Robbie McCrory is undoubtedly a Fine Goalkeeper and his qualities are practically Identical to his predecessor AMc . great at reflex saves, one on ones and protecting that Line from Post to post . BUT, and its a big BUT that was exposed yesterday. A nightmare at cross balls. You could see his anger at losing that goal yesterday as It took his clean sheets away in the dying minutes. If we were drawing or one up at the time it would have been catastrophic in all aspects of having a goallie that is the finished product and that includes coming off the Line and doing what most seasoned goallies do without the blink of an eye. Make it theirs. No ifs ands or buts . that's the young lads weak spot as it was AMc. To compete at the highest level domestically and in Europe, its a must have. Sorry Robbie, but most teams below us will jump at the chance of having his qualities. but sadly it won't be at Ibrox as I can't see him staying to be #2 all over again. Maybe Butland or whoever will be #1 and that predecessor AMc #2. and also a coach for the up n coming academy goallies. Just my take but feel its pretty spot on. cheers to young Robbie in whatever his next career path may be.

He was great at cross balls v Celtic though so how is it a weak spot? The lad will only get better with games and experience. He's played 5 games for us man and you are getting rid of him. Your take is far from spot on.

Was fantastic at cross balls v celtic. And was praised for actually coming off his line. Perhaps an off day?

Deece get a grip . he's hardly played for past couple years and it's not easy to be out that long and then be expected to do everything.

Mccrorie tried to come for a couple of crosses yes but how many times does Alan come for a cross ? give the guy a break.

I saw enough yesterday, off game or not to tell me that he is not our #1.Man.

5.) 22 May 2023
22 May 2023 15:01:23
The more he plays the more confident and decisive he will be right now he feels under pressure to come for everything to cement his plays and it's no wonder when people like yourself jump down his throat for slightest wee thing

And just for the record you defend as a team ?.

6.) 22 May 2023
22 May 2023 15:01:58
His opposition vs Celtic was OH who was nowhere near and Furahashi whos 5ft tall and no exactly aggressive. Deecee point is valid and not far off actually as he did flap at a fair few balls put on top of him vs an aggressive CF.

7.) 22 May 2023

Also 6 games 5 clean sheets ? and the knives are out

Absolutely ridiculous folk on here.

As far as I’ve read Butland also has weaknesses so who do you suggest decee

Just for clarification purposes how many games have we lost whilst Robbie been in goals for us?

9.) 22 May 2023
22 May 2023 15:15:52
Just my opinion and no need for the Insults. Time will prove I am correct and if it doesn't then Its a win win for the club and his career. As I said and the Insulters missed. Good luck to the lad in whatever his career path takes.

As much as I want Robby to be our no1 we have no time for mistakes next season. Hopefully he puts in a strong final 2 games.

One thing I picked up about Butland from his clips is that he parries the ball out a lot, looks like a habit.

12.) 22 May 2023
22 May 2023 15:56:44
I thought he looked like any other professional. He excelled at coming off his line a number of times against Hibs and made some goal stopping saves to boot. He deserves a good look next season and I wouldn’t go spending ridiculous transfer money on someone who may be marginally better. I would be looking for some goal scorers. We were 1W 1D and 2L vs celtic this season in the league with the 4-0 drubbing to start the season being the killer. The stand out difference is that despite having roughly the same goals against their goal difference is vastly superior. We need people to put the ball in the net, period end of story….

Let’s see how the big performs in next 2 games. Certainly missed a couple of crosses yesterday but in no way to blame for goal conceded. Much better than McGregor at coming off line and protecting central defenders. 2 big games coming up and I for one think the boy will come thru very well.

"I saw enough yesterday, off game or not to tell me that he is not our #1.Man. "!

What a ludicrous statement to make! Six games, two of them against Celtic, and five clean sheets. That's quality right there. He should be rewarded for this form with the number one shirt.

Show me any goalkeeper in the world who goes beyond the man protecting his front area to collect cross balls from corners and I'll show you a goalie who loses more goals from cross balls than McCrorie ever will.

Thats a crazy statement to think he had ANYTHING to do with the goal conceded yesterday.

It was 100% the fault of Ure. He only has one job as the man protecting the front area, and that's to protect the front area and not let anyone across him. Watch Souttar go mad at him afterwards, and rightly so. He'll learn from that defensively.

Hibs goal was hee haw to do with our GK, whoever was between the sticks.

Rangers goalkeepers will always have a high number of clean sheets due to the opposition we play domestically. The real issue is how they perform in the big games when we are under a bit of pressure. I’m not writing the boy off but at this moment in time we need a more experienced operator.

Rabbi what if we in fact sign butland and he sells a goal on his debut a la goram, should we then get rid of butland.

18.) 22 May 2023
22 May 2023 17:14:26
He’s got 2 clean sheets against our biggest rivals don’t get much bigger than that.

22 May 2023 17:25:10
McCrorie missed a couple of crosses yesterday but overall he played well. Whether he is given the gloves or we bring in a new number one, he will be a good keeper to have at Ibrox. We need to remember yesterday that we had a totally new central defensive partnership and young King still has a lot to learn. With the correct players in front of him next season McCrorie could be an excellent keeper.

20.) 22 May 2023
22 May 2023 17:25:32
Aw jeesy peeps! He’s played 6 games in 2 seasons and folk don’t expect him to make the odd mistake! Gees peace!

21.) 22 May 2023
22 May 2023 17:29:02
I’m going to go out on a limb and say losing a goal might be the best thing for him. It takes the pressure off a bit.

22.) 22 May 2023
22 May 2023 17:37:55
What rabbiburns said is exactly why we will never see styles of play change to how we want it to. In order to do that people and teams need time which sometimes might mean not the result in games we hope for. However its a long term approach that you need. Think ferguson at man United. This constant need for saying we don't have time to do this or that is nonsense. It's always been the problem in this country. I coach a youth team and there is an attitude amongst parents and coaches that if their sons not winning every game every week then they are not developing. It rips my knitting.

Williewanfit, and how has he performed in the big games then?

24.) 22 May 2023
22 May 2023 17:39:59
I didn't see a major weakness exposed in Mccrorie at the weekend.

What I saw was inexperience.

He made a mistake with one cross ball and it seemed to impact his confidence for the next few.

That's all part and parcel of developing players and also one of the reasons it's so difficult to develop young players at our club.

He made a hash of one corner early on then chose to punch the next one, it wasn`t the best of punches but it shows he was thinking about what was best rather than thinking I`ll stay at home for the next one . He was quick off his line, used the ball well and made two really good saves . The goal wasn`t his fault it was a near post cross that no keeper would have come for and it was Robbie Ures fault for losing Hanlon . He showed his inexperience too but rather he did it when we are 3-0 up. I don`t know if McCrorie is the answer but I wouldn`t dump yet . He should be competing for spot with whoever we sign. I would be gobsmacked if there was any place for McGregor in the plans after the season he has had.

Orange tinted, I happen to think we need a more experienced goalkeeper for the start of next season with McCrorie his understudy. Just my opinion
Whoever is between the sticks hope they have a quiet season.

31.) 22 May 2023

Mcrorie needs games, if we do sign butland I hope rm still plays at least 10 games next season.

Agree davie, I'd like to see him play some cup games, he needs game time to gain experience.

33.) 25 May 2023

We aren’t getting a complete goal
Keeper simple as that and if the young lad is even half as good as shagger it will do for me.

34.) 25 May 2023
23 May 2023 14:52:08
Deecee you obviously didn't see the Celtic match when Robby was coming for every cross ball and succeeding in winning them. He's made a couple of mistakes against Hibs and already you are calling for him to be replaced. And the goal was not his fault either. He's the obvious top contender for the position next season.

Bang on orange tinted about coaching, i was a development coach for 15 years at a lower league club, worst parents are for kids between 6 -9 who tell you at their first match that their son is a striker or a cdm, let the kids just enjoy the game, i would play them at either rb or lb and see if they could tackle pass etc before they even got near the position their parents wanted, they want kids to just win no matter and think they are brilliant, done my nut in, i'd learn more from a kid next game after a loss than i ever did from a win mate,
