Atletico Madrid want to sign 20-year-old Rangers full-back Nathan Patterson, according to online Spanish news outlet Fichajes.
It is claimed that the 2020/ 21 La Liga champions will try to sign a full-back in January, and Patterson has emerged as a potential option.

1.) 17 Nov 2021 11:59:46
It’s been my beliefs a deal in principle to sell Nathan was agreed some time ago, I could of course be way out, I just always found it difficult to believe he wasn’t playing more because of his age, ability, or Tav, I hope it’s not the case but I just feel something like this is in place, Patterson is far too good to be dropped for weeks at a time, it’s only my opinion, but there’s boys all over the world playing in major clubs at his age.

2.) 17 Nov 2021 12:00:08
It was in one of the papers this week over head name a few foreign teams.

3.) 17 Nov 2021 12:30:04
If they are in for him (If), then the boy should be off in a shot. What an opportunity! He is far too good to be warming our bench, and as long as he's not going from sitting on one bench, to sitting on another, he should be packing his bags and saying adios. Althletico, and anyone else, would need to pay what Rangers believe he's worth before this can happen, though.

4.) 17 Nov 2021 12:31:10
Agreed patterson too good to be sitting on the bench and i am highly critical of Tav. BUT patterson does not have the numbers in his game to match tav. Tav will assist more than double anybody else in the league this season.

5.) 17 Nov 2021 12:31:44
The Money for patterson would be great, but I'd like him to stay with us.

6.) 17 Nov 2021 13:22:35
BMGH01, I agree with John25, something not right he can't get game time, and I would not be surprised if a deal is not already done. Unfortunately for Rangers his stock has risen since then with his displays for Scotland so we could lose out on really big money.

7.) 17 Nov 2021 13:29:13
Do you mean he's not getting played BAR72 incase he gets injured and jeopardises any deal that's already in place?

8.) 17 Nov 2021 13:31:17
Scotland player and wanted by Athletico Madrid but not good enough to start for Rangers according to Gerrard. If I was the new manager he is the one I would be desperate to hold on to. Could be worth a fortune in a year or two (if given game time) goodbye Gerrard you got this wrong.

9.) 17 Nov 2021 13:33:20
My names Tomthumb12, but I know what you mean

I’ve said for months I believe that a deal has already been reached, or, a promise in principle, or something simi, I think Rangers expected a few sales before now and will cash in on Paterson, it’s only my long held opinion, I found it incredible such a good player couldn’t get a game.

10.) 17 Nov 2021 14:04:54
There's players I'd sell before patterson, kamara simpson and wright to name three.

11.) 17 Nov 2021 14:39:35
What a load of nonsense as he's every chance of getting injured for Scotland as he does playing for Rangers🤦.

12.) 17 Nov 2021 14:42:19
There is no way any new manager on this Earth will rock up to Ibrox and ditch the current captain for the young pretender no matter how good Patterson is.
He will not want to rock the dressing room boat as he needs everyone on his side.
Now that may change if Tav doesn't perform the defensive side of his game as good as he is offensively at times.

13.) 17 Nov 2021 15:21:15
BMGH01, as I said, wouldn't be surprised.

14.) 17 Nov 2021 16:39:49
Patterson is in my view potentially the best fb in years but Tav is our captain and his assists are more ATM than Patterson could offer. I don't want to lose Patterson unless a new coach can get others to provide type of assists as Tav we'd need to sell 1 unfortunately Patterson has more value so likely be him.

15.) 17 Nov 2021 17:25:17
Still don’t get why Tav and Patterson can’t play in same team in some games. Good teams can change formations in certain games.
If we were playing Lyon away for instance I’d rather have back 3 with Balagun Goldson and Tav with Barisic and Patterson either side as wing backs.
Then Jack preferably or Lundstream in CDM and Kamara and Davis CM with 2 up top maybe Sakala and Roofe
I know that leaves out Kent and Morelos, Hagi and Aribo to name a few but t then gives us the option if it’s not working to become more attacking and change system
Same as starting with 4-3-3 and reverting to that shape in games where we have a good scoreline we want to see out.

16.) 17 Nov 2021 17:38:22
Paul 86, doesn't have the numbers because he hardly gets any game time, maybe that is a factor.

17.) 17 Nov 2021 18:41:01
Gio likes playing 3-5-1 away from home against tough sides, GlasgowRanger with his preference being 4-3-3.
So you never know though myself personally don't like playing players out of position just to accommodate others.

18.) 17 Nov 2021 19:59:00
It might all be academic as I can't see him staying if a big offer comes in. I keep hearing that Everton will be back for him in January as they want him as a replacement for Coleman.

Of course Van Bronkhurst might have a different view on his defence.

19.) 18 Nov 2021 13:18:38
Paul 86 - what if you compare Patterson's international stats against Tav's? reckon theirs only one answer there.

19 Oct 2021 17:06:53
quote from Ibrox news. Rangers appear to be closing in on the pre-contract signing of Blackburn Rovers midfielder Joe Rothwell.
TEAMtalk. have reported that the Bears are confident of securing the agreement in January, leading to the free signing next summer.

1.) 19 Oct 2021 19:49:45
Watch a video of him on YouTube 😂 so a know it’s his best bits but in a lot of the clips he likes to run with the ball at his feet and go by a few player and even try it in the box aswell might not make the starting 11 but would be a good option if game plan was not working.

2.) 19 Oct 2021 20:03:38
Dross if you ask me! We do not need this player, he’s not better than anything we have currently. If this is true then I’m really concerned!

#56.

3.) 19 Oct 2021 20:17:55
We want players to take us to the next level not to take wages just for the sake of it. Players coming in at 26 years old must be good enough to start or don't bother signing them.

4.) 20 Oct 2021 00:15:04
Livibear how much do you think these type of players cost and how are we going to afford them I want these types of players to but realistically we can’t afford them at the moment.

5.) 20 Oct 2021 10:20:01
RFC at least you understand the market.

6.) 20 Oct 2021 11:29:51
How much did the Sheriff team cost? Peanuts I would imagine, so to compete in the Champions League is not impossible for a club like Rangers. We have the carrot of being in a position to offer excellent wages to attract certain players. Livibear is right, the goal should not be to accept our level is Europa/ Conference League, we must have the vision, belief, aspiration, and above all top class scouting system to unearth a few gems that can take us to where we need to be. What about Ajax too! We seem to be signing mediocre players that are not Champions League quality using the excuse we don't have any money. Some of the signing are not even good enough to play in the Scottish Premiership! And where is all the young talent coming through, hardly any, all I see is Patterson and the talk is selling him!

7.) 20 Oct 2021 12:10:40
2blue who from rangers is talking off selling Paterson,

8.) 20 Oct 2021 13:42:43
To be fair John i have not heard talk of selling Patterson coming directly from Rangers FC but think its generally accepted if a decent offer comes in he could be away as the club is cash starved at the moment. Personally I rate Patterson very highly and he is just going to get better and better so hope we can hold on to him his value will just increase as he matures. Apart from him how many currently playing in the first team came through the youth system? Do you not agree we should be setting our sights on building a team capable of playing (not winning) in the champions league. i'm sure that is the plan, but without cash to buy top players we must unearth gems from somewhere on this planet and put together a team that can play at that level. How many players do we have that currently belong at that level? don't get me wrong I know this is no easy task but just feel like Livibear we are signing too many mediocre players.

9.) 20 Oct 2021 21:20:13
2Blue Ajax is a terrible example they’ve spent in the region of £130m over the past 3 summers.

10.) 21 Oct 2021 17:43:02
I understand from friends in the North West that have excellent contacts at the Liverpool Clubs that Everton will come back in for Patterson in January with a major offer. They are keen to have him as their replacement for Seamus Coleman and would offer young Patterson a lucrative long term contract.
If this materialises then despite not wanting to sell him Rangers might have no other option unless the boy is given the right back role. He is a quality young player. Other clubs are now looking at him. He is seen as a player that has both the attributes to attack and defend and while he is still not the finished article he shows all the signs of being a top quality International Full Back. I believe that Gerrard will have to decide whether he plays him or loses him.

09 Sep 2020 20:51:11
Spoke with Jermain Defoe regarding his fitness and he said he is now fit and ready for more goals. another good addition to the front line.

orygbmb

1.) 09 Sep 2020 21:13:01
Is he your mate.

2.) 09 Sep 2020 21:36:23
Gerrard must be telling lies today then when he said he wasnt fit enough to play then? Same as itten.

3.) 09 Sep 2020 21:38:34
Do you think football players don’t talk to mere mortals then mate.

4.) 09 Sep 2020 22:10:11
Defoe is fit, he’s no longer injured. Big difference in being fit and being match fit, he’s behind the others and playing catch up. He won’t be rushed back as we have more choices this year up top.

5.) 09 Sep 2020 22:31:56
No DSGERSFAN he isn't my mate, it's the first time that I'd met him. Does that mean he didn't speak to me?

6.) 09 Sep 2020 22:56:39
Gerrard said he is on the verge of full training. not yet it full training with the squad so is not yet fit imo.

7.) 10 Sep 2020 07:10:14
Hope so could've done with him last 30 minutes against Hamilton to kill the game off, the chances we missed really worried me.

8.) 10 Sep 2020 08:12:38
Defoe is not our saviour he doesn’t have the legs anymore, anyone who has played the game knows what that is like. Footballing brain still works but if the legs can’t do what the brain wants, it’s pretty much game over. It has been there for all to see in his last games. Not ruling him out all together, class player will still grab a chance or two.

9.) 10 Sep 2020 08:17:28
Bit boring when folk contribute to this and smart guys immediately try to put them down. Absolutey no need.!

10.) 10 Sep 2020 08:52:57
Orygbomb a wasnt having a dig mate was just asking.

11.) 10 Sep 2020 12:50:27
Another typical comment from the muppet saying he's past it then saying he's no ruling him out 🤣 need some of what your taking mate.

12.) 10 Sep 2020 12:51:50
The muppet so is he past it or not? Or are you no ruling him out? 🤔.

13.) 10 Sep 2020 16:47:52
For those that don’t understand, Defoe is well past his best, it’s not that hard to see, but he was top class, and is not yet ready to hang up his boots, there is life in the old dog yet, hence will still bag a few goals for us. Class is class and Defoe was amongst the best, he still has the footballing brain, just the legs are struggling to do what his brain asks. Not that hard to understand unless of course you have never played the game.

14.) 11 Sep 2020 09:59:28
He has adapted his game though as he rarely runs the channels or in behind now. He basically uses his great movement inside the box and his sharpness physically (when match fit) and mentally to take his chances. He’s past his best but still a very good striker who’s teetotal attitude and vegan diet keep him in Good shape for his age.

15.) 11 Sep 2020 20:34:33
Hi guys I just want to say all these players that we (rangers) are still getting linked with, then I wish SG would go and get the Dutch and Danish speedsters and the Spanish boy who took us apart along with a top quality striker or 2 top quality strikers as Defoe is getting on in age, as I keep saying the likes of nsame from young boys who knows where the goals are even if we have to pay £15m or more to get him in as he would tear the other teams apart especially the rubbish from the other end of Glasgow. Another striker to get in would be either dyzuba or sabitzer who I really like as they also know how to score goals too. There's not long till the window closes.

16.) 11 Sep 2020 21:36:38
Even if we have to pay £15 million or more,? . Are you at the windup, m8?
I’m trying to get my head round this m really, you know what kind of wage that incurs just for starters, for one player? ? You think Rangers play in England.

BluebellAndy its a mnemonic phrase that helped me while going through Fire Service training exams 32 years ago. very boring but it helped me with sprinkler system actuation temperatures, bulbs had colours indicating which system actuated first.

M - Mauve. - McCoists

I wish some of our fans could appreciate what Gerrard has done for this club. Jeez, he has done wonders considering our position when he took the realm at Ibrox, ok his leaving wasn't great timing but come on people what he got us was phenomenal 55.things would be absolutely dire if Celtic had won 10 just think about that and let's give him credit. Now it's time for Gvb so let's get behind him now please and let's remember the good times Gerrard gave us.

orygbmb

1.) 18 Nov 2021 21:26:43
I wish fans would realise everyone is entitled to their own opinion whether you agree with it or not 1/ 9
Is a horrendous record respect he won the one we all wanted but it’s time to move on.

2.) 18 Nov 2021 21:26:50
He is appreciated mate. His time is over though. New era / chapter has begun. Time to move on. i'm pretty sure Gerrard isn't still talking about Rangers and us fans. I have closed the book. Its Gio's time to shine.

3.) 18 Nov 2021 21:46:00
Gerrard sneaked out the back door without any respect for the fans. Fans are falling for his party lines and he's now feeding the AV fans the same party lines. 1 out of 9 is brutal. His tactics, tinkering and his inability to drop his favourites were more than questionable. Yip we are delighted to get 55 but for some unknown reason he's regarded as a poster boy by some on here. GIO is an upgrade and I can't wait to see us progress.

4.) 18 Nov 2021 21:59:21
nice post JkingGers.

5.) 18 Nov 2021 22:01:57
I agree with st.

6.) 18 Nov 2021 22:11:02
Storm 1 in 9 doesn't sound great but I'm deliriously happy with the 1 we got. AND deliriously happy Gerrard delivered as I never imagined we could win anything never mind 55 due to the state we were in.
Jking he certainly is NOT appreciated by many on here who have very short memories, we are now respected in Scotland/ Europe and its a wonderful feeling being back.

7.) 18 Nov 2021 22:23:24
We all appreciate what SG did but not the way he left.
SG is in the past let's look forward to GVB tenure.

8.) 18 Nov 2021 21:45:41
Most fans appreciate everything he done for us, he only has himself to blame if some turn against him, it’s all about G. V. B now.

9.) 18 Nov 2021 22:55:34
Gios here now, thanks SG, but now we look forward. Thanks for the foundations. Build, build and build. The future's bright. WATP.

10.) 18 Nov 2021 23:04:46
The timing of Gerrards leaving was maybe not so bad. He was clearly struggling to deliver the level of performance achieved last year. I lost count of the number of times posters on here were reduced to taking comfort from the result a game despite what was widely acknowledged as puzzlingly below par performances.
The manner of his leaving was shabby though. It is very difficult to believe that his appointment and that of his back room staff at Villa was the work of a couple of days.
Particularly disappointing given his track record of plain speaking and straight answers.
Thanks for what he did but I suspect we are in a better place now than we were two weeks ago.

11.) 18 Nov 2021 23:50:53
Ritereg I think the same mate but acknowledge Gerrard for what he has achieved with us.

12.) 19 Nov 2021 07:40:39
Ory I’ve already been slated on here for saying my piece but I agree with you. I hear about 1 in 9 trophies was shocking and he was tactically inept. It was the one trophy every rangers fan in the world wanted and his inept tactics of playing 3 up front has seen us playing some brilliant away performances in Europe and an attacking style of play not seen at I Rox for many a year!
The question I ask myself is this, when SG took over from the circus and shambles that we were, if someone said to me he’d win the league and stop 10, get through the group stages twice in Europe, transform the professionalism and implement solid foundations throughout the whole club, leave us part way through a season to manage in the premiership bit we’d still be in Europe, semi final of a cup and 4 points clear at the top of the league. Oh, and the league we won was done by going unbeaten! I for one would have bitten your hand off!
That said, it’s thanks SG and we move on to hopefully bigger and better things under Gio.

13.) 19 Nov 2021 08:36:52
1 in 9 is Celtic Da patter when you don't take into account the bigger picture.
From the starting position Gio has inherited ( top of the league, semi-final, Europa League Groups ) a few of you are going to be devastated when Gio doesn't deliver trebles and doubles every season.
I wonder who the first will be to question Gio's favoured 4-3-3?
Or call him a clown when he doesn't make the subs you demand or his tactics?
Or when he eventually leaves, who will be the first to question Gio's loyalty and call him him snake, rat etc.
Get over your bitterness and rage about an ex-manager you didn't rate but seem to be mightily upset about him leaving.
You need to stop embarrassing yourself over the denial of what Gerrard achieved and now look to the future under Gio.

14.) 19 Nov 2021 08:44:02
Not just themselves they are embarrassing MPH, they are embarrassing the club and it’s traditions.

Support the club and everything/ everyone connected during good and bad days.

Just my opinion.

15.) 19 Nov 2021 09:37:51
Tactically inept is exactly what you have just proved alloa. 433 worked a treat in europe we all agree but in the spl? Have you watched us this year? Its anything but free flowing attacking football. Gerrard did nothing to change it. Hopefully Gio's 433 is the attacking kind where we have pace directness and we get players running in behind and not the 433 where fredo can't score, we play tippy infront of teams and we ship goals right left and centre.

16.) 19 Nov 2021 12:11:21
New guy - this season? agree hasn't been pretty but so far we sit 4 pts clear at the top of the league, semi final of a cup and if we win our next European game against Sparta should be in the knockout stages of Europe for the 3rd year running, we are not having as bad a season as you suggest but hopefully GvB will get us back playing more attractive football again.

18 Nov 2021 11:16:01
McLeish suggested McAllister's experience and testimony may have helped convince Gerrard to leave Rangers for Villa. Gerrard revealed on Villa TV McAllister raved over the "size, history, tradition" and the "people" of Aston Villa in conversations about moving clubs.

orygbmb

1.) 18 Nov 2021 11:56:10
Personally, I am just pleased that we didn't offer McAllister the Rangers managers Job. Beale is the person that I would have liked but I am delighted that we look like getting Van Bronkhurst.

17 Nov 2021 11:55:14
Agbonlahor seems convinced that his old club are only after the premium talents, suggesting that no Rangers star is worthy of pursuing.

orygbmb

1.) 17 Nov 2021 12:01:49
Only Patterson and Kamara would come into that category imo, Kent isn’t consistent and Alf is nowhere near that quality.

2.) 17 Nov 2021 12:02:28
And aribo has all the talent in the world but runs down blind alleys.

3.) 17 Nov 2021 12:28:53
Aribo will be EPL player no doubt about it.

4.) 17 Nov 2021 12:29:16
Patterson with the way he has developed and seems to have a great attitude would be a great acquisition for any decent side.

5.) 17 Nov 2021 13:21:33
Aribo probably will Paul, so will hundreds of others, will he be a “ premium talent “ though, I have very big doubts about that.

6.) 17 Nov 2021 14:49:18
Tom he's got more chance imo than anyone else in our squad right now.

7.) 17 Nov 2021 14:51:52
Aribo has been our best player this year hands down and I think he could be the one SG goes for if Villa needs a player like him which I wouldn’t know as I don’t know much about Villa.

8.) 17 Nov 2021 17:19:56
Kamara is the one who SG would go for.

9.) 17 Nov 2021 18:15:27
You may well be right, it’s only an opinion.

10.) 17 Nov 2021 18:42:11
Joe Aribo was always Gerrard's go-to player, never dropped, never let his manager down. He's the only player we have who could operate in any league.

11.) 17 Nov 2021 20:40:52
Kamara could easily.

11 Nov 2021 11:37:25
I like most of you disappointed about the timing of the departure but what we should remember is what things would be like now if Gerrard hadn't given us all our most important 55.Ok we are now in a bit of a pickle going forward but we have to give faith in our board to keep us at the top of Scottish football. Most fans on here angry with Gerrard but I wish him well as he has left us with a much improved team and hopefully we can kick on from this with a good appointment on our next manager.

Camoo I don't think its a case of him not being interested as his performances this season have proved, it's more the fact he wants to prove to himself that he is able to play in a better league than the one we can offer, and also of course earn good money. We just have to accept that Rangers are a stepping stone for players wishing to play at a higher level, and if we can get 2 or 3 good seasons out of these types of players, great.

I say play the youth players that are banging on the door and give them some much needed first team games, they don't come better than a European tie against Lyon who in my opinion may play a weekend side to allow players that are on the fringe for them. Ok we may forfeit 500K but we could discover that one of our boys are ready, what do you think guys?
