Does any of our members with inside knowledge have any details of the Cortes deal? I’m interested in the value but probably more on the sell on percentage we’ve agreed.

1.) 03 Jun 2024 13:42:30
From what i have been told 500k loan fee 3.5mil obligation to buy and 10% selll on.

2.) 03 Jun 2024 13:52:47
i think it's 4 mill not sure about sell on though.

3.) 03 Jun 2024 15:28:34
Cheers AC… I get it’s a fine balance with what we can afford to pay up front and how much we need to protect from giving away large % of sell on, never too happy with giving away sell ons but when we’re strapped for cash, sometimes it’s essential to getting the players in.

4.) 03 Jun 2024 19:53:56
Closer to £500k loan fee and £2.5m next summer with large sell on fee %.

5.) 04 Jun 2024 15:25:22
Hopefully that’s more accurate bornabear 4 million would be rangers doing bad business again don’t get me wrong I liked the look of Cortes but! When you break it down is 7 games enough to really judge a player he scored 1 goal and might have just hit a patch of form

He has 1 year less on contract
loan never really went well
Serious injury
Are there any other parties willing to pay that money I doubt it

I get it though he made our other winger look timid with his direct play but not many minutes played in most of those 7 games either

Are we getting over hype because best performance was in second last game vs hearts goal and assist

What I’m saying is this is all point ranger should have used to try downplay fee

If they were to pay the full price his club paid then surely it should be based on his appearances for rangers.

Hi guys

What’s the latest with injuries and expected returns?

1.) 25 Sep 2023 16:45:59
Cantwell, Raskin, Lawrence apparently back after international break, Matondo might be out for a few weeks more.

2.) 25 Sep 2023 17:21:59
is Ridvan injured?

3.) 25 Sep 2023 17:45:48
Judging by the M/ well game I think Barasic may have concussion and a strained bra strap.

4.) 25 Sep 2023 17:52:01
Ridvan is fit.

5.) 25 Sep 2023 17:58:26
Ridvan was on the bench yesterday . I wouldn`t bet on those players being back after the international break, we`ve heard these optimistic return dates before.

6.) 25 Sep 2023 18:19:09
Time to recall devine boy has never let us down.

7.) 25 Sep 2023 19:00:13
Devine is pish he played about 3 games and looked average but apparently never let us down ? he done nothing lol let him go on loan to actually play and improve. These average young boys aren’t going to win us the league they couldn’t win the highland league but as usual we make them out great players because they come threw the academy.

8.) 25 Sep 2023 19:00:33
Recall Devine from we’re he’s no out on loan.

9.) 25 Sep 2023 19:44:04
He meant recall Devine to the team. He played 4 games out of position at left back and was good . I seem to remember him getting at least one MOTM vote. If we are getting rid of people for playing pish in 3 games then a lot of the current squad would be gone including Raskin who hasn`t kicked a ball all season . Because he was bought we are supposed to give him time that we don`t give our own boys.

10.) 25 Sep 2023 20:05:16
I can confirm Barasic has a groin bruise from the Motherwell game. Out for 2 weeks.

11.) 25 Sep 2023 20:17:31
Raskin, seriously? That’s one of the worst tales I’ve seen. 3 appearances, 2 MOTM. A young lad, but you’ve branded him ‘pish’. We don’t need ‘fans’ like you.

12.) 25 Sep 2023 21:49:56
Don’t like full backs playing on the wrong side. They always have a tendency then to come inside on their main foot. This then eliminates who ever is on the outside, OH, wait a minute WE HAVE NO WINGERS.

13.) 25 Sep 2023 23:02:46
Devine is not the level we need at the moment.

14.) 25 Sep 2023 20:56:09
The comment was utter pish.

15.) 25 Sep 2023 20:56:10
Devine looked a cracking player when he played.
I liked the look of him.
Would be good to see him play at rb for say 5 games in a row at someooint this season.
He’s definitely not pish that’s for sure.

16.) 25 Sep 2023 21:23:15
West of Scotland….
Gies a swally o that Buckie ally
That boy is pish.

17.) 26 Sep 2023 02:39:33
Like Devine also, was positive in possession, showed great positional awareness and wasn't afraid of a tackle or two. Also, as Borna gets it tight when he's not at it, credit where it's due. Thought he had a good game verses Motherwell, overcooked a couple of crosses but did a power of running and put his body on the line for a fair few tackles. thought it was brave performance.

18.) 26 Sep 2023 03:40:25
He’s by no means p##h just not ready for regular first team football at rangers imo.

19.) 26 Sep 2023 08:55:23
cheers Souness.

I assume not even a rough date for Danilo yet?

20.) 26 Sep 2023 11:27:18
Danilo is to be back on training pitch within a few weeks
I’d expect him back playing after international break.

21.) 26 Sep 2023 12:50:59
One of the things that impressed me with Devine playing on the wrong side was that he was prepared to go wide, not just cut back on his right foot . He put in some decent balls though maybe not to Barisics standard . I hope the boy has been putting in some real practice on his left foot because being able to play both sides would be a big asset.

22.) 26 Sep 2023 14:12:42
Souness manager saying today minimum of eight weeks re matondo.

So next euro tie no
Yilmas dowell Balogun raskin cantwell Danilo matondo lawrence

Also worry manager said Jack roofe sima carrying injuries.

23.) 26 Sep 2023 15:12:47
Last time I looked it was a cup game ?

Not a league game

Also players injured no left side winger so could push yilmaz forward

And is barasic not carrying an injury?

Is barasic not injured? Someone told me he had picked up a knock?

24.) 26 Sep 2023 15:14:10
Also we never lost a game that devine played and you brand him pish

25.) 26 Sep 2023 15:15:19
Yilmas injured John? Maybe that's who person I was talking to was thinking and not barasic.

26.) 26 Sep 2023 15:16:40
Devine is not the level we need at the moment ??

The type of comment that means ranger will develope no youth player ever again

Can't develope if don't play.

Just reading some of the usual transfer rumours and thinking, how did it get to the stage that Dominic Solanke was being rumoured to being sold for £65m, what 5-6 seasons of transfers budget for us on an average player?

The catch up we have to do to catch Celtic financially is one thing, we’ll still be miles off it outside of Scotland.

Sickening to see just how far behind we are financially. We need fans to start being more patient and accept where we are as a club, not with domestic success but with player recruitment. We go spend £4m on player, we need it to work or give time for it to work enough. Not 3 games and we want rid and another player brought in. Happened so many times last year, Dessers, Danilo, Lammers, Sima and so on.

1.) 09 Jun 2024 09:49:13
Fans don’t scout and buy the player, it’s the club.
Unfortunately we have got a fair few of the big outlays wrong, also Scottish football needs adapted to for some players.

2.) 09 Jun 2024 09:59:44
Also Sollof, the manager was in the door and very quickly moved on Lammers and Cifuentes, he saw enough to probably tell them that they weren’t going to feature in the first 11.
Then it becomes best way forward for the club and player.

3.) 09 Jun 2024 10:15:50
We will never catch up with epl or other of the top 4/ 5 countries in Europe mate.
I’ll settle for catching up with them which won’t be easy money wise.
We need to qualify for champs league to start with this coming season.

4.) 09 jun 2024 10:18:33
no, what we need is the buying dept to bring in winners, fit, strong competitors, that's what will change our fortunes.

5.) 09 Jun 2024 10:30:18
It won’t be easy storm, and they have had more failures than us in the market over last wee while, difference is they can afford mistakes, we can’t. This window and next is huge for our club.

6.) 09 Jun 2024 10:32:25
Tell me if I'm wrong here guys but didn't spfl (spl) go a few years without any sponsor a while back and they are still in charge to this day.

7.) 09 Jun 2024 10:59:52
Lammers only seems to play well in holland. His CV will tell you that. Terrible in Scotland, Germany and Italy.

8.) 09 Jun 2024 11:49:39
Unfortunately, we play in a substandard league that has no mass audience and poor sponsorship.
We have no sugar daddy that is willing to pump money in for no return.

9.) 09 Jun 2024 12:34:49
Yes agree the league level is poor but wasn’t it poor pre going down? Totally agree, never catch top leagues but Dutch def, Turkish def, Belgian probably all out of reach at this point. We’re struggling to compete with the levels in Czech at this stage.

10.) 09 Jun 2024 12:46:06
And there is the case for any self respecting young lad from Scotland to play his trade down south, even for championship teams they still have a better chance of setting themselves up for life and an outside chance of step up to EPL.
Boys walking over coals to play for us (or them) are very rare nowadays.

11.) 09 Jun 2024 12:57:00
It’s telling the Norwich can beat us to a player .

12.) 09 Jun 2024 13:19:41
Not Norwich vs Rangers gvb it's the league we play.

13.) 09 Jun 2024 13:32:45
Of course it is my star.

14.) 09 Jun 2024 15:00:49
Those in charge of SPFL/ SFA don't fecking help.

15.) 09 Jun 2024 16:13:38
We will never catch up with the championship never mind the EPL.

16.) 09 Jun 2024 17:03:28
SWM that's the sad truth.

17.) 09 Jun 2024 19:22:51
I think TT1212 has it in one. Tottenham paid £65m for a player who has hardly played. £120k/ week and they are paying him off to get him out the door and so it happens. It hasn't happened so much with us.

25 May 2024 11:36:20
What’s our lineup with the available squad today? I’m always optimistic as we can clearly see lots of weaknesses with them, just about taking advantage of it on the day. (I’m aware we’ve yet to do that)

Tav Sterling Davies Borna
Lunny Raskin
Sima Cantwell Silva

Yilmaz won’t make it. Diomande isn’t the partner for Lunny so either of them with Raskin. I think Cantwell links up well with Sima. Silva gave their rb such a hard game at Parkhead I think it’ll be wise to give him another shot.

2-1 the gers (assuming we don’t start 2 down again of course)

1.) 25 May 2024 13:16:04
Lunny and Raskin will get over run we need someone to make a 3 man midfield and diomande should start imo.

2.) 25 May 2024 13:44:49
Agreed, the 10 will have to drop, could be Diomande in there, but I prefer Cantwell for creativity.

07 Apr 2024 21:52:23
Well as much as the draw keeps us in it, I think that performance, especially the 1st half, was so much worse than we could imagine. The line up worried me and the performance shocked me.

Tav, horrendous but great pen. Basically asked Maeda if he can jump in his pocket. Goldson, either playing injured or fell off a cliff. Move him on. Souttar ok and Sterling played well for LB replacement.

Diomande took it right from Kenny Miller was ok for 1st OF and Lundstrum was decent but looks tired.

Wright, move him on. Lawrence poor and Silva too busy playing up. Dessers work his socks off and had zero support.

Wow, we need plenty of good summer business and most of that is to get rid of players. There is some good in there, but for me, 1 or 2 attack minded players needed and the rest goes on defence.

1.) 07 Apr 2024 22:37:48
Said it week in advance, Sterling better than diomande who is terrible in possession. So slack with the ball. Sterling all day for me.

2.) 07 Apr 2024 22:53:19
Surprised dowell made the bench ahead of raskin and where has roofe gone?

3.) 07 Apr 2024 23:25:54
Play Barisic at lb like paul? Diomande had a good second half.

4.) 08 Apr 2024 02:01:05
Sterling has to be in CM at Parkhead.
Sima and Matondo on the wings.

5.) 08 Apr 2024 05:00:14
Diomande done well IMO tho you thought Butland was honking Paul and it was only him. That kept us in it 1st half.

6.) 08 Apr 2024 05:27:47
Paul am sorry you don't like the full Dee Monty ? think everyone seen where the trouble came from same 6 year old defence but aye diamante.

7.) 08 Apr 2024 08:21:27
I totally agree with you Blue89?
Sterling for me wasted playing at left back and should be in the engine room when we go to breeze-block boulevard ?.

8.) 08 Apr 2024 09:15:38
I think yesterday highlighted a few things most are aware of (or becoming so quickly) .
1. We are light in regards certain positions. As clearly Sterling’s best position is not LB and clearly we did not like the alternative. Others (midfielders) looked tired and we need an ability to rotate. That players like Raskin appear to have disappeared is a worry.
2. Whilst I think the balance was wrong in 1st half, I am impressed that PC has the tactical nous not only to make the right adjustments, but clearly has developed respect from his players and his half time messages got across.
3. We ARE overly nervous in this fixture and constantly seem to be playing catch up. That is an area again I’m sure PC will work on for Parkhead.

Overall we got out of jail, can get back to the summit this week, then it’s foots to the pedal for the rest of the games, and hopefully by next Old Firm we’ll have a few more back and closer to 100%.

08 Mar 2024 11:00:45
Curious on this one and I’m sure a few more will be. Anyone know the last penalty we conceded that wasn’t a hand ball?

1.) 08 Mar 2024 14:55:06
Mph is our resident stat guy, always on spot on!

2.) 08 Mar 2024 18:10:29
I think it was Dessers on Broadfoot in the League Cup?
Went to VAR for the big man standing on Broadfoots toes.

29 Feb 2024 09:33:13
So let’s look at the last 10 games, just before we get 1 game at a time posts at least.

2 old firms, so we’ll take that out. Clearly we need to at least match them for points.

They have hearts as potentially tricky then lower league opposition until the split. We’ve got Dundee going for top 6 away and hibs at home but nothing we shouldn’t be winning. Relatively equal in terms of difficulty until the split.

After the split we have 2 away and 2 home, taking Celtic out of it. Hearts away and Killie at home. They have the opposite.

1.) 29 Feb 2024 09:51:16
As we saw last night it's a hard place to go to, they have not won there, lost in league and Cup, tricky fixture nowadays. Thank fk we gt killie at home lol.

2.) 29 Feb 2024 09:57:23
Sorry posted that without finishing. Leaves us with Killie and st Mirren at home so guessing the 6th place team we’ll have away regardless of who it is.

Top and bottom is we’ve got 10 games, fairly even finish so let the best team take it.

3.) 29 Feb 2024 10:00:24
Win the remaining five league games before the split leagues ours.

4.) 29 Feb 2024 11:12:08
That would put us at least 5 points clear of them if we do win all 5 games before the split My star ?It would be very difficult for celtic to come back from that My star, i agree mate ?.

5.) 29 Feb 2024 11:49:53
We need to stay top then beat them at IBROX, that would be 5 points and if we take care of the rest of the games outwith parkhead we win it, beating them and going say 7 points clear if they draw another before hand would be a stick on hopefully but yes one game at a time, my only other worry is the injuries and games after Europe.

6.) 29 Feb 2024 11:55:42
Will we not need to play an extra game away to balance up the fixtures? Which means we need to play one of the teams we have at home away? Like has happened in previous seasons? If so I bet they pick kille away.

7.) 29 Feb 2024 13:07:40
We can still get killie away in split depending on who makes top 6. Rangers need hibs to finish top 6 or could find our selves at rugby park again.

8.) 29 Feb 2024 13:55:59
Typically they use a bottom team ie 6th place. Right now 6th is between hibs and Dundee. Hibs take 6th then we’re due to be away to them anyway. Dundee get it then we’ll be due to play them at home but would play them away to ensure we finish 19 home and away.

9.) 01 Mar 2024 08:56:19
Prob between Motherwell, Hibs and Dundee for 6th, think we just need to deal with whatever is thrown at us after split, we have to to win the league regardless of points differentials, or who we may or may not play home or away, take care of our business only.

Ayrshire in an ideal world that Lammers proposal works out well. Reality is, if we got 5 then we’d walk away with 4.5 and the 6 we pay is 6.5 the time we add in additionals.

I get the view we need a goalscorer. The little we seen of Danilo he seemed good but also looks like hell miss a fair few. I do agree though, the pot ain’t bottomless and I’d say Sima is the priority signing for that other wide man. Then the cm we’ll need to fill. That’s before w talk about players leaving who will then need replaced.

Yes wrong Paddy. Not really wanting an ex Celtic player who must be in his 40s.

Dado I’m not saying don’t sell them, I’m saying we can’t sell them and think the fans will be happy with Sterling and another stepping up as replacements. Facts are, they’re two of the highest earners because they’re two of the best players at the club. If there’s a mistake it’s giving the contracts out, once that’s been done, we need to protect our investment and make the best decision going forward.

We need to sell them for the value they’re worth to us, and that includes factoring in the wage we’ll save. I don’t think our top earners are earning too much for where we want to compete. If trimming needs done, it needs to happen with squad players. Ie I expect Goldson to be on roughly £35-£40k, we need a cb that demands that sort of wage in the role leading the back if we’re going to start think about champions league.

How naive are some fans. ‘Take the money and run’ ‘I’ll take them to the airport’ Do we not realise how much it’ll take to replace these two in today’s market? If I hear 1 more time that we have Sterling ready replacement, he’s a utility man. We need quality to replace those two.

Stu89, agree they don’t have the funds like the PIFs but I think they’ll have more money than that. Look what they spent last summer for some sort of guide.

Tommy not sure what you’re referring to exactly, is there talk or an article stating we have no money.

What I would say is this - no funds or no cash? Season ticket income is around half that £36m you stated. Only a fraction of that cash will be received yet, depending on how fans pay for their season ticket. Strip sales I’m not sure how they work in terms of cash but I’d expect an annual payment for a fixed fee and then variable amount depending on sales received monthly or annually.

Your point didn’t mentioned outgoings, which will probably answer your question. When the season tickets and strips don’t come close to covering the outgoings, you become reliant on champions league or going deep in Europa to get you close to covering the costs. I assume you’re referring to cash though, we effectively coin it in for a few months and then run a lot a loss from Sep-May unless we collect lose money. l and are paid for it in that period.

Blue89, a year older mate and has scored goals in a lower league than the one you’re comparing to. I’d be hopefully for money back but tbh, I’d keep him. We overplayed him with lack of options but we do need 3 good strikers in the squad at least.

Paul, Danilo is the Brazilian attacker we signed last summer, Dessers the Nigerian attacker. Happy to add pictures if you’re still unsure if there’s anything difference between them.

Always whinging on about our players not being good enough. There’s quality in this squad, we just need freshness all over. Returns from injuries will provide majority of this. Danilo will be our main striker next year, we don’t have the funds to get a better quality striker than him. Perhaps a cheaper striker suited to the league more but not better quality.

Officials making poor decisions need called out. You can’t let poor decisions go without voicing concerns or we’ll never improve quality of refereeing. Not saying we lost on Sat due to Walsh but he wasn’t great.
