So that's 2 players we have been heavily linked with this summer not coming in. If garcia report is true, this is very disappointing for us.
For me, there is 1 thing to blame and it is the standard of football in our league. It's on a par with Finland, Norway leagues etc. even they are more exciting to watch and the lack of competives from other teams to challenge Celtic, how can we compete for top talent? so no wonder they are going elsewhere.
To compete to sign these type players you're going to have to put these players probably on 20-30k a week and we're probaly not offering half of that, so going elsewhere
People want sign players closer to home why what does it matter where player comes from they have got be good enough to make our first team better and there is hardly any in scotland capable of doing this.

You don’t know that Craig’s, whole host of things could make him not want to come, yes not wanting to come to Scotland is one, maybe his family don’t fancy it, he’s Spanish speaking and maybe wants to move to Spain or Portugal where he can speak the language easily, and similar climate, I’m not surprised at all, There is a reason why a lot of South Americans prefer Spain or Portugal.

Wonder where the young Scottish talent has gone?
We used to be able to produce them but they're just not showing up these days.
England on the other hand seem to have a never ending conveyer belt of successfull under age sides simply brimming with talent.
Was talking with an ex-pro a wee while back, he reckoned coaches were to blame.
His exact words being 'They're coaching the football out the laddies'
Think he might have meant natural ability?

The English teams scoop up the scottish talent and they fade and waste away in their reserves and don't reach their potential then end up at Accrington Stanley. Not exactly like that but you get the jist of what I mean. Unfortunately nowadays big wages offered to young players out weighs 1st team football at lesser clubs.

Where does it say he's rejected us? He's maybe being loyal to Penarol so they get a fee for him rather than leaving for nothing. Also, the fee may be a lot lower than reported. Let's see how it plays out.
Agree it is frustrating missing out on players, this one in particular. He looks good but hard to tell how they'd adapt here.

What’s happened to the youth? For years kids have been guided away from the game. Our council take goal posts down in the summer to save cutting the grass. Only kid on parks and the council want money to go on, schools don’t run football the way they used to.
too many youth coaches only interested in young kids winning, and parents attitude of screaming at kids. Game is supposed to be fun, kids getting told to pass, pass, pass and not to take players on and develop personal ball skills.

Tottishaw - the whole Scottish system needs revamped from grass routes up that’s what England did and they’ve succeeded immensely unfortunately for us Scottish footballs a toxic cauldron and not many sides are fond of us up here so we struggle to get good deals on good talent.

England's population is roughly 10 times Scotland's - of course they will produce ten times the young talents we will, so unless we increase our population another 50 million, they will always be miles ahead of us regards the young players they produce.

Not as easy as a direct proportional link LH re Scotland England populations? Belgium have same population as Scotland roughly yet look at players produced from them recently and their rankings on world stage - schools football and grassroots amateur and junior football has dropped away from its height in 60s/ 70s due to funding support and general interest over last 20-50years - teachers are not being paid to support school team ie overtime/ extra hours also so much paperwork to get correct level of vetted worker for childrens safety etc etc (which is 100% correct) - also kids more interested in Sky TV and gaming/ phones/ devices than out playing in streets therefore less of potential pool to pick from - Europe in comparison is fairly wealthy compared to under privileged countries ie Africa/ Asia / S Americas where football is a way out of poverty and hardship for many young men so their inherent need/ hunger and desire to succeed at a sport is all too apparent! We need the interest from the youth and the input support from Govt funding to help all sports through out Scotland or the slide will continue. When I was in teens we would have 15 a side games regularly at local parks men and boys alike and all council pitches were mobbed at nights and weekends - not the case now! - most football pitches are deserted through summer months - sad but true.

Blu-Floyd, spot on mate. I played amateur in the 70s 80s and at times had to travel to be able to hire a park, they were all booked, now a lot of them locally are used as dog walking areas! . No need for paperwork to run teams and no need for 3 sfa coaches, or 3 full sets of strips/ track suits, which all cost money. doesn't look good for the future, and honestly I don't know what the solution is.

The youth football in Scotland is in many cases who you know with certain parents getting their kids in early and they tend to stay with the club for a long time blocking the paths of better players who end up giving up the game at 17/ 18 to work as they just can’t break into pro youth. To get a trial is almost impossible at many pro youth sides with scouts and coaches playing god.
Look how little talent Scottish clubs produce now. It’s pathetic. Need to shake it up maybe even have large open trials for 15’s, 16’s, 17’s etc and see who the best players out there are and get them into clubs and coach them to be better. And clear out the dross who will never make it but can say to everyone oh I played for this club or that club for 10 years and then did hee haw ??????.

Can’t see why Garcia would sign a new deal when he will lose money on a transfer this summer, fair enough if he fancies another team but the new deal to get his club more money makes ZERO sense, his club will be trying everything but if it walks like a duck and quacks like one ??♂️.

We can’t get them all and will have multiple targets for each position.
People seem to get annoyed when we are linked with a player and don’t get them, blaming the board. There could be 20 teams bidding for a player and we have no divine right to be the most appealing.
Let’s be honest the appeal of moving to a cold rainy Scotland, to play in a terrible league is probably not that appealing over other options.
We have signed 3 players before the window has even opened which is a good start.
