Regarding a hot topic involving Dessers. First of all the 20 goals he has scored obviously takes the pressure off his failings and the failings seem to point towards his first touch and that leads to chances that fail to hit the net. I actually like his attitude and work rate. Mark hately was never a great footballer but he brought the same magic to the table as he provided that link with super Ally-. Silva is an epic fail alongside dessers as we now know . Wonder if we could keep dessers and provide a partnership up front with an out and out 6 yard box man who has that magic first touch and can play alongside him.

And a level of finesse maybe required he seems to struggle.

A goal every 2 games including some very important goals plus countless assists I'd say Mark Hateley was a very good footballer for us. Great goalscorer great provider and an absolute warrior of a player. Wouldn't have got 9 in a row without him.

agree with you all but the magic words i mentioned were "at that stage in his career". don't see european stats if someone can enlighten me on how great a footballer he was on our european stage . interested to find out.

The difference between "Great " and "Good" is a very thin line. when he played for us much like gascoigne he was a good footballer. great no. would i take him at that stage after his injury prone career . absolutely. but its just my take.

Hately was a fantastic player, you don't play for Milan if you are a dud. If we had someone as good as him playing for us, I'd be delighted. I also remember he wasn't getting picked for England due to anti Scottish football bias. Make no mistake, he was a very good player.

Hately being that good in the air takes away from how good he was with the ball at his feet, happens to a lot of players, people remember jukebox’s Durie for his work rate but his goal rate at a time when other top strikers at club was phenomenal.

Had around 90 assists. Not bad for a good player imo.

A lot of fans wanted rid of him in the 1st season took him time but he was a fantastic footballer.

14 years ago last time a striker score 20+ goals for us in a season and that was Kenny miller.
