Yip he did get slaughtered but got slaughtered not for his ability but because he was favoured over ally mccoist by souness ?I can remember the big man scoring against hearts at tynecastle late on to win us the game and some of our supporters weren't even celebrating because it was hateley who scored the goal ?He was a superb striker, who put the absolute fear of death into opposition defenders ?He was immense in the air, was a flying machine and a left peg like a wand ???.

Did we not get big Hately in for Cup Final against the sheep, at the last minute on loan, and he scared the bejesus out them and we won.

I was a big fan of both derek's, ie. johnstone and parlane (born is the king of ibrox park) but for me big mark hateley still edges it for me ?.

Derek johnstone was even better than Hateley, he scored over 50 goals the in 1978, then scotland didn't use him in the W. C.
DJ, scored the winner at 16 v celtic in the cup, played C. H. In our only euro cup winners cup trophy, scored in every game i can remember throughout the 70’s. I love Hateley, but Johnstone was on a different planet. Now colin stein fans are next!

Big Mark was slower than a week in the jail when he arrived from Monaco. He had sustained an injury and was struggling to stay fit at the time. Got to say the Rangers staff did some job on him. He was quick and strong and could shoot with either foot. Obviously great header of the ball. The complete CF. Big DJ was also an incredible talent and so versatile. I've said it on here before but I'll say it once again - Colin Stein was THE MAN!
