Anyone know anything about Finland centre half Robert Ivanov? I was told he is 'one of a few in Mick's book'. I take it Michael Beale is 'Mick' and this guy is a target for scouting?

1.) 19 Oct 2021 07:16:06
Why would the coaching staff suggest potential transfer targets? I thought that would be the job of Ross Wilson.

2.) 19 Oct 2021 10:22:30
The coaches will still have input, and recommend targets to Ross wilson mate.

3.) 19 Oct 2021 14:08:40
The senior coaches always have input.

4.) 21 Oct 2021 17:48:51
Personally I would have more faith in players that our Coaching Team find than in those scouted by Wilson. His track record to date isn't that great!

15 Jul 2021 15:26:44
As the new season approaches the transfer speculation and with it the speculation over the value of individual players, I think it's getting quite exciting. Last year I posted the only piece of quality information I've had for years, and it came from the brother of a director who I went to school with 50 years ago! It was regarding Morelos and he said Rangers had set their price and they were unwavering at £18.75 million, as they wanted to clear £14 million after fees to agents, lawyers, other clubs etc had been met. This has never been refuted so I am inclined to believe it is still the case.
Kamara is a £15-20 million player coming from a poor-ish league, which will impact on any fee, meaning £10 million would be a decent final outcome with strategic add-ons.
Others such as Kent and Aribo should command fees millions of pounds above their original cost to us, although a whisper I heard said the manager would find losing more than one of his top 18 players would not be acceptable as he really needs a very strong 25 to compete in the CL and to defend the league title.
A gripping few weeks to come, bears!

1.) 15 Jul 2021 16:00:11
Impossible for us to be able to name 25;A list players in our CL squad.

2.) 15 Jul 2021 16:49:13
Correct John.

3.) 15 Jul 2021 16:59:18
What are we missing to meet the criteria John25.

4.) 15 Jul 2021 17:40:35
Jzer we are missing home grown players that require to be registered in the squad. 4 from club and 4 from Nation I believe. If we can't meet the rules we have to leave a blank space instead.

5.) 15 Jul 2021 18:01:07
Jzer four players over 21, Scottish maiinly who have graduated through our academy.
Last year we only had McGregor.
In near future hopefully have Kelly Paterson and couple more.

6.) 15 Jul 2021 18:02:00
Correct park, just seen your post.

7.) 15 Jul 2021 18:05:23
Cheers parky. I never keep up with all that stuff.

8.) 15 Jul 2021 18:39:50
I didn't say the 25 would have to be named in our European squad, a bit of wishful thinking there, John25. I said the manager needs a strong 25 to compete on both fronts, the league title defence and the CL. But I suspect you knew that.

9.) 15 Jul 2021 20:13:33
Cool tav.

29 Jun 2021 02:45:10
Seems that Colombian forward Santiago Moreno is back on our radar. A figure of $3m has been mentioned.

19 Apr 2021 01:13:59
Hagi's old man is apparently seething at his son's lack of game time and that he took no part in the Celtic match, and if he has his way his boy will be on the move - again. He has supposedly approached representatives of Red Bull asking if they can do anything with one of the teams they sponsor (control) .
His dad seems to have an unhealthy influence over the lad's career. He gave him his senior debut, made him captain of the team he was managing at the time when Ianis was just 16 and he is always lurking in the background. A rumour, but it does come from Romania.

1.) 19 Apr 2021 06:59:25
Said it long ago, and il stand by it, the boy will go through many clubs in Europe, never settle or hold a position down, it will be about money,

He’s that type of player, never ever worth what some here seem to believe, mainly based on about 10 great passes.

2.) 19 Apr 2021 09:50:40
Agree tt don't think he's anywhere as good as some believe.

3.) 19 Apr 2021 10:32:18
And yet Hagi stepped up and delivered goals and assists when others were playing poorly.

4.) 19 Apr 2021 10:57:44
Tom I think you’re right however I would say I think hagi has a decent football brain and has obviously worked hard developing his skills and has a good work ethic. I just don’t think we play a system that suits him. I think he needs to be in the middle linking midfield and striker type of player. I do believe he will finish his career much traveled.

5.) 19 Apr 2021 12:59:17

6.) 19 Apr 2021 13:46:43
That’s true deeb.

7.) 19 Apr 2021 16:30:19
Think your being a little harsh on hagi TT. Don't think many on here claim he's a world beater but he's a good season.
He's played 40 games so far this season, 7 goals, 12 assists.

8.) 19 Apr 2021 16:46:41
I like Hagi great wee player at our level, can only improve and make us money same as Kent in that he’s been inconsistent and lightweight since he arrived but will improve have a belter of a season next season and move on for a decent wage for us.

9.) 19 Apr 2021 17:30:02
Stepped up? .

It’s what he is paid for, stepped up indeed, amazing what my name can conjure, he’s playing for Rangers on very big money, he can’t get a game, he’s expected to “ step up”

Do you think Rangers pay him for nothing?

Deep, who said a word about airfield?

kJ, have a lie down warrior.

10.) 19 Apr 2021 17:49:39
😂 tom.

11.) 19 Apr 2021 18:06:37
Hagi has talent that's clear to see but what the boy needs is a few seasons at the same club where he could settle in and develop. Unfortunately I think his father's influence will destroy his career. Moving for financial not footballing reasons. I think give jim couple years with us he will be a top attacking talent.

12.) 19 Apr 2021 20:47:45
What do the stats say about Hagi this season?

Hopeless or maybe integral to our goals against certain types of opposition?

Different opponents need a different approach.

13.) 20 Apr 2021 08:15:30
Hagis 21 don't forget. he has most certainly played his part since he's came to gers. Remember braga for 1. if Paterson has couple bad games we gona sell him too.

14.) 20 Apr 2021 10:18:32
Hagi is good for us, but certain games don't suit certain players. If we played a 4-2-3-1 i'd see Hagi getting more games in the No10 but in big games when we go for 3 sitting in the middle he will always be sacrificed because wide right of the forward 3 doesn't suit him (or another way of looking at it is that Aribo is a better option out there) . Gerrard got his tactics spot on against Celtic. Aribo was excellent in the forward right role and Arfield gave more bite in with Davo and Kamara in the middle.

15.) 20 Apr 2021 13:31:37
I didn’t say sell him did I?

I said he will get through plenty of clubs because he’s that type of player

16.) 20 Apr 2021 14:20:20
I think hagi will still be here next season, he will progress and play a bigger part for us, remember the likelihood is that Kent will be going to Leeds for £15+M so hagi could take his place with another young promising player coming in to challenge him.
I do see him moving the following summer probably to Italy for decent money. I then think he’ll end up in Spain after that. He’s a technically very gifted player with a great brain and good numbers many clubs would be interested in him when he finds his top form.

An old colleague who has retired to Bodrum in Turkey tells me today there's a story kicking round there that Trabzonspor are interested in signing Borna Barisic. Probably just throwing names out to keep their fans happy, which is a sport in itself in Turkey.

1.) 26 Mar 2021 16:02:38
I honestly think borna barisic could well be sold because of age and sell on value will start diminishing soon 🤔I however hope to god we don't sell borna, as i truly believe he'll be one of the most difficult to replace 😂.

2.) 26 Mar 2021 16:13:40
Think personally myself borna with coming up to 30 will want a big move to a top league b4 he retires.

3.) 26 Mar 2021 17:30:34
Borna will not be leaving for a club like Trabzonspor.

4.) 26 Mar 2021 19:22:10
Dk19 how do you know lol. fact is you don't know.

5.) 26 Mar 2021 19:38:04
Just an opinion DD same as you and everyone else on here - trust that’s ok?

6.) 26 Mar 2021 20:43:20
along with a rumour? surely dk!

7.) 26 Mar 2021 22:09:19
Roma apparently where he will be gong.

8.) 27 Mar 2021 09:03:27
I think at Borna’s age he is more likely to stay to play champions league football win trophies and play for a club he loves.

9.) 27 Mar 2021 09:45:16
Like a lot of our players the Euros could be pivotal. If any perform to a high standard we might cash in.
I want all our top players to stay but we do need to be prudent and the odd £10-20m player sale strengthens our bank balance and options to replace players.
In a perfect world we qualify for Champions league group stage giving us an opportunity to strengthen again further.
How this squad has evolved value wise in 4 Windows is remarkable.
Kamara £50k, Aribo dev fee, Barisic £2m, Kent £7m umpteen brilliant Bosmans and Alfredo before that for £1m squad must be worth £50-100m easily.

Over the coming days we will all remember our individual Walter stories and memories. 30 years ago I joined the youth coaching team at Ibrox, thinking at the time that my heart would burst with pride at such an honour after working for many years at boys club level.
When we were coaching the 15/ 16s on the astroturf across the road, occasionally Archie Knox or even Walter would stroll over and drop in a word or two to the starstruck youngsters. At first, obviously, Walter had no idea who I was but would chat to all the coaches present and included everyone. He also sometimes brought Steven, his son, with him and he would join in with the other kids, understanding that maybe it wasn't always easy to be the son of Walter Smith and relax with other kids of a similar age.
Then one horrid, cold, wet night at about 8.30pm we had finished our session and I was dragging two bags of balls across to the stadium. The wee door was closed as there was a s****y function taking place inside so I had to go in the big doors. A dinner suited Walter appeared at the top of the stairs and opened the door for me, saying "What a dirty night" - and he called me by my name! He had gone to the trouble of asking John Chalmers (the head of youth coaching at the time) who I was and this was just his wee way of making me feel part of the team.
After that we met many times at scouts and coaches meetings, at functions and even pre-party drinks in the Blue Room. I saw him offer congratulations to people for the most minor achievements and I saw him tear strips off others for falling below Rangers standards. I was lucky never to be on the receiving end of an icy tirade from the Gaffer.
I will remember a great man who knew he was touched by destiny and was all the more humble for it. He could make grown men cry then they'd go out on the pitch to die for him.
If the measure of a man is how many people grieve for his passing, then Walter Smith was the highest, highest calibre.

1.) 27 Oct 2021 00:42:27
Cool story but one thing is bothering me and its what's a s****y function?

20 Sep 2021 00:44:46
Been out of commission for a couple of days. Can anyone tell me if Patterson was injured or just wasn't picked in the 18? If it's the latter, then that is a disgrace.

1.) 20 Sep 2021 02:35:24

2.) 20 Sep 2021 08:46:17
Tav son was fit, not picked.

3.) 20 Sep 2021 14:04:42
No disgrace that I can see.
We are only allowed 7 subs.
Balogun can cover CH and RB.
Bassey can cover CH and LB.
It makes sense to make them our defensive cover.
I expect he might feature against Livi.

18 Aug 2021 13:10:37
According to Sky, SG says we'll be signing a midfield player in the next couple of days.

1.) 18 Aug 2021 13:30:11
Where abouts tav? Can't find it on sky sports!

2.) 18 Aug 2021 13:40:06
Gerrard said in his presser we are looking to bring another centre mid in in the coming days maybe even announce something by kick off tomorrow. Exciting stuff. Just what we need with Jack being out it will allow us to keep aribo and hagi further forward.

3.) 18 Aug 2021 13:52:15
It’s on banner under spfl, his interview says hopes to hear tonight, mb announced tomorrow b4 game.
I just hope it’s his first choice Veerman.

4.) 18 Aug 2021 14:05:19
El buff I wonder if jacks op not working way we hoped.

5.) 18 Aug 2021 14:14:45
Dutch media now saying we have offered a 7 million package for veerman.

6.) 18 Aug 2021 14:23:46
It's bacuna from Huddersfield.

7.) 18 Aug 2021 14:25:05
Latest rumours I have seen is bacuna from Huddersfield?!

8.) 18 Aug 2021 14:26:00
First thing I thought John was that Jacko has had a set back. He makes us a different team in the midfield he does a job no one else in our midfield does so seems right to bring a replacement in for him and we don’t need to rush him back as quick. Who knows though just hope wee jacko is back soon and this new midfielder can hit the ground running.

9.) 18 Aug 2021 14:38:02
A guy told me at Real Madrid game he was finished.

10.) 18 Aug 2021 14:39:42
Wonder who katic is going to Spezia?

11.) 18 Aug 2021 14:40:09
What is your source me2.

12.) 18 Aug 2021 14:47:18
Just on loads on Facebook rangers pages, one of the blokes follows Huddersfield, says he is a bit of a hut and miss can be brilliant one game and missing the next but has a decent shot on him.

13.) 18 Aug 2021 14:50:14
Think will almost certainly be bacuna. Decent player apart from his 50 yard own goal 😂.

14.) 18 Aug 2021 14:57:18
Cheers me2. Not a very inspiring signing.

15.) 18 Aug 2021 15:00:46
John25, which media is reporting this? I really hope its true and we can get Veerman in. Would be a great boost to the squad adding that sort of quality.

16.) 18 Aug 2021 16:56:19
John I Think going to Italy would be perfect for Niko help him brush up on his defensive skills at a club where there isn’t much pressure. Think he’ll still be an important player for us in the future love the big guy. Although at the same time wouldn’t be opposed to him going to a Hearts/ Hibs/ Sheep on loan 🤷🏻‍♂️.

17.) 18 Aug 2021 17:32:41
Hearts hibs sheep all have plenty defenders, don’t need one they won’t play
I’d heard if Scotland Motherwell or st mirren were options.

18.) 18 Aug 2021 18:12:29
John I hope it is veerman and not bacuna as I ain’t overly joyed about the latter but will still get behind him.

19.) 18 Aug 2021 18:36:01
Absolutely storm we sign him we back him. Seeing Yorkshire papers saying we r paying 2.6 million.

20.) 18 Aug 2021 19:23:01
Good point John either way I’d much prefer him to go to an Italian side and get some good game time. As for the midfielder only time will tell I would prefer Veerman, from what I’ve heard Bacuna can be a great player on his day but is too inconsistent. Reminds me of a couple guys in the current squad. Maybe with better players he would up his game but we will see. I trust the management team on this and centre mid is what we need just now in this squad.

21.) 18 Aug 2021 19:29:19
John25 I also heard at the Madrid game that Jack was finished. As you will have noticed I have posted on here about the huge amounts of games he has missed and how we couldn't build anything on that. It was my way of trying to say he was finished but I knew if I came right out with it on here I'd get crucified. Thanks for making that rumour public mate.

22.) 18 Aug 2021 21:53:01
Surely it would have been made public by now? Jeezo hope not true.

10 Aug 2021 17:28:27
As regards this new 'third' top. I tyink it's safe to say that the vast majority of fans will be disappointed and dismayed.
Most of us had hoped it would be based on the original Rangers top, white with a blue star, to salute and remember our gallant pioneers who started this epic journey.
This is a golden opportunity missed commercially, because I am convinced sales will be poor while a proper commemorative top would have flown off the shelves. I'm sure this will cost both us and Castore a lot of money and will not endear those involved to the support. In fact, serious questions need asked here about who within Ibrox agreed to this awful thing being foisted upon us.

1.) 10 Aug 2021 17:54:44
100% mate wanted to go back to the start.

2.) 10 Aug 2021 17:56:33
I think it's just a rip off now they've released about 10 different tops and training tops screwing the fans for every penny.

3.) 10 Aug 2021 17:57:52
You can rest assured that their will be a 150yr top available next year.

4.) 10 Aug 2021 17:59:32
The purple top is horrific.

5.) 10 Aug 2021 18:01:35
I’m told it’s Robertson and bisgrove who select the strips.

6.) 10 Aug 2021 18:04:10
Agree 100% tavson, the strips have been a big let down this year.

7.) 10 Aug 2021 18:09:11
Looks like a ladies top.

8.) 10 Aug 2021 18:09:13
3 cheers like they done with the retro top no doubt Castore are taking rangers fans for mugs with the amount of stuff getting put out.

9.) 10 Aug 2021 18:11:25
The purple top is atrocious
Why out of 3 tops have we not had a modern take on the original white jersey with blue star on the chest.
They’d best have something up they’re sleeve as I’m not impressed.
Lastly does anyone else think all the training tops are nicer than our actual kits? The orange ones a belter. The white one as an away top would’ve been a cracker.

10.) 10 Aug 2021 18:19:28
And we have to wear it tonight. Disappointed we can't wear our home kit.

11.) 10 Aug 2021 18:25:26
How are they screwing the fans for every penny Aye Ready?
You don't need to buy them if don't want them. At least the club now makes big money from the sales of the castore gear.

12.) 10 Aug 2021 18:28:37
If that's the case, John25, they need to seek more informed advice on what their loyal consumers want. Probably a white strip will appear early next year and as usual we will lap it up. I fully understand that the club needs to capture as many sources of revenue as possible, but this purple monstrosity won't do that ans smacks of fleecing.

13.) 10 Aug 2021 18:29:56
Correct three cheers.

14.) 10 Aug 2021 19:11:55
I think we have brought that purple kit out for our female supporters! If they like the top then we will sell plenty, but I agree, it isn't a kit that would motivate me to spend money on it, apart from, for my grand daughter, that is. Looking forward to a commemorative strip in 2022!

04 Aug 2021 19:20:49
Any update today on Aribo, Hagi, Morelos or even Jack?

1.) 04 Aug 2021 20:51:55
We need Aribo, Hagi and Morelos back for next week. Unfortunately I suspect that Jack is still not fully fit which is a real problem with Kamara suspended.

2.) 05 Aug 2021 07:25:36
Gérrard said that Jack has got a meeting with the specialist to get the all clear for getting back into full throttle training. So fingers crossed next week he can start getting tore in again with the squad but I would imagine it will be a wee while before he's fully fit and up to speed and available for selection.

I'm not on twitter but I was sent a screenshot of a Rangers account which congratulated Defoe on his punditry and looked forward to seeing him back at the training ground. I've asked one of the twitterati to check it and it seems it's on there.

Rangers Football Club
Great to see one of our coaches on punditry duty today.
Looking forward to having JD back at our training centre to continue his development as a coach whilst playing a key role within our squad.

Baxterboy not only have I met him many times (even had meals with him), I have also interviewed him and believe me, he is a big-headed, bigoted, arrogant balloon and a known cheat to boot. Even some of his own kind don't like him, so don't try to lay your nationalist faux outrage on those who merely speak the truth.

Wilson can't be away to Manchester today as he's playing for the under 18s against Motherwell.
