What do u think gers fans. i would like to see 16 top team league playing home and away = 30 games also all teams entering first round of both cups with no seedings either .6 extra games to make up shortfall. would give the smaller teams in our country the opportunity to grow if they play premier teams in first round. would probably earn enough money in 1 game for whole season expense then maybe have enough to spend on own infrastructure and maybe start to thrive rather than struggle to stay affloat.

scottish football is struggling and being left behind all other nations and european competition has shown that big time. sfa need to wisen up and come into modern day. if something doesn't change soon i think in 20 years there will be a handfull of proffesional teams with the rest being part time. norways 4 or 5th best team beating scotlands supposobly best team home and away convincingly shows us things have to change dramaticly but i'm sure the sfa will stay in the dark ages.

spot on, I recon gers, hibees falkirk Would do well in top league, chuck in Qos and rovers and you wouldni be far away.

08 Nov 2015 22:01:35
davie 1980 -great post - i would just go a wee bit further and make our cup competitions on home and away basis with extra time and penalties in the second legs if needed, I think Italy and some others play it that way, and of course extra games brings extra revenue for all. The extra games would also allow bigger teams to introduce some academy players like English clubs do in cups.

16 team league won't happen as it lowers the amount of old firm games sky won't have it.

09 Nov 2015 10:36:05
Well spoken Davie1980 I've been saying the same for years.
2 leagues of 16 means less teams (there are too many for a country as small as ours. The money would be more per club.
This would give us a few middle of the table clubs not at risk of relegation after a small bad run so bleeding youngsters less risky and better for country.
However I would make up the number of games by introducing a British cup. dispose of the league cup in Scotland and England and hav one big cup, giving everyone something new and interesting to play for.

09 Nov 2015 12:38:30
sky Wont have it says Ryan. Firstly this is the 4th season there hasn't been any old firm fixtures ( league) . Secondly what they Pay for one of the worlds greatest fixtures is a disgrace. Look what the likes of Bournemouth will get for playing Norwich.
Our league is dying in front of us. we have half of our SPL clubs struggling to get 3500 and one reason is we paly each other far too often.

09 Nov 2015 11:22:14
Also fans can force change. instead of going to games go to the ground. buy your ticket if you like then silent protest outside the ground throughout the game. sfa will have to take notice if all fans unite and rebel on matchdays. would make worldwide news.

09 Nov 2015 13:00:15
Totaly agree boys our game is dying in front of us. sfa are gona change cis cup to more regionalised group phase then onto qaurterfinals. this is not the answer. the problem is the league. as someone said, you can't bleed young boys in this league as there's no middle ground and sfa cant see this. with everything going on with gers; court case, mike ashley etc. if the worst comes to the worst i would like to see us start again and apply for english league.

that really would stick it to sfa. there's many teams throughout the world from 1 country playing in another. think would take around 5 to 6 years to get to championship getting promoted each year but maybe just applying would force change. our football really is bad when aberdeen get to 3rd qualifying round of uefa cup an get knocked out and that an achievement. what's happend to our game. cypriot teams kazackstan teams beating scottish teams wow our standards have dropped.

10 Nov 2015 11:09:02
At the moment there isn't old firm games. why should sky dictate our national sport. they pay us peanuts anyhow. sfa need a backbone and when sky deal runs out then change. there is enough good teams in championship to force change. and i'm pretty sure there is more than sky for broadcasting rights. in spfl your fighting for european places or fighting relegation. how can any manager throw on a young boy to give him experience then lose game and then there fighting for there lives.

all the top european leagues are bigger and that is why they have 18 and 19 year olds already played 30 top team games. football is dying rapidly in this country unless we change now but sfa can't see this. our national side is a failure. rated in pot 3 but we finished 4th so that's failure. not been to finals in years. our premier teams get knocked out by nobodys.

i mean inverness, aberdeen, st johnstone and our supposedly the best team gets beat all over europe in places like kazackstan etc. its not like there big teams in big countries. out with the old and in with the new or our game dies.

Defo a 16 play each other twice, keep the play offs and also i would start the season in june or july summer football when weather is slightly better lighter nights and with no other football on in summer i'm sure we could get a better deal from sky. take away the fear of relegation for some clubs it would encourage them to play youth. doncaster keeps spouting there would be too many meaningless games. every league has meaningless mid table games.

you could take away the europa league place for scot cup and give to a league place and with play offs you wouldn't have many meaningless games i would imagine. but there is no forward thinking from SFA or SPFL they are inept at there job and until they go our game will only get worse.

10 Nov 2015 11:51:01
A british cup would offer up more big games to appease Sky and something new and interesting to fight for.
You may only have 2 old firms a season but you could be looking at Celtic v Liverpool and Rangers v Chelsea etc to make up for it!

08 Nov 2015 10:25:06
Good result yestarday guys no complaints in that department but looking for opinions on players whos time could be up at ibrox nicky clark is 1 for me good goal yestarday but not rangers class for me won't cut it in spl and dean shiels just don't know what he brings to the team i would prefer thompson than shiels he looked good on the ball Yestarday and wanted to attack quickly aswel just wondering your thoughts.

08 Nov 2015 12:45:21
I think shiels is the kind of player needs a good run of games to be at his best, not that long ago he was spl player of the year, but agree with u Scotty about Clarke.

08 Nov 2015 12:55:31
Clark, Shiels, Law and Crawford all not good enough going forward and should all be shown the door once their contracts are up at the end of the season.

08 Nov 2015 20:05:24
Law and Shiels have had their chance one that is going to be good enough is young Thomson been very impressed by him.

08 Nov 2015 20:18:20
MW rates Nicky Clark and if we played 4-4-2 he might feature more often.
This is the player who scored 40 goals in a season for QOS.

08 Nov 2015 20:25:26
Even cammy bell could be shown the door bit injury prone and imo cost us a lot of goals last season with not comming for crosses and didn't command his area enough aird could be another one just not cutting it we need to free up some wages on wasted players and we have plenty of midfield players strikers required if am honest.

{Ed039's Note - Cammy Bell is an awful goalkeeper)

09 Nov 2015 08:54:34
agree with all the names listed above but what about Kenny Miller, seems to have lost his pace and is unable to get his shots at goal away fast enough, most of his attempts get blocked.

09 Nov 2015 14:04:33
Ok so out go!
Bell, Aird, Ball, Law, Zelalem, Oduwa, Clark, Shiels, Miller and maybe Templeton?

Thats 10 players out the door including loanees! That's a fair whack.

I would suggest we hold onto Aird, shiels and Law. I agree they haven't been our best players but we are going to need a squad for next season.

Having said that I would like to see Ball stay on. A step up in league is going to further his education so works out for him too hopefully.

09 Nov 2015 17:15:44
Is Ball not on loan till the end of the season?

{Ed039's Note - Yes, I think the poster meant he would like him to stay on next season)

09 Nov 2015 17:55:23
That's right Ed. Cheers.

09 Nov 2015 21:53:19
Why would you want to see Aird kept he is rotten.

10 Nov 2015 00:44:28
I agree Biffo. Aird seems to be a decent guy, but much like Clark, will never do a job for us imo. I'd love one or both to prove me wrong but I know this will never happen.
