SWS - I really hope this is true. Would be good to see solid choices who understand the club in his setup. I also wouldn't mind seeing Chris Burke involved, he is highly spoke of in the coaching world and just left Killie U19s.

Although Rohl isn't my first, or second, or even third choice! I will support him as much as possible to get this right.

Coaching credentials? Davis has been Assistant Manager for Northern Ireland, Lee Wallace has been coaching pretty much all his life at various levels and Chris Burke had the Killie Under 19 team as pretty much the best in Scotland.

Chris Jack reporting Danny Rohl close to finalising a deal to become the new head coach.
When his name was first announced, did his name fill me with optimism, no it didn't, and I had a fear he would be a rinse and repeat of Martin.
However, when I've looked a bit closely at him, he's different to Martin. He doesn't get to be assistant at Bayern, Leipzig and the German national team if he doesn't have something about him.

He's actually a very good manager so many people have spoke highly off him unlike Martin. Could be a very top manager in years to come and I like the fact he's desperate to manage us.

I've fancied Rohl since he was linked back in the summer. As you say, he's had some big jobs before Sheffield Wednesday — if it is him and not just the media clutching at another straw! Part of me would still love it to be someone nobody's mentioned yet, just to scunner them all.

I think the board's taken their time with this appointment, but some of the criticism thrown their way has been a bit harsh. I'm just looking forward to it being done so we can get back to talking about what's happening on the park. We saw a glimpse on Saturday of what some of the new signings can do — hopefully once the right coach is in place, we'll really see them kick on!

If this is case then we need get behind him but i do feel he is on a hiding to nothing as fans will not give him the time he needs unless he starts winning from day 1.

I think many are missing the point here. Doesn't matter if it's Rohl, Gerrard, Muscat or Pep. We are not going to improve while Thelwell is directing things.

We've messed about so much over the last two weeks I just want somebody in the job so that we can start the recovery process. It may not be perfect and I still have doubts about a number of the players but there is no way that squad should be sitting 6th and drawing the games they have in this league.


We may not catch Hearts now or even the other mob but we should be picking up far more wins than we have up to now.

Done very well at Sheffield Wednesday SirStruth, only 36 year old, achieved a lot for being that age, Bannan said he's the best manager he's worked with others the same, think he could be a good appointment.

If things continue to go wrong we know that target for the fans needs to be KT and PS not the Head Coach. My main worry isn't who they bring in now but the Jan transfer window - these will be KT and son signings. enough said!

An assistant is nothing like the pressure he will be under at ibrox, the clowns above him and a joke of a manager before means he has to hit the ground running with wins in league and semi against Celtic which would help him big time, I don't believe he has the experience to manage this club at this time but hoping am wrong.

How many chances does chris Jack want at getting this right, there is no leaks from Rangers so everyone is still guessing. through enough preferred candidate names out there and eventually they will get it right. no excitement or concerns from me until Rangers website shows him holding the scarf above his head.

Cooper, one of Bayern's nicknames was "FC Hollywood" because there was always so much drama surrounding the club! They've been one of the biggest teams in the world for decades. There's been a bit of a slip in the Champions League lately, but domestically they're still a giant. I'm sure Rohl will cope just fine with Scotland!

Apologies Bear1986, previous comment last night re Rohl not aimed at you personally. More aimed at my disbelief the club would demean themselves by going back for him when he had already stepped away. But their incompetence is a thread that runs through everything at the moment.

I hope he has insisted on having final say on transfers, I would ask for that if it was my reputation and job on the line, why tie the managers arms behind his back. Not saying Rohl won't be any good, he may turn out to be but as things stand he won't get much help from higher up.

We can all throw as much support at Rohl (if its him because god knows this circus merry-go-round has spun for weeks), but even with all the support in the world behind him as long as Thelwell and Stewart are in charge and pulling all the strings anybody coming in is likely to get dragged down with them.

Not comparing us to Bayern Drew, big difference between an assistant and the big boys chair especially with fans baying for blood and press wanting you to fail, gets more credit from me for his Wednesday stint than the rest put together, done enough digging to see he can change to suit which is a plus, his interviews give me a bit of the fear so hopefully he gets a couple of Rangers men in with him to tell him don't hide behind XGs etc as the fans can see what's in front of them.

Good, get him in and let him get on with the job. As for those saying he's a 'Yes man' get a grip.

Whoever comes in needs our support, he's nothing like Martin either, he's an experienced coach and I for one think he's got a great chance of getting something out these players.

It's obvious there are issues with the squad so patience will be needed, maybe more than any manager has been given before.

As long as we can see a plan, the manager is transparent then we need to let him get on with it. If problems arise with Thelwell and Stewart then The top men will need to act.

I think there could have been some positivity around Rohl coming in - if they'd presented their reasons behind it well, and if they hadn't made such a mess of Gerrard / Muscat in the press. Feel a bit sorry for the guy coming in now as fans might be less inclined to take to him given the current state of play with Thelwell and Stewart. Hopefully we can park that and get behind the manager (if this one really does go through! )

You know what, he's not my first or even second choice, but EHL rates him and will have discussed his abilities with our goalie coach so that's a decent reference for the guy. I'd have preferred a man of stature, steel and gravitas but I wish him all the best. Onwards and hopefully upwards.

LoyalDavie, honestly, you've probably got no idea why he didn't come in previous. He may have had demands that were must haves for him, that the club couldn't proivide.

He's maybe been promised / negotiated more say in matters than he was getting first time round. Which means less power to Thelwell. No-one really knows what broke down, but with the overall feeling around Thelwell and Stewart, i don't blame him for ensuring his tenure is not as poisoned by them as Martin's was.

I for one, wasn't sold on him to begin with, although any manager would get my backing until proven otherwise, but the more i read, the less like Martin he is and the more likely he is to succeed at this club, should the fans / board allow him.

The press release explaining this turn of events will be important for him. We need Thelwell and Stewart to be questioned and tell the truth about what has happened this last two weeks and Rohl himself will have to truthfully tell the fans why he ruled himself out and why he has changed his mind.

If the think they can con the fans with another tame RTV interview they really don't know Rangers fans. We have had so much B. S over the last few years we can smell it a mile away.

How have Rangers made a mess of the press, we haven't said anything to the press. how can we control what the press decide to make up. the problem is our fans jump on the first bit of news they hear, good or bad, and then feel let down when the press have to do a u turn because they guessed wrongly.

Also, is it true Stewart and Thelwell have informed the players that a new coach has been appointed, but they refused to name him at the time?

Honesty, there is so much rubbish out there, and has been since Martin was sacked, you just don't know what to believe.

Got to give Rohl a chance. I feel the job is too early for him but folk saying he's just another Martin know nothing about football, Martin had a patient, boring style. Rohl is more about getting pressing and hunting the ball back in the opponents half. It's what we thought we were getting with Martin.

He wouldn't have been my first pick just because it carries on the head coach set up when I think we need a manager but we need somebody in as soon as possible so, as long as we can see progress and some of Martins ideas either being phased out or carried out properly than I am quite happy to back him.


I don't put him in the same bracket as Martin who I didn't want anywhere near our club because I knew he would be a disaster.
Lets hope Danny can make an immediate impact get some wins under our belts and start progressing in all three competitions.

As a fanbase is this really us, we wanted Gerrard but he didn't want us, we wanted Muscat but he didn't want us. now when we get a manager whoever it is won't be good enough and won't get our support unless he wins every game, how sad its become.

all this from supposedly the best support in the world. half the reason no one would want to come is the toxicity from the fans and it will continue no matter who is in because everyone now believes the issue with getting a manager is because of PS and KT which may be right or wrong but what chance will a manager have where if we aren't ahead after 15 mins the boos and banners will be out there.
