My opinion is he's not coming Rangers. Nothing to do with Maurice Johnson. Completely different circumstances imo. Johnson signed for money. This is different. No social media back then either to parade when a guy is in a restaurant having a meal with his family.

There was hassle with him and Bitton I think because they're Israeli, may be wrong though, as we know Celtic fans champion Palestine, so may have been awkward for them, imo shouldn't matter where they're from, as Star says it's his ability I'd like.

Yeah, even the semi finals were decent, seemed to be going one way then comebacks and both finished 10-9, was a great watch, both players excellent in the final, great averages by both.

He's turning into a bit of a Billy big balls though. Don't dislike him yet, but he needs to grow up a lot. He has all the talent in the world. Hopefully, young Mitchell Lawrie will provide competition in the future.

I see that the big debate now is about a close season re-build. I get that. However, we can't replace everyone! Until the last 4 games of the season we were well in the title race so what went wrong? In my view, there were too many journeymen players from abroad looking for an easy payday with little or no passion to play for the club, especially when the chips were down.

I'd give Rohl the pre-season and the first half of next then see how it goes but we can't have another trophy-less season. I'm pleased at the Shankland signing, shame it didn't happen at the beginning of last season. I hope Curtis gets a run (I'm assuming he is still at the club unless I've missed something? ). Also, the SFA/SPFL bias towards Celtic can't be allowed to continue.

What went wrong was we had to play the top 6 teams with an extremely poor defensive shape. Causing us to lose 2-3 goals per game. Actually impossible to win anything like that.

Needs a lot of work. When we go to places like Tyncastle and the Parkhead, we should, first and foremost, be difficult to beat.

But atm we're just so easy to play against.

The improved organisation and work rate that Rohl had been able to install was gone by that point.

New season, new players, new mentality and new playing structure required.

Good post, Doiger. I too am pleased Shankland is signing. Need another 3 or 4 just like him, and we will be a force to be reckoned with this season. Lewis Ferguson is the big one I want. He is our captain for the next 10 year if we can secure him.

Correct, mate, and should really be captain now. If not for some poor decisions m, however, the directors involved at the time can't be heavily criticised because they worked hard for the club and gave their time and resources to enable us to get here today.

I'm certain the current management has asked the question of Ferguson, and I'm not convinced it's totally out of the question yet.

More than a poor defensive shape, Zikos, many goals were given away because our midfielders were not doing their job? Chukwuani accounted for a few goals conceded in the later games.

You're right, John. It's a serious issue and must be addressed.

Nobody wins titles losing goals every game. No matter how good Fernandez has looked when we control the game, the entire defence was unable to defend when attacked. That's critical.

A bit of context, though. We lost two more goals than Celtic and scored 3 more goals in the league. 26 of the goals we lost were in Europe, so not that they weren't important, but I feel they are a different chat.
We lost 13 goals in the league in 20/21 and 18 in other competitions. We actually lost more in Europe than domestically.

Yes, Angus, but that's in comparison with Celtic, who also underperformed, not exactly what we should be targeting. They will be expecting a big improvement and so should we. Losing 2 goals almost every game towards the end of the season was horrendous, whatever context u wish to put it in.

Angus, that's not context though, as I don't care how many other teams lost. I only care about what my team has lost, and no matter what way you decide to dress it up, it's unacceptable. You are not trying to say it's ok because Celtic lost a similar amount of goals, surely? And every goal does matter in every comp.

I agree, Kaiser, but if we score more than Celtic and lose less goals then we will be there or there about. Stats are only good when compared to something, and as everything we do is about Celtic, I used them. Just thought that the goals lost were skewed by the 26 goals in Europe, so worth mentioning it in context.



I said a while back that we were tight defensively when Rohl came in, but after the January transfer window we tried to be more progressive and started to lose more goals. Of the 43 we lost in the league, 27 of them were lost from 1st February. So he needs to find a way to make us better in attack without losing as many goals.

Lacking creative midfielders, and I'd like a higher calibre CB.
Would be as well counting Sterling, as Patterson is worse than him for injuries.
We also need to sign a different option up top, someone who's pace will worry a backline.
Lots of work to do.

No nonsense/body on the line defender, then yes, Katic is more than good enough.

Ability to play passes from the back and hold a high line to form part of the structured press, Katic is absolutely not suitable.

Stevie, he might be able to play in your mind, but we play on grass, remember. We say Souttar is too slow and he is a siege defender, so why would a slower aging Katic be the solution to our defensive issues. He wasn't at the time and he definitely isn't now.
