A hibs season ticket holder i know quite well is telling me that rangers are definitely interested in signing ryan porteous on a pre contract in january ? I told him no chance and he said just wait and see ?I wonder ?
He told me rangers have made it known to porteous and his agent that we're very interested in signing him?.

Walter he's not a player I'd want to see at the club, I think we were looking at him in the summer so wouldn't be overly surprised if we did sign him, surely our scouting network can come up with someone better for us.

If he can cut out the carry on then I would take a punt. We took a punt on an injury prone player. What harm can it do to take him on and show the kid how to conduct himself. I think he’s a good cb it’s just his attitude that’s not great. Ability wise he could do a job for us.

Good young player just a bit of a hothead as player I would take him but not so much about the baggage don’t think he would come to us.


To the people that are saying no because what he has done in his private life is it any worse than drunk driving and running away from the crash and leaving a team mate there As some seem to think that’s fine with Lawrence.

What are some on here not grasping when it comes to this roaster? Firstly, he absolutely despises us, and would probably prefer to eat a daily helping of dog s#*t than play for us. This is a guy who was recently involved in throwing a glass, and injuring a young girl on a night out. He also nicked a memorial wreath on a night out. A memorial wreath! He's tried to, on a number of occasions, wipe some of our players out while playing against us. Joe Aribo anyone?
The guy is absolute prat, and not that good a player. The way some are creaming themselves over his scotland appearance is nauseating. Why would anyone want him? We already have better, and If we were looking to sign another CD, there's better options out there.

Still jakey behaviour but let's not make it sound worse than it is. Agree what Lawrence did was far worse and fans quickly forgot about his misgivings.

Porteous would do a job for us.
He hates to lose and is not afraid to mix it - if he can control his aggression, I believe there is a player in there.
I would not want to spend big cash on him but a pre contract deal would be ideal and he has years ahead of him. He is not currently injury prone like too many others we have signed in past!

What Gazza done was wrong, Paul. Way wrong! You never lift your hand to a woman, that is just not on. I don't buy this crap about the demon drink, or his depression, making him do that. I know other alcoholics and guys who suffer from a mental sickness, who have never, or would ever lift their hands to a woman, so that doesn't wash with me.
Lawrence was also well out of order in what he done, so no, I don't condone his behaviour.
My main point with Porteous is the hatred he has for us. It's actually palpable. Why do you think he said Ibrox was his favourite ground? It was sod all to do with him being a Rangers fan. It was an up yours!

I’d support him if our management signed him.

Our model probably rules him out unless it’s on a free but for me he has a winners mentality and raises his game for the biggest matches ~ that cannot be said about too many of our players atm.

Young guys make mistakes a just imagine if Bassey and`Paterson we’re discarded after their little get together.

I honestly believe Porteous to be a better CB than Souttar. The only reaso I mention Souttar is because they’re both Scottish internationalists and compete for the same position. Right now Porteous seem to be ahead of him.

Porteous would be fit an available more often than a Souttar. He has that dog in him too.

Free transfer for Scottish International defender. Young and made mistakes like most young people do. He is available most weeks and would continue to improve and probably mature coming to Rangers.
Exactly the type of player in terms of business model we would sign.
In terms of his football ability he’s good enough to be a squad player and be more useful than Helander as he’s usually always available whereas Helander isn’t.
Would come under the category as a decent signing for me.
