for rfc...hes a conman n all the ff loyal are not protesting about him & he just goes on bluffing away whilst you're famous teams history & credibility are slowly going doon the pan! hes gambling with everything & you gers fans are letting him away with it..big style:)....hes just knocked back £7 mill for jelavic, so wont have any money to re-invest in you're team...also been told that mc coist is ready to walk away cos hes getting no money for fresh faces, even if jelavic goes...he will still get no funds!....sad times & whytes making it worse:((

Believable6 Unbelievable9

Who told you that? not gonna say lies but no source so i'm not buying it. Also the spl wont survive without BOTH of the old firm, and Sky wont want to watch just celtic play. NO OLD FIRM NO SKY!
EKger

Agree6 Disagree7

EKger you are right, it is very simple if Rangers aren't there no Sky, and to be honest Celtics season ticket sales would plummet.

GovanFR

Agree5 Disagree7

Sky would re-negociate with the spl @ a reduced rate obviously.on account of how big celtic fc are globally..sky would still show celtic games globally to pubs/clubs in usa..canada..australia..n/zealand..asia n the orient to pander to that huge market.
if rangers were to parachute in2 the 3rd division then promotion annually until they reach the spl again would throw a massive lifeline to all the "minnows" with rangers packing out theyre stadiums twice a season.
the concept of "you'se coodny survive wayoot the gers" is a crock a s**t & is not a reasonable/viable excuse to shamefully rescue a club who have unlawfully/illegally conned HM government out of millions a £'s & should be held accountable & punished severely to make sure this sort of crime is stamped out.
sky sports is not the be all & end of in tv....the spl could survive on espn & celtic season tickets would help us out along side tv rights for euro nites...stop hanging on 2 this foolish notion of "you'se need us"...cos we dont & its time you'se fought for you're club back!
franco67

Agree5 Disagree2

Ha ha ha ha ha ha, be careful what you wish for!

Agree0 Disagree1

Got to laugh at your posting - "Celtic and Scottish football.." Are you not part of Scottish football?
do you see your club as a seperate entity?
do you not feel part of Scottish football? do you need a counsellor?
Peter Liewell and co cant wait for RFC to disappear so you can go cap in hand begging for admission to the EPL cos that'll be the only way you'll get the income that you'll need. You'll hang about in Scottish football until you can get a deal, then off.
Until then Europe every season, yes, but you'll only ever be good enough for the Europa League after you are knocked out of CL cos of your p*sh poor away record (ours is not to clever, admittedly). Still it is Europe until December and in the SPL (that's Scottish football) you'll be paying top prices for your season tickets for meaningless games because you'll probably walk the league, or should, and fans will not get value for money games.

Agree1 Disagree3

What a load of nonsense! when you get relegated lets say sky pull the plug,we can then stream our games ourselves worlwide(cos we actually have a global brand!)and pocket all the money! then if you claw your way back up the divisions sky will be back.see its not too hard.green jhedi. and as always.........mind the gap

Agree2 Disagree0

Ah green heidi, global brand, of course you have. Now whats that you say "and pocket all the money" you might get into trouble for that.

Really wish rangers fans out there would stop being so adamant that we are skint. What did the screens at Ibrox get fixed with - thin air. CW is just trying to make sure the books balance. He has gave Ally a total wage bill to work too and at present we are close to that. As for transfer fees CW is never going to go to own pocket like Murray did. Money is available to ally to buy players just the wage bill needs altering first. Trueblue82

Murray never went into his own pocket mate, that's why we ended up 90 m in debt . in fact murray has taken more money out of ibrox than he ever put in , in fact he is still taking money from rangers.

Agree8 Disagree0

It's the fact he came in and lied saying he was going spend this and that then spend next to nothing, he gave us all false hope bidding for players he knew he wouldn't get because his bids where shocking, if he came in and wad straight way the fans and told us we were in the s**te he might have got more respect, he has treated the fans in a shocking way.

well i read this page every morning and i am discusted with the way the so called glasgow rangers fans are acting against one of the most famous players ally McCoist, ally new what he was coming into if you listened to his coments before he took over mr white promised some money to strenthen the team were white has failed to produce, i think it time for all fans to get together and do something to demand white to come out in public and state were our club is going, look at Blackburn Rovers fans demanding for there manager to go thats what i call fans who love there club and all we are doing is sitting back and allowing mr white to distroy our club. LETS DO SOMETHING ABOUT AND NOT SIT BACK GET OUR CLUB BACK TO WERE WE BELONG. THE TEADY BEARS

Interesting reading of the Portsmouth winding up order. the reason this has happened is because the club failed to pay PAYE & NI on 2 seperate occasions this year.

"Ensuring tax is paid on time should be at the centre of a football club's business strategy just as it should be for any other enterprise," said a HMRC spokesman.

"It is only fair to those clubs and to other taxpayers who do meet their obligations that HMRC enforces payment of tax debts owed - and if need be, issues a winding up petition or seeks to appoint an administrator."

this could be even more worrying news for rangers as it has been well publicised that rangers have failed to pay or submit any PAYE or NI accounts since whyte took over.

this really could be the final nail in the coffin, and probably one of the main reasons that HMRC refused to do any kind of deal

Believable10 Unbelievable1

HMRC were refusing to do a deal before Whyte took over.

Agree1 Disagree7

Not according to the media up until december. how many times did we hear about deals being done for 5m? lol!

in fact, it was only a couple of weeks ago that nutters on here were still claiming a deal was being "thrashed out" even when whyte said no chance!

I will laugh if jelavic goes to west ham because it wil show that he's not in football for the love of the game, it'll show he's yet another money grabber walking out on rangers when they need them most. Let's face it west ham don't have a hope of getting to Europe in the next five years so he's not taking a step up on the ladder.
I urge him to look at where money grabbing got kris Boyd and then make up his mind.
Having said this if he is forced out by whyte then something must be done about him. I know we are in trouble financially but you should NEVER force a player to leave a club if they don't want to go.

Fraser

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Fraser what you need to realise is that being a footballer is their job. They don't have long careers. They have families to support through a life not just until they retire at 36 or so, therefore they need to make as much as they can. West Ham will be in the Premiership soon enough so it is a step up.

If you believe all timmys ramblings then you would believe that the other mob are miles ahead of Rangers but lets take a closer look

Prelim results for year ended June 2011
Operational highlights
Other-Runners up SPL 3IAR
Gers-Champions 3IAR
Turnover
Other 52.6m
Gers 57.2m
Net bank debt
Other-0.53m
Gers-18m (now zero)
Profit before tax
Other-100k
Gers-76k after payment of 2.1m interest on bank debt

If we look at these figures now we know why timmy is desperate for the tax man to win his case, its the only way they are going to win the league
Ok Whyte has told us that the way the club has been run must change and we may have to accept a few more hard years to get us back on an even keel
3 points on Saturday and the pressure is back on

Keep the faith and hope we win our tax case fellow bears

JG

Believable3 Unbelievable9

The key here is year end june 2011! i think you might find june 2012 might make interesting reading.no euro cash in them,18m in debt now zero? all whytes done is move the debt to the parent company,n you aint been paying tax or ni on wages since he arrived.add on your 10m black hole n its lovely! nice to see some people are still fooled by smoke n mirrors tho

Agree10 Disagree0

You keep clutching at those exceeding short straws, and we'll keep laughing at this circus lol!!

Agree9 Disagree0

You've got the Net bank debt "Gers-18m (now zero)" wrong. Rangers provisional accounts for y/e 30 June 2011 show net bank debt standing at £14m.

This is the most relevant fact from the financial information you've provided and you've made a total @rse of yourself by getting it wrong.

So from your figures Celtic made more profit than Rangers even when Rangers had CL money in 2010/2011...you my friend are a clown! Perhaps you can now see why Rangers looked to cheat the taxman to compete financially with Celtic!

I can't believe it was front page news today that sir david murray visited murray park I mean the guy owns the joint so what! ps I noticed when you click on rangers on bbc website and search our news the big article is on barry robson saying celtic will walk the league, wtf does that have to do with rangers and it bs, he was on sportscene and said nothing of the sort!*ksd*

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Robson is correct, we will walk the league, your mob were 15 points ahead, albeit Celtic had two games in hand! Your now 4 points behind. You can't beat an Aberdeen team with 5 first team players out. You can't beat Malmo/Maribor in europe. Oh and your main striker is hoping to move to the championship! And i'm not even going to mention the t*x c*se!

We were 15 points ahead having played two games more. Those two games were in Celtic hands, not ours. Celtic won them, which cut the lead to 9 points. So, really, we were 9 points ahead. We were in control of 9 points, not 15!!!

As an occasional visitor to this site, I see that much spleen has been vented upon exactly who is to blame for the shocking and farcical shambles at our club. The truth, of course, is that responsiblity is shared for these calamitous times, the worst since the dark days of 5,000 gates in the early '80s pre-Souness. SDM left a horrendous financial legacy and the jury is still out, to put it mildly, on Whyte's probity and motives, let alone serious doubts about whether he actually has any money, or any money he is prepared to invest in the club rather than escaping with a stealthy profit. As for Ally, an immortal playing legend, he has shown appalling judgement in both the transfer market (with some notable exceptions) and as a tactical coach, taking us shamefully out of 3 European and domestic tournaments and blowing an SPL lead of 15 points. But transcending all of this is a new toxic culture at Ibrox which generates a PR strategy that forbids any meaningful communication with the fans. The questions being asked here are rational and important, posed by intelligent Rangers supporters who, while waiting for the tax case outcome, at least deserve clear answers on short-term playing issues that perplex us all.
1. Why is there no information about the status of Jamie Ness's injury? This kid has a style and natural ability that in theory could let him emulate Barry and even Baxter, and the fans have a right to know whether or not the boy has a viable career.

2. Matt McKay arrived, dismissing the usual hype, with fairly impressive credentials, and certainly looked a player with the Aussie national team. If, as suggested here, Ally is blanking him from every club involvement because of a personal fall-out, that is petty and unprofessional when the side is crying out for power and creativity in midfield?

3. Why are we trialling nonentities from around the world, when such promising youngsters as McMillan, Fleck, Cole, Hutton, Perry, McCabe, McCausland, McLeod, and Gallagher can't get a first team chance to show they are better than the likes of the disastrous Broadfoot, Healy, and McCulloch?
However, most crucially of all, while we all hope Ally can recover from a dreadful start, admittedly starved of funds, will he aquire the vital managerial ability to learn from his mistakes? Even with the horrors of the tax case and our undignified transfer scrabbling in football's waste-bins, we could least on the field use the talents we have to play a positive, attacking brand of football. As we are almost certain to lose the title anyway, whether by administation or player poverty, at least give our kids their head to go at opponents with courage, pace and belief till the end the season. We need a major injection of youthful enthusiasm which might even unearth some new home-grown talent and retrieve some dignity. We may not wrest the title for we all know in our hearts there are terrible times and that this is a disastrous season, but somewhere we have to start to build a new future, a new era, with some hope and energy. Does Ally, bless him, for all his gifts, have the raw courage to send out a bright, young positive team that go forward from the first whistle and run and die for the jersey?

Excellent post.while you are correct in that david murray caused this financial meltdown i think it runs a lot deeper than that.this story broke nearly two years ago yet rangers supporters still adopted an attitude of its okay murray will sort it out.over the last couple of years supporters associations and high profile fans seemed to be placated by a quick meeting with murray over tea and custard creams.if you happened to be involved with a newspaper you would be offered the chance of"succulent lamb and the finest reds" to ensure no difficult questions were asked.only last week,an article by james traynor on rangers problems did not contain one reference to david murray(who traynor has stated is a friend)daryll king was the only reporter i recall mentioning it before all went quiet again.whyte arrived amid a fanfare of trumpets with articles about his "off the radar wealth"and the whole sorry cycle started again.since then it has been one problem after another, the treatment of john greig, the legal battles over what seems to be every bill whyte receives, the on-going transfer shambles that becomes more farcical on a daily basis, but still no pressure from the fans representatives.i also feel ally has to be more honest with the fans as he is starting to look out of his comfort zone.kerkar was all set to go on loan until a goal at arbroath, fleck plays in two winning games then is dropped and shipped out on loan, bendikson returns to norway rather than stay and fight for a place, mcmillan wont sign an extension after years at the club, ness and hutton not getting nearly enough games over the years, healy who could not get a sniff becomes ally's first choiceand then theres bedoya, ortiz and mckay!allied to a brand of drab football ally must be accountable for he must answer these questions.further rumours include: no VAT or PAYE payments from the whyte take over, erratic payment of coaches wages, and gordon smith undermining the coaching staff.admin, liquidation, nobody has a clue what might happen.this could end with one meeting with whyte and some frank questions and answers.

Senior London Bear - as a Celtic supporter I admire your post, very objective and asking the right questions, whilst still showing dignified and unquestionable loyalty to your team.

Falkirk are a good example of letting youth flourish and I have no doubt that the young Rangers players that you have mentioned, plus others, must be better players than that at Falkirk, with no disrespect to Falkirk intended. Give these young boys a chance.

Agree2 Disagree0

I hear the guy's point however it's completely flawed fact is jamie ness is one of the young lads and when he's fit he plays for the simple fact that he is rated by the coaching staff, if there was any players that ally thinks could help us grasp top spot back do you really think ally would not use them? I mean come on that's all he wants us at the top, best thing that could happen is jelavic stays pulls his head out his ar$e and starts tearing defences apart again with the lad mervan setting him up playing in the hole, 2 results stand out for me the last minute goal at ibrox from thompson of st mirren and the clumsy goal bartley allowed sheep sh@ggers last week, both games we were strolling it at the back but one moment of sloppiness in both has cost us 4pts, wallter with all our injuries would of played 5 in the middle making sure we did'nt concede them type of goals!*ksd*

Can't believe some of the mince that we are being linked with in the media and on here through the fantasists. People are being shot down in flames for suggesting we should spend money on players. Know what? As long as I pump my hard earned cash into the club I fully expect to see top drawer players and I'm sure Celtic fans feel the same. I dont expect to pay £25-£40 to watch players from Estonia, Austria and Honduras. I'd rather see us blooding young players which would boost the national team as well.

Barry Barry

Believable6 Unbelievable1

You can't judge a player on his nationality Barry. Look at Celtic's Honduras international for example. I know what you mean though, us fans pay regardless of personal circumstances season after season and deserve better. But until we get a conclusion to this tax issue i can't see any established players coming in.

here is a more balanced article from the gaurdian, which more or less tells it as it is at the moment

A tribunal involving the club and Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs, relating to Employee Benefit Trust payments by Rangers to staff, is due to be heard next month. If Rangers lose the case they could face a bill reaching £49m. There seems little alternative to administration if Rangers come off worst in their tax battle. Whyte himself has edged ever closer to admitting such a point. If that were to occur, one of Scotland's most famous and successful institutions would be placed into an embarrassing, not to mention damaging, situation.

Gerald Krasner, an insolvency expert and former chairman of Leeds United, has experience of similar scenarios. "It is a fairly brutal business," Krasner said. "Certainly, when Leeds went into administration under Ken Bates, it was local creditors, small companies and the likes of police and ambulance service who were the ones to lose out. The reality of administration is very painful. That said, if you come out the other end, people forget all about it."

Whyte could, in theory, profit from such a chain of events. As Rangers' secured creditor, he would be in a position to pick the club up directly from administration. One financial expert, speaking anonymously, felt such a plan was "feasible", adding: "Big, brand-name clubs [such as Rangers] will come out of administration a lot quicker than others." Whyte has, however, said he is doing all he can to avert administration. Nevertheless, he is in a win-win situation.

Should Rangers win the tax case, Whyte would control a business with no bank borrowing – an earlier £18m debt has been shifted to his own company – and no longer a potentially ruinous tax bill.

For now, Rangers must deal with £780,000 of their assets being frozen by two former club directors. Martin Bain, the former chief executive, was in court again on Friday pursuing an alleged breach of contract. Bain's legal representative, Nicholas Ellis, referred to "what might be described as the parlous financial state" of Rangers. A separate, unresolved, case between Rangers and HMRC could cost the SPL champions £4.2m. Again the taxman has successfully ringfenced the money.

Whyte remains bullish. "I will not be distracted," he said. "I knew when I decided to bid for Rangers that there would be pressures as well as plenty of people who would like us to fail. But despite that, and despite all the muck that is being flung at me and the club by the BBC and others, I am determined to see this through.

"I stepped up to the plate when Rangers was in serious trouble and having accepted the challenge there is no way I will be diverted now. Rangers is far too important an institution to allow those with axes to grind to do us down for naked self interest."

We have no choice but to wait for the outcome of the case and then we will know our future

JG

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Thanks jg,well thats proof of admin i would think! what else would he do? if a favourable result from the tax case means a smaller payment(3-8m) would he pay? i dont think so.now its admin, points deduction and stiffing local buisness and emergency services not to mention all the related work force connected to rangers. very classy, very dignified.

Agree1 Disagree2

Its not proof of Administration as it all depends on the outcome of the tax case.

We believe we have a strong case thats why we had the tribunal

JG

Agree1 Disagree2

Jg; if you look at the poss outcomes you must think he would pay off a small tax bill? what kinda figures do think his upper limit would be? bearing in mind the current levels( 10m black hole, running costs to year end)

Agree2 Disagree1

That is the big question

When Whyte bought out murray for 1 pound in may 2011, the value of the 92 million shares he received was 30 million pounds

When the shares were suspended in January the value of his shareholding was down to 11.5 million pound

with the bank debt taken care of it could be possible that whyte would pay any tax bill less than the current value of his shares also considering that if the tax case was resolved then the shares would rise again in value

At this time though only one guy knows for sure the answer to your question

Does anyone else smell a rat? Our owner talks about getting media attention out across the world which he believes will attract more money into the gers pockets. So we have 2 Americans one of which doesn't play. Didn't CW talk about that idea of pushing our way into the US as a money making scheme? Then we have the Aussie player of the year, who again doesn't play. Another English speaking country were our brand could be increased. We then had the two guys from india, who when arrived turned out to be mince, again a huge market to get into, all of these would create alot of money. Now who decided to buy these players and get the 2 on trial? I for one dont think Ally had a choice in the matter.
