We all have our opinions and of course are entitled to our opinions on here, that this wonderful site provides for us ?But long after i got home from hampden yesterday it got me thinking about our captain and match winner again james tavernier ? Is it just my thinking here (surely not), that all football manager's and fellow pros that have worked beside tav speak so highly of him and rate him very highly ? Surely they all can't be wrong and the minority who continually slate and just don't rate tav, be right ? Scotty arfield the latest to sing our captain's praises and i've said as much myself many times on here, we will only find out how much we'll miss tav when he's no longer at rangers ?.

Tav gets more unnecessary abuse than any other player out there. Honestly, how many holes has he dug us out of, but for some, all they see is his defensive frailties.
The worst one I saw on here was when a poster (who I actually like) called him a pr*#k on the live chat, which was well out of order.

For every over hit, or under hit cross, missed tackle, or misplaced pass Tav is involved in, you can be rest assured, he more than makes up for it a hundred times over.

Tav, is a match winner, plain and simple, and considering he does it all from RB, is even more spectacular.

His offensive numbers are fantastic but better right backs have left in the past and we’ve been ok.

G4, we'll always be ok when any player leaves but it doesn't mean we won't miss them mate ? Tav is the whipping boy for a minority of our supporters and a lot of what his haters have said about the guy is way over the top and well out of order imo anyway ?.

I've been critical (within reason) in the past, but you really have to hand it to Tav, his numbers are absolutely astonishing and if Haaland had scored a goal like that yesterday everybody would be raving about it. I can see what the coaches are doing in that they want the wing backs to play narrow, resulting in acres of space on either wing. Unfortunately, if they play that system the wingers need to track back and help out. Sima did it for Borna yesterday and the likes of Wright will cover Tav pretty well. Young, inexperienced players like MacAusland will need to add this to his game in order to play a modern system. Unfortunately young Ross was caught ball watching at the Betis second goal on Thursday. All good in the end though and the lad will learn from it. The players have to be elite athletes nowadays and need to put in the hard yards every game to win trophies. Yesterday was a perfect example: we wanted it more than them and worked harder than they did. If we can reach these levels in every game we won't be far away at the end of the season. Sorry, wittering on a bit, but Tav, yes, one of the good guys and a much better player than given credit for ??.

Interesting comment G4,I would agree that nobody is irreplaceable but I would like to know who you are talking about . I could be wrong but I think all the great right backs we`ve had in the past have been very difficult to replace.

When you show how good you are, people/ fans will then hold you to that standard at all times.
No one can turn round and honestly say that Tavs defence/ crosses/ passing as been up to par the last so many months.

However, the boy is a Rangers legend for sure and does everything he can for the team.

60 out of 73 penalties is not too shabby either.

Tav is so frustrating to watch sometimes when he's defending, but no-one can criticise his numbers at the other end of the pitch, that's for sure!

There's been many games. He's been woeful, many times he's been the match winner.

numbers are unheard of in my time, and carries himself very well, if him and Connor had done better at Europa we would have won imo, but he's won us so many other games and will go down as a very good rangers captain, if, he wins the league again.

I wouldn't call what Tav gets abuse a bit of criticism now and then for his poor defending, maybe.

When you keep conceding goals down his side, you have to identify the problem just as Clement did when he brought in sterling in betis game.

Highlighted when Jack plays as he's the best we have at covering the wing backs.

Realistically we aren't going to get fullbacks who can do both parts of the game - so for me I'd much rather see us with players like Borna and Tav who excel going forward and are a little exposed when defending.

Lots of games he has been good lots he has been rotten and yes he has dug us out of a couple of holes but that’s because we don’t have wingers that come up with many assists and that’s what we need.

Seeker Jack hasn’t been that player for 2 seasons now.

With all that’s been said about Tav, I think it’s worth remembering the guy has risen with Rangers from the bottom to the top. He’s not only turned into a leader, both on and off the park in my opinion, but has added things to his game as time has passed. Yes, his defending may be questioned at times but what defender isn’t questioned? The difference with Tav is that he wins game every other week, he will be missed and for me he’s up there, particularly for leading us back to the top from the dark days ??.
