Guys quick post

For those who think we should sell Tav and let Paterson take over
Who all thinks Paterson will be able to play full season all the games Tav can play and keep to that level?

Paterson great player in the making but he's not proved he can play to a good level over 50 games a season

And if we sold Tav and Paterson turns out he can't yet play that many games and keep up the performance levels where does that leave us

And what happened to having two players for each position

We should be happy Tav signed extension and we should hope he plays his career out for us
He's been terrific and such a model professional and if it needs to be Patterson gets cups and subbed on when games are put to bed and give home the game time This season and see how he progressing.

The stig how many games do you think Patterson will play tho next season? Tav is rarely injured and this could stop him progressing.

He is a young lad of course he could play every game.

KJ

I just from my own stand point see the benefit of selling out me captain for all the reasons above
Paterson could go out on loan and get game time possibly down south and let him progress and see how many games ha can handle and see how his performance levels hold up so we know for a fact he can take over when the time comes
But selling our captain of all people is a big no from me
Tav. Has stuck by our club since arriving and deserved the armband and the credit and the extension on contract and for that extension to be upheld
What a role model he’s been for young Paterson and all young players watching on
what Gerrard does over the summer will tell it’s one story on what he believes will keep us strong and make us stronger.

First captain to lead us to the title in 10 years. Marauding full-back who was scoring goals for fun before his injury. Joint top for assists in the league. Yip, get him on the transfer list so we can accommodate his understudy as he's obviously past it. Look, I can understand the desire for Patterson to play as he is obviously a fantastic talent, but to sacrifice Tav so we can accommodate him is just crazy. Playing second fiddle to Tav obviously hasn't affected the boy so far, so why don't we just be thankful we have 2 fantastic talents at the club.

BMGH he wasn’t scoring for fun before his injury he was scoring for fun 1st half of the season.

I just think at 29 it’s the right time to sell him with a ready made replacement in Patterson only my opinion.

Kja91,you can't just sell one of your best players on the assumption that it may hamper one of your younger players progress, common mate 🤔 Do you think for a second steven gerrard is desparate to sell tav 🤔 Absolutely no chance unless like with any one of our players,
that another club bids crazy money
plain and simple!

Spot on BMGH01 👍 Some on here are unbelievable and these suggestions towards tav are quite incredible as far as i'm concerned.

Anyone consider the fact that Paterson is just a better footballer than Tav. The way he took his goal at the weekend oozed class and suggests a far more natural footballing talent than most at the club - like Hagi with pace.

Do agree with KJ he hasn’t scored this year so hardly scoring goals for fun. Has done extremely well and was rightly given a new contract would be interesting to see what happens with Patterson as he does need to be a regular to progress.

Lads I have posted about Tav also, he has had an amazing season. Hopefully he can repeat this form next season. We as a club have had a hell of a season. Would I sell him yes because he has progressed Well and is worth more. I don't think there is any harm in maximizing our worth. In an ideal world we could keep and be loyal to all the players who have shown loyalty. But that won't pay the bills. If we stand still progress passes us by. I will clock in at work tomorrow just in case the Gaffer doesn't phone for my advice lol. Stay safe Bears and be kind.

Yous are splitting hairs now. My post stated he was scoring for fun before his injury, It didn't say right before his injury. Regardless of when it was, it was still this season, and for a right-back, it is bloody impressive. His last goal was Dec 13th, and he picked up his injury on Feb 18th, so 2 months without a goal. Wow! Get him out, now, right? Remind me, how long did Morelos (a striker) go without scoring? Whether anyone wants him sold, or not, he's going nowhere. This season he has scored 17 goals, with 11 assists, captained the team to its first league title in 10 years and signed a 2 year extension. He's here to stay.

{Ed001's Note - isn't he the top scoring defender in Europe? Just checked, apparently he is.}

For those of you who are on about tav's seemingly drying up of goals he's scoring get a grip! This guy's a right back and his goalscoring feats for rangers as a RIGHT BACK is incredible 👌🇬🇧 Patterson's time will undoubtedly come but tav's the right back king for now, plain and very simple for me!

He is Ed001, but apparently that's not good enough, and some want him sold. Unbelievable!

{Ed001's Note - I do find that strange myself.}

Absolute superb post again BMGH01 👌
As for ritereg saying that patterson at the minute is a better footballer than tav is incredible 😂! Patterson is a very good prospect but still a bit to go to reach tav's level for me pal🤔Like i've said, Patterson's time will undoubtedly come at rangers and i see him and young james maxwell being the 2 rangers full backs for years to come! let's just be very thankful and enjoy the fact that we've got a superb right back in tav at our club, with a very good understudy who will still get game time and eventually be tav's successor 👍.

Maybe Steven has plans to play both at times next season in different roles, they're both Full Backs, but, firstly, both are talented footballers who could play in any role, just my opinion.

I don't think Gerrard or any fans want him sold. I think its more a case of fans pointing out what would make good business sense for the club. We need to sell so selling a player nearing 30 that we have a ready made replacement for makes sense rather than selling a player that would cost us millions to replace and potentially weakening the team. 👍.

I never knew anyone wanted him sold, maybe I missed something, irvger, you have a good point mate, that’s entirely poss, I’m not sure Paterson couldn’t fill a specific role in certain games either, too good to spend a season on the bench and talented enough to play a different part.

I think that for next season the answer to this is very simple. We play our captain in 40 games, if fit, instead of 50-odd. His aspiring understudy plays the rest, offering him game time and the chance to gain more experience. I'm sure Gerrard realises this too.
