Damien Garcia is about to sign an extension in order to generate more money for Penarol. This is going to be announced by Monday. The release fee is USD$10 million. Think this one has escaped us, we won't pay that for an unproven player outside of Uruguay. This is partly down to the failure of Cifuentes.

Yep sad at this- but no way would I want us to spend that much. On unproven talent. I hope and would like to think we probably eyed up an alternative, because I really want the CDM in before CL qualifiers as I’ve always thought of CDM as a really important role within a any team. Another transfer rumour debunked and to the next. I liked the look of this player aswell but not to be!

So Rangers won’t be signing any players from South America because they all might end up like Cifuentes? What if they end up like Morelos and just banging in over 100 goals?

Very odd stuff.

“I hope and would like to think we probably eyed up an alternative, because I really want the CDM in before CL qualifiers. ” - The board will no doubt have alternatives. But are they so afraid of buying someone like Cifuentes that they will no longer shop in Columbia, the USA, pay fees for South Americans, etc?

That OPs comment above is really puzzling.

Crazy that we never found a replacement for Davis. Not had a CM who can just control the midfield since. Really important we get the right one in.

WAR never said we won't sign anyone from South America what he said is they won't spent ten million dollars on an unproven player from there, no?

Generic, I don't think anyone is suggesting we don't sign South Americans (we just signed Cortes) . Just that gambling on Garcia for a nominal development fee is much more like our new model that paying €10m euros is! Can't see us paying that for anyone in the foreseeable future.

Lets hope they don't end up like Morelos. Very odd statement to suggest he was a success. Got the boot from Brazil for the same attitude and fitness dramas again.

Morelos was quality for Rangers.

He was a serial looser just like Tav, Goldson and the rest of the failures. Far from quality fgs.

You think a big signing on fee would of put a stop to that, maybe more too it as I don’t see the guy doing himself out a move and considerable more cash just so his club can get more money.

I'm hearing different, this deal is expected soon still.

Think your conflating the bit he did on wanting to help penerol in the future he said he'd go back one day to pay them back.

I'm hearing deal still on all the noise is just paper talk.

If he was talking to us with intention of signing. Why would he then sign for his club again?
If he’s signing for his old club again then that would suggest he was never signing for us and or we didn’t follow it through.

Rangers won't be spending £10m on a player from anywhere mate. I could tell you that. It has nothing to do with Cifuentes either, we just cannot afford that as a club.

Did the OP clear this up? What aren’t Rangers going to do from now on because of Cifuentes? Sign payers from Columbia, the USA, pay fees, etc?

Did the Rangers board actually sit down and decide that no fees should happen in the South American markets anymore because of Cifuentes? What on Earth does that even mean? This sounds like nonsense. ??‍♂️

We’ve signed players from Scotland and they have failed so will we never do that again either?

Rangers won't be signing anyone for £10.m. Also, Cifuentes wasn’t a developmental fee.

So, moving forward what won't Rangers be doing because of Cifuentes? What did the OP mean?

Think our club should walk away if he signs. A small fee for raw talent with potential is great business potentially but over £7m for an untested player outside his hometown team and youth International is a massive risk.

Generic Rangers Fan, my comment was to clear up the intention of the original post. Not once did I personally say we would or would not spend 10 million on anyone. Maybe read the post properly before jumping on mate. Original poster said we won't pay that amount of money for an unproven player.

Doesn't make sense at all to sign a contract effectively pricing you out of a move that you are reportedly interested in. No guarantees anyone is going to spend that kind of money unless he kicks on again.
