We're 100% still in talks with Shankland. Still a way to go but Shankland wants the move and has already told Hearts to sort it. Been told some of the names we are being linked to are utter bollocks.

Shankland is this transfer window saga similar to Joey Veerman's from a couple of years ago, he wanted to sign for Rangers the majority of supporters wanted it to happen unfortunately it never was happening.

I’d like Shankland but part of me wonders if PC does? Maybe he does idk ?♂️ people point to the end of the game at Hearts were the embraced as a sign. At the time I thought that was completely taken outta context but after seeing big Phil in games on the touch line getting all fired up, he probably did say something! Sounds very fan appeasing!
I’m not saying it will happen but no one can complain to the board or manager if it doesn’t work out, everyone including myself wanted it. I just think playing for Hearts under very little pressure will be different to a toxic Ibrox if we’re a goal down at half time, sometimes that jersey is too heavy for some!

I just don't think that Shankland is the answer. Scores at hearts but we aren't hearts. The pressure is fat higher and so is the standard of opposition teams when playing us.

Tbh I think if we were going to sign Shankland it would’ve been done straight away in the window. There’s no benefit to us playing the long game as hearts don’t want to sell him. Only way it goes through in my opinion is if Shankland really pushes for it which I don’t think he will.

John players nearly always agree personal terms via third parties before clubs give them permission to make formal contact, every team in the world does it. Not saying we are, or are not talking to Shankland though. You see it all the time, personal terms agreed etc but deal not done.

Those of you who aren’t keen on shankland, I’m really unsure why? 53 G/ A since the start of last season. Finished level on goals with kyogo last year, the top scorer this campaign, also scored in Europe for hearts as well. Easily the best option for up top in this window, just a matter if we can afford him.

Copland/ John227. Correction on my part for posting the original rumour. Whether we have or not spoken to Shankland directly is up for debate. What I meant was that we are 100% engaged in discussions with third parties regarding the transfer of Shankland to Rangers.
I'm not expert on transfer dealings on who or whom would be involved. But I can guarantee that we have "spoken" to Hearts regarding the player. Without giving too much away I work with a certain company in Strathaven who is VERY close to the situation. Whether it pulls off or not is another story but this deal is very much aliv.

I'd keep Balogun John. He's a very able deputy on a low wage who loves playing for us. He's been part of the squads who won all 3 of our recent trophies and went to the Europa final and played his part in all of them.

Tbf John I know not everyone wants It, I was meaning like the vast majority! And u always get a feeling of what the cast majority want on Twitter and other sources. On here we’re just a mob of folk with differing opinions- but I get your point.
See even when u think about it is Shankland really the right striker to bring in right at this point anyway, if say hypothetically we did buy him. I don’t think his overall game is good enough for Europe level games Just my opinion but get someone in that can help us compete in all competitions until the end of the year. And buy Shankland in the summer for SPL push.
Big PC said yesterday that he does expect to make more signings but I just hope there good. And I hope he’s getting what was promised to him when he interviewed for the Rangers managers Job. The board brung in Beale who wasted millions, and gave him free reign to buy someone that’s already loaned out, not good. I really like the manager but he can only do so much with a squad like ours.

Gerrard never went for shankland as he was at such a low level, beale couldn't strike a match, that's why he failed with the money he's dossed on strikers n go never really had a chance, iv said before, i think its a shame we ain't signed him, as he's waY better n what we have n far more prolific
N also managers can be wrong hence why we have been through a whack recently.

On shanks, when he was at Ayr, he was discussed on here and people (generalization) thought aye, but it's only Ayr, that's his level. Went to United, played well, that's his level. At Hearts now, playin out his skin, that's his level. Think most here think he could do a job for us in the spfl but would struggle in Europe, and that's fine for me, we need someone who can handle our league but the point is, every time it's said that he's found his level, he finds a new one. Maybe he'll be brilliant in Europe as well.

we need higher quality than that.
Be better off scouting the Dutch, Belgian and Danish leagues for a young up and coming CF.
Veerman is part of highly talented champions league quality squad, as PSV actually know how to spot buy and sell quality young players, and sell them on for a healthy profit.
Veermans worth 24 mill now and playing with the best side in holland currently.

There is some good stuff on here and not to upset anyone.
BUT can definitely tell there are a lot on here that don't know their football. We all have opinions and contacts etc etc but some of the stuff on here is a hard read.
EG. Talking about lowering wages and not paying certain amounts for proven players, have you seen the state of football in the last 10 years. Why do people think we had to pay so much for Dessers Danilo and Lammers, yet they are terrible?
Are certain people expecting Gers to get a 30 goal a season striker for £1million HAHA
Rangers are a Big name club in a tiny little league that most players don't care about these days.
Sticking their noses up at Shankland saying he won't face the same opposition as Gers currently do. eh. he plays in the same league.
When other teams in the league play against Hearts they only really need to worry about Shankland, and the lad still top scorer. If he was at Gers then he would have a lot more chances to score and we have more threats than most other teams in the league too.
Where else are people seeing a proven striker for the same level of money?
Also saying that Gio and Beale didn't want Shankland, like that proves anything LOL
There is likely more going on behind the scenes than we all know and hopefully Shanks gets brought in and we win the league. Europa is nice but it shouldn't be main priority. Win the league and get in Champions League for the big money and then more doors will open to sign even better players.

Would agree all of the above names need to go now bar Balogun (squad player and wages dependant) . Jack and Roofe both quality players but the stats on availablity speak for themselves.
An aside on Helander- notice he has been injury free since leaving us and is off to anderlecht now. Strange situation the injuries at our club.
