Record reporting that Pena is off. Apparently he has been in breach if contract and will leave without a pay off. Great news if true.

Eastcoastblue22

1.) 29 Jan 2019 19:56:17
Carlos Pena is set to be freed,
His contract terminated via mutual consent, losing Rangers around £3M.

2.) 29 Jan 2019 20:08:54
Is that £3m the wages to date and transfer fee? Like eastcoast the only reports I've found have said he is away with no pay.

3.) 30 Jan 2019 01:19:23
We lose the fee we paid for him which some say is £3m as we are sacking him so cannot sell him and no one would pay money for him anyway.

4.) 30 Jan 2019 09:07:13
Some Mexican drinks distillery will over him a job as a taster.

5.) 30 Jan 2019 09:40:09
If true that is probably best outcome for us and frees up his wages for next 18 months.

6.) 30 Jan 2019 12:55:13
Agree bankie, reports indicate wages next 18 month would be a million and a half.
Use it to get in someone who will add quality.

7.) 30 Jan 2019 13:40:08
Pena will be leaving us with a payoff as soon as he signed into a rehab his drinking became an illness and that makes it virtually impossible to sack for gross misconduct.

8.) 30 Jan 2019 14:01:58
Thebear how do u know it's to do with drink.

9.) 30 Jan 2019 20:08:54
If we’re paying off his contract at 20k a week then that’s roughly about £1.5 mill.

10.) 30 Jan 2019 21:51:05
if we sacked him standby for another lawsuit.

11.) 30 Jan 2019 22:34:29
I would doubt if we are releasing him and paying him off. If he is free to sign for someone else, we lose a fee and he gets wages from his new club. There maybe some pay off but won’t be his contract for the next 18 months.

Just saw the Matt polster is in Spain with the team.

1.) 08 Jan 2019 20:12:06

2.) 08 Jan 2019 21:02:16
Apparently a right back.

3.) 08 Jan 2019 21:24:36
They are welcome to him. Wasn't good enough for us.

4.) 08 Jan 2019 21:25:29
Read that Celtic are going to hijack move for the other one. It was in the sun. Heard anything ED?

{Ed033's Note - The other one? Andrew Gutman?

5.) 08 Jan 2019 21:33:14
We already have 2 rb lol inless one off them are going an there gona give your man a deal.

6.) 08 Jan 2019 22:02:15
Hope he isn’t a replacement for tav.

7.) 08 Jan 2019 22:12:22
Good player but very one footed.

8.) 08 Jan 2019 23:20:16
Ye Gutman Ed that’s the one.

{Ed033's Note - don't know

02 Dec 2018 16:19:33
See that apparently Forrest are looking at Worrals contract to see if they are able to recall him in January. Fingers crossed.

Eastcoastblue22

1.) 02 Dec 2018 19:03:13
Big man's a player in the making still learning his trade.

2.) 02 Dec 2018 20:38:19
Problem is if Worral was to return to Nottingham Forest in January who does SG sign to replace him?

3.) 03 Dec 2018 08:40:02
Craig Halkett?

4.) 03 Dec 2018 11:26:01

Dominic Solanke 20 £25,000 4 Years (2022)

taken from Liverpool players 2018-19.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know where you got that rubbish from but it is wrong.}

5.) 03 Dec 2018 14:30:56
Ed1. What is your source, what are you so confident Solanke is on £50,000 plus a week. I find it very hard to believe someone with next to no first team experience albeit with a good youth team pedigree is on that sort of money. Accept he would have received a significant one off signing on fee when he signed for Liverpool.

{Ed001's Note - I never said 50k plus. My source is from within the club and you clearly have no idea how much youth team players are being paid in the Prem these days. There are players with no first team experience earning 40k a week at Premier league teams.}

6.) 03 Dec 2018 14:45:54
Ed1 perhaps under very exceptional circumstances at Man City and Chelsea but not at Liverpool (for a lad that was not at outstanding youth success at Chelsea) . Value your comments but believe your wide of the mark on this one.

{Ed001's Note - you really have no idea, Liverpool are amongst the highest payers of youth players, Arsenal were actually the highest payers, not Chelsea or City. Though that is skewed because Wenger liked to have near parity for players within the first team squad, no matter the age or experience. By the way, his wage was higher to persuade him to join, Klopp actually made an especial effort to convince him, including tapping up the lad, which is still causing a few problems for Liverpool now. Liverpool have paid over the odds to a number of youngsters tempted from other teams, it is why they join.}

7.) 03 Dec 2018 15:49:45
I wish Ed001 you had as much no how on the Gers as you do about Liverpool? 🤯✌️🇬🇧.

{Ed001's Note - so do I mate.}

8.) 03 Dec 2018 16:13:55
Ed001, thanks for your comments, as usual very informative. When Solanke failed to agree terms with Chelsea he was said to be on £7000 and we know he would receive a substantial base increase and signing on fee when joining Liverpool. My understanding is he received a very significant six figure signing on fee and agreed a basic weekly wage significantly lower than you are suggesting. Anyway our interest here is whether he may come to us on loan in January. You have stated he is too expensive and is not good enough for the Gers. IMO he will join us on loan in January for second half of the season. Let’s see.

{Ed001's Note - I hope he does join you as he is never going to be good enough for Liverpool and I would be glad to get him off the wage bill.

There is an issue here, you seem to think signing on payments are separate from wages. The signing on fee is paid throughout the course of the contract as part of the salary. For instance, James Milner is actually being paid around £150k a week, because of the signing bonus. Solanke is being paid over £40k, which is in large part made up of signing bonus paid over the course of his contract. That is still seen as part of the salary for the club who has the player.}

9.) 03 Dec 2018 17:11:37
Ed you are right, the signing on fee isn’t lump sum. It’s an addition to the base wage.
The only part a wage which will fluctuate is goal bonus, unused sub fee, clean sheet fee etc.

I know a boy who a few years back made a name in Scottish football, got a move and made a number or appearances for Celtic, some of those games were in the Champions League and at the time he just won a Scotland cap. He went to sign for Middlesbrough and the club asked what he was looking for financially.
When he told them what he wanted the Middlesbrough board laughed and offered him multiple times what he asked for. When he challenged it the board said “you asked for what our youth players earn yet you are a Celtic regular with Champions League expand Scotland caps”

The youth guys down south are on thousands upon thousands a week!

{Ed001's Note - it has gotten ridiculous, which is why there are talks about setting a wage cap on youth team players.}

10.) 03 Dec 2018 17:59:12
I didn’t know there were plans to do that but the FA need to do something! The same guy I speak about above told me that when Musonda joined Celtic last year he was on £45k a week at Chelsea! This despite never playing a game for them! It’s absolutely incredible.

{Ed001's Note - there are a couple of 17 year old kids that are being paid £40k a week that I know of. It is scary.}

11.) 04 Dec 2018 14:27:31
Now you know why we couldn't hold on to young Billy Gilmour.

12.) 04 Dec 2018 16:24:07
Yes there manager says due to injury they want him back. He is ok but has made it clear he does not want to stay.
Goldston and McCauley safe again today.

13.) 04 Dec 2018 16:38:00
Gilmour on 10k at Chelsea, this includes signing fee, which he only got on turning 17.

Andy Little has retired at just 29. Good servant for the club in my opinion when we went down. I would have kept him when he was let go. Was he not working with our youth for a while?

One of the 4 who stayed loyal. They should all get a testimonial.

If you wanted to play in England, but a Turkish club offered to double your salary (example only) would you wait for a move that may never happen or go for the £££s? I know what I would do.

He has a big choice to make about the starting 11. Marelos over Defoe for me, but £65k a week to sit on the bench? Madness. And the signings even Sutton got stuck into done the deeds for them. Hate to say it but game over.

That is of course if he doesn't sign a pre contract with someone else.

Odds only slashed as people are putting money on it. If we all went to the bookies and put £££s on Ronaldo to join us, the odds would get slashed.

It looks like they are suggesting a pre contract agreement in January, not actually buying him. If it's not just paper talk of course.

As frustrated as I am, we have no divine right to beat anybody, and they are the form team of last year. There will be more bumps this season for all the top 4 making the most exciting season for a long time.

He scored a winner for his team, and celebrated with his manager who has stuck by him. He's more than welcome to celebrate like that in my eyes.

I've read about the possible scenarios of players after brexit. I assume they will be treated like all other who will need to be an international to receive a permit? The FA had asked for special rules for it not to affect players. Almost smell their fear of the resultant best league in the world (which I don't agree with) becoming no more.
