Academy team lost final game 4-0 to Real Madrid.

We got a lesson first half, however second half we stuck to our football style and dug in against a very good team

Imo it has been a tough tournament played 5 drew 1 lost 4. It is worthy of noting our players average age was 18 months lower than all their opponents, an under 19 tournament where we had mainly 16, 17 years
On pitch

Stand outs for rangers imo Lovelace, Curtis rice and Nsio, we did not have our strongest squad due to four being with Scotland and I believe one away with England

Special mention the boy ishaka is something else, if in fact we have signed him during the trip this is a coup, reports suggest we beat Man City, Liverpool and PSV to get him

I also liked physical presence we saw from kpakpe Nsio Lovelace ishaka malandy all signed last 8 months.

Good info John, no shame losing to Real Madrid, I'd imagine in a few years we'll see some players from that Madrid team going on to play for their first team.

3.) 24 Feb 2023

Mark and hopefully a couple from our squad that were in Morocco.

4.) 24 Feb 2023

Sounds good John, IF we can hold onto any of them?
AND of course the obligatory injury, this time young Lovelace.

5.) 24 Feb 2023
24 Feb 2023 14:15:03
John do you think that's s route we will be looking at? more physical players with good technical ability.

6.) 24 Feb 2023
24 Feb 2023 14:55:32
John any update on the injury to Zak Lovelace?
Hopefully we see some of these players featuring in the first team or listed in match day squads.

7.) 24 Feb 2023
24 Feb 2023 15:00:56
I would love to think so bellshill. I think what is required is a mix and match.

8.) 24 Feb 2023
24 Feb 2023 15:14:33
We shouldn't be signing any players with a poor injury record like Roofe again, we need players who can play 40 plus games per season.

9.) 24 Feb 2023
24 Feb 2023 15:21:34
Bar since foot started players everywhere get injured.
I’m sure we will hold on to plenywho make grade.

Why do you never complain about any off the 14 plus signings we have brought in from other clubs.

10.) 24 Feb 2023
24 Feb 2023 15:22:06
Copland none. We will hopefully get update soon.

11.) 24 Feb 2023
24 Feb 2023 18:45:14
Mark roofe has played 36 games in each season he's been here. Games aren't the problem. Minutes on the pitch are.

12.) 24 Feb 2023
24 Feb 2023 19:11:46
Good information John. I’m not sure why we should be applauding failure. No doubt the other teams involved were also missing players. I fully recognise the need to nurture and develop the boys but I’ve seen various of our youth teams over the years receive plaudits for competing but coming up short. A club of our size and resources should be punching higher and harder at this level.

13.) 24 Feb 2023
24 Feb 2023 20:16:04
John, touchy mate!, I don't have a problem with who we sign, but I do wonder about these wonderkids, who inevitably head off elsewhere when they see no route to first team.
Size up son!

14.) 24 Feb 2023
24 Feb 2023 20:32:19
Tjrfc, 50% of our games then. And in those 36 games would say 75% if them were cameos.

15.) 24 Feb 2023
24 Feb 2023 20:47:17
Anybody know what’s going on with the women’s team. Watching the old firm game and the regression from last year is startling.

16.) 24 Feb 2023
24 Feb 2023 11:19:46
The Scotsman reporting via a source the T I has already put pen to paper, just waiting on an announcement from rangers, exciting prospect if true.

17.) 24 Feb 2023
24 Feb 2023 22:00:06
Players who can play 40 plus 90 minute games per season.

18.) 25 Feb 2023
25 Feb 2023 00:44:03
Don't think the lowland league is doing our youth any good I would be looking to set up a youth team abroad or travel for tournaments like they did before.

19.) 25 Feb 2023
25 Feb 2023 07:01:13
Bar 72 not touchy fed up with guys like u who constantly run down our clubs and players. U really do not get how a club is run

Go for Gerrard gio beale all talk how lowland league prepares kids for men’s football I think they know best.

20.) 25 Feb 2023
25 Feb 2023 08:40:05
John yes of course playing against men helps our boys and as you say these men mentioned knows what's it like for our boys and its a very good experience for them.

21.) 25 Feb 2023
25 Feb 2023 09:53:28
John, too far mate, I have never run down our players or team, is that the easy way out mate? You will be calling me a Celtic supporter next.
If OUR teams role is now to prepare young lads for professional football ELSEWHERE! Then so be it.
I just don't agree with it.

22.) 25 Feb 2023
25 Feb 2023 10:03:05
These players make us some cash bar I believe its great the way our club in run now, you will see a few players in our first team in a year or two.

23.) 25 Feb 2023
25 Feb 2023 10:41:51
Fair do's Beale.
Everyone has an opinion. Make us cash? In this day and age a million or so here and there doesht touch the sides.
But each to his own. no probs.

24.) 25 Feb 2023
25 Feb 2023 10:55:57
Made about 20m bar from players moving on and we will see a few in the first team, John mentioned 5 players yesterday that we bought in the last 8 months and everyone of them has a good chance of being a first team regular.

25.) 25 Feb 2023
25 Feb 2023 17:07:14
Bar u running down players from b team route. I know u r not one off the mob, can u direct ne to anyone I’ve said that too

Bar add up all the millions it helps.

26.) 25 Feb 2023
25 Feb 2023 18:21:58
John they know best? So how many youth players are regular starters for the managers you mentioned ?

Our youth development is horrendous anyone can see that. We get a boy with potential and then they never play and managers expect them to develope without playing first team regularly which just doesn't happen.

27.) 25 Feb 2023
25 Feb 2023 23:50:39
Playing alongside hammer throwers just creates hammer throwers. The tactics of playing against hammer throwers is same we've used for years and we keep falling behind countries with smaller populations and in many cases countries that football not the main sport.

And you think our system is working ?.

28.) 25 Feb 2023
25 Feb 2023 23:53:20
What about the money made gofor doesn't that matter with you? if they are good enough they'll play we'll see how many plays over the next couple of seasons for our first team we are bringing in a far higher standard of boys now.

29.) 26 Feb 2023
26 Feb 2023 10:54:36
Beale bringing in boys is not developing your own ? just like all those people saying wenger developed people for arsenal maybe one rest were all purchase like Walcott from Southampton for 12 million just cause you pay for a guy with a fee and sell them for more doesn't mean you are responsible for bringing them through. We are doing the same but a smaller scale of player.

Guys like bassey are not youth development they are simply player development there's a difference.

30.) 26 Feb 2023
26 Feb 2023 10:56:09
And Beale65 the standard will soon drop when they realise they will not get a fair chance.

31.) 26 Feb 2023
26 Feb 2023 10:57:24
And another thing do you think we will promote guys from the lowest tier of Scottish football to playing in our first team ?? nope no chance.

32.) 26 Feb 2023
26 Feb 2023 11:35:08
Nope but boys playing against men helps them more than playing against boys the same age gofor, you will see very soon even the boys bought in the first team our academy is doing very well and will only improve it's a 10 year plan can't see why you don't think this way but you will see soon enough.

33.) 26 Feb 2023
26 Feb 2023 17:47:17
So if that's the case Beale why is our youth team topping that league in first season .

Cause the quality is not there so they are not being tested as soon as they come up against a top quality youth team from abroad they will get hammered

Again people like yourself getting distracted by physical qualities rather than skill or tactical knowledge players the physical thing naturally developes when they play skill doesn't unless they are tested against better quality skillful players

Brains and skill over physical people need to realise it's not the 60s anymore ??.

34.) 26 Feb 2023
26 Feb 2023 22:36:44
You just do not get it gofor.

35.) 28 Feb 2023
28 Feb 2023 09:41:59
It is encouraging that our young players are competing in these tournaments and that we are seeing players that at this stage in their career look to have the potential to move on to the first team. It is also encouraging to see that we are identifying young talent elsewhere and bringing the players to Ibrox.
My frustration is that as soon as we have a young player that could be developed into being an Internationalist there is a high probability that they will be sold to the highest bidder.
I know that is the model that the current Board operates to, I guess I would just like to see greater ambition at the Club to be the dominant force in Scottish Football even if that meant new Shareholders.

36.) 01 Mar 2023
01 Mar 2023 17:06:44
Just looking at some of the posts above, I am reminded that once upon a time we used to sign the best young Scottish Football players available, arguably the best ever to grace Ibrox and Hampden, Jim Baxter.
I am not saying that there is a Baxter ourt there at the moment, but we have missed out over the recent past on some quality football players and we should be encouraged that in some ways we seem to be putting that right with the work being done by the Youth Team Coaches and the Youth team Set up.
Our problem right now is that we are not bringing in top quality players to the first team squad, players of the quality that historically we signed from across Europe as well as the UK.
Our current CEO and our current Board do not appear to have the foresight of David Holmes and Lawrence Marlborough, they don't even appear to come close!
