Porteous potentially going to the States for £1m. The kind of guy I think we could do having around to round out the squad (including being home grown) . Think it's good to have a bit of kind of personality around the club myself. Know many funny like him though and can't see it happening.

He'd be a cracking player for us I rate him very highly.
For me he's not kicked on since first leaving hibs he played well for Watford for a while the must've dropped out of favour as he's constantly linked away.
He'd be ideal for us as a back up especially in Scotland.

Beale I do rate souttar mate think he's a good player, certainly if he was any better he'd have been bought by a club in a bigger league or better financial position than us.
Souttar is a good player, but he loses a lot of goals in the air per season for me, unfortunately that's the level were kind of at these days.
In terms of porteous for me he's a better defender but souttar better with the ball.

In fact Beale I think they'd be a very good partnership for Scottish level games but would be found out in Europe no doubt as we probably will anyway this season regardless of who we pair at centre back.

I rate big John highly, tough, and no fear. porteous would do a job but I don't somehow feel he would be RM's cuppa tea . but as usual you never know. but he does know the spl and some of those tricky away games he would be an asset.

Beale I agree mate. However we need to have players like souttar as back up not first choice we need to aim for better if we are to overtake Celtic and compete in Europe. For me goldson was better than souttar ever will be and plenty slates him in here.

Big john souttar i've always liked and is a good centre half and i hope he signs a new contract to stay with Rangers ?I honestly think ryan porteous could be a good signing for us but i also think we can get better and for the record imo souttar is better than porteous ?.

Porteous was average at best before he left hibs, hasn't kicked on since and is a liability on and off the park, he can do one, nowhere near good enough even as a squad player.

I do rate souttar mate. I just noticed that he gives away 4-6 goals a season form cross balls in the air either directly or 2nd phase caused by his aerial mistakes and aftet noticing it I seen it pointed out on telly and highlighted so it has stuck woth me when discussing souttar I always mention this. Probably where u got it from mate.
He's probably Scotlands best CH tbf. But I like big porteous I really do.

How many does he block? Well that's his job mate first and foremost before this passing nonsense that's became a thing in modern football. Go watch coals conceded in each season souttar has played with us and you'll see for yourself.
It wouldn't be hard to be scotlands best defender they're all pretty average at best if we're all being serious.
It's a very big weakness in his game is defending when the balls crossed in via whatever means.
That's not good enough.

My Star, a good CB doesn't need to go to ground to block. Soutts is a good CB but positionally he's a lot to learn. I like him but last gasp clearance type CBs give me the fear. He's good on the ball btw but in quick transitions where we lose possession he's average.
