Steven Davis confirmed 👌🏻 . What a piece of business and welcome home.
Re 6 month contract would anyone give up 48 k per week - rangers paying 12 k of the reported 60k weekly wage. If he (when) shows his worth rangers will then sign him up long term.

04 Jan 2019 22:29:00
A few on here don t think morelos will be sold - I beg to differ, no way is Defoe coming to rangers to sit in the bench, he could do that at Bournemouth. No way morelos will be left to rot on bench - way too big an asset. I would wager he is already sold and money will be used to strengthen the whole squad.

1.) 05 Jan 2019 00:21:33
Or maybe we could have a front 2 of Morelos and Defoe which would put the frighteners up every defense in Scotland - Morelos will fire us to 55 then he can head to the prem and we can cash the cheque.

2.) 05 Jan 2019 00:45:51
Well papers are saying Gerrard been told he will not be sold this window.

3.) 05 Jan 2019 01:09:58
the 2 of them can play in the same team.

4.) 05 Jan 2019 09:22:15
Think Morelos has the legs and hold up play to be the perfect foil for Defoe if Gerrard decides to go with the two of them. Could end up a successful partnership.

5.) 05 Jan 2019 09:49:13
He will definitely go at some point but I would imagine we wouldn’t want to build up his value first.
He’s already worth more than ten times what we paid but with another 6 months and potentially 30 odd goals he will be worth a lot more.
Should be keeping him until at least the end of the season.

6.) 05 Jan 2019 11:13:05
Gers team v everyone apart from tims
Tav. Goldson. Worrell. Barasic
Davis. Arfield
Defoe. Morelos.

7.) 05 Jan 2019 11:14:31
For me they both have to play, no way either of them are benched, for me Morelos stays, so 2 up top, then the headache of picking midfielders, davis and airfield first on team sheet. give me your preferred formation and starting 11.

8.) 05 Jan 2019 12:05:45
Defoe is a more direct target man and Morelos flits about like a panther/ predator - I think the two of them will be great together and going by the respect and applauds Defoe is receiving from all down south he will be the perfect mentor for Morelos.

I am so happy to see Jones and Kamara come to us - Jones will be much better with good players around him and Kamara already looks the part - but he will have to give up his Sky Reporting job?

9.) 05 Jan 2019 12:43:48
I don't think he will be sold, Gerrard has stated he wants 3 in every position so the players compete for their places. that's 3 strikers now. 2 right backs, 4 centre halfs (5 if you include mccrorrie) 3 left wingers, 2 right wingers, 2 left backs ( if you include halliday) and i don't even want to try and count midfielders off the top of my head. i'm sure we have the americans that got offered contracts but haven't heard they signed yet. one of them is a right back.

10.) 05 Jan 2019 12:54:05
Morelos at some will be sold but not this window.

11.) 05 Jan 2019 13:57:43
@true blue defoe a target man? Are u on drugs mate the guy is 5ft7. Lafferty is a target man but sure can see defoe out jumping 6ft2 + Cbs all year long.

12.) 05 Jan 2019 14:18:59
He is a penalty box player - so is a target man - you don't have to be 6' whatever to be a target man.

13.) 05 Jan 2019 14:59:12
Definition of a target man is a tall striker you can play long balls to with view of winning majority of headers.

Look at it this way was mccoist a target man? no he was a penalty box poacher and defoe is in this mould however hateley was the definition of a target man whom mccoist fed off.

14.) 05 Jan 2019 15:33:50
Tell that to Maradona; Messi and Ronaldo.

15.) 05 Jan 2019 16:00:34
None of whom were target men, True Blue.

16.) 05 Jan 2019 17:40:25
SG has only played 4-3-3, hence my comment on one of them missing out . Only changes to 2 up top when we are chasing the game - as I said no chance either will be sitting in the bench . I predict he will be sold last couple of days of the window and we will bring in another forward who will be happy being a squad player. Morelos value never been so high and SG playing a blinder talking him up and subsequently adding value.

17.) 05 Jan 2019 19:03:38
Maradona messi nor cr7 are target men and all played in proper footballing teams. Now hateley, dzeko, carroll and crouch are proper target men. not the greatest scoring records but their for a reason. To be targeted with long balls which they win for the small guy to score with.
Not that hard to understand and even the other mob appear to be desperate for a target man in the mould of hartson or sutton.

18.) 05 Jan 2019 19:07:34
Just thought I would put this across

"The term "target man" is often used to describe a particular type of striker whose main role is to win high balls in the air and create chances for other members of the team (not necessarily scoring many goals themselves) . [5] These players are usually tall and physically strong, being adept at heading the ball. "

19.) 06 Jan 2019 01:43:25
Rabc that’s got right under your skin eh 😆 even though I agree that Defoe is not a target man I think you’re wrong about target men Morelos for example is a target man he wins the ball holds it up brings others in to play and also scores goals he’s only 5,9 and players like drogba and ibrahimovic big target men have been prolific goal scores at the highest level, I get what you’re saying but the games moved on very few teams play with 2 strikers and even less play with a big target man and a poacher. McCoist and Hateley was 30 odd year ago 😆.

06 Dec 2018 20:59:50
No need to over react to last night, however can’t understand why flannigan continues at l/b and midfield trio were to defensive. The less said about morelos the better.
Need to add a left back, attacking midfielder and a striker in January window, I feel he may sell a couple to achieve this, Wes and tav would be likely candidates. Still 2nd in the league and lots to be positive about . Could be back on top this Sunday 👊🏻.

1.) 07 Dec 2018 04:35:33
We’ve got a left back Barisic agree with other 2.

2.) 07 Dec 2018 10:48:36
I've been Flanagans biggest critic this season but I didn't think he did much wrong on Wednesday. There were other players far more deserving of a substitution.

3.) 07 Dec 2018 11:08:57
Flanagan was ok, easy target for fans. The halftime sub was tactical, as they were down to ten.
Also I do believe he gets in in front of Halliday as he is on a basic wage with a payment when he plays.

4.) 07 Dec 2018 11:48:40
Why would that put him in front of Halliday?

5.) 07 Dec 2018 12:54:11
Halliday has been great at LB this season, so I was surprised that Flanagan got on the team sheet infront of him! Is that not twice now that Flanagan has been subbed early due to poor performance on the left? Now don't get me wrong, I don't blame him at all as he is being played out of position.

6.) 07 Dec 2018 14:35:38
Parky because manager picks him.

7.) 07 Dec 2018 16:03:01
Halliday 'great' at LB? He's been honest and tried his best, and while not awful, if that's 'great' we're in real trouble.

8.) 08 Dec 2018 07:36:24
Need to play wallace.

08 Nov 2018 21:25:00
Absolutely naive defensive display tonight. Somehow leading 3-2 at halftime . See the game out . Change to 4-2-3-1, and see if we can counter. Edjaria and coulibaly were shocking, unable to play a forward pass, one spends his whole time going round in circles and the other can’t pass. 45 mins away from almost guaranteed qualifying and blew it. I love SG but a more experienced manager would have ensured we wouldn’t have lost the game.

1.) 09 Nov 2018 07:39:47
Thought defensively we were very poor and maybe it is time to give McAuley a start against Motherwell.

15 Jan 2018 21:56:11
Chuffed with cummings signing and shows DOF / Murty taking bthe club in the right direction . No real chance of league however loan deals will see who is up for next season make and still a Scottish cup to play for .

1.) 16 Jan 2018 10:11:18
The chase is well and truly on and at 40/ 1 for the league its well worth a fiver - we are around 6/ 1 for the Scottish Cup

2.) 16 Jan 2018 14:09:08
Need to have a real go at both the league and cup with our new signings

3.) 16 Jan 2018 14:31:33
Let's calm down guys but yes I'm very impressed with the signings.

4.) 16 Jan 2018 17:24:44
Gutted we couldn’t scrape a goal in that last old firm game 8 points we would still have wee chance but 11 seems too much for this season. They would have to drop points at least twice with us winning for us to make it interesting but an old firm victory, finishing 2nd and winning Scottish Cup should be our targets for the end of the season.
If we could achieve 2/ 3 targets what would you pick and why?

5.) 16 Jan 2018 17:48:55
id take 2nd and the cup ahead of an old firm win mate. 2nd is needed for longer term goals which i'd value ahead of a one off game against them. with the added bonus of a scottish cup win meaning a trophy for us and the fact we beat them to it!

6.) 16 Jan 2018 20:57:16
Personally I’d take winning the cup and beating them in league. Winning the Cup gets us into Europa League and I think the 2nd qualifying round and stops back to back trebles.
Beating them would be a good statement for new squad an a Psychological blow to them which could help going into next season.

Once again the board and the managers have played a blinder . Bringing in two quality epl players that will undoubtably add quality to our title challenge.
I do feel morelos will leave in the window but I’m sure we won’t be turned over and will receive the market rate for him £12-15 m- I know this won’t be popular but it will give the manager the funds to build for the long term and enable him to afford Kent etc.
Still feel we need a number 10 to help create as when arfield has been missing we have really struggled- James Morrison has only has 6 months left! And could be worth a shout. Going to be an interesting transfer window 😜.

1.) 03 Jan 2019 22:52:49
Don’t think Morelos will be sold during window l think Defoe will more of a impact till he gets up to speed to many goals to lose if he goes.

2.) 04 Jan 2019 06:11:21
Think Morelos will stay. Defoe if anything will be used as stand in for any Buffalo dismissals, issues with injury etc. We need to keep Buffalo and 1 other as personally would prefer 4-4-2.

29 Dec 2018 23:16:41
What a difference a few days make - must admit I was fearing the worst today, however when I saw Kent and Arfield were back I knew we had a shout. Over the moon for Halliday he has taken stick from the unwashed and on here, yet he showed everyone on Wednesday and today that he deserves to play.
Big shout out to our manager, tactics spot on and if we had taken our chances would have embarrassed Celtic - I’m sure our chairman who also deserves a mention will carry on supporting and deliver another couple of players in January to continue the title challenge. Title challenge - how great does that sound! Happy new year to all when it comes. 🇬🇧.

1.) 30 Dec 2018 00:52:46
Quality post mate.

27 Dec 2018 18:00:41
Selling Morelos for approx £12 m might not be the worst thing. Lad has an excellent goal scoring record but I feel his temperament will Always be suspect.
This money could bring in a center half (like the lad at Livingston) , a left back, Steven Davis, Dominic Solanke, Jordan Jones and to be controversial Naismith - would also leave plenty in the bank.

1.) 27 Dec 2018 18:42:39
morelos goes for more than 12 million.

2.) 27 Dec 2018 19:11:08
Leave that rat steven naismith at hearts where he belongs!

3.) 27 Dec 2018 19:15:51
Good post Gers09 apart from the RAT🇬🇧.

4.) 27 Dec 2018 19:16:24
Unless he wants to leave we need to keep him. If we sell Morelos, we sell the season. Morelos is the best player we have, and without him, well, I don't even want to think where we'll be. Do we really want more loans? Do we really think that the money we would get for him will be invested back into the squad?

5.) 27 Dec 2018 20:02:01
We have bout to knowing morelos would want go at some point so if we do not have a list of possible replacements ready that is very poor by the club.
By the sound of it he wants to go and who can blame him.

6.) 27 Dec 2018 21:05:20
Morelos is our talisman. We shouldn't sell unless it's silly money or he tries to engineer a move away. The signing you mentioned do not excite me. The lad at Livingston and Jones would bolster our squad, don't know if they'd improve our starting 11. Solankie is a short term signing and Davies would improve us but at his age offers a short term fix like Solankie. Morelos is young, works impressively hard and scores goal, for me we should be building our team around him rather than cashing in just for the sake of getting bodies to fill our squad.

7.) 27 Dec 2018 21:10:53
We need a player similar to Naismith who can play just off the striker. Add that another striker and a creative centre midfielder and the squad looks much better. Morelos for £12 million? maybe? but could we hold on to him till the end of the season and try for more? Probably.

8.) 27 Dec 2018 23:05:18
I’m not sure we will get more than 12 m for him - remember we were being ridiculed for attempting to sell to China for 7 m. I personally would bite anyone’s hand off who offered that kind of cash and I don’t believe it would sell the season. Only a few weeks ago we were questioning him after the Aberdeen sending off. Yes he can score goals but he can’t be trusted. I’m sure SG will be able to find another striker capable of scoring in the spl. I personally feel SG has done a great job of talking up morelos and he will be sold if the price is right. Naismith is a rat, but I feel he is the type of player we currently need.

9.) 27 Dec 2018 23:05:38

10.) 27 Dec 2018 23:08:57
think we would be daft to let him go for 12M. best striker in scotland. what would we replace him with since goals from elsewhere in the park are woefully shy. why replace a guarantee with a maybe just doesn't make sense. if 15M plus was offered then i think it would be hard to argue with the board cashing in on him and taking that chance.

11.) 28 Dec 2018 00:01:26
To be fair recently Morelos has been keeping his temper in check, so maybe he is already starting to mature between the ears. The last couple of games he has still been aggressive but hasn't really been getting involved in confrontations, might just be me though. Definitely don't sell him before the summer we need him simple as that, we do need a player SIMILAR to Naismith but not Naismith preferably.

12.) 28 Dec 2018 00:13:51
Gees you make out 12m is nothing - massive profit on a player who can’t be trusted . I’m sure our scouts have identified a suitable replacement- also Moises coming from morelos indicate he wants away. I would cash in before he throws toys out and becomes a problem - would them have to accept less money. His current stock hasn’t been higher.

13.) 28 Dec 2018 07:48:27
I think you are right gers09. How many times have we seen young players especially spit the dummy out and down tools when something doesn't suit them? Much as i would hate to see Morelos go, it might be the only option. 12m or more would represent a huge profit and is a no brainer for me. You never know, if he hits 3 tomorrow that valuation could really hike. Go on Alfredo!

14.) 28 Dec 2018 11:04:43
Lol @Supercooper and leave the rat naismith at hearts yet wants davis to come back. Rats to a man every single one of then and not one of them should be back.

15.) 28 Dec 2018 15:38:43
Very different things were said between naismith's rangers departure and steven davis's rangers departure. Where have you been, every rangers fan knows that! Davis also stayed to make sure rangers got a transfer fee for him,800k to be exact! So Rabc10000,do your homework before coming on here accusing anyone of having double standards! The 2 departures are very different! Naismith I'll reiterate, is a total rat!

25 Nov 2018 00:18:24
Potential of going top of the league next week 😱, also the bonus of still being in a position to qualify from Europa cup group — what an amazing job our manager has done thus far. Add a couple of players in January and we are in with a shout - not too loud though 😜.

09 Nov 2018 17:30:47
Ejaria seems to have hit an easy ride on here after last nights performance- everyone banging on about our defense- but lost count how many times he gave the ball away - twice it led to goals. Also why no Ryan jack 🤔.

1.) 09 Nov 2018 18:02:31
Agree completely, would have had Ejaria off at half time for Jack. McRorie on for Coulibaly around the hour mark.

2.) 09 Nov 2018 19:00:08
I've said on here many times ejaria and coulibaly are not a good partnership. Both go missing throughout the matches.

3.) 09 Nov 2018 19:15:23
I can’t remember any big games were Ryan jack has shown up either, Gerrard could get a game instead of the entire midfield!

4.) 09 Nov 2018 20:19:53
I've said right from the beginning of season I wouldn't play ejaria away from home, puts us under pressure constantly by getting caught on the ball. he gets far too much praise from some on here imo. Loads of ability but his decision making on the ball is atrocious at times.

5.) 09 Nov 2018 20:43:33
Again in our midfield i'll reiterate what i've said all along, ryan jack plays in our midfield, every week! He keeps the ball moving and protects the 2 centre halfs! He does the ugly work in midfield, superbly well!

6.) 10 Nov 2018 03:03:17
Jack is an average premier league player who slows the game down too much. Absolutely no creativity and no goal threat either.

7.) 10 Nov 2018 09:44:31
Arthur D totally agree about Ryan jack. He slows the game down and always plays the easy pass too often. Where this is ok for most teams but when you are playing against teams with packed defences it’s too slow.

8.) 10 Nov 2018 13:47:42
Arthur D and Baz the bear, ryan jack is a defensive midfielder, NOT a creative midfielder, there's a difference you know guys!

9.) 10 Nov 2018 14:06:25
Feck used to call Barry side pass ferguson when advocat managed. Break up play Get the ball, keep possession and then give to creative player who is meant to do the damage. Thought everyone knew that. 😀.

Can’t believe that people would prefer docherty to Davis - wow - McDonald’s to a nice steak . A seasoned EPL player, international captain and has always been a stand out. Get him ASAP - our manager stated it on Sunday, he needs players he can trust . Young docherty’s time Will come but leave him to get game time - wouldn’t surprise me if Charlie Adam also joins - I know I will be mocked but again he would bring a range of passing, set piece delivery and a player not frightened to mix it . We are currently missing all of this.

Hollow - what a waste of a post- obviously the wife not letting you speak again! Nothing between Middleton and Kent - about the length of paisley road west! . I like Middleton but a young lad learning his trade and one for the future. contracts that say they must play in Europe and old firm - only one man decides and that is our manager. Re worrell - again the manger trusts him above everyone and that’s why he is playing - simple as that. I am over the moon with our progress, in the mix for the league and TOP of our europa group not forgetting about semi final of league cup. Our manager and his back room staff have done a wonderful job - some have a short memory!

This Steven Davis is finished chat is nonsense. I indicated months ago he would be rejoining and all I got was abuse about how he was finished and legs were gone . He could be the difference on us winning the league! - how many games especially away from home have we needed a player to keep a hold of the ball and dictate play, a player who can find a forward pass? . Davis is an outstanding free transfer . Another example of our manager being able to wheel and deal . We are so close to Celtic with a transfer squad spend of approx 5m. Add another striker and cover for arfield and we might have a fantastic 2019.
