Silas Anderson club now came out saying 6 million for him, sporting also interested.
Hope we get this one over the line.

20 May 2026 22:56:14
Seeker, imo that would be money well spent.

20 May 2026 18:36:10
Right debate purposes for those who wish to play along

Maybe we should have left caxinha in charge all those years ago how many league titles do you think we would have won

Maybe left Beal in charge how many titles would he win

Maybe left Martin in charge for 5 years how many would he have won if we gave him 3-4 years

What about GVB? reckon he would have won it to be fair!

Clement how many years?

We keep saying we should leave a manager in charge time

What past manager should we have left alone and given him time
Starting with caxinha GO?

We can't say but he's not good enough because we didn't give them time and most on here wanted the above gone

I fought clement name thought he got a raw deal and backed him given the circumstances

Folk want Rohl to have time but didn't want to give time to a lot of the ones mentioned above - why's that?

Agree2 Disagree0

20 May 2026 19:05:02
Good post, Stig. Out of all them managers, I would have liked GVB to have been given time. The players he wanted but didn't get done very well. He would have built a title winning side imo.

20 May 2026 19:16:12
Gvb for me.

20 May 2026 19:29:45
Honestly, I think over a 3-year period GVB and Clement would have built really strong and sustainable squads that would be winning trophies on a regular basis.

Both were really keen to be involved in the restructuring of the club to mirror the Dutch / Belgian models, which I personally think would suit us.

Unfortunately Thelwell and co. wanted to replicate an English model, which again in my opinion just won't work as we simply don't have the financial weight to implement it.

20 May 2026 19:48:59
Excellent post, Ehl, hard to disagree with anything you say. I personally would have wanted Koppen to remain.

20 May 2026 20:06:27
Agree on keeping Koppen. Clement would have had us on top, I have no doubt. Gvb unsure, seemed an easy touch for the media, didn't like that about him. Amazing in Europe though.

20 May 2026 20:16:53
Personally, wouldn't have given any of those mentioned more time as we gradually got worse under each of their tenures.

That said, I do agree that both GVB and Clement were hung out to dry regarding player recruitment.

We downgraded the team under them, but expected better results.

I would say, if he had done more research and got the recruitment better, Le Guen could have been a massive success.

20 May 2026 20:35:14
So, as a response, how many titles have we won by not giving any of those managers any longer than 9-12 months? The square root of nothing. So, sacking everyone who doesn't win a league has been highly successful and will continue to be imo. So, what do we lose from giving a manager a couple of seasons to build a squad and team? We lose another 1 league, but we are going to do that anyway by starting all over again. Or at least history shows us that is the case and that successful teams on average give managers 3+ years.

I think with time and support Clement definitely would have built a squad and team capable of winning regularly. If Clement was in charge at start of this season with Koppen doing the recruitment and not restricted with little money to have the players and positions he identified I feel we would have won this season. But by sacking him we got Martin. 🤷

20 May 2026 21:05:01
If you couldn't see Caxinha was out his depth, you should give up football.
If you couldn't see Martin was destroying the club on and off the park, you should give up football.
If you couldn't see that Beale had pulled the wool over the eyes of the owners and set us back years with some of his signings, you should give up football.

None of those 3 deserved any longer in the job than they got. Some would say they all overstayed their welcome.
GVB & Clement were probably hard done by to a certain degree.

20 May 2026 22:05:02
Guys good replies, thank you. 😊

Clement and GVB were both hard done to and think both, under current custodians, would win or would have won it.

EHL, thanks for replying and info, as always.

Do we think Rohl can do it if we give him the right players and build a decent overall squad?

20 May 2026 22:37:20
Stig, I think he can if we buy the right types and give them support and time to develop and get used to the demands of the club. The good news is that we are targeting leaders, so they will be further down that development path, hopefully.

I also think a number of the players we bought last season will be better for what happened this season and, with the correct purchases to augment them, will improve further.

We might also almost be rid of the players who had poor mentality and caused the issues.

My one worry is the crowd turn if we lose or draw early games. Anyway, we have failed with sack and rebuild so is the definition of insanity not to keep doing the same things and expect different results. What have we got to lose?

20 May 2026 22:55:09
GVB would have won us more trophies. Clement had to go no going back after Queens Park.

20 May 2026 23:57:00
Personally, I think Beale would've been the best bet, given the time yous are suggesting.

I think, given another season, we'd have been a really good team.

21 May 2026 07:37:17
I agree about Koppen, Guy knew what he was doing, especially when it came to recruiting coaching staff.

21 May 2026 08:05:20
If it's obvious a manager is a mistake, u don't give them time just because u don't like sacking managers. Agree with most that only Clement and GVB possibly deserved more time. PC, however, was too stuck on one formation fits all and didn't adapt, so I still don't think he would have worked out in the end.

GVB is the main one for me that was let down. He suffered a horrendous injury crisis, with King and Sands becoming his defence among others. He also bore the effects of Gerrard's recruitment decision to keep the squad together, which meant he got very little backing for transfers and players leaving for little to me fee.

21 May 2026 10:08:33
Would have kept Clement/Koppen. If we had done that, and with the new owners, I do think Clement would have won us the league this year, and the squad would be in a much better position than it is now.

21 May 2026 12:21:44
We have no idea what guys could have done what.
Give them 3 or 5 years, they may have won or lost all of them.

Guys like Beale had to go. Martin had to go.
The others, like Clement, who knows with the tight backing.

You can only work with the information you have at hand.

23 May 2026 11:31:15
Clement, Gio and McCall all harshly treated for me and would have done better given time, even though a couple of them didn't help themselves near the end.

19 May 2026 11:33:08
Curtis in wc squad.

I'd offer Bologna a swap deal Raskin for Ferguson.

Obviously both players need to want that but what do we think?

Tried to post this earlier n just spent an hour searching for the post and reply's

Agree0 Disagree0

19 May 2026 07:20:08
Just sell Raskin, mate, maybe have changed after buying Ferguson, won't be a great deal in it, Stevie.

19 May 2026 09:13:36
Maybe have change.

19 May 2026 13:10:02
Either way, bro, we need to get Ferguson. He'd be captain and leader for 3 years, then sell down south.

19 May 2026 14:35:01
Or he could be our McGregor and be here another 10 years.

19 May 2026 15:03:48
Rather keep Raskin.

19 May 2026 15:43:14
Jim, I prefer Ferguson maybe, but it's a fair opinion to have. What I'd counter it with is that if we do keep Raskin, he'd be away in a year, and we won't have another chance to sign Ferguson again til he's in his 30s. It's now or never.

19 May 2026 16:50:58
I'm with Jim. 👍

19 May 2026 17:44:23
Raskin a year and a half younger and Belgian international. Bologna would have to sweeten that deal for me.

19 May 2026 22:43:29
I would always want the best player.
Ferguson would never get in the Belgian team and barely gets a game in a poor Scotland team.

Raskin, with better players around him and captain next season, might not be in a hurry to leave in a year.

Only an opinion.

20 May 2026 01:12:20
Raskin seems to me to be a bit of a jack the lad and maybe wee bit of a trouble maker.

Really like him btw, but he's always at centre of dramas.

Interesting that all players took Martins side ivwr Raskin when they fell out.

That's a story in itself.

I'd sell Raskin for £20m after wc, but if we value him at £15m as reported on here then it would be straight swap.

Would love to have both in mf with Dan Neil.

20 May 2026 08:31:42
I'm sure 12m was the figure I saw on here, may be wrong though, but we don't know as no one has seen his contract.

20 May 2026 09:32:28
Fork, that was his reported buy-out. John said we bought it out with a wage rise, mate.

20 May 2026 09:38:01
No worries, bud. 👍

20 May 2026 13:48:25
His value on Transfermarkt is 12m euros. Engels is 20m euros. It seems Raskin is not as valued as Engels, which will come down to age and set pieces, probably. As Engels takes free kicks, pens and corners, whereas Raskin does not. Plus, form and winning.

20 May 2026 19:51:22
Stevie, I did, but I have been writing the past and will be wrong in the future.

20 May 2026 23:58:14
John, as are we all in life, mate.

There is also a saying "even when I'm wrong I'm right" haha.

23 May 2026 11:32:37
That makes no sense, Raskin higher rated and no serious injury, and also first puck for Belgium, while Ferguson will be lucky to even get a start for Scotland.

From social media

Danny Röhl has been interviewed by BILD after returning home to Germany.

BILD: Until the end of the regular season you had a real chance of winning the title with Rangers. After four defeats in a row, the title was gone. What happened?

Röhl: "That's football. We prepared for the Championship round with an extra training camp in Marbella, recovered well, won a friendly 10-0. Then you come back and lose very unfortunately against Motherwell. And no team had won at Hearts. Overall it's extremely frustrating."

You know Southampton and were head coach at Sheffield Wednesday. In what way are football in Scotland and the atmosphere in Glasgow special?

Röhl: "Football means everything here. Everything around it is extremely passionate. You notice it in the matches too. All the teams are very close geographically, most away trips are no more than an hour. So almost every week feels like a derby. The fans react incredibly emotionally. The intensity is enormous."

What do you notice about the rivalry in everyday life and private life?

Röhl: "Well, there's not really any private life. When I walk through Glasgow now, everyone recognizes me. Half the city greets me and talks to me. The others look at me and turn away annoyed. Then you know they support the other side. And with this rivalry it doesn't matter where I am. My parents were here two weeks ago and we drove to the coast. Even there, a dentist came right out of treating a patient in his practice because he wanted a photo with me. The intensity here is enormous."

Is there really no privacy anymore?

Röhl: "Only inside your own four walls. In winter, our coaching staff went to the cinema once. Not even five minutes after we entered the theater, before the movie had even started, our cinema visit was already being discussed in the online newspapers."

What does your family say?

Röhl: "My wife and children stayed in Germany and visit me often. I have an apartment in the West End. Glasgow is really cool, I'm impressed. There are lots of restaurants, the city is very young. I'd compare Edinburgh and Glasgow to Dresden and Leipzig. One city is more elegant and extremely cultural, the other is hip and lively."

What does it take for Rangers to become a title dynasty again like in the late 90s and 2000s?

Röhl: "It requires rebuilding the squad, but also more consistency. In recent years there have been many coaches, each with their own philosophy, each shaping the team in their own way. Now I'm here and there's a clear direction. Together with the board, meaning the club's decision-makers and investors, we now want to find the players who can help us. The goal is not to create a one-hit wonder, but to win titles over 2, 3, 4 years. Maybe that's why we have to go through this valley of tears once more."

So does the big shopping spree begin this summer?

Röhl: "I do think we're initiating a major rebuild. But there are clear processes in place. I work very closely with the technical director, the CEO, and the performance director at the club. When players become interesting to me, the board evaluates whether a transfer is feasible, and ideally approves and executes it."

Will Bundesliga players also become targets?

Röhl: "We're fully aware that the team needs leaders. You can't meet expectations with only young players. This club is extremely unique and demanding. I experienced Bayern Munich and know the pressure that comes with competing for titles there. But here it's another level more brutal. Every day the media and the environment judge you. You can't celebrate wins too euphorically or let defeats drag you down too much. The team needs calmness and composure."

Some of the investors are linked to the financial arm of NFL club San Francisco 49ers. Do you therefore have to report to America more often?

Röhl: "No. The decision-makers are here very often, almost weekly. That makes working easier. It's almost a European model, and therefore completely different from somewhere like Sheffield."

Have the investors criticised you recently?

Röhl: "No. Only complete backing. They want me to bring the club back to winning titles. We'll tackle that in the summer with a proper pre-season and a thoroughly rebuilt squad."

Some clubs like VfL Wolfsburg are looking for a new coach this summer. You're reportedly on the shortlist. Are there concrete approaches?

Röhl: "There are probably a lot of rumours going around. Last summer it was the same. If you believed all the speculation, I'd already have had 15 coaching jobs by now. My focus is here in Glasgow. I like the job because I can compete for titles here. And internationally too. It's a very good role that I enjoy a lot."

To ask directly: do you have a release clause in your contract until 2028?

Röhl: "No, I don't."

18 May 2026 17:18:18
Swm, Cheers for putting that up, mate. 👍

18 May 2026 17:39:38
Good work Walter.

18 May 2026 17:58:37
Thanks, Walter. Good insight to see how the man thinks.

18 May 2026 18:31:11
Great read and I agree with almost everything he said.

18 May 2026 20:07:31
Some great answers to some of the questions.

18 May 2026 20:14:42
Thanks. Read some of it, but good to have it all on here. I'm starting to try and be more positive again, looking forward. There's going to be big changes ahead, and just hope they get it right this time and lessons have been learned.

19 May 2026 01:10:56
Great post, interesting read.

19 May 2026 12:20:35
Very interesting read | SWMc. 🇦🇺🇬🇧

20 May 2026 08:14:51
Good post SirWalter,
I felt Danny had done enough pre split to prove he had what it takes to lead us into the challenge next season, but I had a few doubts after the post split results.

This helps me renew my belief and helps to start getting my juices flowing again for next season before heading off to the USA for the World Cup.
Agree with everything he said in that interview.

18 May 2026 11:25:58
Now that obsessed mob saying maeda's overhead kick against us was goal of the season 😂 unreal so they are because as much as it was a very good goal Chermiti's overhead against them was the goal of the season and a better goal than maeda's 👌 Chermiti was high in the air and his was from a cross so his timing from that height up in mid air was exceptional and exploded into their net 👌 Maeda's was from a standing position and nowhere near as good as Chermiti's 🤔🇬🇧b

Agree4 Disagree0

18 May 2026 13:55:46
There is no debate. Both good, but Maedas was a big looping effort. Chermiti, as you say, from a cross more difficult to connect, and powered it in.

18 May 2026 14:46:19
Both good goals, but Chermiti had better technique.

18 May 2026 15:07:08
For me, Chermiti all day long. If the goals had been other way round, some of us would back Chermiti.

18 May 2026 16:07:02
Overhead kicks are about height technique and angle.

Chermiti was better in every aspect.

Nonsense to say otherwise, absolute nonsense.

18 May 2026 16:16:19
Chermiti's was clean out of the air. Maeda required a touch, no question. Chermiti's is better.

18 May 2026 17:29:19
Maeda's looked to me more like a hit and hope.

The type you'd see over the park playing cuppy doubles - no athleticism required.

18 May 2026 23:57:37
Maeda goal was absolutely world class, but Chermiti a is best I've seen in Scottish football.

McTominay a best I've ever seen.

That and Fi Canio bicycle kick for West Ham.

19 May 2026 00:09:18
Chermiti's goal wasn't goal of the season! It was goal of the decade, well, maybe second to Roofe. 🔥🔥🔥

19 May 2026 15:44:32
Zikos, Roofe's isn't that hard to do, mate, if ye get the fall of the ball and the keeper's off his line, it's achievable.

Chermiti was out of this world.

18 May 2026 08:41:18
Reading comments on all pages. Who here wants Rangers and Rohl to succeed next season. I for 1 do but going by some comments it's like some don't so they can say I told you so. Cavanagh has came into the club. Stabilised the club financially, made a few mistakes granted but that's life but some still give him grief on here.

Tell you 1 thing we would be in a far worse position if it wasn't for cavanagh and Rohl. Fans need stop all this nonsense. Rohl's here. Cavanagh backing the squad. How about all fans unite and back the squad and manager.

Agree5 Disagree0

18 May 2026 09:15:34
Davie, very happy Rohl is still our manager, and very happy it has been said as early by Cavenagh, let us focus on getting experienced players with leadership in, hopefully Dan Neil is one of the first.

18 May 2026 09:25:54
Davie, got to agree - AC has put his cards on the table and let everyone know that DR is staying.
Let's all get behind the manager/team for the new season. At least we can all focus on who comes and goes in order to improve the squad.

18 May 2026 12:30:06
Davie, I think it's just about opinions, mate. My head is telling me one thing and my heart another. Do I want Rohl to succeed and will I back him - Yes, of course I will, as he is the Rangers manager.
At this moment in time, do I see Rohl as the man to take us forward - No, I do not.

We have had a terrible end to the season and I think Rohl is tactically inept. His lineups and substitutions in games are baffling. We haven't won a big game under him, and I have major concerns we are backing the wrong man. Just my opinion, of course.

18 May 2026 16:17:42
Davie, even though I was angry after Tavgate and wanted Rohl out, I'd still prefer he go on and win now that club saying he's staying will have my support but needs to deliver a very competitive team next season.

18 May 2026 16:34:44
Always backed Rohl, and still do so long as he is 100% committed.

19 May 2026 00:16:12
Although I think JBA would be a better manager, I still think he needs time and the right players to be able to play the style of football he wants.

I think his hands were tied with no wingers at the club.

On the right it was Antman and Olsen - neither really featured. And of the left he had Gassama who blew hot and cold (mostly cold).

He also had to rely heavily on an 18yr old loan signing as we didn't have a proper number 10. Again, Aasgaard and Bajrami were not really trusted.

Then there is the leaky defence.

One RB with no pace, the other made of plastic. And 2 young CBs with very little experience. And a goalkeeper that won't come off their line.

I'm not sure any man would have been able to do much more with those guys. Hopefully we are able to move some players on and the losses aren't too bad. There is also a ton of money being saved in wages from Tav, Matondo and Olsen, so hopefully we'll see 3 or 4 quality Bosmans.

As bad as this has been I genuinely think we'll be better for it come the new season.
