Use our rumours form to send us rangers transfer rumours.

02 Aug 2011 21:19:31
We'll I suppose the one big positive is that the transfer window hasn't yet closed, and who knows we may even get to see some of the transfer kitty that Mr Whyte hinted about. At the end of the day however, he does own the club and although we are the loyal supporters, of which he professes to be one, he can pretty much do as he likes. Our activity to date in the transfer market, has been nothing short of ridiculous, and shows complete immaturity in this area. What amazes me though is that Ally seems to believe it all, unless he knows something we don't and boy do I hope that's the case, if not then even he is being treated with total disrespect.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Been saying that for weeks

Agree0 Disagree0

I pray and hope, as highly unlikely and cringeworthy as it may be that Whyte and the management teams are dilerately playing everyone for fools as he is alledgely a very cleavert businessman. i.e Embaraassingly bad, almost dangerous shenanigans into order to totally throw everyone off the scent and suddenly bring in several brilliant players.

Never gonna happen though, we're becoming a joke even amongst our own support.

Does anybody know how odonker and murphy (our 2 trialists) played against hamilton?? We won 2-1 thats all i know. Any info would b appreciated thanks

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Murphy was let go by middlesbrough halfway through his trail ....

Agree0 Disagree0

Both apparently impressed..murphy to play an international game before returning to us to train with the team..the german guy also apparently impressed but mccoist is apparently tryin to decide wether to take the risk on him with him being so injury prone

Goodwillie not worth that money, just forget it now. He is a decent striker but theres better out there cheaper. We do we need another striker anyway? Havent we got Healy, Jelavic, Lafferty, Hemmings, Naismith so why need another one. Give Healy a few starts and he will start banging in the goals, he is a goal poacher. Maybe that Rhys Murphy might be a decent signing he looks very skillful and good finisher in what ive seen of him & a bonus hes a freebie. Take a chance.

Surely we must make a bid that betters the Blackburn one. if there both the same which one are utd going to accept the Blackburn one, or the team that plays utd on numerous occassions throughout the
season and where Goodwillie's goalsv could come back to haunt them.

Aye its hard one eh ? get a grip Who's running our club The Chuckle Brothers ?

I honestly wont be surprised if mccoist resigns. He is showing whyte what players he wants and then a few weeks later whyte puts in a pathetic bid which has no chance of getting accepted. I really do feel for mccoist. But lets all give him some credit with what he has done with what he's got.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Give him credit for what hes done i hope you mean his 350 odd goals for the club, as no credit is due yet for dropped points against Hearts, turned over by Malmo, and a sub standard performance against saints. Get thru tomorrow night and i'll start to show him some credit

Agree0 Disagree0

Why should he resign ? The difference between Ally McCoist and Craig Whyte is that Ally supported, played, coached and now Manages the club he loves so much. Craig Whyte is a asset stripping so called busienessman, who has come in with precisely £1.00 and taken on the debt of an institution, which quite frankly was on it's knees. Whyte, for me, has absolutely no football interest in GLASGOW RANGERS and will sell the club on at a profit somewhere down the line, but not before he has stripped the club of our most valuable assets, THE BEST PLAYERS I now believe that he has offered certain players 5 Yr deals to assure a neat profit in the transfer market, and it may just be before the window closes in August..... This is an ordeal under this man, and if we don't get into the C/L group stages, what then ??? BUT, again, why should Ally resign ? Whyte will choose who, and what will be Rangers future until the time to sell has come and he has fleeced the club, investing little and selling for a small fortune.................. HE should go

Agree0 Disagree0

Credit? Some of the worst tactics I have seen from a Rangers manager and some very poor performances in friendlies and when it matters.

Goodwillie bid has been rejected
It's clearly obvious that Dundee united just don't want him playing against them for rangers

Believable2 Unbelievable0

When are all of you going to wake up to the fact that the player headed down to Blackburn for a medical knowing that Rangers were interested. If he had any intention of joining us he would have knocked Blackburn back, this would have opened the door for Rangers and put Utd in a position where they knew what the player wanted. It makes no sense that someone who is supposedly interested in a move to Ibrox would jump at the first offer his club accept for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I completely agree - if Goodwillie really wanted to sign for Rangers there is no way he would have went to Blackburn for his medical Lets be honest only players we can sign will be free transfers and injury prone winger

he is undergoing medical at Blackburn after agreeing personal terms, around 20k week plus 280k signing on fee.
maybe too late in the day, but why has it taken so long, a month to agree the fee, when they knew what the price was, shambles and no way to do business and sounds like a panic bid as another signing target slips away

When are Rangers fans going to realise that Mr Whyte is not purposley
shafting us but is only guilty of not understanding the football side of
business. When a club value a player like David Goodwillie at £2m who has a couple of years left on his contract that is what they expect to acheive.

Peter Houston has stated that if Rangers are prepared to pay £1.5m
for a Hearts left back then £2m for a striker who scored goals for fun last year, is not an unfair assessment in my eyes.

Now Rangers bid £1m plus add ons before his charges were dropped and this was rejected out of hand, as soon as the charges were dropped
Whyte & McCoist should have realised that this was going to
generate extra interest from other clubs and moved quickly. A bid of £2
m would have been successful, last monday and Goodwillie would be a Rangers player today.

There's no point in embarrassing yourself further by chasing a target
making more bids which some didnt even match the successful one from Blackburn.

I fear the exact same is going to happen with Verhoek, with Fulham
now set to steal him from under our noses.

One thing Mr Whyte should learn fast is if you want a player then get
in there before others. If you pussy foot about trying to haggle over
mere hundreds of thousands here and there, certain add ons, paying
money up front etc your not going to get the first choice players your manager wants to improve the team

C

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Its that not why he employed Gordon Smith... the truth of the matter is that we are not paying the money up front Do we have it?? only Whyte knows the answer to that. I think if Mr Whyte had any money left then he should have backed his manager and gave Dundee Utd what they asked for. Rangers will not compete with any EPL teams in the transfer market nor can they match any wages that are offered. This will be the first of many failures in the transfer market in the next few weeks so we better all get used to this.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree mate he has to learn from his mistakes so far and get some quality in

VIEWS AND NEWS

About Jim Jefferies, personally I would love to see him come in at Rangers even for a wee while to possibly offer help for ally mccoist or even as a coac as he looks for a permanent mangers job along with billy brown. Romanov is a complete w*nker.

anyway my suspicions about Craig Whyte are growing as we are getting deeper into the season we have no cover at all for all positions bar GK. If bougie goes (which looks likely now and good luck to him) we will fail at the back, a would personally love to see Rangers go for alan hutton on loan and a big strong centre back, either bartley and cuellar or juhsaz or how ever u spell his name. but fair enough Craig Whyte has done somethings like contracts for key players and unfortuanlty whitaker ..... C'mon Smith, Whyte n coisty grow some baws and start bringing the players in we need instead of fannying about like arses man.

Now that David Goodwillie is as good as a Blackburn player i am going to post this:

I have been told on good authaurity that Dundee Utd were not interested in dealing with Rangers because Rangers proposed to pay the fee in installments.

Dundee Utd are very aware of the impending court case with HMRC and the statement fom Mr Whyte that the club would go into administrtation 90 days from losing the court case(letter to shareholders) This scenario would lead to Dundee Utd not recieving future installments or add ons and were simply not willing to take the risk, who can blame them really

Now im not saying that Rangers will lose the court case or that they are going into administration, no one really knows what will happen there, but clubs are going to want money up front or they simply will not deal with Rangers.

This is all getting very embarassing

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Look at the young lad that played for the Czech Rep last night against Spain in the under 19's. Centre half called Kalas.

Without trying to coin a cheecky pun, he was Klass against a very good young spanish side, worth a gander.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea bought him for 5.2 million in 2010 so he wont be cheap

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree0 Disagree0

Props for the pun. Hopefully we're scouting these tourneys however, with youth players in particular, it can be quite difficult to sign them from abroad (all sorts of additional rules and regulations required) that can make it not worth our while. Additionally, other teams will probably be thinking about getting in on the act and getting some of these young lads as future prospects or at least to make a profit in a few years. Its quite a complicated situation trying to get these players from europe over to Scotland

AGREE - YOU WANT HIM

DISAGREE - MOVE ON AND LOOK AT ANOTHER STRIKER

Ed can you not put a stop to all the Goodwillie rumours until something concrete comes through? Fed up reading about him. The sooner he signs for Blackburn the better {Ed019's Note - myself and my colleague have done this a few times. if there is an update then the rumlurs get posted again, obviously today is a new day so there will be updates. the traffic is heavier for the verhoek fulham situation anyway, but rest assured if we get too many goodwillie rumours, we will moderate them.

Everybody is saying we couldnt afford joey barton's wages, which is most likely to be true. but surely a club as big as rangers should be able to put together a decent package to at least make him consider us? If we signed a player like barton, surely we could offer him a percentage of shirt sales and stuff? as well as appearance fees, goal bonuses, win bonuses, bonuses for winning the league or going so far in europe ? Dont know what you guys think about it but surely we should try making a statement by offering him a deal ?

Jamie

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Again make an offer then u will be on ere calling ally, and whyte all the names under the sun for not getting him??

Agree0 Disagree0

Not at all ive actually been one of the ones who thinks we are quite right not to jump into deals. I know everybody keeps saying about this warchest we've got but quite clearly the wages are included in this. But we wouldnt be paying a fee for him. If mcgregors basic wage is £28k a week, and u think about bonuses on top of that hes on a very decent wage. So if barton is wanting a 4 year deal(like it says on bbc website) with a bit more £££ with bonuses on top, then the overall cost of the deal wouldnt be far off mcgregors 6 year contract? He might turn round and say no but at least it sends out a message to the rest of the fans that we still want the best of players at the club? In my opinion i think its worth a shot.

Looks like Rangers are still ot learning how the transfer market works, as our fooling about has another Premier League team ready to pay the asking price while we are still counting our change. When will the new management team learn how to do business quickly and effectively. I would rather we bought half the players we need and pick up the rest on loan. Otherwise we are going to loose out on all out priority signings

rangers to sign kyle bartley by the weekend. also expect the hungarian defender to sign in coming days. can't help but feel sorry for coisty in this whole goodwillie situation. yet again this morning ally says rangers are still very much in contention to sign him. i fear ally will lose a lot of credibility if this deal doesn't go through. also the den haag boy that rangers want, it appears that this is another target that rangers will probably miss out on as premiership teams including fulham are in the hunt. mr whyte dosn't fill me with any confidence

Believable4 Unbelievable0

02 Aug 2011 11:15:54
These low bids are harming us now, doesn't look like we'll e getting verhoek now, if we go straight in then we will get these players, they're trying to save money but in the Goodwillie case we could have already got him for 2mil but now it looks like if we do get him it will be for 2.8mil which is getting frustrating now

Believable2 Unbelievable0

02 Aug 2011 11:11:15
Its as clear as can be that Ally wants Goodwillie, if it was down to him i think we would have had Goodwillie for 2 million before Blackburn even bid.

However its down to whyte to supply the funds and he clearly stated when he arrived at the club he did not rate DG at 2 million pounds.

He has tried to play the big man in business and has got done over big time, now unless we offer the money upfront instead of in monthly installments, our side of the deal is going nowhere.

However, Goodwillie travelled to England yesterday to meet with Steve Kean and have a medical and returned no further forward? Doesn't cut it with me, I personally don't think the player has any intenetions of going to Blackburn, he has given rangers ample time to match what UTD want by stalling the deal down south at every opportunity, do aomething whyte but let the fans know, either match it or leave it, this is becoming a joke now.

I'm a Season Ticket Holder and the
one thing that must Change in this
Whyte Era is the way in which we
are doing our Transfer Business at
the moment Why can't we do the
business behind closed doars and
once the deal is done then let the
World know This is making the
club look very un professional,
let's not take one step back
That's one thing in the last era that
MR MURRAY did get right. What's
your thoughts fellow Blue Noses??

Its Not Always Down To The Club Leaking Transfer News, Mostly Down To The Agents Trying To Drum Up Interest In Thier Clients, It Always Get Media Attention When A Player Is Linked With A Club Of Our Stature, When The Info Is Realeased The Club Have The Option To Agree Or Disagree

I think we need to be realistic We have been lied to from Mr Whyte regarding the amount of money he has to put in the team, The bids we have put in for ayers are disgraceful and embarrassing.
We are now a laughing stock in the UK. We will be out of the champions league after the Malmo game and Ally will be made the scape goat.
The future for Rangers is extremely bleak with the management and squad we have at the moment.
Why go for Goodwillie? Not that good of a striker We missed out on soany signings due to pathetic bids, now looks like Wesley Verhoek is off to Fulham as they have thrown their hat in the ring, he will choose Fulham over us as they will offer better wages.

We have to be realistic and realize that people like you are just glory hunting w***s and not rangers fans. If things are so bad don't watch, post or comment. I'm sure some other team are in desperate need of your optimism.

All this drama with goodwillie doesn't worry me at all, its bad business for rangers. With jelavic and naismith playing well togther goodwillie would more than likely be on the bench for half the season so his value would drop, 2million plus add on's is steep for a player who will only be worth one million in two years time. We need to remember what the needless spending did too us ten years ago. Over paying for players is not in Rangers best interest people, believe me.

Where's Snowy, I have not heard any decent rumours for a few days now, is Snowy still out walkin? I want to know from the best source (Snowy's da's uncles granny's brother in law) who we are rumoured with for sure....personally would like to see Goodwillie at Ibrox, but I trust in the Gers, and there's plenty time for signings yet. Be patient fellow Champions, all good things to those who wait, Ally has never done us a bad turn, he wouldn't let it happen In Ally we trust, In Rangers we believe....we'll sign who we need before the transfer deadline...Barton doubtful, Weiss no, Bartley undecided, Juhasz yes (need to bid more though) Verhoek don't know (McLaren got his nose in) Murphy he's moving down south, there'llm be plenty more on the radar, and we'll sign those who want to play for the shirt before the money talks...Ed who have you heard us linked with for definite m8? AND WHERE'S SNOWY ?? {Ed019's Note - currently linked/have made bids for Juhasz, Verhoek and tryin to bring Bedoya in. Thats about it at the moment. Were also still in discussions with Dundee Utd about Goodwillie.

i not being funny here but DG travelled down to see his manager yesterday, when he got there he was told that the manager had travelled to india. How un professional is that, that tells you all you need to about BBR. Theres no way Rangers would treat you like that. Steve Kean will get shown the door soon just like JJ did yesterday. The way those kind of clubs are run is a disgrace, so David Goodwillie why do you want to go there?? I cant see you being too happy in those chicken adverts, they are a joke.

Ally should at least try and sign Joey Barton, its highly unlikely that he would come, however, if we are prepared to pay £xm for gw, who I just dont rate, i feel we would be better taking £xm to the centre circle of ibrox and burning it, he just isnt worth the money, a squad player maybe, but even thats a push. Besides, whats the point in having strikers when we have no midfield to provide chances, our midfield has been sh*te for the past 3/4 years, our success was built on a solid defence of 9, with one up top, edu and lee mac need to be replaced, and Barton would give us legs and dig alongside davis, then we would just need two wingers and a replacement for bougie hopefully cueller and we would be fine. I hope we dont get gw, would rather spend his transfer fee on bartons wages tbh, far better player and we need him a lot more than a 2nd rate united striker, personally, i think murphy of motherwell is far better, I would even rather give heally a chance.

Me personally am more excited about Juhasz and Verhoek then goodwillie. What is everyone going to say if DG fails at Rangers? He's being built up WAY too much in my opinion. A proper winger and a defender who wants to play for Rangers is more interesting than all this DG nonsense. Will he wont he blah blah blah. Done with the whole bit. Lets move on and get the win wed and then worry about signings Have faith bears. WATP {Ed047's Note - I agree

I told you all last week that GW will not be at Rangers and he wont be

We will sign the following over the urse of the next week
Bartley - Loan
Juhasz - Replace Bougie 3mil
Verhoek - 2mil

Depending on what happens against malmo, there will be further signings if we get through decent name striker and CM

If we dont get through, Murphy will be brought in to compliment jela and Lafferty

Wait and see all, maccaintheknow

Id be quite happy with that tbh - i think we defo need murphy - now it looks like were missing out on Goodwillie.

At least having allegedly finally matched BR's offer for Goodwillie we have forced Thompson's hand. Bet he was absolutely raging when he heard he hadn't signed for BR the day Now he has to admit what we all know already- he and their manager would rather stick hot pins in their eyes than sell to Rangers. The strange way we've gone about things has been embarrassing. However, all their constant "David is better off in England" ramblings somewhat spoke volumes of their true agenda. If it were me, I'd go to Rangers just to spite them Getting what he's worth should be their only concern.

I can see Thompson going back to BR for more just to reestablish them as "highest bidder" even though it's irrelevant if he won't sign for them. Might be a bit of a stalemate. Might tick along until the end of the window at which point tight-@rse Thomo has a difficult decision to make; between the pennies and selling to Rangers (a fate worse than death).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I may be wrong here and i often am but IF Rangers have tabled the exact same deal as BR then Thomson is pretty well f**k*d as there are employment rules even in football. To deny a player freedom to choose when both bidders have tabled the same offers would be against the players best interests and i'm pretty sure against UEFA rules.
Thompson can only withdraw the sale of Goodwillie to all or try to convince BR to up their bid.I suspect he's praying for BR to up their offer.

UNITED IN MELTDOWN -
STAR REFUSES ROVERS MOVE

David Goodwillie last night went to war with Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson.
The striker who has been the target for a host of clubs feels Thompson is doing his best to wreck his dream move to Rangers.

Goodwillie, valued by the Tannadice side at £2m, has seen Thompson accept a bid from English Premier League side Blackburn Rovers, yet refuse a renewed bid from the SPL champions thought to equal if not better that offer.

The Scotland international was plotting his next move yesterday afternoon after returning from Blackburn without further talks with the club or undergoing a planned medical.

Advised by manager Peter Houston to play out the next chapter of his career south of the border, Goodwillie has made it clear to both manager and chairman, Ibrox is the preferred option.

New Rangers gaffer Ally McCoist has made no secret of his desire to link Goodwillie up with Croatian star Nikica Jelavic. The actions of Goodwillie suggest he will do all in his power, popular with his current employers or not, to make that a reality.
