Talks going on with Haris Belkebla (26) from Brest so looks like Tapia is gone as they are similar.

19 Jun 2020 15:51:22
Saw a lot of people on twitter saying they don't want him to leave as he's one of their best players. Never seen the guy play personally.

19 Jun 2020 16:55:21
Must be some Algerian international football watchers on here šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø.

19 Jun 2020 18:56:34
Belkelba we don't need a defensive midfielder 1goal in 59 matches.

19 Jun 2020 19:05:48
6 counties why do goals matter for a defensive midfielder?

19 Jun 2020 19:23:33
KJ I was just going to ask same.

19 Jun 2020 19:24:37
Maybe we have given up on tapia? Although heā€™s not declared his next destination yet.

19 Jun 2020 19:25:44
The guy screams grezda to me.

19 Jun 2020 22:24:53
Scored once in 59 games!

19 Jun 2020 22:44:48
We need a defensive midfielder of high caliber. How many times do we loose silly goals and loose a point or 3. We need to dial back our attack by 1 or 2 notches in some games. Our tactics against the diddy teams is to come out all guns blazing and win the game n 20 minutes. That doesn't always work and IMO we should spread that effort over the 90. Bring the F) * (res on, make them play football and slowly demolish them over 90 minutes - 2-0 rather than a 1-1.

19 Jun 2020 23:09:22
we certainly do need a top class defensive mid

thatā€™s why we canā€™t hold on to leads and drop so many points from loosing psns

how many goals has he scored . really for a DM

clue is in the name - because makele deschamps kanye maschersno scored millions

why not fill team with haggis and kentā€™s see how we get on

some folk honestly.

19 Jun 2020 23:19:22
Did someone actually come on here and say "we don't need a defensive midfielder"?!

Really.

Jesus wept. A big Hardman at CDM is what we have needed for 10 year for goodness sake guys. Come on.

20 Jun 2020 00:26:09
From what I have been told about this player he is solid. Wont score many. I asked my friend who he would be like ex player wise and he says hemdani. Great defensive player good reading of the game and knows when to play the ball to our playmakers. I think a strong DM suggests that maybe looking to go into a back 3 as an option going forward.

20 Jun 2020 02:56:02
Ross McCrorie is already there!

20 Jun 2020 10:11:35
For all you experts what are Jack Davis kamara if not defensive midfielders Our problem areas are goalkeeper central defence centre forward right back priority in that order.

20 Jun 2020 10:13:16
Ross Mcrorie is not the answer. We need an experienced player that's going to haunt the opposition and just seems to be every where like a blue bottle on speed.

20 Jun 2020 11:00:23
Trev a team full of haggis wonā€™t help us but on burns night we would be onto a winner.

20 Jun 2020 11:53:46
well so much for having an opinion then.

20 Jun 2020 11:54:04
Lads its not midfielders giving silly goals away its our right back and centre halves responsibility usually.

20 Jun 2020 12:05:36
Trying to figure out what to write on here to not sound insulting to fellow bears! But reading a comment about shipping stupid goals and thatā€™s costing us games. We conceded 19 goals last season in the league so did Celtic tho the defenders they have are multi million superstars we through ours under the bus the problem wasnā€™t defended regardless of mistakes takes two minutes to look at the goals scoring record to see without Alfie we hardly scored goals was the problem 19 goals in 30 games for defenders that cost what 250k for tav and 2m on Goldson tied with celtics 6m superstar defender and ajer who they want 20m for.

20 Jun 2020 14:00:18
6counties, as a non expert I would point out the following.

Davis - past his best, legs have gone.
Kamara - went missing too much after an excellent start. Clearly not what we need
Jack - good player but became error prone and rash. Not yet enough class when the going gets tough.

Overall. If there is a player out there within our budget that we can bring in to improve our starting 11 why would we not target him.

20 Jun 2020 13:59:22
Careful Copland. Some folks like to slaughter our defenders no matter what the facts say.

20 Jun 2020 14:26:55
Ross McCrorie is the complete athlete and modern defensive footballer. Shame on SG if he is overlooked this season after successful loan at Portsmouth.

20 Jun 2020 16:19:31
McCrorie is not the answer for me. He still has a lot to learn if he is going to make it at Ibrox. He has only been playing well at Portsmouth at right back. Perhaps that is a position he can challenge for? As for kamara, if we could sell him and make a decent amount of money I would be delighted. He loses concentration and goes missing in games, he has ability but is not consistent. Davis is past his sell by date. Against Aberdeen he couldn't cope with their rough tactics. Jack is ok but he needs someone better alomgside him so that he can go forward at times knowing that he has cover.
Oh for a Souness or a Roberts.

20 Jun 2020 16:19:40
Good post Copland bear.

20 Jun 2020 19:24:51
I remember watching mccrorie a couple of seasons ago. He was playing defensive midfielder. I thought he did well, fit, strong.
He played 31 games, played in Europe.
He can certainly play in the Scottish premiership.
Not sure SG rates him though, no idea why.

20 Jun 2020 19:51:30
This guy covers the ground according to stats no idea what he's like though.
Would agree about the goals Copland we need all players chipping in with goals take the pressure off the forwards.
Think teams lost the fear of playing us after Christmas best way to get that back is to be ruthless.

20 Jun 2020 20:51:26
Mccrorie still needs to develop in 1 position. SG and GM need to decide where they see him position wise and get him playing in that position.

20 Jun 2020 23:00:04
McCrorie was a stand out when we beat Celtic at ibrox playing in dm. I would still be looking to strengthen any areas of our squad but to dismiss the job young Ross can do in that position is a bit of an oversight. Remember when he played at cb against Celtic folk were moaning he's never a cb and then singing his praises whilst playing dm. A big unit, quick, athletic, loves a challenge, gets what it means, why wouldn't folk give him a chance?

21 Jun 2020 06:45:34
Why would a Strong defensive midfielder be suggestive weā€™re going into a back 3? Lmao šŸ˜‚ Could be a 4-1-3-2 counter attacking formation, a 4-2-1-3 a 4-3-3 ( most commonly needing a strong anchorman with good long and short passing skills ) , a 5-2-3, (allowing fullbacks to push forward, ) a 5-3ā€“2, a 4-1-4ā€“1, I just canā€™t see why u can deduce itā€™s looking like a back 3 if weā€™re looking at a cdm lol šŸ˜‚.

19 Jun 2020 11:38:49
I read we are being linked with Dion mcghee who is a bosman from Manchester United having turned down a contract. 19 year old midfield player. I haven't seen him but my father in law is a huge united fan and thinks this boy could come into our first team squad.

19 Jun 2020 14:53:14
Another youngster when are we actually going to get linked to a name we know this is becoming a farce the amount of youngsters we are trying to sign we have 1 more chance to stop 10 in a row so 3 and 4 years time for these players is no use.

19 Jun 2020 15:41:35
Have faith Stiv there ll be a few fire sales to come.

19 Jun 2020 15:55:46
Stigno 19 year olds play first team and international football.

19 Jun 2020 15:59:07
Now is the time to hoover up all the young talent we can, and if it can be done as early as possible thatā€™s better, bigger money deals will usually drag on and take longer to happen.

19 Jun 2020 16:04:24
Just because some people dream up names to link us with, it doesn't mean we are actually pursuing them, Stiv. It's on here because it's a rumour, nothing more. I'm sure that when the time is right the management will do what they've been doing all along, keeping the real targets close to their chest then revealing them as signed players.

19 Jun 2020 16:31:28
The unwashed signed frimpong on similar deals and he done well for their first team.

19 Jun 2020 19:43:37
It's a total shambles do yous honestly think players like that are going to stop 10 get a grip we need better than that and stop with the blue tinted glasses and wake up. the standard of player we are trying to sign is nowhere near goid enough it's been proven year in year out not even close to being good enough but yous all live in a fantasy world where Gerrard and recruitment team can do no wrong look at signings over last 2 years and compare who's made it and who hasn't il give you 10 right off the cuff who has been shocking Barker Ejaria Ojo Sadiq Flanagan Hastie not given a chance but hardly an inspired signing Jones hasn't worked so far although has ability no doubt letting Candeias go after ommiting him from Euro squad no wonder he asked to leave not signing another striker at start of last season so going into a season with 2 strikers 1 of whom guarantees to miss at 7 games a season because if suspension then we have Lafferty Polster Andy King I mean who is actually sanctioning this it's a shambles and that's harsh truth on matter.

19 Jun 2020 20:53:20
Who would you like us to be signing stiv65?šŸ¤”
We've signed hagi and a lad from Leicester.
Everyone else have been rumours, this is a rumours site, so folk are responding to these rumours.
Maybe wait and see who actually signs before going off on one? šŸ˜‰.

19 Jun 2020 20:53:21
How many has SG and RW? actually think this pairing could work cz the bloody last 1 didnt- clearly.

19 Jun 2020 21:06:34
Stiv its not 10
We ve improved year on year look a t Europe
We don't have a well of money
We had them before Xmas
No team in the world has 100% success rate with signings
As I said in earlier post we need to wait on the fire sales of other clubs to get the best value and buy when the market is low
Give Wilson and bisgrove a chance not long in post.

19 Jun 2020 21:24:14
I have to agree with stiv65 here there have been more bad signings than good, Iā€™d have to add Kent to that list given what he done and his price tag, grezda was a disaster, Greg Stewart is a decent player but never given a chance Helander has done nothing for us so far, we need to move some of these guys on and sign some genuine experienced talent. 4-5 top players are miles better than 8-10 diddys but probably cost around the same money we definitely need to be smarter with signings.

19 Jun 2020 23:20:27
Been a few shockers in recent seasons tbh from SG and Pedro.

This is big summer and hopefully we turn disaster of C.V. into a positive and find some real gems.

20 Jun 2020 00:37:11
This lad has been in the man its academy since he was 8 and united wanted to keep him. Have competition from EPL and also Portugal with both Porto and benfica being linked. Stiv65 this is the market we should be in. Get the cross border bosma for fraction of the value. English clubs have been doing it to us for years. Celtic have been using this system buying young talent and selling at profits and had a few success stories with dembele, ntcham and the young RB frimpong and to an extent edouard. If they are good enough they are old enough.
I would get used to this tactic as it is our business strategy. Young players with huge potential, develop them and sell on at big profits with sell on clause. Just need bit of luck. Think if Wilson can be as effective with us as he was for Southampton we have a bright future. We could through money to stop 10 or could bring these talents in and dominate for way longer than 10 years.

20 Jun 2020 09:36:27
Have to agree Bellshill, we need to be in the mix for these young British academy players as the English translation are looking at the best academy youngsters from abroad rather than focusing on their own, hence why they are all going to Germany, Portugal etc and rangers need to make it as attractive as possible for these players to choose rangers as a viable path.

In terms of our signings I think you can see we have had a load of rubbish for years and Mark Allan was the one who has done the most of these deals. Grezda, Barker, Jones, Sadiq etc

The ones Gerrard's accountable for are Ejaria, Ojo, Flanagan

Helander was looking immense when he got injured in the final so you can not state he has been a bad signing. Same with Kent big fee and when we were playing well and winning he was great but when we went off the boil he suffered as did everyone in the squad.

Rangers are looking at 4 first team players but also looking at back filing the gaps in production line in the academy within certain age groups, due to the lack of investment in the youth post 2017. The academy will start to produce but due to these issues we need to be creative and Benin for the best players within the age groups where we are packing potential players that are good enough but also ready (that is a big thing as us fans can kill and youngster in less than 20 mins of footy)

20 Jun 2020 09:58:48
I agree Detm1988. The lower divisions are full of players who had "potential". Not every young player can handle the pressure. When the team suffers they suffer more.

20 Jun 2020 10:05:39
shagger69, I sent your last post on to Bletchley Park, they are going to get back to me.

20 Jun 2020 10:31:45
Detmcclane while I agree with some of your points it has to be said the bringing youth players through to the first team is super difficult there are 100 reasons why a top top young player wonā€™t make it as a pro most donā€™t! Iā€™ve lost count of the players I grew up with, I watched my nephew playing against and now my son playing against that I thought had the ability to go all the way and 99.9% donā€™t itā€™s a dangerous game to put all our eggs in that basket and I know we wonā€™t a blend of youth and experience is essential but it would be nice to see a top player that we know will make a difference get a mention. bellshilllad to say that going down this route could mean us dominating for more than 10 years is utter nonsense once weā€™re properly back on our feet and win a title I very much doubt anyone will go on a run of even 3-4 titles never mind 10 that mob wouldnā€™t be anywhere near it if it hadnā€™t been for our collapse in 2012.

20 Jun 2020 14:28:51
If good enough their old enough. With exception of McCrorie none of our own young ones are good enough.

21 Jun 2020 14:17:55
I agree with your first part Bankie. However, IMO there are a few players from the academy that have a good chance of being part of the first team. For example, Nathan Patterson looked good when he played last year. There are others that will come good. Otherwise why have rangers invested so heavily in the academy?

21 Jun 2020 14:59:40
Some young players take longer than others to reach there potential. Some never will. Sink or swim. Not every young player is a Barry ferguson or Ian Durrant. SG will have to decide who is ready for the First Team Squad.

18 Jun 2020 23:28:52
I see Gerrard strongly hinting at new signings coming in! Well I am happy to admit I may have got that one wrong, let's hope so šŸ¤ Can't help thinking we must also be moving some out at the same time, we'll see.

19 Jun 2020 10:26:37
Hi Muppet,

I think that we forget how many players we actually have on the books and therefore how many we are letting go of that maybe fly under the radar.

Someone mentioned before the release of Pena and Herrera freeing up wages which is true. But there are more to consider.

Already left/ going - Foderingham, Alnwick, Flanagan, Halliday, Rossiter, Holt, Ojo, Kamberi.

So that's 8 spaces and 8 more wages (whether we paid some or all of these) before we let any more go. Having said that we most likely will let more go. Not because we are skint but it just makes sense and we need to make sense financially and for our future youth coming through.

I reckon we will still see 2 or 3 of the following go - Jones, Middleton, Murphy, Barker and Hastie.
Also things will come to a head this window or next for Barjonas and/ or Docherty.

This gives us at least 10 bodies out. Having only brought in 2 first team players.

19 Jun 2020 10:40:32
Of those mentioned as possibly going the only one I would like to see stay is Murphy since I still believe that he can do a job for us. I suspect that Middleton and Hastie will go back out on loan and being blunt, I don't think we would miss any of the others including Barjonas and Docherty. We do however need to bring in players of a significantly higher standard than those leaving.

19 Jun 2020 10:56:10
Get rid of Goldson and Kamara also. That will bring in some transfer funds.

19 Jun 2020 11:02:09
Ross Wilson ang SG are doing a lot of work behind the scenes. I am expecting a couple of blue chip signings. Hopefully, very soon.

19 Jun 2020 11:03:46
Hopefully we'll get Kamberi back on a permanent dealšŸ‘.

19 Jun 2020 12:11:11
I agree get kamberi back in, good squad player.

19 Jun 2020 12:22:54
Keep jones docherty middleton latter 2 prob o out on loan

Sell or release murphy hastie barker goldson

Katic i think is our best cb
Get another top striker in
Kamberi would just be a squad player others would be put in front of him same as jones but still think there more to come from jones.

19 Jun 2020 12:31:05
INTR, I agree about Katic, imagine what he would be like if he had someone like Davie Weir to sort out his positioning.

19 Jun 2020 12:55:11
Katic will get better with experience. A no nonsense defender like Helander beside him help matters.

19 Jun 2020 14:50:55
Coldo have to disagree I hope kamberi doesnā€™t come back he just isnā€™t good enough.

19 Jun 2020 15:54:33
Kamberi could do a turn for us! he's not a first choice striker but wouldn't be a bad signing.

19 Jun 2020 18:51:43
Agreeing pretty much with all comments above. Iā€™m still unsure about Jones, he played well for Ireland and is definitely a decent player, like to see him again this season injury free think he has something to give. Seems Gerrard was very confident about the signings and Iā€™m sure he has a definite or two already lined up which makes me wonder if Tapia is coming. What you think?

19 Jun 2020 23:22:04
Kamberi would be an easy decision for me.

I'd also agree with the comment on how many players we have on books. We have about 8 central midfielders and only 1 or 2 are good / consistent enough and if truth be told even those two wouldn't make a real Rangers team.

We need to rid the deadwood and bring in quality.

20 Jun 2020 00:04:26
I agree. Get rid of the deadwood but some are happy to pick up wages until there contract runs out. We do not want to return to the position of paying players to leave.

20 Jun 2020 02:58:18
Not good enough? He was our best player.

20 Jun 2020 00:47:10
From what I hear from a friend SG isn't happy with wide options. Hastie and Middleton will head out on loan and if suitable deals barker Jones and Murphy will all be moved on. 2 new wide men will come in. If possible polster will move on if we get a suitable replacement cover RB. 1 GK will be brought in with mccrorie twins both heading back out on loans, GK one will be challenging for no1 season starting 2021
There could be first team players sold with morelos (SG wants to keep but some offers are too good to turn down) and tav possible exits. Toney from English league 1 will come in weather morelos stays or goes. Look for us to use the likes of Patterson, Kennedy, kelly and other youth players when needed as they are getting closer to first team.
