Danny Rohl apparently ruled himself out, I say apparently as I don't know what to believe from the media story's flying about, surely we can't be seen to be going back in for guys that have knocked us back, embarrassing.

Breaking news from The Herald saying that Rohl is on the brink of being appointed boss.

He wasn't my choice, but I'll back him 100% and hope that Asa is spot on with his assessment.

Both Asa and EHL have been on record, previously, nominating Danny Rohl as their preferred candidate for the vacancy.

Personally, if we are to go down the European coach path, I'm happy to bow to such knowledgeable people's imput.

I still would have liked Stephen Robinson of St Mirren, but I suppose the board would have been accused of "cheapskating" if making such an appointment.

Tbh I wasn't completely sold on Muscat, mostly due to the Postecoglu situation at the moment. I felt that it could all go wrong without the players that suit his style of play.
Not sure about Rohl either, although he was working with one hand tied behind his back at Wednesday and had had successful stints as assistant at Bayern and the German national team.
I was all in for Gerrard as he had walked the walk here and had the measure of Celtic before he left. At the end of the day, if it's Rohl we need to be all in and give him a chance. One thing - Stewart and Thelwell must go asap. Seems to me like they are trying to destroy the club.

Heard the same regarding Lampard when he was spoken to a couple of years ago that fans won't be back if he gets appointed but were more than happy to go for the typical European manager who the ones we've had all more or less have the same sort of philosophy nonsense.
Carrick like Lampard still has a lot offer in management like Lampard is showing now and would be a better option than the rest of the names mentioned.
I personally don't want him but would certainly back the idea more than the Danny Rohl for example which will be an absolute disaster and will get swallowed up in Glasgow.

Rick, Frank is doing a brilliant job at Coventry right now which, unfortunately will rule him out of a move to us right now. Because they are my wife's team I've been keeping a close eye on them and have been really impressed with how they play. Frank has always said he is a big Rangers fan and I'd love him to get the chance to manage us one day. All ifs and buts but imagine how different things could have been had he been installed instead of Clement.

From a very reliable source within the club I am being told it's between Ole and Rohl, what I just heard is that Röhl withdrew when he was offered the role before Muscat but he wanted a contractual guarantee that he could not be relieved of his duties on the basis of the teams performance (as it could take time) and or the clubs positioning in the league table standing until 31/ 12/ 2026. Although he was offered a 3 year contract Rangers refused to agree to
His request leading to him withdraw. I have been told that tonight after the whole Muscat scenario contacted and agreed to Röhls conditions. Apparently the Gerrard situation was similar to this as he said he wasn't happy with the current squad and didn't want to be judged on this seasons performance, again was told no. (could fit with "timing wasn't right for Gerrard" statement as he wanted a full pre season with the squad or at least a period where his position wasn't dependant on the teams performance.

Ole has came up and I think he is a decent manager, he held United together, done well albeit with a good squad at molde and Stewart personally knows and rates him. From what I was told there now the attempted appointments and therefore subsequent failings are due to thelwell and not Stewart. The board expected and were promised a swift resolution from thelwell after martins sacking as he said he he had 3 high profile candidates for the role that fit perfectly and are eager to join. 2 weeks on they have not got that. the board are very unhappy that we are now going for the 4th or 5th choice who originally were not rated high enough to be presented to them by thelwell.

Stewart is a glorified lawyer for the club as has no real footballing knowledge but after the Gerrard rejection he suggested Ole to the board as a temporary solution on a rolling contract. The board said no but after this fiasco decided to reconnect to Röhl but have also asked Stewart to approach ole again as they have lost faith in Thelwells competency.

Gerrard was clearly interested or he would not have left his family or the lifestyle he has in Bahrain to come to London for the talks if the timing wasn't right, obviously someone (Thelwell) said something on day 2 that changed Gerrards mind and he withdrew and flew home, then Rohl rejected us, now Muscat, so their is one problem to us securing a suitable manager and that is Kevin Thelwell, if the owners don't act now we will be in this position again in the next 6 to 12 months.
Of course another obvious issue is our make shift defence that needs sorted out, why Neither Fernandez or Nsiala are being given a chance when our CBs make mistake after mistake game after game and still keep their places.

Listen the owners don't want to fail in anything they do some on here suggesting they're clueless and daft I feel they need to be shown respect, they have invested in us and let them do their jobs. It's in everyone's interest that they learn from the RM mistake and I'm sure they will. Having read all the "news" sites it seems there are 500 different reasons sited for Muscat deal hitting a dead end. The daily rebel has 2 different reasons as first it was "rangers weren't prepared to wait and second was he isn't sure if he fits the current recruitment model but he is assessing his options. So everything from time constraints to not fitting in with the boys club that thelwell is running.

We as fans know that Thelwell needs to go there's something dodgy there.
Fans of other clubs can see he's the problem. Every manager under the sun knows he's a problem.

Why can't Cavenagh, Marathe and Steinsson see that Thelwell is the problem?
