If there isn’t interest we should be actively trying to punt them. We can’t have these two leaving for free at the end of the season. Give them an ultimatum, sign a new contract or leave this window.

If i'm not mistaken there has only ever been one offer to buy Morelos during his entire stay here and that came when he was at the top of his game. Due to his petulant nature and recent injury and lack of form nobody wants to take a risk on what could well be a poisoned chalice. Its now up to him to prove otherwise and earn that move.

I'm sorry but wouldn't be offering morelos a new contract. Love Alfie and he's been a terrific buy for and has repaid fee over and over but he's gone stale last 2 years and looks disinterested, unfit and a shadow of the player he was a couple of season ago.

Depending on how one views things, positive news could be an offer to buy Morelos (one which everyone is happy about) or Morelos signs an extension. i'm guessing its the latter, and that we begin to see the old Morelos again. Scoring goals and terrorising defences?

John we have been hearing this good news from the beginning of the season. Won’t hold my breath tbh, but unlike most I’m not fussed if the lads run their contracts down. We sign loads of players on Bosmans so what goes around comes around.

Just as long as they both give 100% until that point!

Sorry to state the obvious (again) but if our manager wants to keep either player we will make them an offer that reflects what they are worth to the club (considering form, potential etc) .

If we make an offer I'd guess that it will be based on what the coaching staff see on a day to day basis working with each player.

Equally if we don't make an offer at all it'll likely be because the staff don't see any value in the player.

If either player thinks that our offer is too low they will reject the offer.

No different from trying to sign Ronaldo or Messi - we can offer £50k per week but if he wants £500k no deal will be done (just an example) .

Not too difficult to understand?

Herewego55 are you for real so you wouldn't give. Acontract to a guy that was one of our best players before injury and still has a decent record when he's came back even though anyone can see he's clearly not fit. Even a s a third choice he would be a great option and the fact people debating Morelos or colak says he deserves to stay however it's a different matter if he thinks he deserves more money same terms maybe but not more. Could put a smaller sell on clause or something in case he does rediscover form.

I do understand we've had more than the value we paid for him however and I wouldn't be bothered if he did leave for nothing.

Morelos is currently the highest paid player at the club. £33k/ week just isn’t a wage he deserves anymore, and I doubt he’ll accept less. I. An’t see him staying.

Not as easy as that verdant. You can’t just say sign a contract or leave now if a) no one is trying to buy them or b) anyone who might want them would rather wait and get them on a free in the summer. Believe me, players agents are constantly trying to find their clients new clubs (even when their contracts are no where near expiring) but they’ll also be doing it in a way that gets the best deal for their client (and them) . So if they are wanting to go I’m sure they will already be actively trying to find new clubs. All that ‘giving them an ultimatum Will do is upset the player, make them not want to play for the club and probably just sit out the last few months offering nothing as a player and leave for free anyway. We still need Kent and Morelos (our only fit…or should I say not injured striker that we have) in order to have the best chance of winning the cups or even a very outside chance of the league (although realistically that’s gone) .

John, I’ve said many times I like your rumours and especially like the info regarding the youngsters coming through, but we were hearing in the summer that Kent was close to signing a new deal from yourself and others.

That’s not a criticism just life, things change.

Just saying I won’t be getting my hopes up. Maybe he will do a Goldson and sign a new deal or maybe he will leave for nothing. I honestly don’t mind either, although I think the money could be better spent.

Verdant you don't get it the kind of clubs that would be interested in Kent/ Morelos word not be top clubs chasing leagues so they would not be in any rush and content to wait I'm sure and they are hardly going to go to a team in relegation trouble unless it's the EPL which ain't happening.
