What do you make of this "Blue Card" 10 minute sin bin trial, apparently to stop cynical fouls and dissent.

I’ll probably stop watching football at this point n I’m not even joking lads.

This is no longer football we’re watching.

Exactly how is it fair?

A cynical foul, we all know that taking a yellow for the team type booking? Will now become a blue?

So effectively a red card with 10 mins to go.

The suspension of a red is irrllevant as u replace the player. The blue is effectively a red at this stage.

And if they dish them out for arguing with the ref as has been stated then we’ll see 4 minimum a game.

I used to have one of them for Global Video.

Agree Stevie think this is bonkers, they'd be as well doing away with tackles, no just dae what my auld neighbour did, stick a knife in the baw.

So if you get booked for a cynical foul you will be able to come back on after having a rest and be refreshed and be more of a threat. Well thought out from uefa.

In the SPL we would have a disadvantage as most of the teams out with the old firm will have more scope for the cynical fouls without being sent off when we are in attacking positions however the reverse may be true in the CL or EL when were up against it. So my conclusion the cynical foul will benefit better teams in what ever competition or league and the descent will benefit nobody but give the refs and easier day.

They’re over complicating a simple game.

7.) 08 Feb 2024
08 Feb 2024 18:09:19
Should be used for player descent, surrounding the ref only. let's get respect like rugby.

IFAB seem determined to ruin football, they listen to madcap ideas from the likes of Wenger but not to the fans who watch the game. To give the refs, especially up here, the capacity to ruin the game even more is frightening. They never think anything through.

What if the goalie is sin binned?

10.) 08 Feb 2024
08 Feb 2024 19:28:45
Stevie pretty simple don’t want a blue card in last 10 then don’t make a cynical foul ?‍♂️.

11.) 08 Feb 2024
08 Feb 2024 19:29:42
Wsl that’s not true about Wenger as he is trying to get offside and I agree with the offside taht it has to be clear daylight between striker and defender.

12.) 08 Feb 2024

Outfield player goes in goals for 10 mins.

13.) 08 Feb 2024
08 Feb 2024 19:44:13
It'll be like when a goalie gets treatment they don't have to leave the field, just get the goalies to dish out the dissent. What a load of nonsense, they are going to destroy the game.

Seeker ???
the game would become an absolute farce mate
This idea will never stick, expect it trialled in lesser cup games somewhere and then lost to history.
Unbelievable man.

Ed what’s your thoughts or info on this crazy idea?

{Ed001's Note - hy is it crazy? Right now we have game after game ruined by cynical fouls as players break - Man City use the cynical foul as the basis of their defensive system to allow them to throw bodies forward. At least this might put a stop to that kind of blatant cheating and allow attacking football to once more prosper. It is like VAR, the issue is not with the idea. The issue is with the morons that will be in charge of implementing it.

Until someone in football admits that match officials are inept idiots and incapable of doing their jobs, then doing something about improving their quality, it doesn't matter what they do to tweak the rules. Right now it is just pointless.}

Agree with Davie use it only for player dissent leave the rest of rules as is. I remember man u players absolutely berating a ref hounding him right in his face shoving, chasing him all over the place, absolutely disgraceful behaviour I felt like if I was in that position I'd just have yellow carded then all. We need to get away from players telling ref's to F off, the sin bin would sort that out it's the only thing that will. Captains should be the only ones allowed to approach ref and I'd sin bin anyone drawing an imaginary square telling them to check var.

08 Feb 2024 20:49:22
This would be a disaster in Scotland with the current inept shower of referees and I fear that only one club would benefit and it wouldn't be Rangers albeit that it would be a Glasgow Club!

17.) 08 Feb 2024
08 Feb 2024 20:51:11
I'd like it for time wasting and back chat to the referees. Livingston were basically wasting time after the 1st 5 minutes last week.

18.) 08 Feb 2024
08 Feb 2024 21:23:08
Davy's point about respect is spot on, rugby refs take no s#@t, think the TMO is far superior to VAR also. It's quicker and viewable to the crowd also on incident review, VAR is all smoke and mirrors. Agree with the dissent aspect also.

19.) 08 Feb 2024
08 Feb 2024 22:01:38
Silva it would be a great idea for time wasting. That stuff kills me. But not sure i agree with the concept at all.

20.) 08 Feb 2024
08 Feb 2024 22:30:18
My opinion is, but remember it’s only an opinion a blue card is better than a green one.

21.) 09 Feb 2024
09 Feb 2024 03:26:35
Get rid of offside, get rid of var, simplify penalty rules and shove yer blue cards up yer hoop.

09 Feb 2024 03:37:48
Ed it’s funny u say that I seen a twitter post earlier saying who will be first for a blue card n was rodri with his hand up lol

Bt seriously, it will destroy football.
A farce like the pens from halfway line in America back in the day.

Imagine Alfredo, or brown, or stevie G Roy Keane keown n adams
Not a chance it can work no way we will be playing 7s on 11s pitches players will chick it man.
Leagues lost on a sim bin
Not for me.

{Ed001's Note - it won't work like that. Players will just stop doing it.}
