I've a feeling Newcastle will approach Steven Gerrard about the job after they have sacked Steve Bruce. The story is gathering pace and with Stevie not ruling the job out as Rodgers has apparently done, I'd say it wouldn't be a surprise if it happened. Good thing is they would need to weigh us in with a great compensation package. I certainly don't want this to happen, however I'm sure a few others on here might have a different view?

I don't think they will approach Gerrard! It's all paper talk! They know as much as us, they will go for a world class top manager.

Seeker as a matter off interest what would u define as a great compensation package, my understanding is only gerrard would attract money. Rest simply leave with him
Also told we would get about 4 million for SG depending on how long he has left at time of approach.

Did Roger's not make similar statement when he was still at Celtic, wouldn't trust anything coming from that direction.
As for SG, he is probably not in the top 10 managers in the UK, far less Europe or wider afield.
I don't think we or he needs to lose sleep on the Newcastle gig.

This Newcastle story will go round and round until they decide to sack Bruce and SG will not be offered the job. Pomagne signing coming as a show of intent. Just hope whoever it is doesn't lose a hand in the event of failure.

If i am being totally honest. I don't think it would be a bad thing if he went. Just don't think he can take side any further and although were top of the league the performances and results haven't been great been very lucky everybody else has been poor also. if get beat thurs then europe has been total shambles. Being relatively new manager he still makes crazy decisions that costs us games.

Barrow just a different way to say it mate. I thot taking hagi and aribo off together at weekend was crazy. Our to most creative players and hooks them both. Some of his subbys are baffling. I just don't want us to end up in a position where we've left it too late to change it and still have a sucessful season. Just my gut feeling. Understand i am well in the minority tho.

Difficult to estimate compensation package tbh but hope this would be substantial. Obviously the boss is not a world class manager at the moment but I'm sure his achievements in stopping the 9.75 and the way he did it, along with our Europa League exploits have not gone unnoticed. The bottom line is he was a world class player, respected by most in football. We might not be firing on all cylinders at the moment but we are still top. When we do click we will run away with the title. Putting myself in his shoes I would be very interested in the job at Newcastle. Just my opinion.

Personally I think that Gerrard, (and for that matter, Rogers), would be crazy to take the Newcastle Job. There will be no players come in until January and there is no guarantee that every player they want will come. Right now Newcastle are heading for the Championship and there is a real possibility that they will be relegated. Not the ideal start for any new Manager!
