Similar was said about Ferguson from Aberdeen earlier in the year. If the manager thinks that Dykes will do the job for him that he wants, he's good enough for me.

After Dykes' comments after Michael Beale moved to us, I honestly can't see the gaffer wanting to sign him.

Wouldn't be my first choice as a new signing however after thinking about it for a bit, maybe. the amount of crosses we get into the box from open play, corners and free kicks would prob suit Dykes in the SPL, that seems to be his strength. Around 2 million I would say worth the risk. An extra head when defending our own box which wouldn't go a miss tbh. It a possible from me.

To be fair against Aberdeen we put a lot of balls in the box but no one really challenging for the ball, even the winning goal we were lucky the clearance hit Goldson someone like Dykes would battle the defenders to get a head on it.

I would be prepared to accept Beale's judgment if he thinks Dykes can do a job for us. There's too many on here who, no matter the player linked with us will say they're not Rangers class - Messi could turn up in a Rangers kit and some would still find a fault. Ferguson was another one who we could have got from Aberdeen - he's far better than anyone in our midfield but that boats sailed with him now being linked with Juventus. Juventus are looking at him but again, he's not Rangers class!

Sakala is not a central striker but put him wide he'll score goals as he's shown but we need another centre forward it's just a pity Roofe is never fit although I believe it's more psychological with him.

Dykes a great option in my opinion. Strong and fearless and throws himself at everything and works his stones off. A great player for the SPL as no real threat when we put balls into the box. He will give opposing defenders something to worry about and he is also good at defending corners and overall improves strength and physicality in the team both areas which need addressed.

Yilmaz along with Matondo, Davies and Souttar look to have been a complete waste of funds and wages.

Yilmaz even before the injury couldn’t get near starting apart from QoS. Looked absolutely rank rotten against Kilmarnock when he started. If there’s an opportunity to offload back to Turkey we should cut our losses with him.

Matondo looks like he’ll trip over the ball every time he’s on it.

Davies has been ridiculous so far one game in, 3 out.

Recruitment needs to improve drastically from the last couple of transfer windows.

Every transfer is a risk and there is only so much that you can do to mitigate the risk. This is especially true when shopping at the lower end of the Market.
Signing injury prone players will always be a risk and Wilson admitted that signing Souttar was acknowledged as a risk but given the overall cost it was considered one worth taking by the Board. Matondo was seen similar given the previous valuation of the player and the real question here is whether he can regain his confidence and if he does then can he be a player for us. Davies does surprise me given what we spent on him but I am told by Besiktas fans that Yilmaz is a quality player that will be a success at Rangers, albeit that this might be more from a financial perspective.
If there is a problem then for me it is a lack of a quality Scouting System outwit the UK and certain Countries where Wilson has Agent contacts. The other issue that will continue until we have new Investment will be the lack of transfer funds that allows us to shop at a higher level, (and that includes a better quality Bosman) .
