I believe that McCullochs statement about the standard of league 1 football being the same as SPL is a deflection tactic of his own ability. Not wanting to admit he is past it. Could easily blame him for both of the Arbroath goals. He will really struggle in the championship next season. Hope Ally realises this and doesn't just go with the old pals act next season.

{Ed039's Note - I hate critisism of Jig but he was found out yesterday, the guy is a legend in my eyes though and should be on the coaching staff instead of some of the others that are there. He is a role model for the younger players at the club and they certainly need him)

Would have no issue seeing him stay at the club as a player coach (as long as we can afford it) using him as a player sparingly. He stood up and was counted when we really needed him but there just comes a time in a players career when you just can't compete with the younger guys and I think next season could be that one for jig. Agree with you ed that he is a legend tho

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that McCulloch has had his day, great servant though he has been. Why oh why doesn't Ally play Templeton from the start and why is Barr Mackay out on loan? Surely we must play the like of McLeod, Mackay, Templeton and Hutton from the start. We'll need these kids to win the Championship next season and must get rid of the dead wood (i. e. Peralta, Cribari, etc).

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - Hutton has a broken leg and was not fit at the start of the season)

McCulloch knows next season will be his last, playing in the lower leagues against part timers has probably prolonged his career.
the last few months he played in the premier league his lack of pace was obvious.
think Eds right, next time you see him in the spfl it should be in a coaching role. because as a player next seasons championship campaign he`s really going to struggle.

@ OP he has been a very decent servant and scored a load of goals in the lower divisions. Gets lots of plus points for staying loyal when some others couldn't get away quick enough. But when you are as skint as we are sentimentality has to be binned. We are handing out legendary status far too easy nowadays in my opinion. How many goals did he score in the premier division? In the premier was he worthy of the £4million price tag? He will probably be our highest earner and there is a cheaper and much younger alternative in Gasparato

But hey he has been far from the worst and on balance has been a good skipper this year and last but If we are still afloat next year and in the championship he could be found out for pace against youngsters with real speed like Kane Hemmings who picked up another two goals yesterday. Pity he wasn't at Ibrox- oops

Agree0 Disagree0

Go and look at yourselves Lee has one indifferent game-- which we won and he scored the winner-- and you want him out, what kind of Rangers fans are you?

Agree0 Disagree0

He's done well by you bears, you dish out jobs to a lot less deserving. Time to bin the old guard, your coaches that don't coach, and get in some fresh blood

Agree0 Disagree0

Jig carried rangers for most of last season. He took wage cuts and transferred over without question during the lowest point - as did Alexander by the way. I think it is shocking to hear them being dismissed as not being good enough for the mighty rangers and should be binned. No respect? This is the sort of attitude that created this mess in the first place!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - its got noyhing to do with the mess, however I agree with all other points in your post)

@7 sorry people are re writing history- recent history and blaming the lack of decent football last year entirely on the youngsters and saying players like McCulloch carried us through all the games. The reality is good experienced pros like big Lee struggled just as much as young Barry McKay with synthetic pitches, barely legal and often illegal challenges by part time opposition who they were expected to steam roller. When any loyal and decent servant is coming to the end of their career people can get overly sentimental. If you are a sad old sod like me and you keep recordings of our games then you would see big Jig was poor in a lot of games- as were all our players.
He is probably the top earner at our club and if savings must be made as they do then you do not keep your oldest player who is on the highest wage just because this professional who has been right royally rewarded in his career is a Blue nose like the rest of us.
Football- professional football is a business and in business there ain't no room for sentiment.
But you and the Ed will get your way if McCoist is still the manager because he will keep big Lee and in loyalty terms he probably deserves it but stop re-writing history- "legend" - "one bad game"- "carried the club"- FFS- that's what he is bl~~dy paid for and paid well! John Greig - now that's a legend! And he played his entire life at Ibrox not the last 6 years having made a blooming fortune in England first with the colossus that is Wigan F. C

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - just for clarity, I didn't mean legend for his footballing ability, for his loyalty and dignity!)

@5 not disputing he has been a great servant but it is more than one indifferent game and my point is when we step up another league he will struggle. What is plan b for his replacement? The Brazilian guy?

Agree0 Disagree0

@ ED - AGREE 100% shown both dignity and loyalty

That penalty call yesterday was embarrassing arbroath were the better team no wonder there managers fuming

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I got a good view of it from my seat in CF1 and it looked very soft. Haven't seen the highlights on TV. I don't think Arbroath deserved to win but another poor performance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bet Ally was glad he brought his lucky dice with him!
A dbl six at the right time eh.

Agree0 Disagree0

Was I the only one claiming for a pen? I thought it was a stone waller

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought it was a penalty and we should have had another

Agree0 Disagree0

And we also had a good goal chopped of

Agree0 Disagree0

At OP. Did you watch the match? When Arbroath got out of their own half, which was about four times in the 90 minutes, they looked okay.

Ive seen some dreadful players in my time supporting Rangers, but Fraser Aird might just be the worst of the lot. Absolutely dreadful. No wonder folk say footballer's are overpaid, when you see someone like that, no better than the average young amatuer player earning 2-3k a week at his age. Scandalous.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed039's Note - Really? I think he will do OK)

I agree with Ed scored a couple of important goals for us in late stages of games, he's got a little bit stronger this season looks like he's improving all the time, his corners are poor though.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - He is a young boy, he has alot of improving to do but if its a toss up between him and Peralta on the right hand side then Aird gets my vote all day long on performances this season)

Had a very poor game yesterday but wouldn't give up on him just yet

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with the ed on this one. Aird on the right side over peralta all day long. Think the criticism of aird is a bit unfair giving the potential he has showen and his age.

Agree0 Disagree0

Soooo what do we do play youths or not hmmmmm.

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on guys, he is awful. He can't beat a man, his touch is shocking, can't cross the ball, he's scared, his movement is poor. There is absolutely nothing to suggest he will "do ok" other than folk hanging on to hope that because he's a young lad he will improve. Do you honestly think he will cut it at the top level in Scotland when he can't even look good against part timers? Time to wake up and take what's in front of you rather than being blind because he came through Murray Park.

Agree0 Disagree0

Instead of slagging the young lad whose actually playing and contributing something have a look at guys like shiels and cribari between them they earn 14k a week and do nothing for it.

Agree0 Disagree0

@ OP Aird needs to take players on down the wing more instead of turning inside all the time. Hopefully that is just a confidence thing as he has pace to burn and could easily leave most defenders in his wake by flying down his wing. Width is badly needed in the team which we get on the left with Wallace but not enough happening down the right wing.
Agree the coaching staff should be saying to him mate we are going to get someone else to take corners as his delivery has been poor.

Generally there are too many players being played out of position. Mcleod who has been our best midfielder over the season is a central midfielder but is being played down the left to accommodate Ally's preferred pairing of Black and Law -I would bin Black and let young Lewis play his best position. Where we are weak down the right Aird's back up is Faure well FaureFS young McAusland should be there and not out on loan.

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more with Nbear2

Agree0 Disagree0

I though Aird had a good first half remember he is young his touch at times let him down but he has what you can't teach and that is pace you can work on his game I predict he will become a good player for us

Hey, just a thought. Did we ever find out why our old chief scout Neil Murray got sacked?
I have been having a look around but there doesn't seem to be much information on the actual reason so was just wondering if anyone had any ideas or knew anything solid?
cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cause he was s**** at his job.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - He done something else as well, remember he was suspended, various rumours from being on the take to not doing his own homework kicking about but nothing concrete)

See above he was s****, can't scout sitting on fm

Why is ally lining up Ryan Stevenson when we are cutting back, this ONCE great club we support is a complete shambles.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally different subject but just watch Walters last interview on youtube, why is he not ibrox as manager or some capacity?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - He left as manager and resigned as chairman thats why)

Exactly. If we are really considering new players might be a wise idea to ship a few out first but then again when did we do wise.

Agree0 Disagree0

Has anyone from Rangers said they want to sign him or is it just paper talk because he was seen at Ibrox watching a game
