does anyone know which players have been recalled from their loan periods? I heard McDowell was thinking about doing this, but haven't seen anything since.

wee bill

1.) 17 Jan 2015 18:52:28
why have 5 people clicked on unbelievable to this? it is merely a question or do they not understand the post? would be interested in Ed's opinion on this, it makes me wonder why I bother and reading some of the "expert" fan postings no wonder our club is going nowhere, the fans havn't a clue what they want

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea why people do that, could just be people making a mistake on a touchscreen. We are intending to change it in the future, so that you can change your mind if it was a mistake, and remove your vote or change it to the other option.}

2.) Thanks Ed - nice to see sanity prevail!!

3.) I believe Craig Halkett, Calum Gallagher, Tom Walsh and Robbie Crawford all came back with Barry McKay, Luca Gasparotto & Danny Stoney all still out on loan. I could be wrong though as we obviously will never see them until they leave for free!

18 Aug 2014 18:46:41
apparently Stoke are wanting to offload Jamie Ness. Worth a punt since we need midfielders?

wee bill

{Ed039's Note - He is on loan at Crewe until January 5th)

1.) Pity about that I think Ed

2.) We have no money!!

3.) To be honest, no thanks. another one who seen his chance to jump ship!!

4.) Hes not welcome back at ibrox. after all the support rangers gave him through his injuries he jumps ship at the 1st oportunity

5.) Agree with the above posts that boy was taken all over Europe by Rangers to get to the bottom of his injury problems. Had it not been for the club he might have had to chuck the game and he rewarded us by jumping ship. Like the others he should never be welcomed back

6.) Stewie total agreement fae me mate you beat me to the post I though exactly the same as soon as I saw his name lots of our support seem to have short memories eh

7.) 19 Aug 2014 22:32:23
once a traitor always a traitor

8.) He couldn't get out quickly enough and has hardly had a kick at Stoke, there's a moral there, thanks but no thanks.

9.) 22 Aug 2014 15:16:37
no way. decent prospect but legged it so quickly it was almost before the first opportunity. not welcome back.

just a thought - murray davidson is only signed up at st johnstone until august? would he fit the bill if ally can still sign a midfielder?

wee bill

1.) 26 Jul 2014 16:16:19
is he any good?

2.) 26 Jul 2014 20:20:06
murray davidson is not good enough for rangers he is to similar to nicky law and other midfielder's we have. I would love to see burkey back at ibrox a wide player with flare and pace instead of ally sticking a defender in a wide position it is going to be a long hard season I fear. ed while I am on have you heard anything about the investigation into duff and phelps handling of the administration its been a while since we heard anything. and if it is found they acted illegaly would it make any difference to the current rangers board.

3.) Why do u say that every player we sign will double in wages when we get back to the premiership when it is simply untrue?

4.) I never said all players I said Murray Davidson that comes to 1 player

in my opinion its not the quality of the youngsters that's the problem, its the quality of the coaching. Top teams in England and Europe seem to be able to bring on their kids so the coaching methods AND the coaches themselves must be a big factor.

If we want to produce talent we have to get TOP QUALITY coaches in. has anyone actually gone on our website and had a look at the QUANTITY of backroom staff? practically full of unknown people no doubt picking up good money but for what exactly? no end product means failure so maybe that's where we should be looking.

wee bill

1.) 17 Jan 2017 19:18:39
Time will tell when the current crop of 15/ 16 year olds should be breaking through, until then it's hard to be too critical of the current coaches given the mess they inherited

2.) 17 Jan 2017 21:22:06
I don't agree wee Bill, a youth coach doesn't have to be a famous ex player to be a decent coach, in fact a lot of ex pros make very average coaches and I think we have made that mistake way too often with the jobs for the boys mentality.
Our youth coaches have been in place for less than 18 months, a total new philosophy is in place, the older youths have been released so that the really young guys with potential are being pushed into games with older, physically bigger opponents with the aim they will develop quicker.
Time will tell if it produces but I don't c how we can be negative about a youth set up that's been in place for just over a year

3.) 17 Jan 2017 23:17:00
I was involved in youth coaching at a very high level. Coaches who came from the professional playing ranks found it difficult to relate to the kids and to teach them anything much at all. The boys related far better to other coaches who had good communication skills and the ability to pass on knowledge. Most of these coaches were 'unknown people'. Even the Liverpool set-up under Steve Heighway was peppered with 'unknown people'. All the best set-ups had a mixture of both, and indeed I worked for some time in a partnership with someone you would all consider to be a Rangers hero. It's not names we need, it's knowledge and understanding combined with patience.

4.) 18 Jan 2017 20:56:19
Our academy under warburton has been totally revamped, our coaches are first class, and btw our academy will produce real quality in the next 5 years

11 Jan 2017 14:47:11
i'm afraid my opinion on loaning out our youngsters is not in line with some opinions, i feel that loaning them out to diddy teams with ramshackle stadiums and no atmosphere is turning our younguns into diddy players, what exactly is the benefit? they would be far better playing EVERY week in our under 20 team and LEARNING something
worthwhile
dontshoot me down, its MY opinion, and the proof is in the fact that hardly any of them make the grade by being loaned in this way

wee bill

1.) 11 Jan 2017 15:05:01
McKay did, he was loaned out before and now look at him.

Warburtons approach is that they get a better playing experience playing against older players and pro's than playing against others their own age. Another thing is that when a pampered player from our set up takes us for granted and the facilities they have for granted sending them on loan is a good way to tell them to find another gear to make the grade or they simply won't make it.

2.) 11 Jan 2017 17:05:12
Wee Bill I can't agree going out on loan to lesser clubs make these young players appreciate what they have at Rangers I used to be at Murray Park two to three nights a week and I was told McKay was getting a bit big for his boots and thinking he had made it started slackening off they sent him out on loan to a wet and windy Morton now we see a player who knows which side his bread is buttered on

3.) 11 Jan 2017 18:18:07
McKay is the exception sadly. Only today another 3 young players sent out on loan have been released. Another example of Rangers not sending them on loan to improve but to get them off the wage bill

4.) 11 Jan 2017 19:45:55
You're attitude to the lower leagues is stinking. Easter Road and Tannadice attract more fans than half the SPL. Morton vs St Mirren pulled in over 5,000 the other week. Playing with seasoned pros in a competitive environment sorts the men from the boys. Just as it done for McKay.

5.) 12 Jan 2017 15:12:45
Absolutely agree 100% wee Bill. It's what they call a self fulfilling prophecy. Playing at these grounds with no atmosphere, ramshackle stands and half wits bawling and shouting at you is not the answer.

11 Jan 2017 14:26:40
Halliday and Tavernier are the main cause of our defensive problems, Halliday always giving the ball away and Tavernier posted missing at right back

i keep reading posts criticising King etc but does nobody realise that until Ashley has been despatched to the waste bin, nothing great will happen. He is holding us to ransom and until THAT ransom is paid off in full, he will continue to destroy our club. The priority must be to pay this guy of NOW and then and only then, we can see some light at the end of a very dark tunnel, so let's just remember its not just a football team that King and Co are running, it's a business that is still in intensive care and has a long struggle ahead until we take care of the Ashley problem

wee bill

1.) 10 Jan 2017 12:37:13
well said wee bill I for one have a brain in between these ears but can't for the life of me understand the rangers fans that expect king and co to put up their own money when we can't make a profit while the fat rat holds all the cards

2.) 10 Jan 2017 13:44:37
The Three Bears and the Two Far East Rangers fans have given significant funds to the Club by way of Soft Loans. King on the other hand has been full of bull and is potentially only making matters worse in his personal battle with Ashley.

The Ashley scenario is a perfect excuse for King not to part with any cash and for me he is just another David Murray. Glad to have everyone else funds invested in the club other than his own!

I am not a fan of Ashley, far from it but that doesn't mean that I need to be a fan of King!

3.) 10 Jan 2017 13:57:04
Pay him how much off now, the full value of dodgy deals agreed by members of the old board who may have had conflict of interest that are subject of litigation.

4.) 10 Jan 2017 14:36:32
Anyone who reads my posts will know I'm a big fan of our board, but I would not give Ashley a pay off, that has took a small fortune from us, and will keep taking off us, our only hope is we beat him in court this case is up very soon, as for Dave King I don't know if he will pump major funds into the club, all I know is major funds will not be invested while Ashley still has a grip on Rangers, so bottom line is we must beat Ashley in court by proving the contracts he got from the old board were not at market value and the old board did not act in rangers best interests as the only person who benefited from them was themselves and Ashley, fingers crossed the judge will see this. but as I said major funds will not be invested while Ashley and co are still there taking money out the club.

5.) 10 Jan 2017 15:48:00
Good post Delboy and let's hope that the Court Case goes in our favour. As for King I remain sceptical that King will invest any significant amount in to the Club but equally I believe that there could be other serious players interested should King be unable or unwilling to make the Investment necessary to get the club back to the top.

Given the size of our support worldwide there are significant opportunities if we have the right people in charge both on and off the Park!

6.) 10 Jan 2017 16:58:57
Agreed tom, I'm also sceptical regarding King, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of doubt until Ashley is removed, then I, ll judge him on what investment he makes, but I'm still glad he's in power because I would hate to think were we would be if they never removed Ashley and co. but your right there is investors there but money won't be put into the club until Ashley and co are gone for good. god knows how long that will be though.

7.) 10 Jan 2017 17:14:54
Agree Dellboy, we need to get Ashley out first before judging King. King and the current Board have provided much needed stability and support during a very difficult period in our history.

09 Jan 2017 22:17:44
where's Toral then? any ideas? he was supposed to be flying in yesterday a bit later than Hyndman

wee bill

1.) 09 Jan 2017 23:04:01
john toral will fly into glasgow tomorrow to finalise a loan deal until the end of the season and there should be one more player coming in and it will not be saido berahino nor will it be frank lampard nor will it be robin van persie. probably be a goalkeeper if gilks leaves as expected.

2.) 10 Jan 2017 00:57:50
We must seriously strengthen next summer as getting 2nd and entering qualifying rounds of Europa will be on the cards and going by the teams that awaits in final round are of same calibre as last yrs we MUST do some decent business AND King has to back Warbs. I do think that if we get the same types of teams the sheep and Jambos got we will progress but hitting that final round with the squad we have imo will really struggle! Really wish this Sports Direct shambles could get sorted as I read its costing us between 4-6m a yr. Also hope there is truth in the Red Bull rumour as its going to be something like that, that would be of a huge boost there must be someone out there who can see that our lge is a two horse race to Champions Lge money and a return on investment is a gamble but over X yrs CAN happen, Buenos or not someone MUST realize that Rangers CAN make them money its only a matter of time! Invest 10-15m and CL qualification nets an instant 20m plus. King must realize that getting into Europa means more than just some cash via the tournament BUT will alert investors.

3.) 10 Jan 2017 02:06:06
I share your angst, Andy 1872, but the reality is if we want to move forward with any haste, to rebuild the team (and maybe hire a new manager) then deal with the off-field legal issues and contract issues, pay back the soft loans we already owe in lieu of shares as any new investor would want these, as well as revamping the stadium while reaching a performance level that would see us in the Champiions league within, say, four years, we really are looking at investment of £80-100million. That, sadly, is the reality of our situation and if we want to have a Rangers at all, we have to recognise this. I'm 65 and I hope it can be fixed by the time I'm 70, that's the time scale as far as I see it.

4.) 10 Jan 2017 09:01:30
Wee Ecky, a lot of what you say I agree with although I reckon that success could be secured without that level of investment providing we were astute in the transfer market and did not go overboard in redeveloping the Ground.

To do that we need an ambitious Chairman and Board of Directors and a clever CEO that can negotiate clever deals alongside the manager on pre-contract agreements for top stars that will help boost income in the short term.

Whether our current CEO has this ability I just don't know but I doubt very much that King has the ambition and that for me is where the problem lies. I am not even convinced hat he will put any serious money into the club and I do wonder at times whether he is primarily looking to recoup some of his previously lost £20m

5.) 10 Jan 2017 13:02:37
said it before we came into this league and i'm still saying it if we get a solid defence it will free up the gifted players to play with more freedom but the defence is no where near good enough and i'm talking about all of them including our best clint hill (too slow) .

we need big strong and quick defenders

6.) 10 Jan 2017 13:53:54
James, what big strong quick defenders will we be able to secure when we have no investment moneys for these guys. We would be financially outmuscled even for the better defenders never mind the best.

As for freeing up the gifted players that is a nice thought but there is a shortage of 'gifted players' at the club these days, especially in midfield where, by the mere fact that Halliday plays every week, suggests that we don't have a decent Holding midfield player or defensive midfield player on our books!

Ball, Oduwa and Zelalem don't belong to us and Oduwa didn't cut it. As for the other 3 hardie and Burt got minutes on a couple of occasions so only McKay has been a success. My concern is for the other young talented lads like Murdoch, Walsh, Crawford, the McCrories, Jordan Thompson etc etc etc

How long then must they wait? Now we will be playing harder teams so they will be even further down the pecking order as we "wont want to take chances "?
Yes he IS making moves as you have said, but how many are actually going to get games?

a number of players have been messed about and played in wrong positions by Warburton, and i see he is letting more youngsters leave permanently. The guy has no conscience, i don't like him, i don't rate him and his we'll learn from it attitude, he did well last season, but if you look at figures he didn't do much in the second half of last season except for the 2-2 against Celtic. I feel sorry for all the youngsters who try hard and think that one day they might get a chance? we've more chance of catching Celtic this season than all the youngsters have of getting a game
