Just reading some of the usual transfer rumours and thinking, how did it get to the stage that Dominic Solanke was being rumoured to being sold for £65m, what 5-6 seasons of transfers budget for us on an average player?
The catch up we have to do to catch Celtic financially is one thing, we’ll still be miles off it outside of Scotland.
Sickening to see just how far behind we are financially. We need fans to start being more patient and accept where we are as a club, not with domestic success but with player recruitment. We go spend £4m on player, we need it to work or give time for it to work enough. Not 3 games and we want rid and another player brought in. Happened so many times last year, Dessers, Danilo, Lammers, Sima and so on.

Fans don’t scout and buy the player, it’s the club.
Unfortunately we have got a fair few of the big outlays wrong, also Scottish football needs adapted to for some players.

Also Sollof, the manager was in the door and very quickly moved on Lammers and Cifuentes, he saw enough to probably tell them that they weren’t going to feature in the first 11.
Then it becomes best way forward for the club and player.

We will never catch up with epl or other of the top 4/ 5 countries in Europe mate.
I’ll settle for catching up with them which won’t be easy money wise.

It won’t be easy storm, and they have had more failures than us in the market over last wee while, difference is they can afford mistakes, we can’t. This window and next is huge for our club.

Lammers only seems to play well in holland. His CV will tell you that. Terrible in Scotland, Germany and Italy.

Unfortunately, we play in a substandard league that has no mass audience and poor sponsorship.
We have no sugar daddy that is willing to pump money in for no return.

Yes agree the league level is poor but wasn’t it poor pre going down? Totally agree, never catch top leagues but Dutch def, Turkish def, Belgian probably all out of reach at this point. We’re struggling to compete with the levels in Czech at this stage.

And there is the case for any self respecting young lad from Scotland to play his trade down south, even for championship teams they still have a better chance of setting themselves up for life and an outside chance of step up to EPL.
Boys walking over coals to play for us (or them) are very rare nowadays.

I think TT1212 has it in one. Tottenham paid £65m for a player who has hardly played. £120k/ week and they are paying him off to get him out the door and so it happens. It hasn't happened so much with us.
