Been saying it for sometime- without arfield we are extremely toothless.

1.) 17 Feb 2019 07:51:23
spot on Gers09

I know we are a completely diff team without fredo but Arfieids influence is also huge.

SA sets the tempo for our pressing game and the number of assists he has and things he creates in final 1/ 3 is massive for us - he links middle to front really well for us which I had hoped Davo wld do but he looks miles off pace at the mo.

2.) 17 Feb 2019 15:40:03
Arfield should 100% be our captain. I don't know if you noticed but in the game with the 4 penalties when everyone was fighting over the ball like daft wee boys - including our "captain" - as soon as Arfield stepped in everyone shut up and did as they were told. Whether it was through fear or respect I have no idea, either will do me!

06 Jan 2019 21:48:55
Steven Davis confirmed 👌🏻 . What a piece of business and welcome home.
Re 6 month contract would anyone give up 48 k per week - rangers paying 12 k of the reported 60k weekly wage. If he (when) shows his worth rangers will then sign him up long term.

04 Jan 2019 22:29:00
A few on here don t think morelos will be sold - I beg to differ, no way is Defoe coming to rangers to sit in the bench, he could do that at Bournemouth. No way morelos will be left to rot on bench - way too big an asset. I would wager he is already sold and money will be used to strengthen the whole squad.

1.) 05 Jan 2019 00:21:33
Or maybe we could have a front 2 of Morelos and Defoe which would put the frighteners up every defense in Scotland - Morelos will fire us to 55 then he can head to the prem and we can cash the cheque.

2.) 05 Jan 2019 00:45:51
Well papers are saying Gerrard been told he will not be sold this window.

3.) 05 Jan 2019 01:09:58
the 2 of them can play in the same team.

4.) 05 Jan 2019 09:22:15
Think Morelos has the legs and hold up play to be the perfect foil for Defoe if Gerrard decides to go with the two of them. Could end up a successful partnership.

5.) 05 Jan 2019 09:49:13
He will definitely go at some point but I would imagine we wouldn’t want to build up his value first.
He’s already worth more than ten times what we paid but with another 6 months and potentially 30 odd goals he will be worth a lot more.
Should be keeping him until at least the end of the season.

6.) 05 Jan 2019 11:13:05
Gers team v everyone apart from tims
Tav. Goldson. Worrell. Barasic
Davis. Arfield
Defoe. Morelos.

7.) 05 Jan 2019 11:14:31
For me they both have to play, no way either of them are benched, for me Morelos stays, so 2 up top, then the headache of picking midfielders, davis and airfield first on team sheet. give me your preferred formation and starting 11.

8.) 05 Jan 2019 12:05:45
Defoe is a more direct target man and Morelos flits about like a panther/ predator - I think the two of them will be great together and going by the respect and applauds Defoe is receiving from all down south he will be the perfect mentor for Morelos.

I am so happy to see Jones and Kamara come to us - Jones will be much better with good players around him and Kamara already looks the part - but he will have to give up his Sky Reporting job?

9.) 05 Jan 2019 12:43:48
I don't think he will be sold, Gerrard has stated he wants 3 in every position so the players compete for their places. that's 3 strikers now. 2 right backs, 4 centre halfs (5 if you include mccrorrie) 3 left wingers, 2 right wingers, 2 left backs ( if you include halliday) and i don't even want to try and count midfielders off the top of my head. i'm sure we have the americans that got offered contracts but haven't heard they signed yet. one of them is a right back.

10.) 05 Jan 2019 12:54:05
Morelos at some will be sold but not this window.

11.) 05 Jan 2019 13:57:43
@true blue defoe a target man? Are u on drugs mate the guy is 5ft7. Lafferty is a target man but sure can see defoe out jumping 6ft2 + Cbs all year long.

12.) 05 Jan 2019 14:18:59
He is a penalty box player - so is a target man - you don't have to be 6' whatever to be a target man.

13.) 05 Jan 2019 14:59:12
Definition of a target man is a tall striker you can play long balls to with view of winning majority of headers.

Look at it this way was mccoist a target man? no he was a penalty box poacher and defoe is in this mould however hateley was the definition of a target man whom mccoist fed off.

14.) 05 Jan 2019 15:33:50
Tell that to Maradona; Messi and Ronaldo.

15.) 05 Jan 2019 16:00:34
None of whom were target men, True Blue.

16.) 05 Jan 2019 17:40:25
SG has only played 4-3-3, hence my comment on one of them missing out . Only changes to 2 up top when we are chasing the game - as I said no chance either will be sitting in the bench . I predict he will be sold last couple of days of the window and we will bring in another forward who will be happy being a squad player. Morelos value never been so high and SG playing a blinder talking him up and subsequently adding value.

17.) 05 Jan 2019 19:03:38
Maradona messi nor cr7 are target men and all played in proper footballing teams. Now hateley, dzeko, carroll and crouch are proper target men. not the greatest scoring records but their for a reason. To be targeted with long balls which they win for the small guy to score with.
Not that hard to understand and even the other mob appear to be desperate for a target man in the mould of hartson or sutton.

18.) 05 Jan 2019 19:07:34
Just thought I would put this across

"The term "target man" is often used to describe a particular type of striker whose main role is to win high balls in the air and create chances for other members of the team (not necessarily scoring many goals themselves) . [5] These players are usually tall and physically strong, being adept at heading the ball. "

19.) 06 Jan 2019 01:43:25
Rabc that’s got right under your skin eh 😆 even though I agree that Defoe is not a target man I think you’re wrong about target men Morelos for example is a target man he wins the ball holds it up brings others in to play and also scores goals he’s only 5,9 and players like drogba and ibrahimovic big target men have been prolific goal scores at the highest level, I get what you’re saying but the games moved on very few teams play with 2 strikers and even less play with a big target man and a poacher. McCoist and Hateley was 30 odd year ago 😆.

06 Dec 2018 20:59:50
No need to over react to last night, however can’t understand why flannigan continues at l/b and midfield trio were to defensive. The less said about morelos the better.
Need to add a left back, attacking midfielder and a striker in January window, I feel he may sell a couple to achieve this, Wes and tav would be likely candidates. Still 2nd in the league and lots to be positive about . Could be back on top this Sunday 👊🏻.

1.) 07 Dec 2018 04:35:33
We’ve got a left back Barisic agree with other 2.

2.) 07 Dec 2018 10:48:36
I've been Flanagans biggest critic this season but I didn't think he did much wrong on Wednesday. There were other players far more deserving of a substitution.

3.) 07 Dec 2018 11:08:57
Flanagan was ok, easy target for fans. The halftime sub was tactical, as they were down to ten.
Also I do believe he gets in in front of Halliday as he is on a basic wage with a payment when he plays.

4.) 07 Dec 2018 11:48:40
Why would that put him in front of Halliday?

5.) 07 Dec 2018 12:54:11
Halliday has been great at LB this season, so I was surprised that Flanagan got on the team sheet infront of him! Is that not twice now that Flanagan has been subbed early due to poor performance on the left? Now don't get me wrong, I don't blame him at all as he is being played out of position.

6.) 07 Dec 2018 14:35:38
Parky because manager picks him.

7.) 07 Dec 2018 16:03:01
Halliday 'great' at LB? He's been honest and tried his best, and while not awful, if that's 'great' we're in real trouble.

8.) 08 Dec 2018 07:36:24
Need to play wallace.

08 Nov 2018 21:25:00
Absolutely naive defensive display tonight. Somehow leading 3-2 at halftime . See the game out . Change to 4-2-3-1, and see if we can counter. Edjaria and coulibaly were shocking, unable to play a forward pass, one spends his whole time going round in circles and the other can’t pass. 45 mins away from almost guaranteed qualifying and blew it. I love SG but a more experienced manager would have ensured we wouldn’t have lost the game.

1.) 09 Nov 2018 07:39:47
Thought defensively we were very poor and maybe it is time to give McAuley a start against Motherwell.

13 Mar 2019 16:47:05
Our failure to break teams down is down to the lack of a runner from midfield who gets beyond the striker . When arfield is on song we are a different team - he is clearly injured at the moment and playing through the pain. Summer recruitment will be key. We also look to be running on empty I would be inclined to give mcrorie halliday Middleton Defoe, Lafferty more game time til the end of season - let’s face it morelos will be gone, on the back of his last two performances he already is 😱 .

1.) 14 Mar 2019 00:31:37
It's also put inability to hit first time passes or shots. Other than Arfield who is great at one touch football everyone else needs 5 touches of the ball before they play a pass or take a shot.

2.) 14 Mar 2019 05:54:18
Scotty arfield would always be in my team for the reasons you state Theswagman.

3.) 14 Mar 2019 07:31:43
Watch the last 8 games. We have very seldom attempted a direct shot on goal without taking a touch. When we do it we give other players the chance to follow up and have another shot on goal but we don't seem to believe in our abilities to strike at goal this way. Creative play folks, we don't have it within our current line up. Without wee Kent we would be trying to walk the ball into the net. Just an opinion but its what i'm seeing from week to week at the games.

4.) 14 Mar 2019 10:26:31
Kent is one of the problems, holds ball too long and always turns into trouble. Needs to get to bye line more.

12 Mar 2019 10:47:01
You think mcgregors decision to retire and anything to do with his recent ban 🤔.

1.) 12 Mar 2019 11:59:47
Thinking that myself Gers09 but he is playing over 50 games a season so time to rest more between games I suppose.

2.) 12 Mar 2019 12:35:05
Playing a lot of games, may have helped his decision.
About time we extended his contract, expires 1/ 6/ 20.

3.) 12 Mar 2019 14:12:29
I personally feel it is related. Decent cover up going on from SFA - will come out in the wash one day . McLeish was asked the very question two weeks ago and he felt the recent ban wouldn’t have a baring. He knows he’s lost his best keeper to the idiots on the disciplinary panel.

4.) 12 Mar 2019 17:21:58
I think his decision is probably related. and who can blame him. The SFA call and punishment on the incident was pathetic.

09 Mar 2019 17:59:36
People questioning why we would be interested in signing shinnie - last night was another example of the lack of leadership within our squad . Game should have been out of sight but yet again for the umpteenth time this season we let the opposition equalise. Whilst we are shopping in the north east I would also pick up McKenna and spend the next coupe Of months scouting a no10 and a replacement for morelos.

1.) 09 Mar 2019 18:37:07
I have been saying for ages that we need a leader.

2.) 09 Mar 2019 18:38:46
Still don't think we'll sign shinnie and i won't change my mind from the fact, that i don't think we need him.

3.) 09 Mar 2019 18:40:13
For me shinnie is a good player for Aberdeen but is he any better than what we currently have we have jack mccorie kamara rossiter coulibaly who can all play in that position in centre of park.
Do we really need to add another defensive minded player in the middle of the park i would say no.
Unless we use him as a left back i don't think we need him in the team.
We should look to trim the squad in the summer and use some of our younger players as backup players this would allow us to free up wages to sign better first team players.

4.) 09 Mar 2019 18:57:15
If he was to sign, I'd imagine it would be to improve the overall squad. I mind a lot of folk questioned the signing of jack. He turned out okay. Don't think it is a big risk to sign shinnie, he wouldn't need a crazy wage. It would make the sheep weaker and raging as well.

5.) 09 Mar 2019 20:01:54
How can you say we don't need a player like shinnie when half our own team don't have half the bottle he has? 🙃👍.

6.) 10 Mar 2019 00:14:11
Graeme shinnie wouldn't have helped last night, it's more help putting the ball in the net we need.

7.) 10 Mar 2019 09:00:42
Trueblue, I've been saying for ages, WE HAVE A LEADER he's called Gerrard, if he had wanted to close the game down he would have and should have. Its not down to the captain to decide when to stop the full backs bombing forward its down to the manager. If Mcrorie was on the bench then there is the substitution right there Arfield for Mcrorie and if they equalise with that formation put Defoe on then.
Our manager has no tactics at all and I defy anyone on here to tell me i'm wrong.

8.) 10 Mar 2019 09:05:08
Davis, Coulibaly, Dorrans, Holt and probably Rossiter out, Shinnie and Docherty in.

9.) 10 Mar 2019 13:26:11
i guarantee if we signed Shinnie he would get redcarded every game in a rangers top.

10.) 10 Mar 2019 18:46:34
No sure how many time i have to say McKenna has no interest in joining Rangers. The money they wsnt for him we also cannot afford him.

06 Feb 2019 22:39:41
What is it with managers having a say on our players. Absolutely shocking behaviour . As SG said earlier in the week it lacks class - concentrate on your own team and stop trying to influence the authorities. Mcinnes has shown why he will never be good enough to be our manager.

1.) 06 Feb 2019 23:09:37
Up until he spoke about further action against macgregor I actual thought he was speaking well. Not blaming refs or the like. But I didn’t like that comment.

2.) 06 Feb 2019 23:37:31
Finty - he was very clever, praise morelos but then ensured he made a statement on the red card should stand. He knows morelos out for 3 games will hurt us and give them an opportunity to close the gap. Calculated.

24 Jan 2019 09:00:12
Shape has to be 4-3-3 . Mcgregor, tav, goldson, new Centre half, barisic / Halliday.
Midfield of jack, Davis, arfield, Kent, candias - striker morelos / Defoe on rotation
Only way to fit morelos and Defoe in the same team is a 3-5-2 and we don’t have the defenders who can do this.

1.) 24 Jan 2019 09:50:56
Defoe and Morelos could play in a flat 4-4-2 (one of the centre mids drop out) or a 4-4-2 diamond (the wingers need to drop out) or like you say a 3-5-2 (again the wingers drop out) I think it’s a case of the wrong players picked last night. Big Katic will make mistakes but he is ours and he will develop and for that reason I’d have him alongside Goldson, it would be different if Worrall was playing well consistently but he isn’t and I also like the fact Katic can bring the ball out and charges forward, teams hate that as it pulls their shape all over the place as they don’t know who should go to challenge. I fully trust he gaffer to sort things out.

I posted this in the window and was shot down in flames . He’s the type of player the manager referred to last week - a leader . Would be a welcome addition.

Coldo - pictures doing the rounds showing there was contact on morelos face . He is lucky McKenna didn’t make full contact or he would still be out cold .

6counties-😂 do you do stand up . Not very good - only involved in 31 goals this season and only behind Messi / Mbappe. You right, imagine not being above those two 😜
HES WORTH 30m dembelle dollars 💵.

Didn’t make the grade 🤔 - he was a young lad who went elsewhere to gain first team experience and game time. Was the best defender on the pitch today - looked assured and wasn’t slow barking orders at all around him.

Called it a while ago, looked assured. No idea why we are developing worrell who has no intentions of staying- this lad could be picked up cheaply and would instantly become our best defender. Only issue is he is right sided as is goldson.

If the rumours are true, the manager will know what role shinnie will play - I personally feel it will be as left back, however will also give us midfield cover . I cannot take time hose on here seriously wanting windas back, he was an imposter and thought he was a player. No doubt he had talent but another who will never make the most of what he has . What’s the modern terminology- snowflake!

Tommyrangers/ supercooper - windass rose tinted Specs or what - he was single fish - thought he was a Player and turned up for 16 mins in each game . Never stopped running 🤯 - I will default to our managers position rather than listening to that rubbish. And to claim that shinnie isn’t better than what we have is naive. I have seen him twice in recent weeks be the best player in the midfield area again take off the specs. Bottom line is mcinnes knows how to play us and SG will have to work out how to change it.

Agree with super, barisc is a waste of a Jersey, looks weak, always needs a touch and doesn’t do the simple overlap enough . I would want Halliday all day long in a battle like today . SG knew today would be a battle hence Davis not in the squad.
