Former Rangers manager Walter Smith says it is hard to judge Ally McCoist as a manager because of the turmoil that existed while he was in charge at Ibrox, and believes McCoist deserves a chance to show what he can do at a stable club.

Aye, very good Walter, have you considered a career as a stand up?

Blue Velvet

1.) 23 Apr 2015 17:32:39
Agree mate,3 years with a budget twenty times that of your opponents combined is nowhere near long enough to be judged on. geez a break Wattie. he was your pupil,we know, but he was murder, and you should just keep your own counsel. can't see Ally getting another manager's job. certainly not one that pays 800k a year!

2.) 23 Apr 2015 17:48:07
Have you considered supporting another team?

3.) 23 Apr 2015 18:37:22
i am afraid allys managerial skills are at the wrong end of one to ten possibly even going into minus figures mind u walter really cannae say anything else

4.) 23 Apr 2015 19:38:35
Jyf,

Do me a favour.

Perhaps you could make up a double act.

5.) 23 Apr 2015 20:15:19
What does Walter Smith know about management lol?

6.) 24 Apr 2015 16:07:09
Who would ever employ McCoist as a manager?! he had his chance and turned us over, he is a terrible manager but worse than that you can't believe a word he says. He is where he deserves to be, in the wilderness unfortunately he is there with several million pounds of Rangers money. Good riddance to bad rubbish!

7.) 24 Apr 2015 16:58:55
Let him go to a stable club, one with horses in it,at least he'll have plenty a manure for his flowers.

8.) 24 Apr 2015 23:45:31

"And I can assure everybody I am 100% committed and focused for the remainder of my contract.
"The Rangers fans would expect nothing less than that. "

Naw Ally, what the Rangers fans expect is a Manager who knows what the feck he us doing. Not a totally inept, tactically unaware, overpaid manager who is playing the worst football I have ever witnessed from a Rangers team in 45 years, who continually plays players out of position, who will not give some of the younger guys an opportunity but would rather put them out on loan or sell them off on the cheap only for them to pick up awards a few weeks later, who asks the National team Manager for our player back from his first call up because we had a game against Alloa (no disrespect, but how embarrassing), who takes in some of his old mates for a last pay day to help him out and allows them to be paid much much more than they are worth or the club can afford. Need any more?

If ally knew or was at all interested in what the majority of Rangers fans expect then he would have walked away long before now.

Rant over, but I am fed up with all his patronising bulls**t.

Blue Velvet

1.) Which of his "old mates " would you not have signed and why?

2.) @1, did I really read your question correctly?. You're havin' a laugh right?

"Telfer recently won the SPFL young player of the month award. "

Not so long ago the pro ally brigade were on here saying Telfer was no use that's why he didn't get a game and he would be warming the bench at Dundee Utd blah, blah, blah.

Humble Pie on the menu?

Ally wouldn't know the next Messi if he was under his nose.

Blue Velvet

1.) Spot on mate. This is just another example of how inept the manager is and we will live to regret this when Dundee Utd sell him on for far more than the £200k we got. Another missed opportunity and another promising prospect leaves the club.

2.) Player who was offered a deal and moved away wins award. Ally hater uses this as a point to bash Ally harder. Oh how proud must you be?

3.) @2) Try seeing more than just the side of the story that suits your own point of view.
Maybe if Ally had played Telfer more often or given some reassurance that he was part of future plans, he might not have wanted away.

4.) @2 jonnostb. Ask yourself why he left.

Matey, I have more personally signed pics of ally when he was a player than you are ever likely to have so for your information I am not an ally hater. I do however think he is the worst Rangers manager I have seen in 45 years supporting the club.

5.) @2 jonnostb, I also meant to say, I will treat the last comment on your post with the contempt it deserves.

6.) 11 Dec 2014 16:05:44
Im an ally despiser and every single thing he fcuks up with SHOULD be highlighted till he is sacked he is so self deluded he will never quit. george

"Rangers manager Ally McCoist is to seek an agreement with Scotland manager Gordon Strachan that in-form midfielder Lewis Macleod can be "loaned" back to his club from the national squad preparing for matches against the Republic of Ireland and England so that he can play against Alloa in the Championship next Saturday"

Seriously!

If this is factual then it has to be up there as one of the most embarrassing moments of his tenure!

Speechless.

Blue Velvet

1.) Yes Blue Velvet it seems incredulous. The man has not got a clue, I could go on and on about his actions but this, together with his 'war of words' with Craig Gordon speaks volumes. The man is not fit to manage our club.

2.) 09 Nov 2014 13:54:58
Billyb: Agreed the man is a balloon, but do you believe he offered Gordon a deal?

3.) Blue velvet, billyb and gkk its actually you three that are the embarrassment not Ally. He is asking that we are allowed to play our best player and one of the best players in Scotland in a league match in front of of a big Ibrox crowd. what's wrong with that if Lewis doesn't play on the Friday night? I bet you sit at home hoping that we lose so as you can come on here and have a dig at our manager, get a life!

4.) Jyf, I'm afraid, like most of your posts, you don't understand what the manager's game is. He says he'll keep Lewis MacLeod's feet on the ground but now we can't play without him. So what affect does that have on our other players. MacLeod is a great prospect but he is not a one man team. One of the tactics McCoist knows is ''cover your butt. ''

5.) OK billb, from a fans point of view who goes to the games, I want to see Lewis play for Rangers as opposed to sitting on the bench, at best, for Scotland and then being unavailable due to a stupid meaningless friendly on Tuesday night. I don't know what the managers game is, What ? He wants his best player playing for his (our) team, whos the balloon here ?

6.) 09 Nov 2014 15:33:01
I can see for and against as it upsets the flow of the player, but if there is a chance of him playing against Alloa even though we shouldn't need him, then why not ask, given he is so important to us.

7.) 09 Nov 2014 15:37:55
Jyf : I never mentioned McCleod, big Ibrox crowds or anything else your wafflin about, but I was at Ibrox yesterday in the p****n rain hoping we'd lose???I asked billyb if he thought Ally offered Gordon a deal,in his opinion.

8.) 09 Nov 2014 16:09:07
The manager cannot offer him a deal he can recommend the board offer him a deal and I believe ally said he believed a deal was put in front of him, when he was asked the question.
r. f

9.) 09 Nov 2014 16:09:55
Jyf: I also want to see him play for us rather than warm the bench for Scotland. Its just the way McCoist conducts himself I have a problem with. He's going cap in hand to Strachan, when we should be blowing Alloa away,McCleod or not.

10.) @7 you called our manager a balloon. Why ?

11.) 09 Nov 2014 16:51:04
Eh. That's because I think he's a balloon.

{Ed039's Note - Thats as good an answer as any I suppose)

12.) @11 it didn't answer the question though.

{Ed039's Note - Probably too polite, perhaps if you replace "balloon" with a random swear word it might be more obvious what is being said)

13.) 09 Nov 2014 17:42:59
Ally mc is a balloon and a burst one at that.

14.) Lets get back to the original point our manager is being slagged off for trying to get our best player playing for OUR club next Saturday, who are the balloons here?

{Ed039's Note - I understand the point mate, you asked the question)

15.) Jyf, I have a life, a very nice one at that thank you very much.

Just you keep on supporting the worst, most inept Ranger's manager I have seen in 45 years of supporting Rangers. I, however, will chose to be honest and express my opinion when and how I chose.

I'm sure Killie and Celtic and shaking in their shoes now that ally has basically made it public that he has so little faith in his squad that he doesn't think they are good enough to take on the mighty Alloa, no disrespect, without Lewis MacLeod!

Astonishing.

16.) 09 Nov 2014 19:41:52
Well said Blue Velvet, you, me and even jyf, if given the nod should be able to step into young mccleods boots for the day and hols off the might of alloa, i'm sure fans from all over who still travel for games will also be made up the game is still on Saturday instead of something like a Tuesday night Xmas week.

{Ed039's Note - Thats a little disrespectful to the Alloa players who have punched above their weight the last few seasons but we get what you mean)

17.) Your right ed, I did mean to say no disrespect to ALLOA, and fair play to them not feeling sorry for us and asking the sfa to postpone due to us not being able to field our best? 11.

18.) Gkk@2] No, I do not think a deal was on the table. Gordon's response speaks volumes as far as I am concerned. To Jyf, even Mr Beltrami could not defend McCoist's actions.

19.) JYF is ally's agent.

20.) @19no not Ally's agent just a Rangers fan, tell me this what would your preference be, 1. McLeod sits on the bench and does not play a game this weekend 2. If not played for Scotland he plays for us 3. Gers game called off or 4. None of the above, me I want to see him play for Scotland but I don't think that will happen this weekend so I want to see him play for us is that really wrong? And I suspect Ally sees it that way too.

21.) First time poster

Reading the above post i feel young Lewis has a bright future at our club and don't think he will go till next summer, but if he was to go i would say 3 million for him as young ryan gauld went for 5-6 mill and i feel lewis is the same kind of value but going but us being a championship team i fell 3 million would be fair if a clubs selling there best player excluding only wallace.

with this i could only say would bring in a good young striker as i see this as boyds last season maybe miller for another year but bring in young callum g currently on loan at cowden for next season and a new right back as don't rate foster but has been playing good of late could do with some cover there would also say new center back as see big jig hangin up his boots at the end of the season but have big zal who can do a job and young boys for cover,

whats my fello bears thoughts ??

22.) Mandy93:I thought Gauld went for about 3 million ? Is the 5-6 million including his wages etc ?

23.) @20 jyf. I don't think you are ally's agent, I think you are ally as you seem to have the same grip on reality as he does. 1) on his first Scotland call up, you want Lewis MacLeod to tell Gordon Strachan "I'm only coming if I'm getting a game". 2) going by your theory, Gordon Strachan will have an 11 man squad.

Genius

24.) Your OP said you were speechless, I wish, who said anything about McLeod saying anything to starchan? Ally asked that if he doesn't feature on Friday we be able to play him on Sat, we all hope he gets his first cap but he won't get that unless he plays and we will know whither
he played or not by the time we kick off on Sat if he did not play then why not let him play against Alloa

25.) Gkk: yes sorry ment between 2-3 million
lack of sleep on my part but i still fell that valuation of the lad isn't far off the kind of money we should be holing out for Mcleod

26.) 11 Nov 2014 23:53:03
Mandy93 I'll go with that,2 mill anyway.

According to reports in the press, "Rangers have told Dundee United they want at least £200,000 for Charlie Telfer"

An ally supporter recently used the word "Disgraceful" to describe comments made about his tenure as manager. Charlie Telfer and the likes should be the future of Rangers, selling him for this sort of money, in fact, selling him at all is what I would describe as Disgraceful.

Blue Velvet

1.) They offered 50k & Rangers want 100k so it's worse than you thought. The lad just wants 1st team football whether he will get that at United is yet to be seen but we know he won't get it at Ibrox. So who can honestly blame the lad for wanting to leave.

2.) Can't blame him at all for wanting to play regular first team football. If he does get sold I hope ally has a right good look in the mirror, if he can.

Absolute disgrace that, given the level we have been playing at for the last two years, these lads have not had an opportunity to step up.

3.) I agree BV it's shocking I've said all along a bad board or not better coaching staff can make for a better future for the club.

4.) 01 Jun 2014 18:55:54
Op - is telfer not out of contract? he has been made an offer by Rangers and United, so its up to him where he will play next season

If its utd then there will be no transfer fee, only compen

If he wants to stay he will stay, if he waqnts to go he will go

good luck to the boy either way

JG

5.) For some reason they did not offer the boy a new contract what's the logic on that what's the man who only does football answer to that probably same reason they did not sign robertson from queens park last season

6.) Telfer will be at dundee united next year I put this on weeks ago.

7.) 02 Jun 2014 09:11:11
It's a sad day when a promising youngster who supports the club has to leave to find first team football. Another example of why young players don't feel they can progress under the current manager.

8.) Dundee United understands business and does it well. Good luck to the youngster and hope he shines there.

9.) 02 Jun 2014 12:59:18
According to the interview a paper did with young telfer last week the boy was quoted as saying he has offers from both clubs and would make his decision soon .
r.f

10.) Mccoist is trying to get wage bill down to allow him to bring in his own pals its as simple as that muckers mates pals he liked the american accent so offered a garage attendent a roll centre mid

Noddy, couldn't agree more with your post.

Utterly disgraceful and shameful actions by celtic and sfa.

I wonder if they also asked for an explanation as to why their substitute keeper wasn't sent off for taking the Inverness lad out in their letter! Oh yeah, that doesn't matter
