I know its been worn out, the posts about Tav and patterson . BUT how about moving Tav up to midfield 3 and used as cover for Patterson when he magically turns into a flying winger obviously who would drop out would be the question --or failing that drop the captain which may have consequences also but i do like patterson so a no brainer for me.

Not for me. Defending is Tavs weakness and i definitely don't think he would be better playing out of position and dropping an experienced midfielder just to fit him in is a crazy idea.

To be fair deecee you did ask for opinions on who would drop out from midfield. A few people have mentioned moving Tav to midfield but I don't think he would become a Fernando Ricksen so it's a no from me. Imo Patterson should be playing.

He would be a liability in midfield, he isn’t a midfielder, and I would imagine any other midfielders seeing Tav taking a place in front of them wouldn’t want to hang around too long.

Tav is a right back and should be playing right back only for me🤔If patterson gets the nod for the starting slot for right back under gio, then quite simply for me, tav would be the cover for nathan patterson👍.

We played Whittaker in midfield in front of Hutton at RB, both were full backs and they did pretty good, just saying. But I agree, it's play or dropped.

Did fernando no start aff as a defender was hoples until wee Dick moved him to midfield and became a star for us.

Whittaker was a 7 out of 10 most weeks and could play literally anywhere on the pitch, he scored some cracking goals.

Very very underrated player was Whittaker. Scored one of the best goals I've ever seen in Lisbon but his legacy was wasted along with Naismith's due to that interview. Horrendous error of judgement.
