Really looking forward to reading our former captain barry ferguson's column in the morras daily record. Wee baz doesn't hold back, so it will be interesting reading his views and take on the old firm semi-final on sunday.

21 Oct 2016 20:03:41
Didn't hold back when he was handed his ebt either? 😀.

21 Oct 2016 20:05:54
Who would disagree with that. Honestly we ridicule other sets of fans but we honestly have to look nearer home and question some of our own fans if it was them. Who'd disagree with someone saying they look forward to reading a rangers legend writing his own column in the newspaper tomorrow. Get a life!

21 Oct 2016 21:01:56
everyones got their own opinion, seems you want everybody to agree with yours, not a legend in my eyes.

21 Oct 2016 21:15:08
Would like dodoo to play on sun but just know it ain't going to happen. Front 3 will be usual waghorn Miller and mackay . I don't know what waghorn has got to do to get dropped when he's fit he plays. i know some fans will say mackay a the same but I've got more confidence that he will deliver than waghorn .

21 Oct 2016 22:09:53
Lets have it, who's a legend in your eyes truebluesotrue? If you don't count a homegrown talent like baz who was a great captain especially with the amount of trophies he lifted for us not to mention a terrific midfielder who put rangers before himself in many an occasion by playing through the pain barrier and taking injections to do so, then I don't know what your termination of legend is. that's why i'm curious to your definition of a 'gers legend.

22 Oct 2016 02:11:01
how wis barry no a legend? only negative a mind him doing was the vicky whilst playing for scotland.

we need to remember he handeled a huge team a ego's when they idiots were cheating our club with inflated budget.

he was solid and could make a tacle n hit a pass.

dont know how to please some a yous?

who was a bigger legend then? Davie Weir?

22 Oct 2016 07:02:51
Treble winning captain who played through the pain barrier for us for years and always looked genuinly devastated after bad defeats and people on here don't seem to think he's a legend baffles me to be honest.

22 Oct 2016 07:58:43
he's the best scottish player in about 20 years lol! and a very nice fella made mistakes but what player didn't.

22 Oct 2016 11:13:36
Well truebluesotrue hope that answers your question with the response to your good self when you stated barry ferguson wasn't a rangers legend. OF COURSE BAZ WAS A GLASGOW RANGERS LEGEND, BIG TIME MY FRIEND! Just take time to go through all the points that all other posters have stated regarding why baz is a true rangers legend! Then with all due respect to yourself, you can state all your reasons, why you think baz isn't a rangers legend!

22 Oct 2016 11:14:58
At last we agree cee, see a bit of a poet me. lol.

22 Oct 2016 11:50:37
Legend is an understatement, he can dine at ibrox for life.

22 Oct 2016 15:24:55
Dining at ibrox, now that's an experience.

22 Oct 2016 17:04:07
met barry ferguson loads of times and see first hand the work he's doing at Clyde, some people don't like him and it blinkers them. he was an absolutely fantastic player and captain from what the age of 21?

22 Oct 2016 17:55:08
Cee, do you think baz will go on to become a very good manager and a possible rangers manager one day going on what you've seen regarding his coaching ability at Clyde? I've also had the privilege of meeting baz myself on 2 previous occasions and actually sponsored his home shirt at one point. I know for a fact through a mate of mine that his training is very hard and thorough and that of a full time club. I also know that baz has paid to get players to sign for clyde out of his own pocket! He's an absolute winner!

22 Oct 2016 21:40:45
Bigp you and others like you should give it a rest, with this ebt / sevco/ newco/ 4 year old stuff, its history mate, if we had to fire your clubs history back to yous, in every banter site/ facebook/ twitter site, even posts in newspaper colums, would your lot get fed up reading it? That's a serious question.

22 Oct 2016 22:54:07
Spot on with waghorn. offers nothing wide right no pace no threat and looked pretty heavy at Inverness last Friday. MOH or dodoo is a must wide right.

23 Oct 2016 12:22:12
Supercooper when u right a post about someone we generally know who they are so why the need for their cv before u mention their name? Our former captain rangers legend Barry ferguson. Our manager mark warburton 😩. Turn it up.

21 Oct 2016 14:16:27
No chance of it happening but I'd like to see Tav moved into the midfield 3 for Sunday with Holt and Halliday and bring Hodson in at right back. Hodson gets the cup games and Tav would add more energy to the midfield as well as provide good protection when they attack down that side. Bring Windass in as one of the front three with Miller and McKay IMO, despite the dislike for him on here recently I think he is always likely to create something. With that team we could easily match their high tempo and stifle them in midfield and take control of the game.

21 Oct 2016 15:39:42
We will need to change formation against Celtic. 3 in midfield gives them way too much space, unfortunately Warburton won't change the formation, so we are stuck with our 4-3-3, Holt, Halliday and Windass in midfield, Gilks in goal, back 4 of Tav, Kiernan, Hill and Wallace (I believe Wilson is out for the game? ) upfront should be Miller, Mckay and Waghorn, if waghorn doesn't perform replace him with MOH, he is direct and will cause Tierney trouble all day long.

21 Oct 2016 15:41:12
why play a right back in midfield?

21 Oct 2016 16:12:54
I agree I think should go 4-2-3-1 but he won't do it. 4-4-2 would give them more space as with 3 in midfield they're all central 4-4-2 would only leave 2 in there. As for moving Tav into midfield many players have successfully made that transition. Ricksen done it. Even Bale started out as a left back. I think Tav could do a job in there.

21 Oct 2016 16:38:39
Cee I'm amazed that you believe Tav is a right back. He may play there but his defensive positioning is woeful and his 'attempts' at tracking back from his forays forward are a joke. Also Ricksen was a RB then got moved into midfield and was joint player of the year with Hartson. So maybe not such a crazy idea.

21 Oct 2016 17:55:30
I honestly don't know what cee is watching at times as regards glasgow rangers. This guy doesn't rate kenny miller for god's sake. Even at 37 years old, most of us rangers fans have the same belief that miller is still the best striker at ibrox!

21 Oct 2016 18:57:23
Yeah think tav will eventually move into a midfield role at somepoint in his career but won't be sunday! If fully fit go for rossiter alongside halliday and holt we need to win that battle so we need proper midfielders in ther holt and rossiter are good on the ball and halliday likes a battle.

21 Oct 2016 19:48:56
he's an attacking right back nothing else he's not Fernando ricksen.

22 Oct 2016 07:07:09
Tav for me is a better player than Ricksen ever was if i'm being honest. Its absolutley heartbreaking what's happening to Fernando and my heart breaks for his family but because he's ill i'm not going to harp on about him being a great player as i don't think he was. I await the backlash.

22 Oct 2016 08:00:53
well I thought ricksen was a great player at a time when the overall level of our squad and Scottish football was much higher.

22 Oct 2016 08:03:31
tav isn't exactly Gareth bale is he?

22 Oct 2016 08:56:56
jeeeeezus. The opinions in this thread just made me spit my Buckie all over my cornflakes. Wiiiiit? Tav is better than Ricksen? You buzzing glue mate? Ooooft. Also sick of seeing blind favouritism for McKay. He won't start, which is a good thing. Don't think Waghorn will either, which is a good thing. These lads have had their chance and done absolutely zero for the best part of the season. We've got talent on the bench who are desperate for a chance like McKay and Waghorn have just had. It's time for them to step and show us what they've got. They need a run in the team. Or would you have them rot away into obscurity?

22 Oct 2016 10:26:07
Well imo tavernier is definitely technically a better player than Ricksen was. Ricksen was awful at RB and he was average in midfield. everything abt Tav is better, better going forward, more of a goal threat, makes more assists, granted defencefly he's not great but neither was Fernando. everyone remembers petta the donkey giving him the runaround and getting whipped off after 20 mins.

22 Oct 2016 11:46:18
Naw not for me I'm afraid. Tav still has a lot to prove. Fernando was class. You're allowed to have one or two off games you know. Even Brain Laudrup had a few.

22 Oct 2016 12:02:16
We'll agree to disagree Monty👍.

22 Oct 2016 23:22:53
defensively, Tavernier is no worse than Wallace who is equally suspect defensively. What is more, Wallace is not a leader and that is a major problem since we don't have a proper captain and probably haven't had one for many years!

23 Oct 2016 07:26:02
Got to agree TOMUSA, i'm not a massive fan of Halliday but i think its so important to have him in the team especially on a day like today were we nd abit of leadership and dig. being a bluenose gives him an extra edge in a game like this.

21 Oct 2016 13:51:16
For me Miller and Dodoo have to start on Sunday.

Miller is by far the most intelligent forward we have, plus his experience will be invaluable.

Dodoo has pace, power and bags of ability on the ball. For me he starts over Waggy or McKay.

21 Oct 2016 14:47:55
Miller is not only our most intelligent striker he also has a habit of scoring in important games in a massive Kenny miller fan, I don't think some fans realise how important Kenny is around the place in general.

21 Oct 2016 14:56:06
100% agree delboy.

Miller may be in twilight of his career, but its been some career and he still has quality. IMO he's our best player and its a shame he's not 10 years younger.

He sets an example that all our other players should aim to emulate. A really top pro.

21 Oct 2016 15:45:47
Yip, couldn't have put it better myself delboy9.Kenny miller is a top pro and role model for all our young players at ibrox, the guy's a thoroughbred! CEE and CO TAKE NOTE!

21 Oct 2016 16:31:01
yes good pro descent role model. does that mean he's good enough to be our striker? intelligent as he is he doesn't have the ability to drop deep and play football like he tries to. when he plays through the middle we completely lack a focal point. I like Miller upfront with a partner he's very good but in this system he's a man down.

21 Oct 2016 17:58:49
I just can't understand what your seeing mate. You are totally baffling in your take and comments on kenny miller. But you are entitled to your opinion although i totally disagree with it 100%!

21 Oct 2016 19:11:21
Love kenny miller, as everyone is saying great pro and role model and although I wouldn't play him every match as his pace isn't what it was he is an absolute must in the heat of old firm encounters even more so with our current inexperienced squad! To say he's a man down is laughable he leads our whole team! Not everything comes off for kenny but he keeps at it and gives his lot.

21 Oct 2016 19:50:05
he doesn't lead the team your totally wrong he drops so deep he actually stifles our play and makes our build up so much slower. if he was playing upfront with someone he would be a much better player but up top on his own totally useless and not good enough.

21 Oct 2016 20:58:06
Leads the team by being a leader by being a seasoned professional setting an example to younger guys! i'm not talking about leading the line (which he can do) he is asked to play a system by the boss and he does it! You just don't rate him!

21 Oct 2016 21:00:03
Kenny miller has proved throughout his career that he can lead the line and play up top as lone striker at club an international level! Time and again!

21 Oct 2016 22:18:33
This guy cee is at the madam here, he's got to be! His describing of kenny miller's attributes is the complete opposite to what kenny's attributes are. Nobody can be that far off. This guy is totally at it here. Has to be!

22 Oct 2016 07:10:30
Its all about opinions Bears but some of the stuff on here regarding Kenny Miller, Barry Ferguson etc absolutley puzzles me. i'm just waiting for 1 of the usual suspects to come on and say Laudrup was a diddy 😂.

22 Oct 2016 09:02:03
Miller will probably spend more time in our half than theirs. I want direct, penetrating forwards on, with pace and stamina. Miller is just going to have to sit this one out.

22 Oct 2016 11:24:02
No chance miller will be sitting this 1 out and for the people that harp on abt him dropping back/ coming deep, he's under instructions to do that so it creates space for midfield runners but we've not had enuf of it which leads to miller looking silly when he comes deep and nbody makes a run. it was more evident at the start of the season when Barton and Rossiter were in the team as both seemed to be playing on top of each other with no intention of getting beyond the strikers.

21 Oct 2016 13:17:16
Keep seeing people lineups that they would like to start on Sunday, and I keep seeing waghorn on the wing. Am I missing something? He's a shocking winger, shouldn't be playing unless it's through the middle.

21 Oct 2016 15:12:12
Waghorn wouldn't b in my team either, natural width in mckay and MOH and king kenny through the middle.

21 Oct 2016 14:57:03
I don't think waghorn has made the step up in class, yet. Hopefully he will come good.

22 Oct 2016 09:05:00
I agree with you and McKay is the same. The way people go on about McKay on this forum, I'm surprised they've no erected a statue of him next to John Greig. He's talented for sure but he's done nothing this season to warrant his cult following. Scored against them, aye but so did Bert Konterman and God love the big gentleman but he was a doo.

21 Oct 2016 11:49:00
Hi guys,

I don't see that Garner has brought much to our team YET and I don't think Miller should ever be played out wide. I notice that a lot of people are saying that would be their ideal line up and I am wondering why?
I'd like to know other people's opinions.

21 Oct 2016 12:32:12
miller through the middle all day long mate and I wouldn't have waggy out there either.
moh is fast and would give them something to think about . that being said forrester is good out there with his magic feet.

most important is who plays in the middle as we need pace and hungry players as they will have 5 against our three.
(warbs should change the formation for these games he is being naïve)

21 Oct 2016 12:57:19
Totally agree with him being naive. I don't see anything wrong with his formation against 'lesser' teams but a good manager can adjust everything to play against certain teams and certain formations. Against some teams we have the players to pass them off the part and work a way around them getting goals. But against teams with fast and deadly attacking players he has to change. There is no shame in doing it.

21 Oct 2016 15:00:37
Miller can add a lot by playing wide and dropping deep into midfield.

However asking him to track back for 90 mins is asking a bit much.

Garner was yet another mistake in the recruitment department, can see why he did well at Preston but just don't see what he adds to us- we already had workrate and commitment we needed quality not someone who can just put himself about giving away needless fouls that break up our play.

21 Oct 2016 16:32:08
garners been here 2 minutes and shown more passion than most of the squad combined. but he hasn't scored in every game must be shoit.

21 Oct 2016 18:01:18
Big rob kiernan shows passion but doesn't mean he is the best centre half on our books!

21 Oct 2016 19:51:09
kiernan has been here over a year. and garner is our only striker who actually plays as one maybe the others should take note.

22 Oct 2016 19:07:54
Agree with supercooper, Kiernan is passionate but not good enough.

21 Oct 2016 11:03:38
With Niko out why not bring MacKay into the middle, as I though that was his preferred position. With dodo on left garner through middle and MOH on right. This gives the option of a long ball. With miller coming in at some point when defences legs are starting to go.

21 Oct 2016 12:47:46
because we have loads of midfielders who can play there whereas we don't have a winger anywhere near as good as mckay.

21 Oct 2016 15:24:49
Don't think Wee Barry would cut it against celtic in cm.

I hope with Niko out we play two up to and go 4-4-2 or 4-3-1-2. Think we have players to suit these positions and it would put more pressure on their cbs. Would prefer 4-3-1-2 but we'd need to defend well on the flanks.

21 Oct 2016 15:01:23
Forrester should start in place of Niko, or windass if he's fit.

21 Oct 2016 07:04:05
Just read in the sun kranjcar out for the rest of the season? A hope not! Can anybody on here clarify that? Cause I can't seem to see it anywhere else apart from the sun, so our bad luck this season continues. if this is true.

21 Oct 2016 07:43:55
Just read this myself Colin. Shocking news and a big blow to us without question. What rotten luck for both niko kranjcar and the club as he was reaching full fitness and starting to look the terrifically gifted footballer he undoubtedly is. The sun will have this story regarding his serious injury spot on unfortunately.

21 Oct 2016 07:52:44
Absolutely gutting brings a lot of creativity to the team.

21 Oct 2016 08:51:47
Noooo. We've got absolutely no luck at the moment. Hopefully the Sun is just blowing this out of proportion and it's not his cruciate. Fingers crossed its a lesser injury. Get well soon big man.

On another note, what are we doing wrong in training that so many have been sidelined in training ground incidents since the start of the season? Or is it just bad luck?

21 Oct 2016 09:35:06
coudlny a predicted this, with kranjar we could of competed.

our two highest earners out of the team.

would this money of been better off invested in youth?

hello hello.

21 Oct 2016 10:23:37
The only luck we've had this season with injuries is nae luck. what a blow this is feel so sorry for the guy. Hope the team go out and do it for him on sun.

21 Oct 2016 14:13:21
BlueBloodGerz. The money would have most certainly been better spent on youth. But then again the guys on here would have moaned we hadn't spent it on 'Big players'

21 Oct 2016 14:03:29
Yes, what is it with training?
Must be some kick Wilson took if he's maybe missing again on Sun, never known a team like us to take knocks in training and miss not 1 but 2 games.

21 Oct 2016 14:04:35
This is a huge blow, confirmed also in the Scotsman this morning. Just as Kranjcar was finding fitness and form. Anyway, here's a chance for others to step up. I'd favoured Kranjcar to start on Sunday but now who will play? I still think Holt and Halliday in midfield but who fills the creative void? If fit, surely Rossiter and Windass should start against Celtic?

21 Oct 2016 14:27:16
I think this is the best thing to happen to us purely in relation to the Celtic game as there was a huge decision to be made whether to play him but he is actually too slow and not able for the pace or the mentality of this type of match

Windass has shown last game he is exactly the type for this match

Sad for Niko happy we now might have by default our perfect 11 excepting Wilson out in defence but people should realise that Kiernan was excellent in the last Cup semi not the best defender but he is a Ranger we should support him

Fod

Tav Hill Kiernan Wallace

Halliday

Holt Windass

McKay

Dodoo Miller

Would like MOH in side but he seems out of favour at moment

2-1 us if we fight like last cup semi

3-2 to them if we don't.

21 Oct 2016 15:22:12
I doubt it's anything to do with training. We were extremely fortunate last yeah with a small squad as we had very few injuries. Just bad luck by the sound of it. Hopefully not as bad as it first appears.

21 Oct 2016 15:06:06
Ive said repeatedly said that we made a massive mistake in summer.

Instead of spreading our money on 11 players we should have been working to a 2-3 season plan. This plan should have been to add young players of real quality piece by piece to build a team.

In the summer we should have spent the little money we had on bringing in 1 striker, 1 midfielder and 1 defender all of proper quality to enhance what we had not change it.

Over the following Windows we should have looked to add players that improved the team not beef up the squad.

21 Oct 2016 19:18:50
I think we have a great young team with loads of potential that we can build on! We have came on miles in last couple of years and if the majority of squad stays together and ws get things progressing off the field then we can challenge celtic in a year or so.
