As much as last night's performance was better, and the team showed more fight, the cold hard facts don't lie. CL - played 2, lost 2, for 0, against 7. It's not pretty viewing, is it? Throw these results in with the pumping at the midden, and whatever way some want to spin it, it's really bad.
When is the last time we went 3 straight games without a win? When is the last time we conceded 11 goals in such a short space of time without even scoring 1 goal? This is not good enough! We're a joke, and whether some want to disagree with this, it's true. The team are a shambles and in big trouble, and If I'm being honest, I don't see it getting any better. There is something horribly wrong at our club, and it is very worrying.
Last night Gio started with a full team of players from the Gerrard era. Not one of his signings (that's a joke) were in the starting 11. Why? Was it a message to RW (the biggest charlatan of them all), that he doesn't rate, or want the players he signed? Was that starting 11 the sign of a manager devoid of all ideas, so resorts to desperation? It's a total farce!
Look, I know some will react as spme do and come out swinging at this post, but even the most blinkered supporter can't excuse this? And if they do, they really need to wake up.
So come Saturday, we'll probably beat D Utd by a couple of goals, and the usual suspects will be on crowing about how we're back, and how we've finally figured out how to break teams down blah blah blah. But, the stark reality is, D Utd are dug meat, with no wins in the league, who have been absolutely destroyed by the tims, and in Europe (sound familiar), and are rock bottom of the league. If that is our, benchmark, then God in Heaven help us.

Two things I can't get my head around.
1. How can we be so strong in Europe, but woeful in the league? Even in games we have won, we have been so slow, predictable, and uninspiring in league games, especially away from home. This is the bloody SPL we're talking about not La Liga.
2. How have we went from dominating them, especially the last 18 months of Gerrard's tenure, to being absolutely schooled by them since Gio came in? The SC semi being the exception. As I pointed out earlier Gio has played them 5 times, lost 3, won 1 and drawn 1. 11 goals against, 4 goals for, and never won a game over the 90 minutes. That's pathetic. We have regressed something rotten against them and it's no coincidence it's since Gio took over. If he hasn't learned how to play them after nearly a year, and in 5 games, will he ever learn? We were warned by Feynoord fans, Dutch journalists, and football analysts, that he never deviates from the way he wants football played. Well he needs to start as his record against them is abysmal. You might not like it, but it glaringly true.

True but there are no many managers who would rather lose their job than change how they think football should be played. Been pumped 2 out 3 games at their place. Not good enough. Celtic are an exciting team (pain's me to say) and we are like watching paint dry.

2.) 03 Sep 2022 20:20:11
We will see how good we are in the upcoming games in the Champions League. Somehow, I am not overly confident.

3.) 03 sep 2022 20:25:27
theyre manager decided they don't need great defenders, in spl. so he signs great attacking types, our manager doesnt.

4.) 03 Sep 2022 20:42:25
I agree I sit there on a sat and watch a ball getting played acros the back line then back across the back line then to the keeper the it’s repeated, there is no flair no pace no attacking just look at their goal difference compared to ours yes it may work in Europe but that’s a bonus it’s the league here I want to win and already they are way out in front, I’m truely sickened I’m a seventy year old man who has attended old firm games than I care to remember but under Gio it’s been terrible to watch, I knew we would have a hard game today but never did I think we would play like that, almost a carbon copy of our last away trip there and if as he probably will go again and try to contain them and allow them the freedom to attack we’ll get pumped again sorry for the doom and gloom but we at least had an excuse before no money but surely our recruitment could be better not one player since Gio came in has set the heather alight or maybe I’m wrong and someone can enlighten me.

5.) 03 Sep 2022 21:05:43
Hate to say it but there defenders are better than ours.

6.) 03 Sep 2022 21:29:22
True Tom But we haven’t signed great defenders either unfortunately ?.

7.) 03 Sep 2022 21:41:05
Only defenders you tell me how many of our players would get in there team our recruitment over the last three windows has been terrible and it gives me no pleasure to say that.

8.) 03 Sep 2022 21:53:46
Bassey, their whole team is better than ours - not just the defenders.

They were never red cards, and Collum needs carpeted, but we can't paper over the cracks.
I said it would be a tough one through there, and with a referee in charge who looks for any excuse, that was never going to be easy.
That performance was shocking today, and our defence is all over the place. What is going on? Again, giving away cheap possession which resulted in us putting pressure on our players to make rash challenges. It's schoolboy stuff! Very poor throughout, with maybe Sands getting passmarks, but that's it.
I'm a positive supporter, who believes we can win every game, but If we don't get our act together, we are humped on Thursday.
Someone on here said If we go out of CL then not the end of the world as the league is our No1 priority. We'll, keep playing the way we have in most of our games this season, and that might not work out.
No excuses now of Gio not having his own players and that ship has sailed. He needs to sort it now? If any player doesn't want to be here, ship them out now. This is his team now, the board has backed him, so he needs to sort out whatever is going on.
This is a shadow of a the team that got to the EC final, and If it's not sorted fast, then I dread to think what will happen.
It's early days, we have the players, so time for Gio to step up and sort this. I'm sure he will, but it needs to be done now.

What can gio do if 2 played get reds maybe you could do better since your names gaffer.

2.) 20 Aug 2022 15:15:03
You say we have the players but we need a keeper if we sell Alfie we only have Colak and if we punt Kent do u rely on rabbi. I agree with posts on punting 2 not signed but we have problems maybe gio didn't see until we started away at livvie.

3.) 20 Aug 2022 15:15:36
Alfie’s was a red. Unbelievably immature from him and cost us the points just as much as the ref did with lundstrams.

We looked passive from the outset. Sands and barasic were ok today but nobody else looked on form. Worrying but hardly the crisis it’s sounding on this forum.

4.) 20 Aug 2022 15:22:59
Now now Bassey, that's a very petulant reply. ??.

5.) 20 Aug 2022 15:36:18
Like it or not were up against a good Celtic team who won't drop many points so dropping points away at a depleted hibs after leading twice isn't good enough. Lawrence and Colak poss Tillman are only signings you'd give passmark whilst evry1 they sign seems to settle well.

6.) 20 Aug 2022 15:47:42
Lundstrum never a red but why did he make the challenge when there were 2 defenders and a mile of pitch left to recover - poor decision making from player and ref.

Alfie was a red all day - his stupid grimace says that he has thrown his toys out of the pram because Roy Mackay thinks he should work harder.

Yet again the experts who know better than our manager clambering for McLaughlin (read new Tav) when he did nothing wrong - he had no chance with either goal.

7.) 20 Aug 2022 16:22:10
Does any one actually think Connor Goldson is classed as a good Central Defender. I never rated him last season and was quite pleased he was moving on as we had replaced him with a Scottish international. Gio messed up and gave him a new contract because no team fancied him when he was trying to leave Rangers thinking he was a better player than he is. He is the problem why Rangers have very few attacking options from the back. He has very poor distribution skills. Wins very few headers out from the back. Very poor control skills. Only 50-50 tackle wins and demands side passes from better players because he knows best. He is a waste of space and has already dragged Borasic and Tavernier down to be as poor as himself. We don't need him anymore. Of course only my humble opinion.

8.) 20 Aug 2022 17:27:02
Connor Goldson has been absolutely dross this season.

"Extremely well"?! Oh dear! ?? We were playing the worst team in the league, with no wins, and who have been pumped left right and centre, and you're on here defending them. And you have actually made an excuse for them running out of steam? FGS, there's being blinkered, then there's this.
"Cut them some slack"? Aye, that's exactly what this bunch need. ???.

You never sat back coldo. If you're honest with yourself (that's a laugh), you were one of the main antagonists on here calling for Gerrard's head not long into his tenure.
The difference between Gerrard and Gio in the league, is that Gerrard had the tims number from early on, whereas, Gio doesn't, and doesn't look as If he ever will.
Gio done amazingly well getting us to the EL final, and delivering the SC (both with Gerrard's squad), but he blew a big lead in the league by continuing to play the wrong team, and deploying the wrong tactics, and so far this season, he still hasn't got it right.
Gio is never going to get the same time as Gerrard. Gio will either walk soon, or he'll be told to go. I don't want it, and even though he's made many mistakes in the league, he has been let down with recruitment, and certain players playing with their head up their arses, or not being good enough. 2 of them you are a very vocal fanboy of. If you think Kent is cutting it, or Arfield is good enough to start every game, then you know very little.

Blutoon, it happens all the time. Mangers are lauded as the best thing ever, but it can go bad at anytime. It's happened to much better managers than Gio. And at Rangers, it's happened to much bigger legends than him too.
This excuse we have no devine right to beat anyone, in theory is correct, but when a team packed with players, some costing more than the poorest of oppositions whole squad, are struggling against them, then fans have every right to criticise. If you want to stay silent, feel free, but the majority will never sit back and take this crap.

If the board did sack Gio (emphasis on If), and replace him with anyone the calibre of Davidson, then we are in big trouble. Davidson done amazingly well winning 2 cups, but is there anyone on here who thinks this could work? If (and it's a big If) these stories are true, the board are playing a dangerous game.
In the past, during the dark days, and before Gerrard, fans would have accepted this as we were a basket case of a club, and we would have tried anything (we did), but not now. From winning the league, the final of the EL, to sacking Gio, to appointing Davidson, there's no way the majority of fans will accept this. Some will (we know who will on here), but the vast majority won't. If the board want to alienate fans more, then this is what will do it. As long as Park Jnr, with the backing of his father, remains on our board, then anything is possible. When that fud brought in that useless lump of skin and bones Pedro, that should have sounded his own death knell, and when the Portuguese plonker went, Park Jnr should have went too.

I always say a win is the most important, but the performance was dire. We were playing at home, against a team who are dug meat, rooted rock bottom of the league, who have been hammered more times than Lana Wolf, and for a lot of the game, it was a painful watch. The only positives was Colak, and seeing the 2 young lads start, and that was it.

Whether some want to admit it, or not, we are a poor team just now, and I am struggling to see how we can fix this. Gio looks lost on the sidelines, and very withdrawn. It's as If he's going through the motions. Just like a number of the players. I really hope he can sort this, but I think we're seeing the beginning of the end of him. Whether it's himself who'll make that decision, or the board, I feel that something is going to happen.

I'm not here to demand Gio's head as I really want him to succeed, but something is not right. I believe he's been let down badly by RW, and some on the board, but he has his own shortcomings, and the buck stops with him for performances on the park. He pucks the team, sets them up to play his way, chooses tactics, and decides who comes off, and who replaces them, and If we're being honest, it's all a bit sh£%e all round. What a downer! And before anyone starts, I know we won, but cards in the table here, is anyone confident of winning anything this season? I really was, but I'm not now.
