Where do we develop these lads though? Zak Lovelace was playing in the English Championship, then came to us and spent a year playing against dross in the lowland league. The Rangers Review had Maurice Ross on yesterday and he really opened my eyes as to what a failure the B teams are. Great in theory, but terrible in reality. These young lads don it want to play part-time clubs, on uneven pitches, in front a few hundred people. It’s not going to help their development. How many players kicked on last season as a result of their involvement in the Loveland leagues? None.

There must be a clear route to the first-team. Right now, I don’t believe there is one.

Lovelace, Devine, King, and Lowry could all use season long loans. SPFL clubs, or English League one would be ideal. Let them get a full season of regular football under their belt and return to us next year.

Zak has potential to be a very good player for us but he wasn’t at the level last year. Need to mind though he had 5 appearances for Millwall they totalled 25mins on the pitch. He will get more game time this year in fist team.

Verdant Lovelace played seven minutes in five games for millwall, developed at rangers and made England under 17 squad in the summer

Impossyfor 17 toplay in our first team, u can just see the abuse they would get on here.

Problem is in Scotland there's practically nothing for development for 17-21s. It's a disgrace.

I don’t think the plan for the B team was to stay in the lowland league. I’m my opinion that was to get the foot in the door in the hopes the dinosaurs would change their minds and allow us to get promoted into the proper leagues.

Where does Lovelace play for the next few years, John? How will Rangers develop him into a first-steam player? There’s no reserve league, no B league, the club already said there’s no clear path to develop young players in this country.

Surely the best option for next season, when it comes to some of these youngsters, is to be loaned out. A full season of football for Lowry, Lovelace, King, or Devine could provide a ‘breakthrough season’ for one of them.

Verdant that is the problem, we r going to embark on season of high level friendly games against European elite.
However the majority of them lack the competitive edge.

Scottish clubs and sfa not interested filling gap 16-23.

The new loan rules r why many clubs r buying teams in lower league abroad, then they transfer players to them, with first refusal to buy back for buttons.

Lovelace was given games in the championship because they were trying to convince him to stay, he had already been up at us before he even played a game for Millwall.

The issue I have with the club is generally they chose the wrong clubs to send players out on loan to, hopefully with the charlatan Mulholland away that’ll improve. Weston sent to Thistle and Cove, Alegria sent to Thistle, Kennedy to Falkirk. Might’ve not been good enough but with those loan moves they were destined to fail.

British reserve league, unofficial if that's the only way, I think the club should approach Newcastle, Sunderland and Boro for starters and take it from there .

I think there should be Reserve league where there is a minimum of 3 players who are 23 or over so the younger guys are playing against a mix of seasoned pros and youth players where they will learn more than playing in Lowland league with older players who are nowhere near the level of the top flight fringe players and guys returning from injury etc.

Its a disgrace that there is vacuum in Scottish football for 18-21 year olds . Clubs shouldn`t have to beg to get in the league or scratch around for friendlies . There should be a properly organised league set up developed by the SFA and SPFL instead of half balked plans that the wee clubs can vote down. No wonder there are very few youngsters breaking through in Scotland, and not just at Rangers.
