Just waiting on the club announcing Kenny McLean this week after losing out on a proper target. I hope I’m wrong but I wouldn’t be surprised. Tav, McLean and Shankland on the same starting 11, we’ll be out the league my Christmas.

Earlier in the window it was reported that Trabzonspor had agreed terms with Tav, but we were hagling over £1m in the fee. If we're left with Tav for the sake of that money I think we've ultimately made a big mistake. I've been a big supporter of Tav across the years, but think this is the right time to move on, he's looked miles off it in pre season and any errors from him are going to jumped on by a set of the support very quickly. Also think we need a new captain, but don't think there are any clear choices (unlike many I'm not convinced butland is the man, and actually think he's had a very poor pre season too) .

Jefte just in the door at 20 years of age, looks a real prospect.
He`s had a run out in a couple of pre-season matches against decent opposition in patchwork sides where he literally knows no one.
Cortes, another super prospect, was caught out by blindside runs on both occasions.
PC stated post match they spoke about it at half time and will work on the defensive side of the game going forward so its a watching brief.
Thought we looked terrific offensively in spells in the first half yesterday, played the kind of football most of us would want to see.

The Tavernier dilemma reminds me of the same situation the other mob were in years ago with McGrain. Top player who lost a couple of yards of pace and had to resort to fouling players who would never have got past him in his prime. Tavernier's major, major asset was his pace combined with his energy and his dead ball ability. It seems like all are now on the wane and he won't last another full season. However, if the manager was to talk to him about easing him down then he'd be totally acceptable to me as a squad player. As for the captaincy, I see no reason why he couldn't be called 'club captain' in an honorary way while we appoint a team captain and vice captain. Also I think that after the service he has given us he deserves his testimonial.

Ridvan would suit a league that is more technical, he definitely has the talent, Still young with plenty potential, German league would suit him well John.
Plenty Turks in the German league, and suburbs with healthy Turkish populations, so will be easier for him to settle in while continuing his European adventure, plenty time for him to go back to the Turkish league to play for one the big clubs there.
If he can stay fit, good future for him at the right club.

I’ve just been told that we have no interested at all in Kevin van Veen. His destination is more than likely Aberdeen if Miovski is sold. Not sure how solid the rumour is but I thought I’d pass it on. I’ll be glad if this ends up true, our sights should be higher although I accept that he’d possibly fill a hole until the summer.

We also could have the upper hand in negotiations as he came through the Ajax system when Davie Vos was there. For me he would instantly be the best CB in the country and would be on par with us landing Boumsong years ago. Very highly regarded by the scouts I know.

Last night was a tough one to watch but there’s no doubt their b-team are better than us. I have to say, I thought PC was very naive in playing Tav and Jeffe at full backs against two of the best wingers we’ll see at Ibrox this season and I really hope Tav being subbed at 60 minutes is a sign of what’s about to come.
A lot has been said about Barron, it wasn’t his best game but he’s a young lad who needs help in the middle of the park, he can’t do it all himself and his standard today is the SPL, he will continue to get better.
Dessers needs to grow a pair as well, all this throwing himself about in the box is embarrassing. If he spent more time trying to control the ball or even hold the ball up as he does throwing himself about the box we’d be in a better place.

Again agree Sollo, but think Tav does need rested for his own sake. One of two things will happen; his replacement will be great which would be good or he has poor games or makes mistakes and becomes the new Tav.
Yes, Dessers does throw himself to the ground, but at one point in the box last night the defender had him in a bear hug and McCoist was saying, 'nothing in it for me', whilst every slight touch they got resulted in a foul.
There is contact when he falls, not enough most times in my mind, but there is contact and others do seem to get those decisions.

Sollof; I agree we are a shadow of our self and a lot of that is down to recruitment and money, Lyon are way ahead of us in quality and that’s down to money and the league they play in is way above ours, they can attract players who wouldn’t dream of playing in our league, I remember being in Lyon to see one of our best away displays a 3-0 win but they came to Ibrox and won 3-0 so nothing new here, we lack quality look at them quality basically all over the park especially their front three our defence were pulled all over the place they were quite simply a far better team and it showed nothing to do with tactics and all to do with players, they took their chances superbly we fluffed our lines, for me we need to stick by the team and manager this will take maybe another two windows and maybe outside investment to sort this out it’s taken years to get into this mess and I’m afraid it won’t be fixed in one window and finally to those clowns letting off flares again another fine on its way to an already stretched budget or god forbid a closed stand.

I disagree Sollof19, the fans crack up when we’re spanked like we were last night.
For years we defended tooth and nail at home, both under Smith and Advocate. I remember at home to Parma under Advocate, Porrini ran into the Parma half to get to the ball. Advocate went nuts at him screaming for him to get back in position and not to be pulled out looking for the ball.
We cannot continue playing 1 dimensional football with the same team and formation regardless of opponent, I’ll reiterate my point, PC is naive if he thinks we can.

How does not playing Tav effect us going forward?
Tav has lost all his speed, he cannot beat a man, he cannot pass to a Rangers man more than 10 yards away and he can barely cross a ball these days.
Dessers is a terrible, fair enough he runs about somewhat aimlessly but he constantly dives to the ground trying to cheat, its disgusting and no wonder refs aren't buying it.
Even if Dessers stays on his feet he can't control the ball, always chasing after it.
Cerny is so slow. he doesn't even cut inside, he cuts backwards. waste of a jersey.
Barron was not at his best but to be fair to the lad, he's a young boy, came from Aberdeen, not Real Madrid and has basically been entrusted to command the midfield with no help at all.
Dio was all over the place and though he looked ok but him and Barron cannot play together.
Lawrence should have just come off after he scored rather than run about injured.
Why didn't PC move Bajrami into the 10, move Jefte up to LW and bring on Nana for LB, rather than bringing on Dowell. and Iggy on for Dessers. Ross on for Cerny. SIMPLE.
Souttar and Propper were not good either. Gave Lyon attacker far too much time on the ball and allowed them to run at them. We need better.
Still a bit raging to be honest but at least it wasnt 7-1 LOL.

However I can understand Dessers frustration that when there is contact and he goes down he expects a foul. do you not get frustrated when a defender moves back towards the corner feels a slight touch, falls to ground and gets a free kick. this is same as Dessers.

I’m really starting to see PC’s stamp on the team taking effective, we appear ready to go on a run. Our performances are getting better and his signings really are starting to show their worth.

They are both English born players who are playing for the land of their birth and Grealish only ever played for Eire at non senior level. Its a bit rich the Irish fans bitching about this considering how many English and Scottish born players have players have played for them . Their best ever team had the likes of Houghton and Aldridge in it. I just wish more players would stick to the land of their birth then we wouldn`t have to watch Dykes playing in a Scotland shirt.

You just can’t sell a really poor player who doesn’t want to move to a club of his level. Plenty of clubs in Romania, Bulgaria and Poland want him but he feels he’s too good for them. I wish him every success with our b-team although I expect we have better youth players in there already.

Yeah I don’t disagree Angus, I expect and hope all three will have very successful careers, we just couldn’t expect that to be a successful mid field three to take us forward. We need better today whiling balancing building for the future. We’re actually doing that with Barron, we need to see who we can add to bring the best out of him as he can’t do it on his own.

Celtic would absolutely smash that midfield 3, Aberdeen would probably dance around them.
I’m all for given young players a chance if they’ve put the work in and are good enough but the reality is we’re not playing champ man.
