The Sun reporting Potter was approached for rangers job and potter rejected us. If true, then there must be some substance to a lot of the posts on here recently with regards to beale being sacked.

1.) 13 Sep 2023 20:26:48
Must be true if it was in the sun ?.

2.) 13 Sep 2023 21:16:09
If its in the sun it has about a 1% chance of being true and that's me being generous.

3.) 13 Sep 2023 21:46:30
If this was true, I think Sky sports would of been all over it, like a cheap suit.

4.) 13 Sep 2023 21:55:16
Agree brummie sky sports would have been all over it more than the sun.

5.) 13 Sep 2023 21:57:46
It can pretty much be discounted if it has been reported in the SUN.

6.) 13 Sep 2023 22:16:58
I believe Chelsea are still paying Potter compensation. If he takes us on maybe he loses that? If he doesn't want us he doesn't want us. Muscat available in December. Still a few other names out there.

7.) 14 Sep 2023 00:05:52
I’d be surprised if the club weren’t approaching people and holding talks as it’s only a matter of time IMO. Any more points dropped and he’s gone. possibly gone regardless.

8.) 14 Sep 2023 00:23:40
Potter Reid and the other coaches in their regular set up etc are football people and will want to work in the game, the compen he gets whether it's affected by taking a job or not would still be massive if he found work. but maybe they all have hobbies or like shopping with the wives . Chelsea couldn't cover themselves for any and every job he may take, he might fancy buying Solihull Moors fc and be a hometown hero?

9.) 14 Sep 2023 07:25:57
I can’t find this online in the Scottish sun and only a dated link in the normal sun. Wonder why they aren’t reporting it on both online platforms considering it’s a Scottish team.

10.) 14 Sep 2023 07:32:29
Really don't think we could afford Potter even if he was interested.

Reckon the story is more Beatrix Potter.

11.) 14 Sep 2023 07:38:15
Stopped reading after"Tbe Sun"

12.) 14 Sep 2023 09:00:35
Rangers couldn’t attract a manager like Potter. He makes stupid money on gardening leave. Why take a massive payout to go to Ibrox and potentially be unemployed again in less than 12 months? Celtic had a winning season last year, they have more money than ever before, and the best manager they could get last gummed had just been relegated from the EPL - And they were lucky to get him.

Rangers once sacked a manager at this point in a season. Went to get a replacement and was rejected (the same Derek McInnes many on here want appointed as manager now) which was nothing short of incompetence by the board. Rangers had to appoint an interim manager and we got battered from pilar to post until the end of the season.

If the board are going to rip up Beale’s project, before it’s even had a chance to come together, they would need an outstanding candidate ready. Even then, this new manager may have plans to implement a totally different brand of football. He may want his own players, he may not like most of the guys we just signed, and the window shut just a couple of weeks ago. The Rangers fans would need to be willing to write this season off and we’ll try again next year when they will want whoever the new manager is sacked after two weeks because we got a dodgy VAR decision in an Old Firm game and it cost us the points.

I think Beale will be given time. If we sack him then we are a basket case club who will struggle to find a replacement willing to take us on. I know this because I’ve seen it all before. One time, we had to finish the rest of the season with an interim manager called Murty who got battered from pillar to post for a year. If Beale is sacked, and we can’t find a replacement at the moment, maybe Murty will get the gig again ?‍♂️.

13.) 14 Sep 2023 09:42:53
People are also suggesting we go after, Knutsen. That guy loves it at Bobo and has never left his home country. He will get plenty of offers and I can’t see why he would consider u in this situation. He would be walking in second place but if he doesn’t win the league he’ll be sacked before the summer, or a few games into next season after a VAR decision goes against him. He’ll view us as a basket case not worth taking on.

We couldn’t even convince McInnes to manage us at one point. Stevie Clark said Rangers were a sectarian club and swerved them as a player. Who would we get to come in here and turn us into instant winners?

Beale is already winning 71.5% of the games he plays. More than any manger in the history of our club. It’s not enough, he needs to beat Celtic and win all the trophies in the first 6 months too. The level of unrealistic expectation has become toxic.

14.) 14 Sep 2023 09:44:44
Maybe Potter would like to see his assistant Billy Reid and his other friends and coaches in work, they have been together a long time, and maybe being in football is just as important as money, yes that would be strange these days but not impossible.

15.) 14 Sep 2023 09:54:50
"Beale's project? What does that even entail verdant? I don't even think Beale knows? ??
The journalist (?) who broke this story is an English based hack for the English sun, not the one up here.

16.) 14 Sep 2023 10:29:44
I imagine if potter wanted another post then he would negotiate with Chelsea for a lump sum. say 3 years pay. Win win for both. However he's not coming to rangers.
And as for Europe. need the cash but we may be outplayed again due to financial disparity. It'll be like Scotland England match. Men against boys. And yes it hurts to say that. God I hope I'm wrong.

17.) 14 Sep 2023 10:42:19
Potter DOF? got a good team around him smart guy and him and Billy found some real gems, Billy always has had an eye for a player right back to Accies days.

18.) 14 Sep 2023 12:25:53
Gardening leave is misunderstood. If for example potter did accept the rangers job then Chelsea would have to come to an agreement regarding his contract. They only use the term gardening leave so that they can spread the cost of his sacking over several months. He will have a clause in his contract stating how much he will receive if he is sacked in relation to the length of contract. To even assume that he is still employed by Chelsea is ridiculous and any tribunal would agree.

19.) 14 Sep 2023 13:07:51
SKY Sports are all over it, they are saying it has been reported in the SUN. He might have been sounded out to see if there was any interest and he likely said no.

20.) 14 Sep 2023 15:56:22
Billy Reid his long term friend and assistant would come to Rangers I think, so Potter should not be ruled out .

Not talking while there is a guy in the job is the right thing to do, what the rags might do is speak to Reid and the other 2 coaches Potter had. Will be same answer more than likely "no comment " or "get oot my garden you're annoying the dug "

21.) 14 Sep 2023 22:47:26
Verdant Clarke family leans to Celtic but the man himself hates the religion thing in city doubt he would take rangers or Celtic jobs.

22.) 14 Sep 2023 22:50:31
Beale has no plan it's just buy as many forwards as can an see what sticks so far nothing has.

23.) 15 Sep 2023 09:18:23
Verdant, he might be winning 71.5% of games but to repeat what many are saying, he isn't winning the ones that matter and to win the League we need to beat Celtic, to progress in Europe we need to beat quality teams and at the moment the only trophy in Scotland where we can win it without beating Celtic is the League Cup, (which for me is pretty meaningless) .
I want Beale to be successful but sometimes quality coaches can't make the step up, just as promotion in any Business. It doesn't always work.
As for Rangers being able to attract a top quality coach, never say never. We did it when we secured Advocaat and I believe that we can certainly do it again, even playing in Scotland.
Let's wait and see what happens when our Chairman takes on the role full-time. He certainly isn't doing that for the benefit of his health.

Just read online that Butland is having medical with rangers today. Does anyone know if its true?

Apparently Raskin deal finally agreed late last night. Could be announced today. Let's wait and see.

ThornwoodBear

1.) 30 Jan 2023 09:20:18
Rangers have reached full agreement to sign Nicolas Raskin, here we go! Deal in place with Standard Liegi on permanent move ?? #RangersFC

Paperworks between clubs today, while personal terks are already agreed. Been told contract will be valid until 2027.

2.) 30 Jan 2023 09:36:07
20% seems a big sell on clause considering he has had a season left at standard. Let’s get him in though ?.

3.) 30 Jan 2023 09:36:48
Great news hope it’s a contract to summer 2028 and not 2027 but beggars can’t be choosers.

4.) 30 Jan 2023 09:49:26
Very very happy he will be our main cm.

5.) 30 Jan 2023 09:52:07
(Half a season) not (had a season)

6.) 30 Jan 2023 09:54:55
Broxi the 20% is a boaker, however if we are paying that out in the future it means he has been a success.

7.) 30 Jan 2023 10:44:38
The 20% sell on fee is a sore one, but needs must!

8.) 30 Jan 2023 11:09:24
Correct be. This guy holds a 10 million valuation.
I’m told it’s 17.5. Hopefully we heat.

9.) 30 Jan 2023 12:14:08
Have heard, 2m no sell in fee.

10.) 30 Jan 2023 16:23:47
Can anyone tell me any club that matched us as far as I can gather every other club were willing to wait until summer ?

Think we have made mugs of ourselves here and every other club will now see us coming and still concerned the cantwell fee has not been disclosed.

19 Jan 2023 17:00:13
Read on facebook via rangers review that rangers are in advanced talks to sign raskin.

ThornwoodBear

1.) 19 jan 2023 17:12:28
these things shoukd have been done last summer, buthopefully the board are lossening the purse strings.

2.) 19 Jan 2023 17:31:45
Pre contract at the moment.

3.) 19 Jan 2023 17:39:42
Better late than never fingers crossed we get him.

4.) 19 Jan 2023 17:46:14
New poster w daft laddie question. Doesn't Raskin play CAM like Cantwell and if so why are we looking to sign both? Sorry if I'm wrong about this.

5.) 19 Jan 2023 17:54:34
MistahJimmy he’s similar to Davis. Can grab a game with the scruff of the neck and dictates play.

Think a lot of people will be surprised about him.

6.) 19 Jan 2023 17:56:37
Raskin plays deeper Mistah, he'll be very much in the engine room. Proper centre mid.

7.) 19 Jan 2023 18:13:42
From what I've heard he's more of a CM who dictates play, not exactly amazing defensively or offensively but works hard, good at beating a press and making those killer balls and apparently a leader.

8.) 19 Jan 2023 18:16:12
No, Raskin is not a CAM. He’s a high energy, ball winning, CDM. Apparently he’s quite good with the ball in the transition meaning, once the ball is turned over, he has a good range of passing to get the ball up to the attackers before the opposition defense can reorganise.

9.) 19 Jan 2023 18:28:36
Thanks lads appreciate the clarification.

10.) 19 Jan 2023 18:49:36
Again looking at various Youtube clips, Raskin, like Whittaker, looks fairly average. He seems to play a Barry Ferguson type role (maybe with a more defensive emphasis) but doesn’t have any of the effortless grace on the ball. Connor Barron looks better at applying the press and winning the ball, and seems much quicker with the ball at his feet.

11.) 19 Jan 2023 19:55:25
Connor Barron the guy who can't struggles to get a start for Aberdeen? The guy who Aberdeen fans say isn't good enough for them? That Connor Barron?

Just seen on facebook and confirmed on Falkirks twitter that Juan Alegria has been recalled by Rangers. Wonder if he will get a chance in first team or sent back to our B squad in lowland league?

ThornwoodBear

1.) 13 Jan 2023 09:17:19
B team has more players than the main team.

2.) 13 Jan 2023 09:38:02
I’m not sure why folk are thinking he’ll get a chance in the first team? He went on loan to Partick and was awful and hardly played, he then dropped down a league to Falkirk and again was pretty average, couldn’t nail down a starting place and spent the majority of his time in the bench (probably the reason he’s been recalled) . Can’t imagine we’re thinking about throwing him in with the first team, more likely they will look to loan him somewhere that he will actually be able to nail down a starting place.

3.) 13 Jan 2023 09:38:46
100% B team. Weston has also been recalled nowhere eben close to 1st team.

4.) 13 Jan 2023 10:29:21
He couldn’t cut mustard at Thistle and wasn’t much better dropping down to League 1.
I’d imagine we either have another club lined up for other loan, or feel he needs to develop his skill set with our own coaches for the time being in B side who are a league below League 2 in Lowland league.
Could be better for confidence dropping down further and rediscovering his goal scoring prowess and confidence before maybe getting loaned out either at end of window or in summer.

5.) 13 Jan 2023 12:00:21
Paul hearing Weston could go on loan to Falkirk, John you heard anything about that?

6.) 13 Jan 2023 13:43:22
No Beale, but Weston needs todo something, out of contract June. I see him moving on.

7.) 13 Jan 2023 14:03:38
Cheers John.

8.) 13 Jan 2023 15:05:41
Ger more likely they will realise not good enough and cut loses move him on.

9.) 13 Jan 2023 15:12:03
How much did we pay for Weston John?

I know I posted on the rumours page about that article in the English sun. I did so because for days there were plenty of posts on here about whether Beale has or will be sacked. I saw that article and put a post up about it. It wasn't an inside source, I don't have any, just a post about an article I read. I want and hope Beale turns this around.

He's changed the squad quite significantly and I think it would be harsh to get rid of him after 4 games. I'm disappointed with that week against PSV and Celtic as well. A week I was looking forward to. Seeing us qualify for champions league and go top of the league. Didn't happen, but I'll back Beale as long as he's our manager and I hope he gets us back to winning on Saturday.
