Hearing lots of rumours about incomings-which is great.
Although, I'm concerned we will end up with a bulging squad if we don't shift some of the ones already here.
We have sent around 7 back who were on loan, but we have about 7 to return. Who likely won't get a look in and experience shows, we've had trouble moving them on for fees. And I'd imagine some of our current squad will be on their way out.
Cameron
McCausland
Nsiala
Cifuentes
Cortes
Nsio
Curtis
Do any of these have a future apart from Curtis?
We currently have 4 defenders and could potentially lose Sterling and Fernandez. Meaning we'd need to bring in 6 if we want two for each position.
We currently have 7 midfielders and could lose 👇 meaning we could need 5 in.
Dio
Raskin
Rice
Bahrami
The our forward line we have 6 including Shankland. Could lose
Miovski
Antman
Gassama
Chermiti
Which could leave us looking for another 3 wingers and a forward.
Then possibly Butland off.
We could lose 16 players from our squad including the loans who will be returning.
That's scary and a lot of work needing down in a couple of months. It's going to take more than this window.
Take all that away who are we actually left with? I count 8 😫😳
Thoughts?

Oh, and Danilo. Forgot about him. So that's 17 and Tavs already gone, so potentially could be 18. 😱
27 May 2026 22:29:08
Gazza, of the names you list though, 9-10 of them didn't play for us last season. So would we need to replace them? Yes, we need to get rid of them, although I would keep Rice, Nsio and Curtis.
I hear squad of 26 plus academy, so not sure how many that means we will need from the 26 there who played last season.
27 May 2026 22:45:21
Angus,
I get what you're saying. However, we brought in others to replace those.
So, I'd still say we need a large amount of additions.
I don't think we look to offload this many in one transfer window and have such a huge change and large number of incomings.
27 May 2026 23:05:49
Kelly, Sterling, Souttar, Fernandez, Rommens, Barron, Aasgaard, Cameron, Chukwuani, Gassama, Curtis, Chermiti, Shankland, Naderi.
Antman? I'd keep.
Butland, Rankin, Diomande, McCausland, Bajrami, Miovski, Cifuentes, 30m+.
1 Gk, 2 Rb, 2 Cb's, Lb, Dcm, 2 Cm's, Rw, hopefully Moore on loan.
26 man squad.
Sterling can cover most positions, why 2 Rb's, unless a youngest is good enough.
27 May 2026 23:09:21
I would keep McCausland also.
27 May 2026 23:19:57
Forgot about Danilo.
28 May 2026 09:46:58
Star, our issue has always been getting someone to want them. And you also forgot about Sterling (and Shankland 😉). But I tend to agree with who we keep. We might see some players who can play multiple as back up as well, to keep us covered for injuries.
28 May 2026 14:14:44
And Cortes.
28 May 2026 16:53:45
There's a player in nsio.
27 May 2026 11:26:59
Seen this on x regarding Dan Neil:
"The72 - We Love the #EFL
@_The72
Ipswich Town fans, would you like to see Dan Neil signed permanently? 🤔
If so, there might be some new competition for his signature 🐺".
The comments are very underwhelming from Ipswich fans.

27 May 2026 11:43:41
Saw quite a few Sunderland fans slate him as well.
27 May 2026 11:44:14
Kenny, be better asking the Sunderland fans, he only played 16 games for Ipswich after January, he wouldn't have been truly game fit either as only played 3 games for Sunderland before then.
27 May 2026 11:47:21
Reidpt, did you? I find that very hard to believe.
27 May 2026 11:54:22
Never heard one Sunderland slate Dan Neil, Read. I just said to my Mrs what I've just read, she just laughed and shook her head.
27 May 2026 12:05:49
Saw a good few on the comments of the YouTube videos saying he slows the game down, not good enough, etc. Time will tell. Seems to be our preferred target over Watt.
Think we've just been burned with Championship players too many times. Every single one of them has been world beaters and would walk it up here. Hopefully if he does come it's different.
27 May 2026 12:14:05
Reid, telling you now, I've never heard that from one Sunderland fan, slows the game down? Also, I find that very hard to believe, as he is always looking to play the ball forward.
27 May 2026 16:54:52
Star, I have looked a lot to see what people say about him. Any analyst tends to think he is better as an advanced 8 or a deep lying playmaker rather than a straight holding number 6. So, I suppose it depends which deep lying player we need, but his strengths don't seem to lie in his defensive awareness or his physical tackling.
On a lot of notice boards and the Roker forum that I can see.
Not looking to argue or challenge your opinion, just that this is what I can see.
27 May 2026 17:31:22
Angus, Niel is an 8, mate, converted a few seasons ago. He was outstanding playing 6 in the prompted side, yes deep lying player maker, but I would disagree if they posted on here about defensive awareness.
Niel is very clued up on the game, and wins a fair amount of duels, not a physical player, but his technical awareness gets him out of a tricky situation.
Sure he played an 8 on loan at Ipswich.
27 May 2026 18:21:30
Star, that is what I mean. He is a more natural 8. We already have Raskin and Barron who we were/are trying to convert from 8s to 6s. I would like a number 6 who is that deep lying breaker up of play and a playmaker for that position.
That allows our FBs to break forward. Sort of a Ryan Jack who allowed Tavs to do that in his prime.
So, is Neil here to replace one of Barron or Raskin as an 8?
27 May 2026 18:45:40
Angus, Raskin and Barron can't control a game from deep. He would, even if we use him as an 8. I just want him signed, mate, lol. More players with his leadership all the better. He does play as an 8, you'd see what I'm talking about with his workrate. It's something else, but very capable of playing deeper.
Raskin and Diomande will probably be away.
27 May 2026 19:21:05
Can't comment on Dan Neil as I've not seen anything of him, but the last thing we need is another player who slows things down. We are absolutely terrible for it.
27 May 2026 20:18:37
Lawrence, that ain't Neil slowing things down, always playing the ball forward, none of this back the way.
27 May 2026 22:44:30
Star that is me against him now. If he can't pass the ball back the way then he must b no use. 😉
Seriously though, Raskin and Barron aren't those deep lying playmakers or No6s. Since early in Clement's time, we have been trying to get that experienced no 6 and not got him.
I am not sure Neil is that either, no matter how good you think he is. And I'm not arguing that, as I haven't seen him. We really need someone who can play that protective, playmaker. I don't think that player is Watt either. I had hoped Anderson would come, but that seems out as well now.
28 May 2026 07:33:32
Angus, I just leave it for Rohl and the recruitment team, but I know why Rohl fancies Niel.
28 May 2026 09:48:42
Star, so do I, as I don't know much about players we are linked with. I also never see many we are openly linked with join us. I don't know Rohl, so do not know if he does like him either. Not saying he would be, but just don't see him as that No 6 we have been promised for ages from what I have read.
28 May 2026 09:50:15
See, unless you've watched him yourself a right good few times, I'd be ignoring what some random fan on X thinks. If you believe them, you're assuming they have an eye for a player and a relatively good knowledge of the game. I can't recall watching him once, and they might be right, but if our scouting team has watched him and he's captained Sunderland in the Championship, he's got something.
My worry is always, can they deal with the expectation here, the speed of the game and the physicality.
28 May 2026 09:59:11
Angus, supposedly Rohl wants him, only from the media.
28 May 2026 11:12:43
Star, I tend to take what is written in media with a pinch of salt. Someone can like a player but not think he will fit in and improve their team. Nothing against Neil, as rarely seen him play. Just don't see him as the no 6 from what I've read. However, I have a new hat to eat when I am wrong. 😉
28 May 2026 13:35:53
Same as me with the media, Angus, hardly get any information on Rangers now, mate, did with GVB and Beale, started drying up with Clement, the way I like it though, why I believe others will also be struggling now.
26 May 2026 23:02:56
Scottish players we have had and let go or missed out on include Patterson, Doig, Ferguson, Bowie, Gilmour, McBurnie was available before he went to Hull on free, Ross McCrorie, lennon Miller, Max Johnstone, Josh Mulligan most of these guys would improve our team, not only that but we could have had Shankland for last two years for nothing and we let Curtis go to Kille whilst having Skov Olsen playing garbage.
There needs to be action in getting Scottish talent back into our squad and fast. If any of the above are available we need to get them even if it means selling our best players because our best at the moment got us 3rd in the league and no cup wins and out of Europe very early.
Most of the above are under 25, McBurnie is out of our price range now he is on premiership wages. same for Ferguson and Gilmour I would imagine. Not Scottish but Azeez scored twice today for Nigeria in 2 nil win, cannot see Gers being able to afford him, especially after the season he has just had. However If it is true that Gers are looking his Youtube clips are very decent. Barney Stewart and Calvin Miller anybody?
Agree1
26 May 2026 23:57:29
I would bring in Barney Stewart if we could.
27 May 2026 00:00:28
Stewart and Miller will be going to Hearts if McInnes gets his way.
27 May 2026 07:10:01
Only me it was absolutely correct decision to let Curtis out on loan.
27 May 2026 08:07:37
That is just a list of Scottish players. My memory is Gilmour didn't want to stay. I just don't rate McBurnie more than a battering ram. Others left or weren't signed for reasons at the time. Some might have wanted to stay or come, but for some reason it didn't happen.
I don't plan on ever berating the club or any player for that.
Also, I am sure we don't use YouTube clips as our recruitment source. I can send you mine now, and I look fantastic. 😉 I am cheaper than Azeez as well.
27 May 2026 17:13:00
Are your YouTube clips not all in black and white, Angus? 😃
27 May 2026 18:08:49
YouTube is just what folk shouted watching me play.
27 May 2026 18:24:57
Shanksi, they are a bit like the Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse Arsenal team sketch of 1933. Have a look online for it if you don't remember. I am the one with the pipe. 😂
Kaiser. 😂 I was the midfield anchor, I think that was what they said anyway. 😉
28 May 2026 05:31:28
The same Calvin Miller that was in the Celtic end at the Scottish Cup game jumping about with Stephen Welsh etc? No thanks.
28 May 2026 08:24:26
It wasn't our best players who got us 3rd, it was our worst players that caused that.
28 May 2026 11:13:12
Geesa, I think you will find they were all culpable of that.
26 May 2026 19:39:43
Right who's next? 😂.

26 May 2026 15:59:55
Hear, hear, John.
26 May 2026 18:24:34
He'll find his way back or is he already here. 🥸
26 May 2026 21:05:21
One of the best posters, miss you a lot, "Will you no come back again?"
26 May 2026 21:50:48
Fork 🤔 I wonder.
26 May 2026 21:58:51
Great post, John. 🐑 I miss his posts. Great poster.
26 May 2026 23:00:56
Yip, come on home. 👍
27 May 2026 09:27:47
Loved his knowledge of things Scandinavian player wise and beyond.
Great poster.
27 May 2026 10:25:15
Hope he's OK, because been thru a lot, but I'm sorry, but the site has been miles better since he stopped without all the constant arguments. Been plenty of disagreements, but hardly any of the fallouts.
Not blaming it all on him. Random Scandinavian footballers might be interesting, but rarely had anything actually to do with Rangers. If he comes back, great, but hope it doesn't result in all the nonsense again.
27 May 2026 11:27:53
Takes 2 to Tango, Kaiser.
27 May 2026 11:45:45
Echo that John, take care, Aph.
27 May 2026 12:44:02
Kaiser, was it Aph though, or people just having a go, because for about a week after he left, people kept asking about him and making comments toward him.
27 May 2026 14:14:39
I agree and defended him most of the time too. A lot was folk who just wanted to have a go. Just got sick of the daily Aph stuff from both sides. And I do think the site has been miles better since it's stopped. Wish him well tho.
27 May 2026 14:26:14
Kaiser, that's a bad post, mate, as it was others that like to rile him up. People didn't like him for whatever reason, I have my opinion on that but will keep that on the QT as I don't want to get back into it, but some of our fans aren't the most welcoming.
27 May 2026 15:45:10
Apologies if I caused offence then, Storm.
28 May 2026 08:27:24
Kaiser, there are many posters on here that just wait to have a dig and then others that are more than happy to jump on the bandwagon.
We apparently can't have a decent debate on here without it turning personal.
26 May 2026 13:02:45
Afternoon lads a have asked a couple of times what's happened 2 the OOC players we singed month's ago thanks.
Agree1
26 May 2026 13:17:21
And I answered that they can't be signed until they are out of contract or registered until after 15 June. End of season doesn't mean that their contracts are finished with a club.
26 May 2026 13:41:50
Not true, Angus, we were told the deals were done and dusted, so why can't the names be posted. So it's OK to say who we're trying 2 sign but can't tell who we have signed any one. 🤔 What league are we waiting on finishing. 🤔
26 May 2026 13:51:36
Majority of contracts do not expire until 31st of May.
{Ed001's Note - only in Scotland. Most expire end of June.}
26 May 2026 13:59:59
Peter, so how can we talk about signing Shankland but not 2 players who've already signed. I really don't get why on a rumours page the names can't be put up. Doesn't make sense. 🤔 8.
26 May 2026 14:15:08
Manchester Ger, I'd imagine that whoever said about the 2 OOC has possibly been told in good faith by someone close to the club, maybe don't want to ruin a relationship by blabbing on here. It's not always as straightforward as just being able to say names, mate.
Like you, I'd like it if they could, but also respect if they can't. The Shankland rumour has been everywhere, so it's a bit different, imo. Just my take on it Manchester. 👍
26 May 2026 14:27:18
Bb4, they don't seem 2 mind any other time passing on information they were told by inside people in Ibrox. So they can't even say what league that Rangers are waiting on finishing. 🤔
26 May 2026 14:41:56
Shankland news has come out one way or another, it's all over the news outlets. Other names will come out when they come out, whether that's early or on the day they are officially announced. Who cares.
If you don't have information to give, you can't moan about people who don't want to share names.
26 May 2026 14:52:18
Tav, so why did they post it in the first place. 🤔 They were happy 2 say at the time the information came from one top men at Ibrox. And who cares. Think everyone would care who we have signed or wouldn't be on a Rangers transfer rumours site. That's just my view.
{Ed001's Note - oh give it a rest, this is so boring. It is not up to you to tell people what they can and cannot post.}
26 May 2026 15:07:05
So so not true. You never been told about the precontract? If they were really out of contract like stated.
26 May 2026 15:13:09
Hello, I assume this is a pop at me, as I was the one who posted that I believe the deals are done for 4 players, 2 of which through freedom of contract.
I have said on multiple occasions that I won't speculate on players names, ages, clubs, leagues, shoe sizes or relationship status - as I do not have this information.
You can believe this or not - really doesn't bother me.
For the avoidance of doubt, I believe we signed a GK, LCB, CDM and RW. I expect the club to announce them when they see fit to announce them, and I expect all 4 to report for phase 1 or 2 of preseason.
26 May 2026 15:21:19
Manchester, I don't know if you're having a dig at me, I clearly stated I will not be posting most of what I hear, as so many get abusive and upset if a rumpor does not happen.
That's why so many great posters don't post anymore.
I see u refer info comes from inside Ibrox. That actually rules me out.
26 May 2026 15:29:50
Yeah, that's why I come on to the rumours site. I 100% agree. However, if there's no new names or no confirmed names, it is what it is, and I'll come back and check another time. I'm not going to start moaning at people who said we have pre contracts agreed.
Who's to say they even know? What if they were told by someone they know "we've signed at OOC goalkeeper" and they've then passed that on. Should they not pass it on because Manchester Ger needs names?
26 May 2026 15:33:41
Think it's very easy for plans to change, but I really don't see the harm in saying which players are being targets, especially when a poster gives a big list of players targeted, then later posts I'm not going to mention names. It kinda doesn't match up, does it?
I mostly post from a point of opinion. I think only two I’ve been passed inside info on were the whole Sakala Beale thing before it came out, and a recent unofficial bid for Watt.
Apart from that, it's all opinion, and I think that's a better place to post from.
Must be annoying when you know something is true and people rubbish you for it. And I certainly understand why that makes people reluctant to post, as people attack your credibility, and you also risk annoying your source.
26 May 2026 15:49:03
Foreverrangers, again, I assume this is aimed at me as I posted a team of players we are actively scouting.
If you look through each of those players, they are all players where our links have been detailed in the media or online - as I checked before posting it.
Therefore I wasn't sharing any information that wasn't already out in the public, I was simply consolidating a bunch of rumours I knew to be accurate in order to create conversation - which it did.
I do occasionally get information on players we are scouting, negotiating with or even signing that aren't in the public sphere - however, I have never once posted these.
In fact, the vast majority of information around signing gossip I have is from the Scottish League, and pretty much all of this is leaked from the selling club.
Again, I will always share what I'm comfortable sharing and really don't care if posters believe it or not.
26 May 2026 16:16:27
Ehl, is it true that any player at the World Cup has to be given 30 days off by his club and is a law that's been brought in?
26 May 2026 16:23:29
Ehl, no it wasn't actually you, not saying anything else in the matter, apparently it's boring asking who we have signed.
26 May 2026 16:34:37
EHL/John, despite not being a believer of rumours, I enjoy when you post anything you care to share and hope you continue to, as with others as well. I have an internal discussion as to whether I think it is likely or want it to happen. If they don't, then wait for the next one to repeat the process. Simple really, but then again I am just that.
This is always like Christmas for me.
I can see the present sitting there, but need to wait for the day before I can open it and stop the anticipation. That is part of the enjoyment; if you already know what it is, then the opening is less enjoyable, surely.
I would never think of annoying my wife asking every day what it is. Not just because she would tell em where to go anyway. 🤷
26 May 2026 16:42:34
It's 14 days, I think, mate, unless rules have changed.
26 May 2026 18:25:56
One Walter as, a Chester says it used to be 14 days, FIFA wanted 28 clubs said no.
26 May 2026 18:27:29
Patience, my young padowan, all will be revealed in the fullness of time. Or not. 😇
26 May 2026 22:28:04
Ehl, I would go as far as to say you have absolutely no reason to defend yourself.
Think people forget this is an anonymous Rumours site. Not an ITK site. We are all fans (and some undercover agents. Not that kind, the dark side kind) who want to share things we see to ensure others see as well. I love in Ayrshire, so have no connections to Ibrox other than my love for the club. I am not ITK, and everything I share is from journos, X, other forums or transfer sites.
I don't post every single thing I see but I do post the majority. Now, for the guys who perhaps are more ITK, like Ehl, these guys may have sources, relationships or jobs that could be jeopardised. John has stated his reasons, and, whilst I think he could brush the criticism off (not a dig, John), that's my opinion based on me and my view of things.
John is quite entitled to hold as much as he likes and to vocalise his discontent on the folk on here demanding info.
If you don't know, you're not supposed to know. And, as my good man Fork states, Patience! We will know when we're supposed to know. It will lead to a lot less discontent if anything falls through late in deals.
Imagine hearing a player we want, gets to negotiations, we offer 3 years on 15k, they reject it and say I'm only signing if you give me 20k and 4 years. We then say ok. Fans would be going off their rocker! Aww, he's only here for the money, blah blah.
Bit of decency and respect for posters is required.
27 May 2026 05:27:32
Well said Murph. 👏👍
26 May 2026 10:15:25
With the Shankland announcement hopefully imminent, just wondered what everyone's thoughts are on if/how he could play alongside Chermiti?
Shankland is the finished article when it comes to goal scoring and he's added so many other parts to his game over the last couple of years. But I must say I thought Chermiti got better and better as the season went on and looks a top player, there's also no way he'll he benched with the club looking to make a good profit on him at some point.
The 2 of them up top would be unbelievable but just wanted to know if it's an effective partnership in everyone's eyes?
EHL maybe one for you, in particular.
Agree0
26 May 2026 10:54:54
I think Chermiti is the starter and Shankland has to win a place. No-one else will agree but hey ho. Chermiti, one goal less in his first season as a starter at a club, is a good return and he knows how to press and is decent at hold up. Shankland does the hold up and brings others into the game, but can't press.
That might mean him playing in behind a bit; however, when he did that the season before, he only scored 4 goals in the league. He will be a decent signing to help our two young lads, and be that leadership, but hope Chermiti doesn't get dropped to accommodate him.
26 May 2026 11:08:09
Chermiti is a better footballer than Shankland, easily imo.
26 May 2026 11:12:53
Not sure Chermiti will still be here next season. Have a feeling we will be selling biggest assets, possibly Fernandez and Raskin to go too.
26 May 2026 11:18:33
Why wouldn't Chermiti be a Rangers player next season, Cullin? We can't be trading Chermiti for Shankland or we go back the way.
26 May 2026 11:40:27
We have missed out on Champs League bounty. We have already had a massive outlay on players. At some stage, we have to be making profit on players, which will mean selling on our most saleable assets.
Been saying it for best part of 10 years now. We still haven't moved forward on that front.
Really not sure how you read that as Shankland would be a straight swap for Chermiti though, anyway.
26 May 2026 11:41:58
From what I've seen of Shankland this season, I don't think we could have picked a better striker to play up front with Chermiti if Rohl wants to play 2 up top.
imo, if Rohl wants to play one up top, we've got a cracking back up option until Shankland proves he should be starting. Chermiti tops goals per 90 for the league, has more goals and assists and only one less goal than Shankland with no penalties.
He's got 20 goals and assists in league in just under 22 games worth of minutes, which is a pretty impressive return. Those stats are league stats only and obviously Chermiti scored 0 in Europe, which I'm sure will improve next season. Shankland also scored 4 goals in the League Cup, which all came in the group stage early in the season.
26 May 2026 12:24:55
I'd love to see the two of them up front together. Shankland even played a bit deeper. Always like a half striker would do for me. Keeping Chermiti, I think, is a must.
26 May 2026 13:05:51
I actually think the two of them could complement each other really well if used properly.
Chermiti looks more like the physical presence who can occupy defenders, run channels, and create space, whereas Shankland is more of the natural finisher who thrives off movement in and around the box.
What's impressed me most about Shankland the last couple of years isn't just the goals, it's how much his all-round game has improved. His link-up play, work rate, and ability to drop into pockets are miles ahead of where they were a few years ago.
For me, the biggest question would be whether the manager is willing to consistently play with two up top, because I definitely think there's enough there for it to work.
Like you said as well, there's no way Chermiti is brought in and then parked on the bench if the club sees him as a future major asset. The ideal scenario is probably both of them improving each other and taking pressure off one another rather than relying on one striker to carry the full load.
Also didn't realise most of Chermiti's goals were in the second half of the season.
What will he do this coming season? If he can score around 16 goals from January?

Sorry, but I keep hearing that Shankland is that natural finisher, but his shots on target and conversion rate were poorer than Chermiti's. In 24/25 season, Dessers' shots on target were better than both, and conversion in the league was just slightly poorer.
I worry he has become this mythical striker when the stats show he isn't as clinical as most seem to think. He is a good addition, but his chance taking isn't great.

I think both Naderi and Chermiti are similar in that they like to press and run the channels, however both are vastly inexperienced.
Shankland offers a completely different dynamic in that he is really comfortable dropping short to link up play, or playing as a target man.
I think we now have a genuine opportunity to adapt the system that Rohl prefers, so, in games where we need bodies in the midfield, we may see a midfield three with one striker, and in games where we need to break down a low block we'll see a two-man midfield, with either Shankland or Thelo playing off either Chermiti or Naderi.

Ehl, for myself, Shankland's biggest attribute is actually dropping deep and linking play. He's a very clever player.

Agree Peterpan, he's so underrated for that part of his game.

If some of the figures for Chermiti are true, he'll be off imo, so another striker will be signed.

I didn't want him, didn't think he was all that, but on watching him closer, because someone mentioned him just once or twice recently 👀 I have to admit his link up n give n go is pretty gd, not just that, he actually works for it, gt to agree with the guys above.
