Heard that Green told a supporters meeting that Liverpool have asked them to play a testimonial for Gerrard? This is going around a lot of forums. Anyone heard if this is true? {The Ed039's Note - Not a clue, asked the Liverpool Eds and they havent heard anything either)

Believable4 Unbelievable20

I'm sorry why would a club like Liverpool for a player like Gerrard choose a team in the sScottish lower leagues to play in his testimonial game, come on!!! {The Ed039's Note - Rangers and Liverpool have played many friendlies and testimonial games together. I suspect like Carragher it maybe some sort of Liverpool XI vs Everton XI but who knows. I cant even find anything about him being offered a testimonial)

Agree10 Disagree10

To 1. We might be in the bottom tier of scottish football, but have the biggest fan base. Also Gerrard lost a family member at Hillsborough and Liverpool's recent showing of respect at the Ibrox disaster memorial service and vice versa from us to them are bringing the clubs closer together. Maybe this is just another step in this mutual development and respect.
Billy B.

Agree1 Disagree6

It was actually barca who asked rangers for a game

Agree1 Disagree2

When was the last time Rangers played a testimonial in England?

Attention all Ally 'haters'

if you reckon ally is the reason we are playing rubbish, why don't you try and manage a team with NO PRE SEASON SCHEDULE, no experience in that league and most importantly the majority being the former youth team! People expect us to play like we did 2 years ago. We have an entire new squad bar what, 2 players? even one of them was slipping down the pecking order anyway. A team can't just play well together overnight. look at man united, took fergie 4 years to get the right team and look at him now - he's carved 3 full teams out of united and they've all been world class! Fergie also had his upsets, Wish you lot would **** off and give the guy a break, suprised he hasn't left with such lack of support. he keeps the teams morale high and the fans morale high, and in the situation we are in right now it is what we need! 15 or so points clear top of the league and you still aren't satisfied!

You cannot win every game, stop expecting this and calling for Ally's head whenever we drop points. they may be part timers, but we are playing youngsters who were equivelant to part timers last season. And lower division football is a whole different game to top flight.
Sorry for swearing but its really making my blood boil whenever weather fans call for the managers sacking when they lose, like its a fashion or something.

Support your team, your manager and your players.

WE ARE THE PEOPLE, THEN NOW AND FOREVER. Stevemac {The Ed039's Note -Steve, nobody is insisting that every game should be won, but a more stylish and exciting product is what is needed, with the price of an SFL3 season ticket compared to the average and the wages that we are paying players. Regardless of the set backs, the players we have should be brushing 3rd division sides aside every single week, when backs are against the wall then the players we have should be able to produce more, a better quality of attacking football. But they are not and the gaffer has to shoulder that responsibility because he puts the team out on the pitch, and he has been shown up as a poor manager, I love Ally McCoist, he is a legend and his loyalty will never be forgotten, but in my humble opinion, he should move aside for the best interests of the club because another coach will get a lot more out of the young players at his disposal and they in return will become even better again)

Believable11 Unbelievable21

Need to agree with op here ed, any and every manager who takes over the reins at RFC the now is going to come in for a barrage of criticism. On paper RFC should be able to beat every team from bottom to top but it never works out like that.

Agree2 Disagree13

Ed if a team of young boys that's been flung together should be brushing 3rd div teams aside then how did celtics 15 million team struggle to beat Arbroath.ally pick the team it's the players that are on the park playin rubbish people are to quick to shout their mouths of let's see wot he does wen he can buy players he wants in his team {The Ed039's Note - I did say that we were not expected to win every game, its the tactics that have shown Ally up, I do not rate him as a manager and its my opinion and I am entitled to as is everyone else, thats all)

Agree4 Disagree12

So on the 30th of January a lack of pre season against diddy German and Danish sides is still being prayed in aid for Ally !! {The Ed039's Note - Seems so John the Jag, and I dont agree with it either, not in this division)

Agree11 Disagree1

It's not just about this season may I remind you that under Ally we have lost to Malmo and Maribor(hardly the giants of European football) Falkirk in the cup been hammered at home by Dundee Utd & ICT in cups not to mention losing to QOS in the Ramsdens cup. We also squandered a 15 point lead to Celtic. This season he has been able to sign SPL players like Shiels, Sandaza, Black and Kyle and was able to spend £800k on Templeton. No other team in the division is able to do that. We are up against part time players and are struggling to beat them. In fact some of those teams have finished matches stronger. The continues to play players out of position and 1 up front at home. If your happy with this and the standard of football then fine. Me and many other Rangers fans expect better

Agree19 Disagree4

Totally agree with you ed,
ally is the worst rangers manager ever and it pains me to say that about such a rangers legend but he is totally inept, forget all about no preseason and having to through in youngsters, they are playing against part-timers for christ sake and as for 1 up front that makes me puke, we should be playing 1 at the back against 3rd div opposition.

iw {The Ed039's Note - A bit much with 1 at the back but I understand what you are saying and agree totally)

Agree14 Disagree4

To n.o 2 you can go on and on about this....but one thing you said we should not be quick to ask ally to move aside
think a lot of fans have know for a long time ally aren't got it do you remember when ally had the cup sides...flat as a pancake nothing there just nothing that was a while ago now....les

Agree8 Disagree1

Majority being former youth players? Alexander, Cribari, Wallace, Black, Shiels, Templeton, McCulloch have played the bulk of the games and none of them came through the youth set up. {The Ed039's Note - These players should be brushing 3rd division teams aside, but players at ALL LEVELS need guidance and they arent getting it. But I believe the youngsters need someone to push them onto the next level, and Ally isnt the man to do that, I dont believe they will improve significantly with a gaffer with such megre tactical knowhow. I dont know how many times I have to say that I hate slagging Ally, but we are talking about Ally the manager and not Ally to goalscoring machine and some people have trouble differencing the two)

Agree7 Disagree1

I'm of the opinion that we owe Charles Green and Ally for our continued presence in Scottish football, much to the annoyance of most spl clubs/fans and the sfa/spl.
However, things must progress and that must include management and players. No supporter sees us through bluer tinted glasses than me, but the standard of our play has been, in general, poor. Yes we are in pole position at our current level but we must show improvement as we prepare for next season. Like the Ed and many loyal supporters there is doubt that Ally isnt the man to take us where we would like to be.
That is why we need Mr Green to be more transparent with the plans for the club and to accept that we, presently, have no say on the re-stucture, but we do have one ace, us, the fans and our power in numbers. Tannadice for a start, then the record and mail. Just see how much the tv companies take notice and without their ratification no re-structure will take place.
Billy B.

Agree3 Disagree6

OP how does that explain last years capitulation then? We're you happy with that too? Ally had rangers pumped out of every cup very early on as well as losing to a pub team in Europe! Which pretty much led to administration due to lack of European funds into the club at a very crucial time!
So is that ok for you then?
NaCS

Agree10 Disagree6

@ 9. Your argument dies not add up. Ffs. Wish people would stop saying Europe caused admin. It's a desperate comment from those hell bent on trying to bad mouth ally mccoist. The clubs finances should never have relied on see league participation. Not with 2 sets of qualifiers. It may escape your memory but rangers didn't qualify through Prelims since 2007/08. Nor did Celtic before this season so if business plan was to rely on this then its no wonder we went down. This is something way above the first team manager.

Agree4 Disagree2

@10 (@9) I do agree with what you have said but believe that it was well publicized that rangers were in such a dire state that they needed to get into CL group stage to keep out of further trouble! This along with decent domestic cup campaigns would have kept much needed extra revenue coming into the club. Therefore, through the failure to qualify and get a decent run going in the domestic competitions, the obvious knock on affect which we have all now witnessed at Rangers was bound to happen!
I agree with you saying that this was a position that the club were put in by the board, but still the failure of ally to motivate, coach and maybe even inspire his team to victory and therefore leading to the much needed further funding to keep the club running! Then whyte had to find other methods of funding his club ie not paying the club's taxes!

Agree2 Disagree2

I hate people using the fact we are playing youngsters as a reason for the poor results we have had. From what I have seen the youngsters look more like rangers quality than the senior pros we have at the moment. These last few games have been dire and to me barrie mckay being used as a sub is the reason for those results. We are watching our senior pros struggle to string two passes together, I don't see any of them demanding the ball and showing composure when they have it. IMO our youngsters are the only players who actually make these part time players look like part timers. Our experienced players are getting dragged down to that level rather dominating it.
We should be trying something new while we are in the 3rd. I wouldn't mind drawing the odd game if we actually tried little challenges for each game such as making 100 consecutive passes or trying to end the game with 80% possesion. Get our players to use these games as practice sessions to perfect one touch passing and off the ball movement. These long diagonal punts up the park are shocking, are we really reduced to fighting for the scraps of a punt to try and create space for our strikers. Something has to change for ally, the fans won't suffer this much longer.

Agree2 Disagree0

Only got as far on the OP as the no pre season excuse which is pathetic, what do you think Annan and Queen's Park do during a pre season, spend a couple of weeks in the sun playing glamour friendlies?

Get real!

@9 a decent manager would've wipe the floor with malmo and the other lot we lost to in Europa league was a joke.

hi ed mate do you have any info on the new kit and sponsorship deal such as what companies are interested and when there may be an announcement on it. AndyBear98 {The Ed039's Note - Macron are likely to be the kit producers from what I have heard, the sponsor I dont yet know but dont be surprised if it isnt sports direct)

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Warrior and Standard Chartered, Liverpool's curent sponsors are in for it

Agree1 Disagree9

@1: strange that there's no mention of this anywhere on the web apart from here.

@2. As the site says Rumour. Its been doing the rounds for a wee while now. {The Ed039's Note - I seen it before but I have a feeling Sports Direct/Mike Ashley are all over everything just now but I could be wrong on this one, just a gut feeling)

I see the tax experts, I mean Celtic fans are back on here posting the usual dross about HMRC and what not. Isn't anyone esle bored of this? I mean seriously I thought this was all done and by with when the last verdict came back! We were guilty until proven innocent from the start and the fact everyone is still going on and on and on about it really shows the haters are out there still trying to have a kick, build a bridge and get over it!

Believable17 Unbelievable27

If you keep saying innonce what elese can folks do

Agree9 Disagree11

This is far from over.Rangers were found guilty in a percentage of the cases but HMRC are pushing for the lot. {The Ed039's Note - So have they launched an appeal? Do you know something we dont?)

Agree19 Disagree17

I don't know why people can disagree with #2! the club admitted guilt on some of the original cases then appealed the remainder. So even if the appeal isn't approved, Rangers were still found to be guilty on tax evasion albeit not to the level thought before the FTTT result came through!

Agree11 Disagree17

Deary me the tax, the accountants, the financial advisers, the stock brokers oh and the lawyers from the dark side are out in force, all I can say is that this dark side lawyers firm if it is made up of the same sort of eastenders, we have on here, we are laughin all the way to the top, a mean bank.

Agree13 Disagree11

U mean you wished it wasnt over pal.u want to keep us down .we will rise from ashes we are the only ones that will challenge in future.away an bile yir heid

Agree11 Disagree11

HMRC has sought approval to appeal against the FTTT verdict.

This was taken of BBC, so I would say there is a high chance there will be an appeal {The Ed039's Note - They are looking for approval for an appeal, what will have to be considered is if it is worth spending more millions chasing this and how little they are able to recover. I would doubt this would be sanctioned, I know they would like to set a precedent but how long would it take and it would not be financially viable for them to do so)

Agree5 Disagree6

Brilliant ed, same old p....s fae the dark side {The Ed039's Note - They were also seeking permission on the 4th December and it is now 30th Jan without any real clarity over whether they are going to do it or not, anybody know typically what a time frame is on an FTTT appeal as surely it cant be open ended)

Agree2 Disagree4

Has the time not passed for them to appeal the decision {The Ed039's Note - From what I can see the maximum amount of time the FTTT allows to appeal a decision is 56 days, today makes it 71 days since the verdict was delivered, but whether them indicating they are seeking permission to appeal does something I dont know)

why is now one asking how we are in debt when 7m season book sales and 22m share issue and in dec cg stated we had money in the bank and debt free and why cg has not made cutbacks as previous bidders stated would be needed

Believable28 Unbelievable1

Have you seen the size of the wage bill?

Green, Smith, Ahmed, Traynor & Stockbridge are on benefits packages in excess of £3M!

Agree19 Disagree2

I doubt your a rangers fan, plus everyone knows the share issue money will be in the june 2013 accounts, 7 million season book money is nothing nowadays, ibrox and Murray park take up about 4 million just to run.

Agree6 Disagree13

Revenue and capital are normally two different budgets-so you can run at a loss and still have x millions in the bank as capital.
This is normal across many companies around the world.
This is why Green keeps talking about increasing revenue streams so the club can balance the books without using our capital which should be used on new projects which in turn generate revenue-Simples.

Agree5 Disagree10

OP - don't get confused between no profit for this year and being in debt

JG

Agree3 Disagree7

Who said we are in debt? Running at a loss isn't debt, it means your annual outgoings are higher than incomings, over time that leads to debt, but higher incomes in next few years should stop this. People need to stop scare mongering! Nobody else stepped up to the plate and if it wasnt for cg then there would be no rangers, newco or oldco! Some people forget that in may 2012 the fans were worried they would not have a team to support again! We were decimated, but we survived! Drawing at home to Montrose isn't what we are used to, but we are not who we used to be! Yet!

Have time and patience, we will emerge stronger because of the trials to be overcome, I know it's saddening given recent success, but sacking people and not trusting anyone is not going to help the club! Do you honestly think that the share issue would have been allowed with dodgy proceedings in the background! It's been one of the biggest stories of the year, so if its all a scam then cg has less brains than even people who think it is!

Agree7 Disagree15

I'm hearing there's a tax bill. {The Ed039's Note - You are hearing wrong then, any new company does not receive a tax bill until after their first year of trading)

Agree8 Disagree10

Uuuhm, No Tax bill? I think that was a Craig Whyte issue. You are liable for NI and PAYE. (Pay as you earn) Have you been paying it. Nope? Here we go again!

Agree10 Disagree9

I think that's incorrect Ed. They will receive regular bills for PAYE and VAT.

People however, are confusing "Trading at a loss" as debts. Losses are eaten up by retained profits in the company. Retained profits are added to any capital introduced (share issue?) and this is how they sustain any losses they have.

Debts art things which they have still to pay such as tax or anything else they have in credit. The fact they are trading at a loss would suggest these bills are being paid.

BigBear1873

Agree4 Disagree1

@7. How do you know how much ni and paye rangers have or haven't paid?

Agree4 Disagree8

Not trying to dodge anything here. Can the great unwashed who continually come on here and honestly say that they have never dodged tax. By that I mean buying cigarettes DVD ect, which contributed to an even bigger loss to HMRC . {The Ed039's Note - Nothing to do with football or footballing issues guys, this one only got through as an example, no more will get through)

Johnny Russell and Gary mackay smith signing for crystal palace tomorrow, must give us a better chance of winning on Saturday?

Believable3 Unbelievable20

To be quite honest with you I would love us to win up there being a rangers fan I always want my team to do well, but I'm just not that sure we aren't that level yet, I don't see a great deal of difference between the spl and third division to be honest the standards very poor in Scotland as a whole, but we really don't look thatbgreatbat the back and as much as I'm enjoying the younger guys getting there chance, were very light up top, sandaza s a flop, Kyle well enough said that leaves little who infringes is a decent talent but nt exactly a prolific scorer is he.were going in thevrightbdirection but its going to take a few years yet till we can go into theses Game against the top 6 in the spl with any real confidence.but doesn't mean we shouldn't give it our best though.good luck bears lets get at them from the start.

Agree3 Disagree6

Well that only goes to show that CG and Allister were correct then. The idea is completly flawed and has not neen thought out correctly. I also see some fans groups have already complained about it. Sporting integrity seems to have been lost.

Agree5 Disagree1

Can see us getting turned over on Saturday, but we play it like a cup tie the way teams have always played against us! Give everything and see what happens, and don't have mccoist hung drawn and quartered if we get beat, the guy isn't an person! He cares about this club more than anyone, do people honestly believe that he plays two holding midfielders because he doesn't believe any other tactics exist? Also people calling the 'Brazilian' useless, learn his name! Hardly shows support when you can't even be bothers to learn the players names! Hately was murder at first, he was never called the 'English' {The Ed039's Note - I remember Hateley being called alot worse at Ibrox in the early days)

If the reconstruction is put off for a season as requested by Ally and Charlie then it means another team will win the 3rd next season and not get promotion. Will they give a hoot about whoever that team is? Don't think so! They ain't as big or as special as Rangers so it doesn't matter.

Foxy

Believable15 Unbelievable7

Maybe not but the goalposts will be set before the season starts and not moved half way through. Remember those same teams have a vote either way to accept or reject the proposed changes

JG

Agree3 Disagree6

But that team will be aware of that before the season starts. Not half way through.

Arte et Marte

Agree4 Disagree4

I think your missing the point the bigger picture would mean get promotion and yet till play same teams again following season, now tell me how's that fair

Agree2 Disagree2

They would get promotion! They would move up a league.Jeeze why can't you get your head round this?

Agree5 Disagree6

Great reply you can't change the rules mid season its a joke

Agree4 Disagree3

So donkeyasster says that all sphell clubs voted in favour of the 12-12-18 plan then you here most sphell chairmen sayin they won't be voting till they have all the facts roll on next week wen this sh*t plan gets kicked to the kerb.why does it take a week to make a decision on the title stripping wen they've been looking into it for months now {The Ed039's Note - Doncaster didnt say they had voted in favour, he said they were in unanimous agreement, but no vote was formally held)

Agree0 Disagree2

@4 we are in the bottom tier of Scottish football right now, if we win promotion we should move up a league and out of the bottom league, but that is not going to happen if reconstruction goes ahead, why can't you get your head round this. You can't change the rules half way through the season. And have you asked yourself why they are trying to do just that?

Anyone else agree that the scouting and coaching staff at rangers is in need of a massive overhaul?

First of all the scouting, the players being brought into rangers in the last few years, McKay, Stella, Ortiz, Bedoya, Cribari, and the list goes on, these players have all been duds, very average level of ability and I feel if we want to move on and improve the accounting must improve, hurts me today it but Celtic are miles ahead in their scouting system, Kayal, Wanyama, Hooper. All very reasonable signings with a very high sell on fee value, scouting at rangers must get investment and must improve.

The coaching, seems to me with what I've seen so far this season that the coaching is not upto scratch at the minute, the standard of players we have at the moment should be walking every game 3-0+ in my opinion. Also the standard and style of football we play is not attractive to watch and must improve. The level of fitness in the squad also doesn't seem great, playing against part time players the last 20 minutes of games we should be dominating with superior fitness levels but I do not see this happening. Can't help but feel they players and coaches are getting too comfortable and relaxed in their jobs, fresh eyes and new ideas are needed.

if QC's find against old co, would CG spend to defend

Believable5 Unbelievable6

Why would he he is part of a new company and had nothing to do with the old company, he would have to justify any spending to shareholders, most of whom according to reports are from various institutions and have no emotional attachment to the old company.

Forget this 'QCs' caper. It is a private members club enquiry. The private members club selected the panel to judge on the enquiry. The private members club have given the panel members the rules and employed a firm of solicitors to show the panel members where they claim RFC is at fault.

Back to football - Queens Park have 3 games in hand over us (1 at home and 2 away), they are presently 20pts behind and all the talk is of us with this large lead. I know we will win this league however QP win their 3 games and it's down to 11pts lead. Not that convincing a win.
Ally and the players need a reality check and to start playing and winning convincingly, get their act together.

Believable12 Unbelievable6

Only 20 points clear?
Bloody disgrace so it is.
If QP get it to 11, it is still a bloody disgrace. We have not played well and are still miles in front!!!

Some people need to get a grip. Its about getting back to top level, if we win league on goal difference its all that matters- won't come to that of course. Its a long road back.

Agree4 Disagree6

Wonder if that happens would all of yous come up with the same excuses of last year with celtic? Cause going by yous and your thoughts of last year since they have 3 games to play your lead only stands at 11 right now right?

Agree3 Disagree1

Points on the board are worth more than games in hand. Not remember celtic having games in hand, then bottling it inrox, mcgregor penalty save, then the bottle completely crashed against ict {The Ed039's Note - Would still much rather have points on the board)

Agree0 Disagree0

If rangers hadnt been docked 10 points last season we would have won the league because no bottle lennons team would have collapsed
