I said a long time ago we have 1 of the greatest footballing captains of all time as our manager and probably best to trust his judgement. I’m guilty of saying. in past Tav was not rangers captain material. Also that the burden and responsibility of being club captain was likely having a negative impact on his form. I stand by opinion that he is not best suited to be our club captain. He is having a wonderful season however and his goal yesterday was magnificent.

Tav has a year and half on his deal. I think he will go and have a shot at the prem next season and if that’s how he wants to finish his career then he will have full backing of the club and every gers fan, esp after lifting the league trophy above his head and giving us 55. if we don’t win the league I think he will still go but with very different opinions from the fans.

Every player has there price but to get our captain in January will prob cost 20million with that going down to 10 million in the summer it is a important season for us and I think to buy any of our starting 11 in January will come with a heavy premium.

I agree Rfc92, that for any buying club, wishing to sign our captain in january, will have to pay way over the odds to get him👍 However i truly don't think we will sell any of our top players in the january transfer window! To even contemplate selling james tavernier in january,
the interested/ buying club will have to compensate us big time for the loss of tav, with simply putting in an offer, that we just can't refuse 🤔.

The boy is so obviously a good player but as Jaws says, he does lack pace. He sometimes looks like he is running in quicksand. Pity, as he would be very good with that extra yard. Obviously the way we are playing at the moment doesn't suit his game. I do feel for him.

Remember riquelme and Ortega, both world class number 10s. Absolutely zero pace whatsoever both of them. If hagi was played as an old style number 10, I say old as it doesn’t seem there are many number 10s around anymore, he would be a fantastic player. 2 central midfielders behind him to recover any lost balls and provide support. 2 wide players with pace for him to slide through balls to all day and a top finisher through the middle. This would be hagis best position and set up to make up for his lack of pace and get best out of his talent.

In gerrardwetrust, good to see there's someone else who realises that No.10s are a dying breed, often a luxury teams cannot afford and now nearly as old fashioned as an inside right or inside left. As good as he is, Hagi will never be a top player because sadly he lacks pace, he lacks work rate and he lacks energy, all necessary in the modern game for attacking players.

I definitely think the 10 is fast disappearing from modern game, however doesn’t mean it has to. 442 was only a distant memory when Leicester deployed it and stuck to it no matter the opposition. And they won the epl. Hagi could be a great player, like I said riquelme and Ortega as examples were not blessed with pace or work rate but wow. Great players in the right team and system. Perhaps serie A or la liga would suit hagi better.
