Absolutely terrible. And once again we are yet to see a Danny Rohl Rangers team control the midfield.

I watched Motherwell dominating Celtic at Parkhead yesterday in the 1st half. Had them chasing shadows for long periods of the half and created a few chances. Appreciate they made a few individual errors which cost them. But when they play, they are playing 2 or 3 passes in front of the actual pass.

Whereas, we have absolutely no system. Every time a player gets the ball he does the obvious thing. Look up and see who's available.

It's far too predictable and tbh It's not good enough.

Against one of the worst teams in the league, we scraped a win, against the bottom side we scraped a draw. That's not title winning performances.

And one of the biggest concerns into the Rohl project is he still doesn't know his best team and the roles in which those players are used. Appreciate the 3 points but it's very alarming.

And yet, the Motherwell team, when pressed by Celtic, couldn't play through that press. That is why the individual errors happened, and why the goals were scored against them. Surely you would expect a manager of Askou's class to have identified that really early, and told them to play long to break the press. Or perhaps trying to get players who don't have the ability to play that style is what goes against them sometimes when that pressing happens.

Celtic showed us how to beat Motherwell now by pressing high, as they couldn't break that press.

Also, Motherwell may have done okay in stages, but their having Celtic chasing shadows created just 3 shots on target for them, so no end product. And that was before the sending off. Celtic also hit woodwork twice. Results will win the league, not pretty football, although I would want more of that.
Amazing how 2 people see a different game. 🤷

Angus, the awning off killed them yesterday or they would have got points off them.

Why do you always praise our players but if someone praises another team then you criticise them?
It's very strange you have never a good word to say about mwell.
But even when we are rotten you praise us.

15 Mar 2026 16:28:56
Zikos, we controlled midfield last week v Celtic for 120 mins and still lost.

15 Mar 2026 16:38:13
Storm, this is a weekly event now though, and it is being done to criticise Rohl and praise Askou. They are a team who play nice football, but there can be little end product. They are also a team who are 7 points behind us, and have only 1 less draw. So the praise isn't warranted, imo, to the level it is given. If you want to praise a team, then why not Hearts and McInnes, as they are above us. 🤷

I also don't think they would have got points from Celtic if the man hadn't been sent off. Maeda would have scored the header, and it would have been 2-1, as Celtic had managed to work out the press to get the ball back quickly. So Motherwell may have had possession, but they don't hurt teams with that possession and win, especially against the top 6 (12 from 36 points).

The 1-1 draw against us is another example of it.

I praise us and our players because Rangers are the team I support, and I want the best for us even when we are poor. Do you really see that as strange?

You don't see that the poster only praises Motherwell and their manager. I think both of those are strange. I say they play good football, but can also see the lack of end product. As an example, they had more possession yesterday than Celtic, but had 3 shots on target. That was before the sending off, btw.

So why do you always criticise my posts? Does the fact I support the team, even when they are poor or playing badly, annoy you somehow? As I say, strange. 🤷

15 Mar 2026 16:54:40
What I will say is Motherwell don't have a third of the budget we have, and they're not far behind us.
That tells a story in itself.

I think Chermiti may be more expensive than their entire playing squad.
So please do give Motherwell and their manager a bit of credit where it's due.

15 Mar 2026 17:09:04
Angus, I can only presume by your first reply that you don't watch the game. They had Celtic chasing shadows for much of the 1st half and were constantly beating the press with their quick passing and clever movement.

Yes, they lost a goal by not recognising danger and should have sent it long in that instance.

But we won't play as well as Motherwell did in that 1st half in any game from now until the end of the season. We play one dimensional, predictable football.

15 Mar 2026 17:47:00
Zikos, I did watch a bit of it and the highlights. Perhaps the bits I watched were where Celtic were pressing and Motherwell weren't beating the press, their players made mistakes/couldn't cope, and Celtic's first goal came directly from it. the corner for the second came from same press. their third was a GK kick which their CH didn't deal with (sounds like us). btw Motherwell goal came from a Celtic mistake and not good open play; although the press was well executed.

As I said, no point in having lots of possession and having the opposition chasing shadows if it leads to 3 shots on target and a defeat. That is possession for the sake of it. we were being criticised for it not that long ago. we may be poor today but we got it over the line and won 3 points. is that not a sign of champions on here?

We have played well in games, Hearts and Celtic being a couple in recent memory.

we may even win the league and I am sure no fan will care what performances were like if that happens.

our football one dimensional or not is enough to have us above Motherwell and in a 3 way battle for the title. we may fall short but we have still got to this point after a dreadful start to the league.

so Rohl needs more time and Askou isn't the answer imo. and budget has some bearing on league position but we don't accept being behind Celtic with our lower turnover/budget so the argument runs both ways.
So I will continue to support Rangers through good and bad. feel free to look across the fence at Motherwell if you choose to and covet their manager.

15 Mar 2026 18:46:45
Angus, when comparing us with Motherwell it's not fair unless you compare resources. And ours blow theirs out the water. And yet they play better football than us, and we're only a few points ahead of them.

If JBA had our squad, they would be out of sight in my opinion.

15 Mar 2026 20:12:37
Zikos, I expect Rangers to win leagues despite Celtic having a £55-60M advantage over us in budget. That difference this season has equated to 1 point.

They are 7 points behind btw with 1 less draw than ours. They play prettier football but the results aren't coming despite that. Also they have lots of possession but don't create much.
53% yesterday and 3 shots on target.
54% against us in December and 5 shots on target (we won 1-0).
In February they had 64% against us and 6 on target (we had 4 with our 36%). They had to rely on a mistake 3 minutes from the end.
So pretty football without end product wouldn't go down well with our fans.

So you have your opinion that with our (poor? ) squad he would be miles ahead but I don't see any evidence other than we would have more possession. Oh, and our poor manager (according to you) has managed to beat their total by 8 points since Rohl took over. Martin had 12 and Askou had 13 at that time. That is why Well fans wanted him gone.

So use the resource argument all you want but the evidence shows he isn't managing results against all the others in the league so not just comparing him against us.

He has done a good job but not one that would make me want to swap him for Rohl.

16 Mar 2026 15:21:24
100% Angus.

15 Mar 2026 13:05:01
Chermiti is back to being a useless lump again. Absolute sitter again. Hope this gets me a slagging off after 2nd half.

Kaiser, he should have scored, no doubt. But the recovery tackle was very good. We should have had a corner from it. Not defending the miss, as I say, but as an ex-defender, I like to see that last ditch challenge.

15 Mar 2026 12:53:48
Honking half of football.

Gassama a waste of a jersey again, so far.
I can't see what Rohl sees in big Naderi yet. His every second touch is a tackle.

Not a Rangers post but did anyone watch the arsenal game yesterday. Young 16 year old subbed on for arsenal. Think his name is dowman. Absoloutly stole the show when he came on. Great assist for 1 goal then a great goal running 70 yards of the pitch taking on 2 players to score his goal. Credit where it's due.

15 Mar 2026 12:57:20
Seen it, Davie. Seen Guler scoring from around 70m out; must be the best from that range I've seen. Dowman looks like he'll be next level.

15 Mar 2026 12:59:25
Great moment for the kid. And brave from Arteta when they were drawing at the time.

15 Mar 2026 14:59:26
Davie, he played in the Champions League at 15 years old, mate, but we can't play Scotland in any competition at 15 years old.

15 Mar 2026 07:52:41
@ASA - both teams to score in the Brann game today?

Best of luck for the start of the season

Tomorrow could pull 3 points and actually top the goals position which could be important so let's try score a few

Laudrup, let's just win.

14 Mar 2026 15:23:28
I'm sure we're all in agreement that another mini rebuild will be required by Danny Rohl in the summer 🤔 Certain players will leave/be sold making way for Danny to bring in his choice of signings 🤔I like many was delighted when we signed bojan Miovski even though it was russell martin who signed him, by for whatever reasons Danny Rohl doesn't fancy him and i truly believe that Rohl will either sanction to sell Miovski or loan him out this summer 🤔 It's unfortunate because i most definitely think Miovski is a natural goalscorer but for whatever reasons doesn't seem to fit our style of play and the way Rohl wants him strikers to play/perform 🤔 What's everyone else thinking regarding Miovski 🤔

Agree2

14 Mar 2026 16:25:43
Had his chance imo. But if we are going to persist with a 2 up top, he might still have a role to play yet. But I'd sell him.

14 Mar 2026 16:38:16
A mini rebuild with a new manager.

14 Mar 2026 17:02:22
I am not sure another mini rebuild is required. I think that makes it sound unplanned, but the club will have plans in place on how to improve again for next season.
When we start to play 100% the way Rohl wants us to, with those new players, will that style suit Miovski better? Also, a full pre-season to embed that style might also help him.

He has scored goals when we find him in the box. We just don't do it often enough.

14 Mar 2026 17:02:53
Who would you want as manager, Blue?

14 Mar 2026 18:47:37
Miovski has never been a natural goalscorer. He had 2 good seasons in his full career, and that proves it.

14 Mar 2026 18:47:47
Angus, we were basically going to need a new defence. 100% need a proper number 9 striker that's going to get us goals. Going to need right and left wingers.

14 Mar 2026 19:19:19
I would say it basically is a rebuild: new lb, rb, 2 new cb, a winger needed; that's just covering the loan players. We need 7/8 in the summer.

14 Mar 2026 20:22:39
It can't be ruled out.

14 Mar 2026 20:41:08
Think it's going to be more than a mini rebuild based on replacements for loan players alone, never mind the end of contract players like Tav, and then there's a chance we get offers for players who then want to leave, plus those that need to be moved on like Miovski. This could be a turnaround of 12-14 players.

14 Mar 2026 22:10:45
It's 100% a rebuild. Full defence, a couple of midfielders, a striker, wingers.

15 Mar 2026 00:23:00
It's a bye for Miovski from me. He just doesn't look like a football player with our system, whatever it is.

15 Mar 2026 08:12:45
It depends how this season plays out. No one now expects us to win the league, which should give the players abit of freedom. If we continue to play the next 9 games in this turgid way and chuck away more silly points, I think it's reasonable to say time for a change in the summer.

15 Mar 2026 08:24:16
Rohl has said that he hopes to have a squad of 21/22, so will all those loan players be replaced? Aarons hasn't been on the pitch for how long, so will he be replaced?
I just happen to think a few will be surprised by how many of the starting 11 this season continue to be in that starting 11 next season - Butland, Rommens, Sterling (?), Manny, Tochi, Dio, Raskin (?), Chermiti, Naderi, Skov Olsen (?) and others such as Gassama, Aasgaard and Antman might be as well.

I think we will add to those rather than tear it all up and start again, which is what I take to be a rebuild.

15 Mar 2026 09:28:51
I actually noticed quite a good understanding between Miovski and Naderi in Naderi's first appearance. Naderi went high and Miovski dropped a bit deeper, then scored, I'm sure. Not sure why we haven't tried that again since. 🤷‍♂️

15 Mar 2026 11:09:47
I get what you are saying, Angus, but the reality is we can't rely on Sterling for a whole season. We don't know if Skov will stay. I expect offers for Dio, Raskin and Chermiti based on recent rumours and the need to generate transfer fees. Even last summer there was interest in the likes of Barron, and he allegedly wanted to go, but we blocked it. If all this happens, we immediately have big holes in that starting 11, and that's why it's probably a bigger job that falls more into a rebuild than not. Then, the interest in Gassama, if true, means we'd likely cash in. Antman apparently wanted out, and seems to be struggling, injury-wise.

If Rohl wants 21/22 players, we potentially will still need to bring in 12-14 players to achieve that.

Most, if not all, loans returned, out-of-contract players gone, eg Tav, Matondo. Cameron sounds unlikely to return. The squad should be smaller, but I think the turnover is still going to be significant.

We need cover at RB, LB, 2 CH's, potentially 2 or 3 in midfield if the above transfers happen, and then, depending on what happens, Naderi might be our only striker. Miovski should be gone, so potentially 2 more strikers are needed, and we will need 2-3 more wingers.

The more I think about it, the worse it appears to be, and we could be looking to bed in an awful lot of new players again.
