Afternoon. Troubled times for our famous club. Apart from Butland, the defence needs clearing out. Back in the day we had the Iron Curtain with defenders like George Young and Willie Woodburn.

Make us difficult to score against and take it from there. We need to give Rohl time. This Sunday could be interesting with the other mob away to Hearts. Must win this week. Too many opportunists in this squad.

Having a defence that is made up of loan signings and soon to be out of contract players rarely works. Should've kept Balogun and maybe signed Kasanwirjo would've been a start at least.

24 Oct 2025 17:59:12
Big big mistake not giving Balogun another season, he would have been an asset even not playing every game. Especially on the wage he was on, how much are we paying out at the moment for these very poor loan signings.

24 Oct 2025 14:47:03
Missed a bit of the first half but seemed Gassama was playing too narrow last night don't see the point in playing wingers if played in such away they basically loose their effectiveness, also don't know what's happening with Antman and Moore?

You would think as tav is captain, Rohl would be asking him who he rates initially to help pick a team for eg. Tell him to play young Curtis. Hope to see some changes on Sunday.

Rohl has been interested in this job a while and will have been watching all our games, also it'll be part of the interview process to talk about the current squad etc.

24 Oct 2025 14:29:06
I have to say I would love for Rangers to find someone as calm and composed as Eivind Helland in defence.

20 years old and mature beyond his years.

That leadership is sorely lacking in the Rangers defence.

EHL i see you have said no hearts player gets in the Rangers starting lineup.

I am curious, would any of my players?

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Oct 2025 15:40:44
Asa, you sure EHL didn't say that no Rangers player would get in the Hearts starting line up.

24 Oct 2025 15:47:39
Asathor, Brann are a very organised side that was a major part in that win, few good players mate.
Rohl needs wins and get some confidence back into our players.

24 Oct 2025 15:52:46
I said before the game we would be surprised by Brann. Very decent looking team Asa. The support were very vocal as well, i have to say i was impressed. Any loans available for us? 😂.

24 Oct 2025 15:57:20
Would be impossible to say without seeing more of the Brann squad - especially in training as everyone knows that the Rangers squad are pretty much unplayable in training.

24 Oct 2025 16:30:26
EHL are they unplayable in training because they're going up against…Rangers in training 😂.

24 Oct 2025 17:41:13
EHL, that's class mate gave me a wee laugh. Train like beasts these lads.

24 Oct 2025 14:16:19
Hi, This season is slowly drifting away, if not already. It looks like we need a window or two to get the players that are badly needed.

We need to get rid of a good few players (not easy) and slowly get back to where we should be! Hope the manager gets the chance to do that.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 Oct 2025 16:08:03
It was out in the middle of the Pacific ocean weeks ago mate 🌊🛟.

24 Oct 2025 16:12:58
Golf u say not easy to get rid off players, that will be the easy bit, it's recruiting ten plus that's the issue

Loan players who will leave
Djiga
Meghoma
Cornelius
Moore
Arrons

Players out of contract
Kelly
Taverner
Souttar
Davies
Matondo
King
Rice
Dowell
Cifuentes will go

Butland Diomande and Raskin will have interest
Barron wants to go to Italy.

24 Oct 2025 17:22:55
John that's a very good list that's all going I. My opinion

I think there's a few here on this list when they go the dynamics in the club will change and it will bring a positive change and then we will see us moving forward

Think I'll frame this post as I firmly believe when this final batch of players go things will get better

And hopefully the recruitment can get things rolling on the more positive side too.

24 Oct 2025 17:56:40
Was Kelly only on a 2 year deal John?

From that list and what I've seen so far, I think Cornelius would do a job for us and would like to see a deal done.

Personally I'd be trying to keep Souttar, can't believe how much grief he gets on here. Hopefully Rohl can get him back to full confidence, he needs strong players either side of him aswell, Cornelius could one of them. However expect he'll want out of Ibrox anyway.

There are a lot of wages being freed up from this so can hopefully attract some decent players. How we find transfer fees for 6/ 7 defenders though🤷🏻‍♂️ we should have targets known now and expect some frees have already been identified.

24 Oct 2025 18:04:00
Can we get the tip ex out and change the dates of a few of the players signed recently.

24 Oct 2025 18:06:34
John - very interesting.

And the sad indictment of our squad is, are there any of the OOC players you would want to keep?

Even the loan players, I'd only keep Cornelius if the price is reasonable and possibly Meghoma.

Hell, even Butland I wouldn't be too bothered at losing.

24 Oct 2025 13:17:15
EHL I have to say your insight into the squad has proven accurate so far this season in terms of what RM was doing wrong and how Thelwell has shafted us a fair bit.

Wondering what your take would be on how Rohl can go about improving this situation and just how much he needs to change?

Like you, I am excited by Rohl and believe of the options he was the best option for us. I'm just struggling to see how he sorts this mess out and you got to see the players in a way most of us haven't.

Agree4 Disagree0

24 Oct 2025 14:36:14
Ayrshiremurphy- you believe Rohl was the best option for us. He was the only option left.

24 Oct 2025 14:36:41
The players are in a rut - training has becomes to comfortable, personalities have been sanitised and confidence is rock bottom.

Martin effectively drilled all personality out of the squad.

Rohl is on a mission to do the opposite - he wants the players to be emotional and he trusts himself and his team to manage personalities.

He's already pushing the players much harder in training and he's deliberately trying to stimulate some aggression within the group by focusing on duels - Nsiala and Gassama had a wee flare up on the first day and the coaches celebrated it.

Tav was told to ignore the press briefing and say whatever he was feeling after the game - go be a human, I believe was the expression Rohl used. This caused a bit of a reaction in the squad on the journey back - but it's what Rohl wants.

Today that he had a session with the where he basically told players to voice every frustration they had been holding back and it got pretty fiery.

Lol, I'm actually so buzzing about what's happening that I'm rambling on.

24 Oct 2025 14:44:09
EHL, to use your own terminology I am intrigued to what you make of our current situation now we have a top coach in who was successful going through the process you so much believed in which delivered Russell Martin. You were delighted when Gerrard deal fell through and were intrigued what would happen next. I told you I was worried what would happen next. I know it early doors for Rohl who you know far better than me is an excellent course who has been dealt a terrible hand. I also acknowledge you knowledge of coaching etc, and I was factually inaccurate when I I said your very low opinion of Gerrard was based on your ex colleagues opinions, and were right when you said they were spilt down the middle on him. I am guessing from you previous posts about your own coaching career you are circa 40 age group. I might be old school but I wanwant a Rangers manager/ Head Coach who is a leader a figurehead, who doesn't need to be a top coach if others in his team have those credentials. Imo opinion we need someone who can raise standards at every level in football dept by their sheer force of personality, demanding improvements, motivating player's, inspiring them to do more.

Examples I would use are as follows, Clough not seen as a great coach, but a brilliant man manager, Walter Smith also a great man manager who knew standards he wanted at Rangers. A couple of examples I refer to, Clough I. Dderby' s last game to win promotion he comes into dressing room, singing fly me to the moon, then tells player's when they run out onto park look to stands where their families are sitting so proud of them and wanting to win and get promotion. Barcelona 1972 Willie Waddel's Gettysburg address to player's in dressing room to player's - think of every city, town and village in Scotland where there are Ranger's supporters, think of exciled Scots in England, Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand. Think of fanbase in NI, that's who you are playing for, so just go out and win it for them. There are a couple of great examples of Gerrard doing that kind of inspiration. I just hope our new style Head Coach can hit these kind of football heights. I would be intrigued to hear your thoughts on this wider issue.

24 Oct 2025 15:10:06
Love EHLs input to the site.

24 Oct 2025 15:18:31
A good point was made earlier about the crazy goals we are losing nearly every game. Personally I would do to teams what they do to us and string 5 across the back just to stop losing goals, steady the ship so to speak. I know fans want an attacking team but something has to be done fast.

24 Oct 2025 15:45:44
I'm really liking Rohl.
He's a breath of fresh air.

24 Oct 2025 15:49:37
EHL some media outlets saying that Thelwell had input to starting lineup last night - could explain why his lovechild Chermiti started - certainly hope this is just a malicious rumour because this would just be a recipe for disaster moving forward if this was a regular occurrence- IMHO.

24 Oct 2025 15:54:36
So glad hearing that EHL, get the frustration out, be a few home truths getting dished out, only be good for the process.

24 Oct 2025 16:00:48
Love it EHL. Finally a bit of character from these players. Black eyes all round, hands shakes and then out for beers. Get Martin off your chest lads. Then get tore into Killie on Sunday 👍🏻💪.

24 Oct 2025 16:11:02
This is exactly the type of stuff we want to hear and see.

Emotion is a sign of someone caring about what's happening.
If that emotional energy can be channeled in the right way it can be really positive.

24 Oct 2025 16:12:24
Once a Ger, only thing I would say is how do you know Rohl isn't the person to do that?

Look at his press conferences - he is openly taking responsibility for the current situation, I'd say that's leadership.

Last night, he approached the fans after the match and spoke to them directly - leadership.

In the airport, he took the time to break up a heated situation by again speaking to the fans - leadership.

It's only been a few days in, but to me he's showing signs that he is willing - not yet proven - to be a figurehead.

24 Oct 2025 16:29:12
Thanks for the insight EHL. And as for the poster saying Rohl was our only option left. We interviewed 5. Cavanagh told us this. 1 being Rohl, 2 known and 2 not. So Muscat was ruled out for timing (confirmed by Craig Moore today) Gerrard was also timing due to family being settled and not wanting to come in mid season (must be the truth as it was the truth about Muscat and no point in telling 1 truth and 1 lie).

Ignoring that I wanted Rohl or Muscat but preferred Rohl whilst not expecting him to get it due to fan uproar. Evidence being a made a couple posts showing who Rohl was and trying to disprove the Martin 2.0 nonsense.

Back to you now EHL lol. I can see what you're saying as we look emotionless on the field. We look robotic. I watched a video of Will Still talking the other day and he said to the interviewers that he was taking a session and had to stop it because they were giving the ball away needlessly in poor positions. He asked the player where's the space. The player pointed to the space. Will still said then why not play it there and the player asked "am I allowed to? " This shows what Martin does to teams.

24 Oct 2025 16:35:39
I am glad from your reply you are acknowledging the types of leadership I mention are required at Rangers. The last thing we need is a laptop coach like our own version of Ian Cathro. I saw a senior Gerrman International had coined a phrase along the lines of laptop nuisance when Rohl was an assistant with German National team.

I really hope those are the words of a disillusioned player who has judged Rohl wrongly. I hope all the points you have alluded to with Rohl point to a true leader to take us forward in leap and bounds. Another couple of examples of Gerrard's natural leadership skills, in his first season a game at Ibrox before forecoming game against Celtic New Year game at Ibrox we lose a late goal to Hibs and all stadium is deflated in run up to Celtic game, we also have a number of injuries, Gerrard is asked in post match interview if he is going into old firm game in a bad position.

Gerrard replies that he could acknowledge that but asked the player's in dressing room at end of game "Who's with me for Celtic game? To which every player shouted "We are with you"!
Hopefully Rohl has these qualities.

24 Oct 2025 16:42:22
I had a good laugh at that Ayrshire.

It's honestly impossible to try and articulate just how damaging Martin was to the club - he just absorbed/ consumed so much energy from everyone - the place was like a ghost town.

Already there are some really positive signs coming out from those at the club that Rohl and his team are restoring the energy.

24 Oct 2025 17:08:05
Rohl wasn't for me this time but may have been perfect in summer. I feel sorry for him now having to try and clear up others mess.

I like him and yes like EHL says everything he's done last 24 hours is good leadership. I hope he's successful.

24 Oct 2025 17:54:05
EHL - really enjoyed reading that first post. That's exactly what this squad needs.

24 Oct 2025 18:07:50
Good to read some of this EHL, maybe just maybe we turn a corner in the not too distant future.

24 Oct 2025 18:11:20
EHL - you often manage to reinvigorate with your insight.

Really enjoy your posts. so much so I can ALMOST accept your traitorous defection to Hearts 😁.

24 Oct 2025 12:57:10
The way it's looking that come the start of January we will be totally out of Europe, if we don't beat Celtic we've lost the league cup and we will be fighting for third or fourth in the league. I am giving Danny Rohl all the support and hopefully he can get some of his own picks in the team in Jan to build for next season.

Return all the loan deals and transfer Tav, Souttar, Dio, Danilo, Rothwell, Aasgaard. We are at rock bottom with a group of players who don't know how to play for the Jersey or understand the club.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 Oct 2025 14:06:47
Danilo needs to be here imho at least in short term - have u seen who's supposedly in front of him BT? - Danilo can at least run the channels and has pace and some football brains - everything Chermiti has not!

If Rohl has sense he builds a new defence straight away and stops leaking the schoolboy goals - make us hard to beat initially then the rest will come as I don't think our full strength midfield is that bad?

24 Oct 2025 15:24:01
Ah the old "Rangers Class" what and who is exactly "Rangers Class" these days?

24 Oct 2025 15:32:36
The boy from Everton is never a footballer, even after 250 hours of football, it'll be the same after 25000 hours, he's simply p**h and a great example of why the answers aren't always in the data (this coming from me, a senior data engineering manager).

24 Oct 2025 15:46:11
I've completely given up on Danilo.

24 Oct 2025 17:09:27
I'm not in the Danilo camp overall, but if we are ever two up front there's no point having the two lumps of wood up there when Danilo can actually play football outside the box.
